Logic Pro X Update failure

Hello
I have Logic Pro X installed my mac and since May i have been trying to update the programme, as per the reminder. However, every time i go to the app store and update, i get an error message: 'There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (20)’.
I can't do the update! Can anyone help?
Thanks

Louise,
There are a few steps you can take that usually fix this issue.. They are as follows;
Close all other apps on your Mac...
1 ) Launch the Mac App Store App.
2) Go to the Mac App Store Menu Bar / Store and Sign out of your account
3) Quit the Mac App Store App
4) Launch the Mac App Store App
5) If it doesn't ask you automatically to Sign back in again then go to the Store menu option again and sign back in using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic Pro X in the first place. Otherwise sign in when it asks you checking it is the correct Apple ID.
6) Look out for any new Terms and Conditions you may be required to agree to....
7)  Now go to the same menu item, Store and click on View My Account... You may be asked for your Apple ID Password again.
8) Check all the details including Address, Credit Card info etc... to make sure it is correct and up to date... (Maybe you got a replacement Credit Card at some point for example?) Correct anything that is wrong or inaccurate...
9) Now go to the Updates tab and look for the Logic Pro X update to appear there... and update as normal
If this doesn't fix things (which it normally does for error 20) then let us know as there are some other things that can cause this problem...
Cheers..

  • Logic Pro not updating to v. 9.1.8

    Hello,
I've recently updated to Mavericks and noticed that Logic Pro screen turns black as the playhead moves. I have been told that this is because my current Logic Pro version, which is 9.1.6. is not compatible with Mavericks. I have been trying to update to v. 9.1.8. of Logic ever since but kept recieving Error 1004 at the app store. I have tried logging out and back in, tried rebooting my iMac and also tried to delete Logic as a whole and redownload it but noticed that Logic Pro 9 is not even available on the Emirati App store. The only one being offered is Logic Pro X. Please suggest what i must do to solve this issue.
I look forward to your replies and thank you for all your support in advance.
    Sincerely.

    In addition to Pancenter's comments...
If you did buy it via the Mac App Store then...
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Cookies
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.cookies and com.apple.appstore.plist files from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
    Type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Preferences
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Now launch the mac App Store and check under the Purchase tab and/or update tab
Logic Pro 9 isn't sold any longer but if you previously bought it via the Mac App Store it will continue to be available to you under the Purchase tab so long as you are signed in using the same Apple ID you bought it with originally.
If it's under the Purchase tab you should now be able to update it.. as normal..

  • HT2375 logic pro 9 update won't load on mountain lion

I HAD LOGIC PRO 8 ,WORKING FINE, HAD SNOW LEAPORD, WORKING FINE DECIDED TO UP GRADE OS AND LOGIC PRO 8 TO 9.UP GRADED THE OS TO MOUNTAIN LION THEN PURCHASED LOGIC PRO UP GRADE TO 9 IT WILL NOT LOAD.I HAVE A INTEL I MAC 4 GB RAM 2.66 PROCESSOR 500GB HARD DRIVE. QUICK TIME 10.2. PLEASE HELP

You don't provide enough information. What upgrade? Apple stopped selling the upgrade about 1.5 years ago, now you purchase Logic Pro 9 in the Mac App Store.
If you have an older version, you have to install Logic Pro 9 (ignore all the installer error messages) and then run Software Update to get version 9.1.8. Older versions don't launch on Mountain Lion.

  • Logic Pro 9 update - PLEASE HELP!

    Hi.
I upgraded my computers to the newest Mac Pro which have Mavericks.
I have problem with Logic Pro - it has strange black lines, which makes it difficult to work.
I wanted to update my Logic Pro (version 9.1.6) but it says I have to do it via Apple Store and apple store app says there are no updates available.
    How can I update it?
Ps. It is spelled "Logic Pro", and there are no other copies of Logic on my computer.

First, you must be signed into the Mac App Store using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase Logic in the first place....
check the the purchse tab in the App Store app... To confirm you are signed in with the correct Apple ID as Logic Pro will show up there if you are. If not you are not signed into the App Store with the same ID used to purchase it initially. Use the menu option Store.. To sign out and sign in again with the correct ID
    now check updates again.....
    if that that desnt work.....
Copy your Logc app to an external drive, delete the copy in your app folder  and unplug that external drive.. So there is no copy of Logic Pro on your system anywhere
Now go to the purchase tab in the App Store and you should see Logic Pro there for you to download and install again and this will be the 9.1.8 version...

