Logic Studio - Packaging

Hi,
I am looking to remotely deploy Logic studio (including additional content). We have Mac OS-X server running with PackageMaker and Apple Remote Desktop 3.5. I have managed to make a package to deploy the standard package for Logic Studio, but I am unsure how to create a package to include the additional content and also pre-fill the licence key. Does anyone have a guide which may be of use? I am relatively new to macs, especially the server side, and could do with some advice. the logical process seems quite different to the before and after snap shots used with msi creation.
Regards,
Si

The standard packages are not the problem (well, meaning: it is technically possible to deploy them), but the serial number is stored in a machine specific. You need a Logic Studio Volume License for deployment to several machines.

  • Installing Logic Express from Logic Studio Package

Does any user, or Apple, know if it's possible to performa a Logic Express installation from my Logic Studio package, i.e. not the whole Studio installation, but the limited version?
    TIA,
    -gg

In the installer simply untick everything you can untick and you should be able to do a "skeleton" install of about 7.5 GB. It'll still be Logic Pro though, not express. But installing the app only is not possible, some content +cannot be deselected+ in the installer.

  • How to install quicktime 7 pro from logic studio

    hello people.
I have installed Logic express 9 and then upgraded it to Logic Studio. Logic site do state that quicktime 7 pro is included in the Logic studio package. I have installed everything from the dvds, but i don't see quicktime 7 pro appearing anywhere. Anyone know about this?

Logic Studio may only "key" the QT 7 player for "Pro" use. I.e., Apple is very touchy about others distributing their software. In any case, I suspect Logic Studio may expect QT 7 v7.6.6 to already be installed on you your system in its default "Applications > Utilities" folder location. If it is not there, then you will have to download it manually at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923 and run the installer since QT X v10.2 (included with Mountain Lion) cannot be upgraded for "Pro" use.

The reason I asked is because I don't understand how you managed to install 9.1.1 on your iMac...
So... out of curiosity, as you didn't actually answer the question... how did you install 9.1.1 on your Mac given the DVD version is 9.0.0?
    As to your questions...
You may install Logic Pro 9 from the Logic Studio package legally on one desktop and one laptop you own... as per the Logic Studio license terms and conditions..
However, had you purchased Logic Pro 9 via the App store, rather than via the boxed edition of Logic Studio 2.0..   that licence, is different and allows you to install LP9 on any number of computers you own for your own private use.. using your Apple ID and the purchased tab of the Mac App Store application.
If you feel Apple should have done a better job in notifying you about the requirements of Logic Pro 9  in reference to the 9.1.6 update being needed under Mountain Lion, why don't you contact them and tell them... via the feedback form,
    https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html
because Apple isn't here in any real sense..... and therefore won't read your comments or respond

  • Difference between logic studio n logic express 9, difference between logic studio n logic express 9

What's the diff between  logic studio and lodic express 9? If i were to get either 1 of it, which Mac Pro shld i get? 13" or 15"

    Hi,
Logic Studio: Logic Pro 8, Soundtrack Pro and MainStage.
So yes, Logic Pro 8 is part of the 'Logic Studio' package, which also contains the two other apps.
    http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/
Take a look at the Logic Pro 8/Logic Studio forum. There are mixed opinions on whether it is worth upgrading yet or not.
    Good Luck!

  • Not able to install Logic on mac with OSX.  10.8.2. Error message: Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported. I have logic studio 8 software purchased in 2007 and upgraded with logic studio 9 (purchased in 2009)

After an earlier attempt to move Logic from my other mac (OSX 10.6.8) with the migration assistant to my new mac with OSX 10.8.2. I've re-started the whole start up process by erasing the hard drive from the new machine and build it up from scratch. After a new "out of the box" start, I decided to install LOGIC from my disks : starting with my 2007 package Logic Studio 8 and upgrading with my Logic 9 package from 2009. When trying to start to install 2008 I got the error message : Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported.
What does this mean? HOw do I get this working under 10.8.2 as it works flawlessly under OSX 10.6.8. For sure I didn't buy a new machine to have OSX 10.8.2 but I suspect this is the roadblock to installing my logic package.
    Help!

