Logic unexpected quit now project won't open???

So, I'm working in a project for about three hours and Logic quits as I clicked to open the audio editor. It is a memory issue. I only have 4GB... But now I can't open the project because it quits every time. What to do???

Thanks SC. I'll try that next time. I was able to open the project in 64bit mode. If I tried to do anything other than play the project it would crash...so I exported the stems into a new project and finished my edits.

Lost Power - Now Project Won't Open!

I'm working on an iMac (10.10.2) with an external hard drive.
I was working on the project and some construction next door caused the power to go out. Now the project won't open. Every time I try to open it, the program crashes. I can open other projects from the same hard drive, just not the project that I was working on.
HELP!

IIf that opens, then go into the Original Media folders and look through all the clips and see if they're OK. Any clip that has an actual image that appears in the Finder should be OK. Any clip that has a generic QT icon may be corrupted. See if it will open in the QT player. You can also use QuickLook in the Finder and step through the files in the list to see if the run.
if you were titling also check through all the Fonts on your system and make sure none have generic document icons.

Replaced an asset and now project won't open

I was finishing up some subtitles when I noticed an audio problem that needed to be corrected.
So I saved my DVDSP4 project, quit the program, then made a quick audio cut in FCP. The amount of audio cut was less than a second. And because I cut my audio, I had to make a cut in my video.
Then I exported using Compressor (DVD Best Quality - 90 mins). I saved over the original asset, figuring I could save some time and have DVDSP automatically update the altered asset.
That was my mistake. I've spent the better part of two days adding subtitles to this project, and now the frigging thing won't open.
When I opened the DVDSP project file, all my windows are missing excpect for the Palette and Inspector windows. The majority of menu options from the menu bar couldn't be accessed.
However, when I open DVDSP from my dock, it opens up, all the windows are there, and the menu bar is fully functional. When I try to open the project file I've been working on using File>Open and File>Open Recent, I lose my windows and functionality.
Any suggestions as to correct the problem?

If Houghts' suggestion doesn't clear the problem initially, you could try going back a stage (in FCP).
First make a copy of your new .m2v & sound files with a different name, and also the DVD SP project.
Next open the edited film in FCP. Assuming you have the sequence for the previous edit, redo the playout with the same settings and name you that had originally, and without the one second cut. Overwrite the originally named files with these. Exit FCP. Delete all the PAR files and prefs for DVD SP again, as per Houghts above.
Now try opening your project - since the assets referred to are the same length as before, there's a chance that DVD SP won't get confused, and will re-link to them.
If it opens, you are back on track and can import the new versions, replace, then delete, as per Houghts above.

IPhoto quit unexpectedly and now it won't open

I just had to have my OS erased and rewritten on my Macbook Pro at the genius bar yesterday, so today I am restoring all of my files and settings. I figured out how to open up iPhoto, and while I was backing up the pictures on an external hard drive (just to be sure!), it quit unexpectedly. The next time I tried to open up iPhoto, the library seemed to have disappeared from my mac, I found the iPhoto app in a really strange location, and when I try to open it, it says that I need to update to the newest version of iPhoto, and when I launch the upgrade, it says: "Unable to write to library 'iPhoto Library" Check that you have permission to write to the library directory. From there the only option is to click "Cancel" and iPhoto shuts down immediately.
I have tried to open the application using the Control + Option method, and have tried to perform every repair & rewrite in the menu, but every time it tells me that I am having permission errors.
Any advice?

I had the whole library backed up, that's how I was able to open it to begin with, but then once it closed unexpectedly, opening that library just sends me back to the slieu of error messages... I also have the actual photos backed up though, if I could just get iPhoto to open. It seems like my mail is quitting unexpectedly too...I may need to just bring it back to the Genius bar...

Upgraded to FCP 6.0.2 - now projects won't open

I recently installed the update, actually last week, was gone for a week, come back to begin work again and none of my projects open, FCP just quits, no error, no nothing. It just shuts down. Anyone have any ideas?

I hate to be the one to say this but most people including me reinstall the OS and FCS2 from scratch. FCS2 is not like most Mac apps. It installs deep in the OS. Do a search on installing FCS2 and you will see all the problems folks are having with upgrading.
Here is how I installed FCS2.
1. Used superduper to clone boot drive
2. Got all program disks ready to go.
3. I Made disk images of all the programs I have on disk and put them in a folder on an external drive. Loads the programs faster this way and now I have a backup. I also made sure I had all the downloaded programs I bought like flipfactory in that same folder
4. Did a clean install of Tiger. (for me Leopard is not ready yet. Its sitting on my desk.) Keep the external drive with the clone of your drive plugged in to you Mac.
5. After the install was finished I used Migration Assistant to move all USER settings and network settings only from the cloned drive. DONT MOVE THE PROGRAMS OVER WITH THE ASSISTANT.
6. Repaired permissions
7. Updated Tiger to last update 10.4.11. Be careful not to update Quicktime to 7.4 I use 7.3.1 with no problems. Do a search on quicktime and you will see why.
8. Install software and keep repairing permissions along the way. and doing software updates.
9. Drank a nice cold brew and was happy that I now have a clean install and my FCS2 works perfectly.
I know this is a pain in the a*s but it sure beats troubleshooting issue's you cant fix and can now just enjoy editing

Forced iTunes to quit now it won't open anymore and it took Quicktime down

I moved my iTunes files over when I got a new computer and I have added a lot to of new material since then. Recently I plugged my iPod into the old computer to access it's hard drive and, much to my surprise, it was still authorized for the old iTunes and it immediatly tried to synchronize. This of course meant that it began deleting all the new files on my iPod (like about 400 new songs) that I had added with the other computer.
In a panic I pushed the COMMAND-Period combination and escape and just about any other of the familiar commands to stop something like that from continuing. I think it was a forced quit that finally stopped it and that action might have been a mistake. Ever since then iTunes will no longer open and it took Quicktime down with it.
Every other application opens just fine but now when I try to open iTunes or Quicktime player they just hang. The icon bounces in the dock and the little black triangle appears below it but the application never actually opens. It doesn't quit itself, it just hangs there in a half open state and only a forced quit will stop it from hanging there forever. If I am in the finder when I open it I sometimes get an endless beach ball.
I completely deleted the music and library files, I deleted all the preferences, I even completely deleted both applications and everything I could find related to them and re-installed them both from scratch. Nothing has worked so far and I'm beginning to wonder if something went haywire in the operating system related to these programs.
Another odd glitch that I have noticed in attempting to fix this issue is that the Disk utility is failing when I try to verify or repair permissions. It goes about half way through the process and then claims it cannot continue. I've never seen that before and I'm not sure if it's related.
Does anyone have any idea what I have done to my computer and how to get this issue fixed? I'm getting ready to completely reinstall the operating system but that seems a bit drastic.
Any other ideas?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

start Logic, immediately press ctrl key. Say "No" to starting coreaudio. Correct your setting, quit Logic, restart Logic.

Logic Unexpectedly Quits / Conflict with Motomix control surface

Logic unexpectedly quits when I try to open a new song.
So I installed ProApplicationSupport and I trashed the Logic preferences. But it didn´t help.
But I found out, that Logic does not have this problem
- after deleting in Logic the control surface for the CM Motormix that I use in my setup; no problem with other control surfaces (But having the same problem again after reinstalling the control surface for the Motormix)
or
- launching Logic with another user (I am working with the admin user)
What can I do?

My old logic 9 projects won't open properly in logic X

My old logic 9 projects won't open properly in logic X, even after saving as logic X files with all of the assets. None of the audio files are there, nor any of the data. It is just a blank project. Any ideas?