  • Problem: I bought Logic Studio 8, then the Logic Pro 9 Update, and now lost

    I can't start Logic, after...
    - I had a running Logic Pro 9 system, that I installed with an upgrade to my bought Logic Studio 8. Ok, back then.
    - Then I did a big mistake: I have thrown away (because I did not think it was necessary to keep) the manual and the CD of Logic Studio 8. So I lost the Serial number, which was printed in the manual, and I lost the CD too.
    - Back then, that was not a problem, because I had a running system.
    - Now I tried to install on a second machine, and I could not. I ordered a new serial number, and I received it from Apple support. But it looks like I have received some Logic Studio number and in the mail they don't say which version. Since it is called Logic Studio, I assume the serial is for version 8. But I can't install that because I lost the version 8 CD too...
    - So I now need a new Logic Studio version 8 CD ? I tried to order that by fax (the same support number that also sent me the serial), but no response from Apple.
    - Now I have moved my main machine to another Mac Pro (Firewire Transfer) and now I must also enter the serial number and none of the ones that I have works.
I feel like Apple should provide me a complete set of Logic Pro 9, CD and serial. This would make my life easy again. I would also cover the expenses.
    What shall I do?
    Who can I contact?
Btw: it seems to be really hard to get Logic support. Apple is a big company...

So that's settled then. Move on over to the Apple Store. A complete set of Logic Pro 9, CD and serial comes at 499.-
If you have proof of purchase of L8, it might be less, but that would imply you haven't thrown that away too.

  • LOGIC PRO APPLICATIONS UPDATE 4.0.2 ERROR JAVA SCRIPT on install of PRO APP

I have recently installed Logic 8.. Upon opening Logic 8 after installing . I get an error that says I need to install a pro application support version 4.0.2 in order to run Logic 8. I then download the App Supp. update version 4.0.2 and attempt to install it. Upon installation it scans my volumes and startup disk . Then it flags an error. (red exclamation point) stating while evaluating the volumes it has found an error in my java script.. I have already inserted my OSX disc. and went to disk utilities and repaired all permissions as well as booted up in safe mode (hold down shift on boot up) and repaired all permissions in disk utilities again.. Still having the same error.. I cant have one with out the other and have exhausted a week trying to figure this problem out.... I have seen a similar post about this problem but there were issues with the "postee" about not having the OSX install disk so there was never any closure with that one....
PLEASE HELP... I would love to celebrate a successful install of Logic 8

Good news, thanks for the report!
I was drawing a blank in that other thread, but while mulling it then seeing your new post... BINGO!

  • How can I update Logic Pro 9.1.6 to 9.1.8?

I have tried to download software from online that Apple directed me to get 9.1.8, but that said I could only update by using the app store. But there is no Logic pro 9 in the app store anymore. Is there a way?  It's not even in the purchased tab.
(ps I am trying to update because I read that the update makes it behave with Mavericks)
    Thanks!

    Dnlsan,
Do not miss out any of these steps and do them in this order...
First, sign out of your account within the Mac App Store app...
Quit the Mac App Store app...
Launch the Mac App Store app..
Sign in using your Apple ID..
Watch for any updated Terms and Conditions dialog boxes that might appear and agree to them...
Check your Payment information is also correct and up to date even though there is no charge for the LP9.1.8 update...
Now go to Updates in the Mac App Store app..and check there for the Logic Pro 9.1.8 update
    This should fix the issue...
    However...
Again as was said earlier.. also make sure your Logic Pro 9 app is correctly located in your Applications folder and ensure the app is indeed named Logic Pro and nothing else... (Some people found their current copy of the Logic Pro app would be labelled Logic Pro 9.1.6 for example.. and they had to edit the name to put it back to the original Logic Pro for updates to work)
You should then be able to update correctly.
if not.. contact Apple directly as they may need to reset your account on their Mac App Store servers.. to resolve any remaining issues...