    Mark,
    Sorry...
I completely lost the thread (I actually got confused between you and another poster on a another forum that was asking the same basic question) and somehow ended up thinking you were trying to install on a PPC Mac
My apologies and please ingnore those parts of my last post relating to the PPC Macs...
You have an Intel Mac and therefore Logic Studio 2 Boxed Upgrade set should install/run on your Mac without issue. As I said earlier.. you do not need to try and install from the original Logic Studio 1 /Logic 8 Boxed set...(It won't work anyhow because you have an Intel Mac and that version had a PPC installer)  but just install from the Logic Studio 2 / Logic Pro 9 Upgrade Boxed setof DVDs instead...
Have you tried the "Make Disk Image" solution I gave earlier? That normnally works under such circumstances as what you are describing can happen when your DVD drive cannot read the DVDs correctly... I have had this situation myself where one drive read them okay and another failed to do so for whatever reason. Making and then installing from Disk images of those exact same disks resolved the issue for me...
You can try to reinstall directly from the DVDs of course though under some circumstances it may not allow you to reinstall Logic Pro itself if that part of the original installation attempt was successful... in which case you can also try this... (It's probably the easiest method if Logic 9 was already installed and present in your Apps Folder)
If the Logic Pro App is in your applications folder..
Run Software Updates to update Logic Pro to a version that will run under 10.8.2 (The initially installed version of Logic will not)
    Run Logic
Go to the menu bar in Logic and select Logic Pro/Install Additional Content and select all content in there..
This content is basically exactly the same as what is stored on the remaining DVDs of the boxed set so you might not need to use the rest of the DVDs to install from but download it all instead from Apple Servers...

  • Why wont my Logic Studio installer fully install?

i had manually uninstalled logic studio months ago.. now that i have an external hd im installing it again but it wont install many of the other components.. they are grayed out and uncheckable (soundtrack pro, compressor, apple loops, and many more)... i need help so that i can have logic studio on my mac and the additional content on my external hd...
    thanks in advance!

Although not offically supported, there is a workaround people have been using to get Logic 8 to work on Lion. All you need to do is highlight the Logic 8 app in finder, right-click, select "Show Package Contents", double click on the "Contents" folder and inside of this folder is a folder that's labled "MacOs." If you double-click on the "Logic Pro" file inside, Logic 8 will open. You might be able to make an alias of this file to cut out the other steps, but I haven't tried it.
This works for people who already had Logic 8 installed and upgraded to Lion.

  • Logic Studio 2.0 purchased off Ebay... came with Logic Express 9 upgrade instead of full version, serial works to unlock registration but seems wrong and perhaps a loophole.  What should I do?

I purchased what was advertised as a Full Version of Logic Studio 2 off ebay.  It ended up being Logic Studio Pro 2 Upgrade and came with a copy of Logic Express 9 upgrade which did unlock the installation.  I didn't realize it was the upgrade version til I saw the sticker in the upright corner of the box post installation.  I feel like this is a loophole and not a legitimate installation now.    Is this legit or should I acquire a full copy of Logic Express?  The seller continously tells me that it's 100% legal and legit, etc..  I have already demanded he should send me or reimburse me enough to acquire a legitimate copy of Logic Express that supports the upgrade.  Am I right in doing so?  Or is it okay to use the Logic Express 9 upgrade copy to upgrade to Logic Studio Pro 2?  Doesn't seem right.  I'm very confused and would love some advice.  Thank you in advance.

The Logic Express 9 upgrade package requires you should own Logic Express 8 Full.... for that to be a legal use of the Logic Express 9 upgrade serial which then you could use to register LP9/Logic Studio 2.0 upgrade package using the LS2.0 upgrade serial..
This is an apparent loophole, in my opinion, that is being exploited by the seller....
However, when in any doubt with anything regarding possible legal issues... contact Apple directly and ask them for their advice/opinion on the matter.

  • How to install Logic Studio on a G5?

