Logic Pro X won't record from USB or builtin audio devices

I have a M-Audio Fast Track and I've overcome the bugs regarding audio input and Mavericks by using a new mac and upgrading to Logic Pro X.  Now I have a new issue which I think is unrelated.
I can hear the guitars in Logic Pro X when I turn the monitor on.  The track shows input levels, my guitar plugins work.  When I hit record I can record software instruments but when I try to record guitars or vocals nothing is ever recorded.  I even unplugged the M-Audio Fast Track and tried the mic input on the mac and have gotten the same results.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

  • Downloaded Logic Pro and won't run

Downloaded Logic Pro and won't run. Keeps telling me couldn't open due to a problem. It says to update my software or reinstall it but it' won't let update it neither.

Bought the software in app store, installed it and it just won't run. I have OS X 10.6.8 just donwgraded from lion and safri wouldn't work either since.
The error window tells me maybe I should re install the program or update my software. I've done both, donwloaded the upgrade (Logic pro 9.1.7) and the install helper keeps telling I can't updrade my software like that. I need to chek for actualization through my computer. But the computer actualization finder "thingy" won't find more softaware to update.

  • Logic Pro &Tascam US 2000, record enable trks 1-12?

How do I get Logic Pro to recognise an external I/O device like the Tascam US200?
How do I get the Sound Preferences to "see" it?
Once it's seen, how can I enable multiple tracks in Logic Pro, so I can record my live drums ?

Did you install the appropriate driver(s) for the unit?

You should be able to assign any of the 16 inputs (not 14) to any Audio Channel Strip/Audio Track in Logic. Same for any of the 4 outputs.
If you use stereo Channel Strips/Audio Tracks, you should be able to record 8 stereo tracks simultaneously, or 16 mono tracks, or probably any combination of those, like 4 stereo and 8 mono tracks.
Yes, Logic is also designed for multi-track recording. Dûh.   That is just an ignorant and nonsensical remark, probably born from frustration.

  • TS3938 logic pro 7 won't open and power pc applications are no longer supported appears, can anyone help?

logic pro 7 won't open and power PC applications are no longer supported appears, can anyone help?

You'll have to update Logic Pro.

  • Logic Pro X won't start after first download. No error messages to suggest anything is wrong.

So I downloaded Logic Pro X and then launched from the Launchpad. The first window I get is a lime green window, showing that "Logic Pro X is currently downloading an essential collection of sounds and loops" and that the process may take an hour. In actual fact the process takes 7 minutes, but then the Logic icon just disappears and nothing happens. No error messages, no alerts, no nothing.
When I launch Logic again (from either Launchpad, Applications or Dock), the same process repeats, as if it never took place. Same again - green window and after 7 minutes the icon just disappears from the Dock and nothing happens.
    Any tips?

First, you are running either 10.8.5 or 10.9.4 yes? (Your sig says you are still running under Lion... and that is not compatible with LPX 10.0.7)
If not update your OS X version... and try again..
    If so then....
Try starting your Mac in Safe Mode....
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
After the logo appears, you should see a progress bar during startup. This indicates that your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
Once that has completed and you see your desktop as normal... restart your Mac in normal mode.
Make sure you are still using Ethernet and you have energy settings set to never sleep for both Display and Screen and make sure Drives never go to sleep.
Delete the Logic Pro X app from your applications folder and empty trash
Now go to the Mac App Store and under the Purchase tab you will find Logic Pro X ready to download and install again... (Click on the button to the far right of the LPX entry there)
Now do the Essential download..... and test...

  • Logic Pro 9 won't import GarageBand songs from iPad

This used to be a simple process. Import the song via iTunes from the iPad to the Mac, save the ".band" file to the desktop, click on the song and it would open in Logic Pro 9. I can no longer get iOS GarageBand songs, new or old, to open in Logic on the Mac. Logic keeps crashing. When I click on the ".band" file, try to open it from within Logic, or try dragging onto the Logic icon, the only option I get is to save the file that I'm trying to open. If I save it and then try to open it, there is nothing there but an empty arrange window with the name of the song at the top. If I click on all of the advanced options when saving, Logic crashes and says it needs to be updated yet there are no available updates. It's already up to date. Is it suggesting that I purchase Logic X bc the iPad has the latest version of GarageBand? One problem there is, I can no longer open the old files, that opened previously on the same Mac, etc., that were recorded on the 8-track version of GarageBand. Any ideas? Should I re-install Logic Pro 9?