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue... fresh install of Logic Pro, fresh update of Mountain Lion, everything up-to-date. Logic Pro crashes on start every time. I've trolled a number of forums and seen lots of references to ProKit.framework being the culprit. Some recommend downgrading this, but then there could be trouble with iPhoto and other apps. Some recommend waiting for the next OS update. I can't find a conclusive solution.

  • Logic Pro 9.1.6 string samples missing

I have purchased Logic Pro 9.1.6 from the App Store and downloaded all the additional content. But there are some samples missing, most of the string instruments in section "10 Orchestral -> Strings" and also in the Symphony Jam Pack the most of the String samples can't be found by the EXS.
I have downloaded and reinstalled the Symphony Orchestral Jam Pack as well as the 4,6gb additional sound files, but that didn't help.
There is also a problem when I try to load Organs from the Symphony Jam Pack. An error message pops up saying "Logic Pro: Plug-In „Pipe Organ“ not available!"
Any suggestions what I can do to fix the problem?
    Best regards,
    Andreas

I finally got the time to sit down and tackle the problem. This happened to me after a hard drive replacement by Apple. For whatever reason (and there seems to be many). Certain samples and instruments don't re-load under the later Logic Pro 9 updates. Here's how I fixed it. Brute force.
    1. Download a freeware program called Pacifist. It allows you to extract contents from packages. Open the jampaks with the missing files (2 and 4 are the big ones with missing samples... 1 and 3 have a few).
    2. This is tedious. Most missing instruments are from Jampak 2. Use pacifist to open Jampak 2 and copy the missing sample files back into HD=>Application Support=>Garage Band=>Instrument Library=>Sampler=>Sampler Files
    3. Copy over the other jampaks as you see fit.
You can copy the entire contents or do like I did and replace the missing folders or patches. For some reason all the legato samples and the "RS" samples (articulations, i suppose) won't replace themselves EVEN IF YOU RE-INSTALL THE JAMPAKs in their entirety.
It ain't pretty, but it works. Good Luck!

  • Is there a way to patch my Logic Pro 9.1.8? Or do I have to spend another $200.00 and purchase Logic Pro X?

Just wondering if Logic Pro is like Pro tools where I can patch a newer version without paying full price.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Logic Pro 9 updates are free, but Apple won't provide more updates for Logic Pro 9 (it has been removed from the Mac App Store).
Now, if you want a newer version, you have to purchase Logic Pro X for $199.99

  • Logic Pro 9 to a new computer

How can I transfer Logic Pro 9 to a new computer.  I've already updated to 9.1.8.
I began with Logic Pro 8 (complete boxed suite), updated to 9 when it came out.  Everything worked great.  I bought a new computer and I migrated Logic Pro 9 and when I tried to use it I was asked to supply my serial number, I did.  Then I was asked for my serial number for Logic Pro 8, I supplied it.  Everything seemed to be going well but in the middle of the loading process, it crashes (actually around the time Kontakt 5 is loading).
Questions are: should I uninstall Logic and reinstall it?  Can I just install Logic 9 (the update) since 8 came with the old computer and I don't have the discs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Donaldcarl

Just reinstall=ing Logic never seems to do much and is considered basically a waste of time in almost every case...
So.. while the following is a PITA.. it's the most reliable method to get everything up and running on a new Mac....
    1) Reformat the System drive and install OS X using the Recovery partition...
Restart Mac (and when the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
Note: Dont simply reinstall OS X... Use the menu option to get to the Disk Utility... and reformat System Drive...Then install OS X..
    2) Install Logic Pro 9 Update only.... It will ask for both your LP8 and then LP9 serials so enter them...
    3) Update LP9 to 9.1.8 using this link...
    Logic Pro 9.1.8
    4) Test LP9 to ensure its all working
    5) Install the latest Audio/Midi drivers if needed..
    6) Test LP9 again....
    7) Install Kontakt (latest version) or Komplete if that's what you have... and update via NI's Service Center
    8) Test LP9 and Kontakt...
    9) Now install anything else you use...
    (10) Manually copy across all personal data, projects/photos/docs etc.. from old Mac via external HD or Thumb drive...
    Dont use Migration..........

