Logic won't recognize my Mackie Control

Hello,
Thanks for reading. I've recently purchased a Mackie Control and have gone through the necessary steps for installing. When I choose Preferences - Control Surfaces - Setup - Install, my midi ports are scanned but no new devices are found. When I adjust faders on the control, I can see midi data being sent in the transport window, but Logic still does not find it on the midi port.
I've also tried manually installing the control with limited success. I've been able to record the actions of one fader on the control (proof that it is communicating via midi), however, none of the other buttons/faders register.
I'm using Logic 7.0.1 and a midisport 2x2. The firmware for the control is the latest (2.2). I've spoken with technical support and they've said that an upgrade to logic 7.1 shouldn't be necessary for the control to work. Thank you for any help you might offer.

Sorry, I brainblocked the MIDISport thing. That should work fine. I have Logic Control and XT's. Shouldn't be much difference. I have never used the install option in the Control Surfaces setup. I start with the LC switched off, start Logic, open Control Surfaces setup, switch on the LC and it appears there a second later.
Try this, but first try Logic Pro-Preferences-Control Surfaces- Rebuild defaults. Restart Logic, then try my method.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  • Logic won't recognize Firestudio Project

I just bought a presonus firestudio project to hookup to my 10.5.3 leopard Mac Pro (2.4Ghz quad 2gb ram). I installed the necessary Universal Control, however, my logic does not recognize the firestudio. My logic studio worked 100% fine through firewire to my previous firebox, though it does not recognize the firewire to firestudio. The firestudio does show a blue light which means it IS synced, however, logic does not recognize it as an audio device.

Hi Christopher . Need to know more, Does your interface has been setup in the Audio Midi Setup properly? If yes does itunes use it? Did you install the latest driver from Presonus? If yes check the firmware of your interface, i know mine had to be updated to work with the new driver.
Otherwise i would suggest you to contact presonus. I remember once i had an issue with an update and the interface, and they solve it by telling me to reinstall the software after to have deleted some files attribuate to Presonus application and driver....
    Good Luck.

  • Logic won't recognize any of my plug-ins...?

My computer wouldn't start so I had to take it to the mac store and they figured the best way to solve the problem was to archive and move to another folder. Supposedly everything seemed fine.
But now when I start Logic is doesn't recognize ANY third party plug-ins. Any project that had any of the plug-ins now shows the plug-in with a slash through it. Does mean I have to RE-upload EVERY third party plug-in including all the samples? Or are the samples accessible but I just have to set up the password again? I'm pretty basic at this setting up process. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure all 3rd party plug in components are in the HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/components folder and not in the old user account or wherever.
Then run Audio-Units-Manager in Logic's preferences and check if all plugs are validated.

  • Logic won't recognize serial number

I migrated from an iMac running 10.6.8 to a Mac Mini Server running 10.7.1.  I used migration assistant.
When I launch Logic (9.1.5) it asks me to register, and when I put in my serial number Logic just crashes and I'm asked if I want to reopen/submit a report, etc..
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Talked to Apple Support today and solved the problem, easily.  First off, the tech recommended against using Migration Assistant for any of the Pro apps, and instead doing a clean install. My bad!
Anyhow, after trashing both SysID files in /Library/Application Support/Pro App Support/ (I think that was the path), then relaunching Logic, I was again prompted for my s/n but this time everything worked.
BTW, found similar issue/resolution here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/11664121#11664121
One last note:  Migration Assistant didn't pull any of my Logic projects across to the new machine, so I guess I'll be doing some manual file transfers tonight...

  • Logic won't recognize AT2020 USB mic - help!

    Hello,
I'm pretty new to Logic and don't have much experience. I have an AT2020 USB mic, and when I have tried to record with it on Logic, it never comes up in my drop-down list of device choices. Only the 'Built-in microphone' and the "Built-in input' show up in that list. What do i need to do to be able to use it? It was advertised as not needing any setup work, so I'm at a loss... any advice will be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Logic/Mackie Control not recognized in Logic 8

Logic Control problem with Logic 8. Apparently the Logic/ Mackie Control should work with Logic 8, but since I installed Logic 8 the Control is not recognized when scanned in the setup. I am using a AMT8 interface and everything worked fine with Logic 7 before. The Mackie Control is running version 1.02 in "Logic Control Mode". It is recognized in the Midi/Audio Setup of my mac, but not in Logic 8...

Update: I discovered the cause of the problem: My Apogee Ensemble audio interface. Only after I switched it off Logic 8 would recognize the Logic/Mackie Control. I switched the Ensemble off , launched Logic and voila: Logic Control is scanned and works. The next thing was switching on the Ensemble while Logic was running, now both the Logic Control and Ensemble worked, but quitting Logic and starting it again while Ensemble is running can cause Logic Control to not work properly as I discovered e.g. no display and no fader movements. So this is a bug and Apple's claim: The Logic/Mackie Control is fully compatible is not entirely true as long as you are using the Ensemble interface by Apogee which is a co-production between Apple and Apogee. So I'd say this isn't very well tested by Apple. I hope they fix it soon

