Logic/Waves/Lion

Hi I'm currently running Logic 9.1.5 on my 2009 MacBook Pro. My operating system is Snow Leopard 10.6.8 . I use Waves 7 and 8 plugins (Mercury bundle) I want to upgrade to a new MacBook as mine is no longer powerful enough for my recording projects. Obviously a new MacBook would come with OSX Lion, so would Logic and waves plugins work ok? Many thanks.

Your welcome. Let me just add one thing, the same bugs or idosynices which exist in Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with Logic still exist in Lion. Lion doesn't improve or make them worst. The 32bit AU bridge/manager in Logic 64 bit sometimes crashes (which is why I stay with 32 bit if using 32 bit plugins). This isn't a Waves and Logic thing, it's Logic.
One annoyance unique to Lion in Logic 64 bit occurs in "Full Screen" mode. When you open the interface to a plugin in the 32bit bridge, because it's another "app" you swipe out of Logic and into the 32 bit manager. Logic doesn't close and you can swipe back into it, but it is still distracting.

Vertical Pinch Zoom with Logic 9 & Lion

Trying to figure out an easy way to do a vertical zoom in Logic 9 and Lion
Back in the old days (last week) when I used logic 8 and lepoard, it was easy with cntl up/dn (or something like that, my fingers know the routine)
The pinch work fine for horizontal zoom with the new setup, but how do I do a vertical zoom? (The old cntl/up thing doesnt seem to work any longer.)

So far, everything seems as stable as before. Which doesn't actually mean its rock solid, but otherwise workable. I'm running a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP with beta audio drivers. So far, everything is running well. I decided to jump into the 64bit work environment with Logic. I have yet to encounter huge problems with the 32bit audio bridge. Just making sure I bounce everything that is 32bit.
As for everything else within Logic, I can't say I hate Lion. Matter of fact, Lion seems buggier than Logic at the moment. Logic handles well in Lion, but Lion on its own overall is a different can of worms. I am mixed about a 10.7.1 update. Usually, it fixes something on the OS, but breaks something else in Logic.
I have faith that Lion will turn out to be as solid as Snow Leopard. SL was my favorite OSX so far. Lion still leaves allot to be desired in terms of stability.
Again, answer to your question: for me, Logic and Lion play nice.............for now.

i have logic pro 9.1.1 and no open with lion os x said YOU CAN'T USE THIS VERSION OF THE APPLICATION LOGIC PRO WITH THIS VERSION OF MAC OS. I chage the 32bit to 64bit and nothing,somebody can help me please.

Does Logic on Lion offer any advantages over Snow Leopard? Which is more stable?

Thanks for your replies. I have a new Mac Pro and are about to make a brand new install of Logic. As this is a serious time commitiment, because of all my 3rd party plug-ins, software instruments, sample libraries and loops, I want to choose the right OS from the start so I don't have to re-do it again. I have 10.6.8 on my old machine and that has been working well.
My original plan was to wait for 10.8 and do it then. But now I've read a lot of posts saying people are having trouble on 10.7. For obvious reasons, I would prefer to be on the newest OS, but not at the expense of bugs and glitches. I'm also worried that some of my 3rd party stuff won't work on 10.8. Is there a compatibility list somewhere?
I've been with Logic for almost 20 years now, and my experience has always been that it's usually wise to stay behind at least one OS version, in order to get stability and full compatibility with 3rd party plug-ins and drivers.
Is there any advatage with 10.7 or 10.8 over 10.6 in the way assigning RAM to sample instruments is handled?

Logic mountain lion

Hi, after the upgrade to Mountain Lion, I have some problems with Logic Pro expecially with its plug-ins..
Every time I open one Logic's plug-in it doesn't answer to my command and I can't change parameters..
I can't also Stop the song and I must wait everytime the end of the entire song..
I found a short way to resolve that but it's not a right way..
I open the Dashboard pages and then I return to the Logic pages and everything works..
I know that this problem is the same for some peoples...
I'm waiting for your help or for an Apple's upgrade..

It is entirely the decision of the 3rd-party software developer - hence, his responsibility - which OS and its versions his software or plug-in is compatible with.
You are mentioning that you have contacted them, and that's the best, if not the only, thing you can do other than sit and wait.
The other way around, if you depend on 3rd-party software or plug-ins, it's always wise to make sure that their versions are up-to-date and fully functional with a new OS before you switch to it. Sorry, but you having been lucky in the past doesn't mean it must always be so. And sorry again, but you can't blame Mountain Lion or Apple for it...

Logic 9 Lion Clips and Notes issue

Hi,
After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion I have now a really annoying bug in Logic Pro 9.
When I click and drag clips (on tracks) or notes (in the keyboard view), the clip/note movement is not shown. When I release the mouse button: the clip/note is moved, but the problem is that I can't "target well" where I want to put it.
Is there a way to fix that?

