Logic referencing wrong apple loop after dragging from loop browser

(I am an X-Pro Tools Junkie) I am loving Logic.
I recently upgraded from Logic 7 on an old G4 to Logic 9 Studio on a MacBook Pro. I installed all my software and plugin’s  fresh on the new machine. I opened up each projectindividually on my old machine and exporting the entire project and checked allthe boxes to copy all loops, audio files, settings, etc.  to a new auxiliary hard drive. As a result, all my projects open up nicely on my new system.
I have a massive library of third party apple loopsincluding all 18 volumes of Drums On Demand. Also, I have the preferencechecked NOT to copy audio files to the session. Unfortunately, with thiscombination, when I drag and drop one of my Apple Loops into a project, ifthere is also a loop in the project folder of the same name, Logic isn’t referencingthe loop I am dragging, but the incorrect older one in the project folder. Thisis happening often, as Drums On Demand has a file naming system, so that theverse of each song-set is titled consistently, and so on.  So if I have some drums in a project, and Iwant to try different drums, I have to physically copy them to the projectaudio folder, and then drag and drop from the finder, which simple isn’t asfun.
Any Ideas?
Apple, maybe you can fix this in your next update.

I was having a similar problem. I had taken some aif files and converted them successfully into blue apple loops that responded to my songs tempos. they showed up in the loop browser.
However the next day when I tried to convert more audio file, I couldn't repeat the procedure that I did the day before. I'm baffled as to what I did right and now am doing wrong. I even tried opening the Apple Loop utility directly from the Library folder. Its goes through the process of creating the loops, I get to adjust transients and all, but it does not show up in the loops menus when I look for it.

Email disappears after dragging from inbox to subfolder. It is not lost because if it is unread it shows as an unread email in the sub folder. When I set the folder to view # of emails the # of emails shows next to the folder, but the actual emails do not. Also
if the email that is moved to a subfolder has not been read it will show an unread email in the subfolder but still not be able to view the actual email.
This does not happen on all subfolders.

Tried resetting the view on that folder already? You can do this via the View tab.
Otherwise, you'll have to share more details like at least your version of Outlook and type of email account.

  • New iMac is stuck on grey apple screen after restart from Migration Assistant

New iMac is stuck on grey apple screen after startup. It is a 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5 running OS 10.9.4. The problem occurred after a migration from my older 2009 iMac which is running Snow Leopard 10.6.6. When the restart occurred from Migration Assistant, the new computer will not boot up to the login screen. Disk utility did not solve problem. Followed instructions for a soft reinstall of Mavericks but that also did not solve problem. Any suggestions?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Time Machine  Problem with Apple Programs after Restore from A&I

Ok here is my situation. I originally did an Archive and Install before Installing Leopard. I was having performance issues with Photobooth and Time Machine. So, I decided to back everything up and do an Full Restore from Time Machine. I resotred from the Utility menu within the Leopard boot disc. However, after the restore ALL of my Apple programs were missing from Finder and the Dock. Including mail, itunes, photobooth, keynote etc..All iwork, ilife and everything else that came pre bundled. Now, I did an install of Leopard after the Restore (upgrade) and I got the basic apps back. My question now is where my other apps are hiding?? Are they somewhere within the previous system folder from the original Archive and Install?? (I havent been able to check because i'm now at work when the possibility dawned on me)
Does anyone know where these programs would be and how I can restore them?
Also, my prebundled software (Final Cut Express HD) that came pre bundled with My imac G5 originally is asking for a product serial number before it can launch. However, i never had a serial key for it.
Can someone please help and shed some light on this situation.

    Additional Info:
    Imac G5
    1Gb Ram
Original Install was Archive and Install
Did Full Backup With Time Machine
Restore Under Utility in Leopard Boot Disc
    All Apple programs were missing
Did an Upgrade>Install of Leopard after Restore and got back the basic Apps like mail, Garage Band, iTunes etc... However, all iLife was gone as well as Soundtrack and iwork 08...not to mention my Final Cut Express HD now wants a serial # that I do not have because it was pre installed originally with the iMac G5
    Where did these programs go?
How do I get them to restore?
fyi-- My dock where the programs were located (in addition to Applications folder) just had a bunch of ? marks on it where the icons would usually be.
Is it a result of the Archive and Install and the Applications are in the previous system folder?
I cant figure it out because when I search for the programs in FInder all I find is files for the programs and cache files etc... But not the actual Application icon

  • Drag from one Browser pane to another?

Hi. Ap3 (and earlier? -- I don't know) has a potentially useful feature of being able to open multiple panes in the Browser, each pane showing different content. (Page 124 in the Manual. Option+Click an item in the Library tab of the Inspector.) A natural use of this -- to me -- is to open two projects and move images between them. That is apparently not how it works, or else I am doing something wrong. Any help?
    Thanks.