I had problems to install logic studio on my G5. In fact it tells me i don't have enough "coulors", i'd need 32 millions. And i need a Quartz extreme card : is it possible to install all this to install logic studio then?

I really don't know if this will help at all, but try unchecking Mainstage in the installer. Mainstage requires different graphic capabilities, and it's possible that if your G5 doesn't meet those capabilities, it is keeping you from installing the whole package. Perhaps it will allow you to install the other programs if you aren't installing Mainstage.
    Good Luck!

  • How to uninstall logic studio

    hellow...
I have installed the logic studio install disk 1 and disided i dont need it.
I erazed the apps but stuck with 7 gb contant of this disk and i have no idea how to get rid of it whitout erazing an importent system files...
I sarched the net and found a very complicated ways of deleting and whitout geranty it w'ont ****** up my other apps.
Does anyone have an idea what to do???
And how it can be, that a super company like apple didnt thougt to put an uninstaller in her on software?!?!
This is one of the things that puts her os behind (i still love it).
I'm an engeniring software student and one of the most importent things we learned is to clean our on garbge.
    thanks...
**Sorry for my bad english i'm from Israel (and apple d'ont realy care of a little contry like mine to open a sopport in hebrew).

You need to delete the application, delete the Application Support/Logic folder, delete the installed jam pack loops and instrument content (which get installed to your GB libary AppSupport/Garageband), then you also need to check the AppSupport/Audio folders for things like impulses and preset settings.
Check both system and user app support trees - by default, Logic will install preset content into the system areas.
This will get rid of the core stuff - if you really want a full list, you need to go into your package receipts, as there are a lot of other support frameworks and packages that also get installed by default (Applications like Soundtrack Pro, Mainstage, support apps like the loop utility, Compressor, and all kinds of video frameworks, Quicktime and other stuff).
There isn't a quick "uninstall" option.
So I really don't recommend a "clean" uninstall at all, just remove the content.
What version of Windows do you recommend, if you want to use Windows
apps on your mac ? (XP ? Vista ?)
Why are you asking me? I can't stand Windows, and have no idea of what windows applications you want to run.

  • Logic Studio Won't Install...

    Apple says:
    • Mac computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4 processor (PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor highly recommended)
    (I have a G4 AGB at 1.5GHz)
    • 1GB of RAM (2GB or more highly recommended)
    (I have 1GB)
    • Display with 1024-by-768 resolution (1280-by-800 or higher recommended)
    (Yup)
    • Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later
    (10.4.10)
    • QuickTime 7.2 or later
    (Yup)
    • DVD drive for installation
    (Yup)
    • PCI Express, ExpressCard/34, USB, or FireWire based audio interface recommended
    (ProTools HD|2 Accel on PCI)
    Available Disk Space
    • 7GB to install all applications and required content
    • Additional 39GB to install all optional content (large content packages can be installed on separate disk):
    – 10GB for Jam P
    (Yup)
When I open the installer it tells me Alert:
My Video card is recommended to have more VRAM than I have.
My Video card is not recommended Open GL, doesn't do recommended Quartz.
I don't have recommended 2 GB of RAM
So when I press close on the alert, the installer quits.
I can't install any portion of Logic Studio (all I want to install is Logic 8 Pro).
These requirements aren't listed on the Logic Studio minimum requirements page or on the box or in the literature...So what gives? Can I or can't I run Logic 8 on my AGP Graphics G4 1.5 Ghz machine with 1 GB RAM?