Altiverb 6 not working in Logic/ Mountain Lion

I just bought the new 27" iMac and used Migration Assistant to transfer over all my stuff from the old iMac. In the past this has always proved successful, but I'm experiencing some problems with Logic. Specifically, Altiverb ( 6 ) won't work, no matter what I try, and I've done all the usual Audio Ease-recommended "tricks", like opening Logic in 32 Bit and manually getting the AU manager to pass Altiverb. In the past this always worked, but not so in Mountain Lion. In fact I tried downloading Altiverb and the IR installer, to reinstall, but they refuse install in Mountain Lion! I keep getting error messages on both counts.So far, so bad, then.In all other respects Logic seems to be fine, though I haven't actually run it yet; but I mean that other third party plugins work fine.
So, while I'm waiting for a reply from Audio Ease support, I wondered if anyone out there had an answer to what might be happening here,please? It's puzzling and annoying. I heard bad things about ML and Logic, but, then, I also heard that everything is OK from other quarters. Right now, I'm on the fence, because other plugins seem fine, though the Kontakt Memory Server doesn't want to work in ML right now.
I understand that one will usually encounter some issues when starting out on a new OS, but I really never had any problems like this in the past, even when using Migration Assistant....

Apple released Lion but I find the information concerning the tandem Lion-Logic very sparse...
To install Lion or not using LogicPro,that is the question...I use a lot of 3dparty plug-ins but somebody told me that with Lion-Logic Pro you can only use 64bit plug-ins....
Anyone got some info?? Come-on Apple!!

Did they drop 32-bit bridge because it uses Rosetta? Or just because they felt like it?
I'm pretty disappointed with Apple over their recent decisions (like Final Cut X). And before anyone says "but no one is forcing you to upgrade", well, I have no plans to upgrade my 30+ users - but if I need to buy a new machine for one or more of them, it will probably come with Lion pre-installed. Will it be able to run Snow Leopard? I don't know yet, but I bet the answer will soon be "no". That will be a major blow to my company, although it will likely boost the market for used machines.
Maybe our situation is somewhat unique, but, as content creators, we are often asked to go back and revise or rework older tracks, sometimes years old. When I can't run the software instruments on those tracks (because they are 32-bit, or PPC, or whatever), then I have to recreate some or all of the tracks from scratch, and that is a huge time waster. Long after the PPC to Intel transition, I had to keep some G5's around just for this purpose. Now I will have to keep machines running Snow Leopard around, probably indefinitely.

IPOD just shuts down when playing a logic wav. . .

Hi.
If i bounce from Logic as a wav and put the file in iTunes, the iPOD shuts down. Its always done this and i just got a new iPOD and it does the same.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Check the sample rate and bitrate against what the iPod is able to play.

Logic pro lion

I am looking for another iMac A1224 ,to run Logic pro 8 .On my present Imac OSX 10.5.8 (leopard ) all is well .
I am noticing available Imacs upgraded to snow leopard /lion + etc . :are there any problems running Logic Pro 8
on these later versions?

In my own experience, up until OS Lion, all should be well.

You updated Mac OS, but not the other software on your computer. Logic 9.0.2 is more than 2 years old. Run "Software Update" and update it to 9.1.5 - you even get free 64-bit support in Logic.

Is everything OK with Logic on Lion?

I'm running an early 2011 MBP 2.2 with 8 GB RAM. Plugins are Komplete 7, Spectrasonics Trilian and Omnisphere, and BFD2. The audio interface is an Apogee Duet. Now that Native Instruments have released Lion-compatible plugins and Lion is now at 10.7.2, how is it going? I recently updated my iPhone to iOS5 and would love to move to iCloud with my MobileMe account. If I get some yay's, I'll be definitely upgrading to Lion for sure.

I upgraded from a dongle version (Logic Pro 7), and have had zero issues in Lion regarding the dongle. My computer remembered everything. Good thing 'cause I'm not sure where my dongle is at the moment.
The only small issues I've had in Lion are the scrollbars actually. Sometimes they drag. You're pulling the curser to the other side of the screen and the timeline scrubs a few seconds. Frustrating, but not worth holding out on an update. For me at least.

Can't validate Classik Studio Reverb from IKMultimedia in Logic 64bits Lion

Hi, i try to use Classik Studio Reverb from IKMultimedia in Logic Pro with 12Gb.
Logic will only validate the plugins in 32bit bridge mode.
IKMultimedia say that everything's fine and the problem come from Logic.
All other plugins work fine, even other plugins from IKMultimedia.
Logic don't even see them in 64 bits.
An idea ?

Installing Logic Pro 8 with on a mac mini with lion

Just bought a new mac with Lion on it
I Tried to install Logic Pro8 but Lion doesn't support PPC

You can purchase the Upgrade and install it on your New MBP...
Just have the Serial Number from LP 8 handy for when you are asked for it...
After the install you will need to run Software update to get the Latest version of Logic 9 for Lion..