Me too. It's a small annoyance but an annoyance nonetheless.
At least the Project names of the Projects with open Browsers are shown with some kind of highlighting. I can find them easily enough, though I'd rather
. not have the Inspector open, and
. just be able to drag from Browser to Browser.
Thanks for commenting. Glad to know others share my (minor) frustration.

  • 3rd Party AIFF loops tempo changes from loop library and Logic session

    Hi there,
Hope somebody out there can help me out!
I've recently purchased some 3rd party loops, some in AIFF and some in WAV (Which I have converted to AIFF using the Apple Loops Utility), and i have been able to get these into the logic Loop library successfully.....Or so I thought!
The problem I am having is that when previewing one of my loops it's often double the speed that the set tempo, and this will happen to ALL of my loops. But when I drag one into my session, Logic asks if it should copy over the automation data with it, click yes, and it plays fine in the arrange window. And funnily enough, all of my loops in the library start playing at the correct tempo!
Once this has all happened, i've tried quitting logic, and re-opening....but the issue just happens again....
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any idea as to what the issue may be??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Recent photos missing from iPhoto after dragging from Time Machine backup

    Hi,
So I recently got back from a trip, and I imported all 400 photos from three cameras - my Canon, and two Olympus'.
When they were done importing, I also backed up my HD with Time Machine. Everything was fine, I could browse them all - edited a few, etc.
Then I wiped my HD and made a fresh install of OS X, because it was being rather sluggish. I dragged the backed up iPhoto Library (the most latest one from my external HD) to it's new place - opened it up, and the event key image of my trip is blank.
When I open the event, all the photos from the two Olympus' are missing - only remain the pictures from my Canon, and blank placeholders for the Olympus pictures - with titles, sizes and everything.
I went into the package, to see where they could be hiding - and have had no luck finding them (I even did a Finder search for the missing picture names).
What has happened?! Isn't iPhoto meant to store all files in one place when backed up via TM?
    What should I do?

Maybe be a bit more succinct and reference this topic. Here's an alternated backup strategy that might work.
1 - copy the iPhoto Library to your TM hard drive via the Finder.
2 - use a 3rd party backup application like Synk Standard to make incremental backups as needed: after any use of the library for any reason. Incremental backups only copy new or changed files.
3 - once you're confident that the backup is a good one you can go into Time Machine and remove all of the iPhoto Library backups using the Action button in the top bar of the Finder window.
Then you can do your own backups when needed (and don't slack on it!). You can also check the backup by opening it occasionally to make sure all is well.

  • HT6114 Reboot loop after 10.9.2 upgrade

My 2009 (dual-quad) Mac Pro 4,1 is now stuck in a reboot loop after upgrading from 10.9.1 to 10.9.2.
//edit: I realized there wasn't a question: What is wrong with my computer and how do I fix it?
    So far I have tried:
    * Repairing the disk
    * Repairing permissions
    * Zapping the NVRAM/PRAM
    * Resetting SMC
    * Copying BootCache.playlist from a backup to /var/db
Other things to note about my setup:
In addition to the original hard drive, I installed a 4tb drive from which I have been working with since June. It is the 4tb drive that has 10.9.2 installed. The original 650gb still has 10.8.4 installed and all my original data pre-June.
Also installed is a VisionTek Radeon 7870 video card which powers my numerous monitors. I do not recall having to install anything extra, or modify any settings to get it to work. The only downside is you can't really see anything when booting.
In addition to the VisionTek card I also have one of the factory Geforce 120 cards installed. Using another monitor attached to that card I've been able to monitor the boot process using the command-v verbose output.
Of notable interest I get the dreaded "BootCache: unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist : 2" error, along with a few SMC errors. If these are important I can attach pictures taken of the boot process.
I am able to zap the NVRAM and boot the old 10.8.4 650gb drive. It loads fine. 10.9.2 will not boot into safe mode, but will boot into recovery mode.
As a final attempt to fix the BootCache error I copied it from a Time Machine backup into /var/db/ ensuring the correct permissions were set. After rebooting the file is deleted again.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this issue as this is my work computer. I do have full backups via Time Machine so I can reinstall, but I'm hoping there's another solution.

I just started a discussiion related to this topic in "Mac Pro."

" I have a 2009 dual quad core Mac Pro (4.1) with an upgraded Radeon 7950 GPU. I use a 30" Apple Cinema display (DVI) and  a 27" LED Cinema Display (Display Port). After updating to 10.9.2, the Mac would not boot, but went on a continuous re-boot cycle every 5-10 minutes without a flicker of life in either display. I unplugged both displays and the Mac booted. I could log in remotely from my laptop. I then attached the 30" Cinema Display into the DVI port and the Mac booted normally."

  • HT201210 can't restore appleTv after stuck from down load

can't restore apple Tv after stuck from down load

Have you actually tried recovery mode?
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.
    Or DFU mode?