  • Final Cut Studio & Logic Studio upgrade issue

I am mainly audio based but have been working on projects more recently with Final Cut Studio 2 to deal with the video. As I use both Logic Studio 8 and Soundtrack Pro 2 a lot, and Final Cut Pro less, I plumped for the upgrade to Logic Studio which also contains STP 3 and Compressor 3.5 which seemed the right thing to do.
However the install info and dvd doesn't want you to install STP 3 or Compressor 3.5 if you have Final Cut Studio 2 as they "contain updated components that are incompatible with Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier. If the Logic Studio installer detects Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier on your system, it automatically deselects the checkboxes for Soundtrack Pro and Compressor in the Custom Install pane."
Personally I didn't want to run to the expense of upgrading Final Cut as I don't use Motion, Colour or Cinema Tools and although I am working heavily in DVD Studio Pro they haven't done anything to upgrade that application (boo!)
So what's the deal? Am I unable to upgrade ST Pro to version 3 and also unable to benefit from the upgraded Compressor even though I've actually paid for an upgrade that promised me these options, and no mention until I'd opened the package that there would be any incompatibility issues with Final Cut Studio 2!
Anyone know what these 'incompatible components' are?
Sounds like sharp practice and bad product integration to me...

I just spoke with someone in Apple Reseller Channel Sales and he told me that what is shipping now is strictly the Universal version. So, if you order a Final Cut Studio Upgrade from FCP HD ($699 retail, IIRC), you will receive the FCS Universal version in the big box with all the docs.

  • Recording with Logic Studio

I've been reading post here trying to decide what to replace my current system with. Up until recently I've been running Logic Studio on a G4 powermac dual 1.25 with 2 gigs of ram. Logic on the main 120 drive. My tracks/files etc. on a secondary internal 120gig HD.
I record one audio track at a time.
A completed song on average consists of about 12 to no more than 24 tracks. Most of which are audio with plug-ins. often a track perhaps two with software instrument. Usually all audio tracks.
My question is wouldn't the white Macbook 2ghz core duo with 4 gigs of ram be able to run Logic with little or no problem. Let's say I record my tracks to an external 7200rpm HD, using Apogee's Duet as an interface? I know there is only 1 firewire port. Could I piggyback somehow?
Would recording to the 5400rpm drive really be that bad? I use to record audio on an original iMac 233mhz with a 5400 HD granted that was sometime ago and it was not using Logic.
I must say I have been looking at Macbook Pro, but like many others... I'm not sure I'm willing to bite the bullet. I know one should buy as much computer as they can... I think I would rather get another desktop at those prices.
I would like the mobility to record wherever and whenever I want to, keeping things as simple as possible. Within budget of course... I'm just wondering if the macbook would work for me.

After loading some completed songs which consisted of about 20 tracks (mostly audio/1 software instrument).. Logic worked beautifully. I had a real hard time mixing on my G4 desktop. With the plug-ins and amount of tracks the G4 Dual 1.25 was choking. "disk not fast enough, error.. yatta yatta.." The dual processors where simply being maxed out. The Macbook Pro 2.6ghz was using about a third of its power. A much more pleasant experience the the Macbook Pro and the Apogee duet.
With my apartment being my studio... not being tied to the desktop in wonderful. I can now record/work in any room.
Yes it is the same version of Logic Studio (Logic 8) I used on my desktop G4. Allowed 2 installs one desktop/one laptop with Logic. Didn't have to intall LE7. Simple put in the serial # when prompted. Took a few hours to load all the content from the Studio package.

  • Additional sounds available from Logic Studio?

Can I get the sounds packaged with Logic Studio for Logic Express?

You can buy all the Jam Packs separately if you wanted to, but that would cost $499 and still not have everything Logic Pro comes with.
Its cheaper to just buy the $299 upgrade to Logic Studio with all the Jam Packs bundled together as well as additional sounds on top of that (extra 4 softsynths + Bosendorfer EXS24 preset).

  • HT2375 Logic pro - Logic studio

Hi! Is it possible for me to use my library-dvds from Logic Studio 8, when installing Logic Pro 9?

The thing is that I've heard that if you've allready got LS8 installed, LP9 will automatically replace or work beside LS8. And they are able to share jam&audio. But in my case its a new installation, where my new mac doesn't accept my "powerPC Logic8". So my real question should have been. Can I buy LP9, install it, and hope it will ask for jam&audio-disks. And if that is the case, will it accept/communicate with my old LS8 -disks? Ooooor, do I have to buy the whole Logic Studio 9 -package? Thanks for all the help btw...
