Logic Studio and Lion

Well I just bit the bullet and bought Lion, just finished installing it and it all seems to work fine.
First thing I noticed, is my iMac i7 now boots by default into a 64bit Kernel. Logic Studio works perfectly fine, as does my RME Babyface.
So all big sighs of relief from me.
The whole OS seems much quicker also, only played with it a little bit It seems a lot better.
I'm sure some third part plugins might have issues, but seeing as I dont have any, thats not a problem for me.

Hi
Which version of Logic Studio (v1=Logic 8, v2= Logic 9)?
The installer for v1 does not run on Lion.

  • Logic Studio and Autotune

I'd like to know if Antares plugin Autotune works with logic Studio, and also if I can use MainStage wih Logic (I mean for instance use MainStage instruments, like a piano, in a Logic project) ?
    Thanx !

Autotune works just fine in Logic Studio. And the instruments in Mainstage are, as far as I know since I haven´t really used MS that much, essentially the same.

José, if you buy and download Logic Pro in App Store now, the best option would be to buy an upgrade to Logic Studio. I don't think Jam Packs are available any more in Apple Store, besides it will be more expensive buying them one by one than upgrading to Studio.

  • Logic Pro, Logic Studio and Logic Express

Can someone explain the difference between Logic Pro, Logic Studio and Logic Express?

    Hi,
I don't think your friend is right on this. When you install Logic X, only the most essential part will be downloaded. After that you open Logic X, and from within the program  you can download all the other content. Logic will look if you already have Logic 9 content on your harddisk, so it won't download files that are already present. So, after all is downloaded, all files are on your harddisk, just like Logic 9. By the way, Logic 9 will still be available after installing Logic X.
Whether you will experience crashes will be very hard to prodect, because these will be caused by unforeseen combinations of your computer, audio interfaces, maybe even other hardware, kernel extensions etcetera. If you wait for a couple of months, updates of Logic X will probably have less crashes. As said, on my computer it's just as solid as Logic 9.
Garittan will probably advise a fast harddisk to prevent complaints when people are pushing the plugin to the edge. I would expect that it's not a black/white story.
The AUMatrixreverb can be found in any audio plugin slot completely at the bottom: Audio Units > Apple > AUMatrixReverb.
About the Epiano: in Logic Express there is only the Garageband Epiano, I think. Logic Pro 9 had a great ePiano that they gave a new name and changed a bit in Logic X. Both very nice.
Yes, you may be right, not too many drums with brushes in Logic X, I think. Or does anybody else know where to look??
    Kind regards,
    Jaap

  • Installing and Using Logic Studio and Final Cut Studio 2 On the Same iMac

In March of this year, I switched from being a long-time user of PC's to a 24 in. 2.4 GHZ iMac. In late May I purchased Final Cut Studio 2 and Aperture and have greatly enjoyed using both of these applications on my iMac. Both run with no problems under Leopard which I installed shortly after it came out. I am now considering the purchase of Logic Studio since I have enjoyed midi sequencing and audio editing for years on my PC's but wish now to do this on my iMac.
I note that two of the applications included in Logic Studio (Soundtrack Pro 2 and Compressor 3) are a part of the Final Cut Studio 2 suite of programs that I already have installed on my iMac. How will Logic Studio handle this issue when I run the install of that software, i.e. will it be aware that I already have Soundtrack Pro 2 and Compressor 3 and just have those install options grayed out or will it overwrite my FCS2 installation of those two applications? Are there other issues or conflicts between Aperture or Final Cut Studio 2 applications and Logic Studio that I should know before installing Logic Studio?
Thank you very much in advance for responding, and I look forward to reading this forum from this point onward.
    Tom

Thanks again for your prompt responses, blayzay. I look forward to getting and installing Logic Studio. If anyone has any precautions on using it with FCS2 or with Leopard, please add a comment to this thread.

  • Logic Studio and MacBook Pro

I'm looking into purchasing a new MacBook Pro and wanted to make sure of something. I want to get Logic Studio for work purposes, and even though the tech specs match up, is it too much for a MacBook? I mostly need the mobility and don't want to have it tied down to a desktop system.
    Thank you.