Hey, thanks. I have GB 2.0.1 (which is probably linked to GB 10) on the iPad 2 and LP 9.1.8 on the Mac. I take the iPad on the road and sketch out ideas then transfer them to the Mac. I have found a way to transfer the audio manually by opening the project folder and copying 1 track at a time, but that does me no good as all of those audio tracks get replaced anyway. I want to keep the MIDI files and know how to access them in the ".band" file or change the language in the file to make GB 2.0.1 open in LP9, if any one knows how to do that.
Do you know how to downgrade to an older version of GB for iOS? The one purchased on my app store is 2.0.1, unfortunately. Where/ how can I get an older version? Thank you.
As for buying LP 10, my Mac won't support it as it's 32-bit.

  • Logic pro 8 won't transpose

I have recorded a track of guitar into Logic Pro. I want to drop the pitch by an octave. I have changed the transposition on the channel strip in the Inspector to -12, but it doesn't affect the pitch whatsoever. In fact changing the transposition values seems to have no affect on the audio at all. What am I missing?

    Hey, Problem solved!
    Indeed, that matters.
Only within Logic recorded Audio tracks have this saught-after checkbox "follow tempo".
However, no problem if you got a track from someone else. You just have to re-record it within Logic.
There are two Options. I prefer this one:
    - Assign a Bus to the output of the audio track you have.
    - Make a new audio track and assign this Bus as its input.
    - Set this new track into record mode, place your playhead properly and hit record.
    - The newly created audio track will have the checkbox "follow tempo" in the inspector.
This, however, just works in realtime. Another option is to bounce the original track and import it into your bin. CAUTION: the "normalize" option MUST NOT be checked in the bounce dialog! If it IS, the "follow tempo" option won't be available afterwards!
    Hope this helps somebody,
    Cheers,
    Stefan.

  • LOGIC PRO X and BOSS GT 10 USB interface

Hi I am using Logic pro x for the first time...So im having some difficulties in recording my guitar...I am using the USB interface BOSS GT10 along with my mac book ..my problem is
    1. im hearing multiple sounds in my output ..one of clean guitar and other of the patch that i have made on logic pro..how do i get rid of the clean sound?
    2. there is a very small amount of delay ..which is called latency ...i dont know how to get rid of that??
    3. i have amplitube...can the amps from amplitube be used in my mainstage 3 and logic pro x...if yes how??
i am new to this interface so kindly explain my problems briefly...
    thank you

I cannot answer your question about the BOSS interface..... Try reading it's User Guide for more info on routing etc...
    Owner’s Manual: (GT-10_OM.pdf)
But as far as #2 and #3 are concerned.. I suggest you take a little time and read the very helpful User Guide to Logic Pro found here or under Logic Pro's Help menu...
    The specific parts of the User Guide you will need (Though I also suggest you actually read it from the beginning as there is a lot of useful info in  there you will likely need at some point in the future) would be as follows;

  • Logic Pro, Apple Loops, and Restoring from Time Machine

I recently had to restore my Mac from a Time Machine backup, and like most things touched by Apple, the restoration worked flawlessly for all my stuff, with a few exceptions. Some 3rd party apps I use had problems with file permissions but most of it was quickly sorted out in under half an hour.
However, Logic Pro refuses to see the Apple Loops I have installed on my system. My Loops are stored in two folders at the following locations:
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for Soundtrack/
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro/
GarageBand has no problem seeing these, but Logic Pro can't find them, and won't let me show it where they are. The Apple Loop Utility found them alright, although I did have to show it where the files were kept. Any idea what's wrong?

You may need to rebuild the loops index.
Open up Logic and display the Loops Browser
Open up FInder and locate the folder containing the loops as you describe
Drag the loops folders onto the Loops Browser
That will rebuild the index and all should be well.