  • Using multiple controllers in logic pro x simultaneously

I am using Logic pro x, updated today.
    Two USB controllers
1 Alesis DM 10 Electronic drum kit
    2 M-Audio Keystation 88es
When we record, the problem is that if I have the Software track like a piano selected then both of the controllers play it.  If producer drum kit is selected then both play it.   If both selected both play both.    How do I assign the Alesis kit to the producer kit channel/track and the keystation to the piano channel/track for example
I have the brain/module of the alesis set to just send midi signal (no audio) to macbook pro via usb
I also use a presonus studio live 16.0.2 that is my mixer / firewire interface and I have the output of the software piano instrument output set to CH 11-12 and the producer kit channel output set to Ch 15-16
One thought that I had is to use a midi cable for one of the controllers to go to presonus first and then it would communicate to macbook via firewire connection.
    Is that necessary?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi
You need to do several steps:
    a) Set each controller to transmit on a separate MIDI channel
    b) In Logic, set each track to receive on a specific MIDI channel (see step 1) in the Track parameters Inspector
    c) In Logic, go to File:Project Settings:Recording and enable "Auto demix...
    d) In Logic, Record arm both Instrument tracks

I get a 'No entry' Icon and a not supported on this type of Mac message. I cannot update either as anything up to 9.1.1 tells me I don't need it yet 9.1.2 tells me I need an eligable Logic Pro Version was not found in applications.
All of my files are stored in a separate hard drive with only the actual app having been on my Macbook. Should I just reinstall?

    Hi
To run Mouitain Lion you need to update Logic.
For the updaters to work the Logic application must be:
    a) Within the Applications folder, and not in any sub-folder
    b) Named "Logic Pro" with no extra numbers or spaces

  • Do I need Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, and if so, how do I get it now?

Do I need Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, and if so, how do I get it now?
    Tuesday, 2008-07-29
Due to prolonged illness, I purchased the Logic Studio Upgrade version (I already had Logic Pro 7.2.3, with dongle) only last week. Logic Studio Upgrade version initially installs Logic Pro version 8.0.0. I then dutifully set out to download both the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update and the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update.
As of this week, all attempts and maneuvers to simply get the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update have failed. I cannot even find it, let alone download it!
Yes, I've tried the relabeling juggling act to fool Software Update into eventually listing and providing both the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update and the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update—but no luck, not any longer. These moves may have worked up until relatively recently, but they do not work now, at least as of this week.
All searching of Apple's site(s) and Support pages results in nada—Apple itself no longer lists any such file/dmg/download/update anywhere! All previous links are either dead or just dump one back on to the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update page.
(In my many searches, I noted what seemed to me to be a majority of opinion that the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update was a dog, especially in Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 or 10.5.3. Many users reported crashes, panics, and.or freezes. Is this why Apple has pulled the update and rendered it extinct?)
I Googled, I Asked Why, I Cuiled—but no Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, except as that which lurked in the murky warez waters. Still, frustrated as I was, I did even try all such I could find . . . but no third party-hosted update worked at all.
I am concerned because in all my previous experience with Apple and its applications, ample information is made readily available about the contents of any update and an explanation of its relationship to previous updates. By this latter I mean: Apple indicates that update "x" incorporates the previous updates "u" and "v"; therefore one can proceed safely to install update "x" even if one missed updates "u" and "v" or for whatever reason did not install them.
So . . . do I need Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, if I am then going to further update with the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update? Does Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update incorporate the changes made in Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update? Will I be missing (critically?) something(s) in Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update if I in fact do not ever get it or install it? And how would I know? Apple has not only removed the update and all traces of it, but Apple has also removed all information about Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update—it is now literally as if it never existed.
So what's a po' boy to do? Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update cannot now be found on VersionTracker or MacUpdate or anywhere else. To date, no user group or organization or educational institution or program or audio-related company posted it or archived it.
Where/how can I get a copy of the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update?
    If I can't, what do I do?
    If I can't, what do I miss?
And where is Apple's support for Logic Studio/Logic Pro in all of this?
    Earnestly hoping,
    j.

    Rodger,
Thank you for your gracious welcome . . .
and thank you for your swift response . . .