I'm running Logic Studio on a late 208 unibody Macbook Pro without issue, so should work fine

  • Installed Logic Studio and Error

I upgraded Logic Express 8 to Logic Studio 9 last night on a 2007 Intel Mac and clicked on all install options. It took a long time, but it is running fine even though at the end of the installation it said that a major error had occurred; however, I don't believe it ever asked me to install the 3rd Jam Pack Cd. Is there a way to check which of the jam packs were installed and how do I install those that were nott?
    Thanks in advance

I managed to install CD1 and CD3. It seems like CD2 is defected. Creating a Disc Image did not work.
Why it didn't work with the Disc image? It should..unless the disc is completely unrecognized-unreadable by the system or the dvd/cd-rom is very sensitive
    Did the .dmg created correctly?
In Disk Utility, click to select the DVD,click New Image on the Disk Utility toolbar.
In the Pop-up dialogue, name it and select the destination you'd like to save it (Desktop).
    Click Save .
    When done,
go to Desktop and either click to open it or ctrl-click(right click) and select>Open With>Disk Image Mounter
leave it mounted until the Logic Pro installer finish the installation (hopefully it will )
I was really looking forward to using the symphony instruments. I wonder what the return policy is for 1 disc in the online apple store.
    Call Apple Support,
    they should send a replacement..
Thanks once again. I was able to add CD3 thanks to you.
    You're welcome

  • HOW TO UNISTALL ENTIRE LOGIC STUDIO AND REINSTALL ?!!

I need to uninstall Logic Studio for my computer, and reinstall.
What I need to move to trash ?!

That is always the hard question to answer. Just deleting app's on Mac's tends to leave a boatload of hidden files and plists. I use a file search utility that will check hidden files and search common parts of the app name. Then there are utilities that will do a pretty good job of deleting app's. Do a Google search and you should find one that you like.
I wish Apple would make a Logic uninstall app, better yet I wish all Mac app's had uninstall programs.

  • Aargh! Just upgraded to Logic Studio and can't run Mainstage!

I just upgraded to Tiger and to Logic Studio. I know that my pitiful machine needs to go to someone else who doesn't use these apps, but I'm a working joe! I read the minimum requirements for LP8 and just met them. I guess I should'nt have assumed that mainstage couldn't require more assets than LP8! Anyhow it says that Mainstage needs: 1280 x 800 resolution, Open GL?, & 64MB VRAM. Does anyone know any hacks to get around these requirements, and would it crash the system? Also what is OpenGL anyhow?
    -Thanks

You didn't mention what machine you have, but the requirements for MainStage are:
    - Mac OS 10.4.9 with QuickTime 7.1.5 or later
    - at least 900MB RAM
    - 1024x768 screen resolution
    - and a reasonably new graphics card
There is no way to hack around these, because they are requirements. However 1280x800 is not required, but highly recommended (hence the warning at launch time), but if the graphics card is not compatible (too old), there is nothing you can do about it! All machines that are described on the box are compatible with MainStage. The machine is probably also too slow for MainStage anyway.

  • Im installing logic studio and its asking me for an original SN?

I put in my Product serial number then it asks me to put in my original serial number. I have no idea where that number is. No number Ive used has worked so far.

Did you buy an upgrade to Logic Studio? If so, you need to enter the old serial number first and then the application will ask you for the upgrade number. Also make sure you type it correctly 0 = Zero and O = Ohhh, etc.

  • Workability of Logic Studio and

I'm thinking about getting whatever the current version of Logic Studio is (9?).  If I do and am writing with someone who's using Logic Pro 7, will will be able to import and work on each other's files or will there will be certain things that won't translate from 7 up to 9 or from 9 down to 7?

    Hi

Do you know if there is a "save as" type command in Logic that would allow me to save the 9 files down to a 7 version
There is no such function in Logic.
Your best solution depends wheteher you need to keep any MIDI /Software Instrument tracks available in the transfer.
Logic 9 has  'Export all Tracks as audio files" functions, which would allow you to create audio files that could be imported into v7. You may also need to export a MIDI file (possibly with any MIDI parts) to get the tempo/Time signature maps.

  • Pro App Serial Problem - Final Cut Studio Logic Studio and Soundtrack

    Installed Logic Studio 8

    both include Soundtrack.
now Soundtrack has the academic splash screen.
If i wanted to... how can i assign soundtrack to my logic studio serial?
would i have to reinstall soundtrack? is there any situation where this would matter?
    i don't know.
    thanks everyone.

I wouldn't worry about it. The program is exactly the same whether it thinks it's an academic version or not, and I can't think of any other reason why this would make any difference.
If you really wanted to see whether you could get it connected back to Logic, go to HD/Library/Application Support/Pro Apps, and dump the file that says 'Logic Studio System ID.' This is the file that holds your Logic serial number. Next time you load Logic, put your serial number in again and it will create a new Logic Studio System ID file. When you do this it will make the Logic System ID file newer than the FC System ID file, and maybe Soundtrack will be connected to this one instead of FC's. But again, don't worry about it - it really makes no difference at all.