  • Logic Pro 8 won't install on my new Lion Mac! What can I do about it?!!?

Last week I bought a brand spanking new Macbook Pro that I was very chuffed with and runs OSX 10.7.2 (Lion). But now that I have got round to installing my music software, I have found that Logic Studio 8 will not work at all. My old Mac ran 10.5 (Leopard) and apparently the new Lion OSX "..no longer supports PowerPC based applications."
I had no intention of upgrading to Logic 9 but thought I probably would if it was reasonably priced, however, I can't find anywhere online that sells a Logic 8 to 9 upgrade (it appears to have been discontineud) and the full version is over £400! I can't speak to anyone from apple till next week as its Christmas.
    I want to know:
    A. if there is any way of getting Logic 8 to work on Lion (please don't say to get an OSX update as I have the latest 10.7.2 and it definitely doesn't work)
    B. if there is anyway to upgrade to the full Logic Pro 9 (including MainStage 2, Soundtrack Pro 3, 40 software instrument plug-ins, over 80 effect plug-ins,        WaveBurner 1.6, Compressor 3.5, Impulse Response Utility, Apple Loops Utility, QuickTime 7 Pro) for a fraction of the full price.
    C. if anyone else has had the same problem and how it was resolved (e.g. did Apple offer you Logic Pro 9 for free/significantly reduced cost?).
Advanced thanks to anyone who can shed some light (and hopefully good news) on this most distressing subject!!

The general consensus is that LP8 won't run on Lion - as you know. This has been discussed here so try a search.
Otherwise, Apple just released Logic in the app store for I think £129 or something so it's not that much to buy now. I'm not sure if they're offering an upgrade path which is cheaper, but check the app store.

  • Macbook Pro 15" won't boot from ANYTHING :( Can't mount internal drive

    Hi there,
I'm new to these forums so please bear with me if I make a faux pas.
A few days ago while watching a movie on my MBP Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 the beach ball of death appeared and the computer became unresponsive. I restarted to the flashing folder with a question mark.
Tried to boot from the install disk - No joy : Occasionally gets to the language selection screen (after a good 5-8 minute wait) and then instantly and completely freezes. Cursor won't move, caps lock light is unresponsive etc..
Tried to boot from Diskwarrior - Similar to the above. Long wait, boots to the Diskwarrior 'setting up' screen, unresponsive cursor - despite, Diskwarrior seemingly going through the motions (status in text changes, menu bar appears) and then it reports an unexpected error with code 60, 2105 and completely freezes.
Can't boot from a USB flash drive with a clean version of OS X made from my install disk.
Disk won't mount when in target disk mode. However the DVD drive mounts it's contents onto the host machine when it target mode.
I removed the drive last night and placed it in an external enclosure and OS X reports "The disk you've inserted is not recognised et.. "Initialise" "Ignore" "Eject". The drive appears in Disk Utility but all options are greyed out, SMART status says 'not supported' and it's capacity is shown as 0 bytes. The drive registers in the Hardware pane of Diskwarrior but no-where else.
I'm fine with the fact that the drive has failed but could these problems indicate something more serious? I'm concerned that the machine won't boot from any device or media. Is this a symptom of a failed hard drive or could this be a logic board issue?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks all and Happy new Year.
    XOXO

You might try a PRAM reset and see if this does any good.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379?viewlocale=en_US
It sounds like the hard drive itself is toast based on how it looks in an enclosure. So you won't be able to boot from it. Possibly after a PRAM reset you could option boot to a disc or to your external drive.
I had the experience of a failed hard drive totally messing up my PowerMacG4, and it took some doing to get it going again. I finally got it going again, and it has been working ever since without issue.
The MBP is a different machine, but having experienced first hand what a dying hard drive could do, I think it's well worth doing any resets you can.
If no joy, make an appointment at the genius bar and ask them if they can run a hardware test from their store feed. If you do have other issues, they should show up then.
If you end up being able to boot to the optical drive, you could try running the extended version of the Apple Hardware test yourself.
    Good luck!