  • Using Mackie Control with Logic Pro 7 and Yamaha O1X

I currently own a Yamaha O1x which is a mixer/control surface/audio interface that I use with Logic Pro 7. I am planning on selling the O1X and replacing it with the Mackie Control Universal as my DAW controller and using the Apogee Ensemble as my audio interface. I already have purchased the Mackie Control Universal and would like to begin using it instead of the O1X as my DAW controller, but while I am waiting for the Apogee Ensemble to be released I still need the audio interface capabilties of the O1X. The O1X uses Yamaha's MLAN protocol to connect to the G5. MLAN is a firewire interface that can transmit both audio and midi. Does anyone have a suggestion for a work-around solution so that I can use my Mackie Control Universal (which connects via midi cable) and only use the audio capability but not the control surface of the O1X via the firewire connection? I haven't been able to figure my way through this one and see if it is possible. I have already tried having them both hooked up at the same time, and the Mackie Control seemed to work fine but the audio on the O1X didn't seem to be connecting and functioning properly. I appreciate any help as I am anxious to use my Mackie Control.
    Thank you!

You need to connect only the Audio and not the MIDI between your 01x and Mac. You can achieve this in mLan Graphic Patchbay-connect the cables between the Nodes in Audio part of a Graphic Patchbay, connect the Wordclock but do not make any MIDI connections. this way it should work as you want. the other way is to Make your regular connection from mLan Autoconnector and disable the MIDI ports that are dedicated to control the DAW by 01x by some freeware utility (01x uses port 1 for that...)
As this is quite 01x specific, please visit 01xray.com/forums where you will find more help, or send me PM.
As Apogee enssemble is expected to have great features, I would rather recommend the i88x instead of Enssemble (i88x has two Mic preamps-the best Yamaha produces (derived from Dm2000)VERY good converters (mLan is known for low jitter and it was tested with Rosseta by a mate from 01x forum who said (he tested it in store with other people) that i88x sounded better-may believe it or not...).The mLan Graphis Patchbay application allows you to patch connections between mLan devices and computer -very flexible. 01x already does almost the same as Mackie control and it is for almost the same price.... But maybe you are pi_ssed of waiting for new mLan drivers? I am just speculating....

  • Logic installation on second machine...  won't recognize xskey

    Hey folks,
Just got me a new imac to accompany my aging powerbook. I already have Logic Pro 7 running on the powerbook, which was installed as 6 platinum and then updated. I want to install 6 platinum on my new imac and then update it to Pro 7, but as of right now, after installing the program, it won't recognize the XSKey. I suppose this is because it's already licensed to another machine. But I thought I could run this on another machine?
Anyone wanna help a frustrated dude who's convinced this should work? This should work!!!
Any suggestions are appreciated and welcome.
    Thanks in advance
    C

Justin - you mean Apple replaced your blue key with an Apple one, but included authorisations for Logic versions prior to 7?
Yes. I was using Logic P before the XSKey existed - it would be a really bad move to not support that compatability for users of older versions, IMO. It's not like they would be granting free software since Pro consolidated all softwares.
If so, that's good news, because I'm sure they've stated in the past that they will not generate authorisations for versions before 7.
I don't know what their policy is now, this happened shortly after 7 was released ( emagic.de still existed ) - transistion phase may have ended some time ago...(?) - I wouldn't guarantee this possibility.
It does mean then that if I ever killed my key, I could keep my PC5, Mac5, Mac6Pro and Mac7Pro authorisations intact on a replacement key, which is reassuring.
Since the XSKey# is unique, you would have an entirely new set of auth #s - if they don't support that anymore ( based on what you have read... ) - I wouldn't be 100% certain that the auths would be delivered in your scenario. But, it was possible at one time during Apple branded Logic. Some hope there.

  • Is the Mackie Control broken in Logic Pro 9 ??

Haven't upgraded yet and read that Logic 9 has broken Mackie Control support.
True ? I only have the central unit. Works fine with LP7, but i want to move to an Intel Mac soon and will have to upgrade to Logic 9. Mackie Control support is very important to me.

My Logic control does not work properly in either 10.5 or 10.6 with Logic 9. The odd thing is that the same Logic Control is working better on my iMac running 10.6 than it does on my Mac Pro in either 10.5 or 10.6. Is there a way to keep my logic control working? Firmware 1.02 and its the original Logic control not the mackie control. Had to buy a motu micro lite so I could use the controller with SL.

  • Deskjet 3050 won't recognize wireless network anymore.

    Product:  HP Deskjet 3050
    Operating system:  Windows 7-64 bit
Printer quit printing wirelessly.  Using the control panel on the printer, I restored defaults.  Now it won't recognize any wireless networks.  I have unplugged computer, but that didn't help.  I don't want to unplug my router, because I will lost all my DVR items (we are on AT&T uverse).  Any tips?

Run a Wireless Network Test from the Network menu of the front panel.  What does it say?
If everything is OK (which I suspect), re-install the printer with the temporary use of a USB cable just as you did originally when you installed it.

  • HP Envy 5530 - computer won't recognize that the printer is on the same network

    Product Name: HP ENVY 5530
    OS: Windows 8.1
No changes made to system before issue occured
I bought this wireless printer last week (5-13-14). I have a working printer that was connected to my husband's work laptop via USB cable, but needed one to connect to our family computer, which is in a different room with the modem/router. My husband travels for work, so I want to be able to print without disturbing him and while he is away on business. I turned the printer on and connected it to my network with the password and printed out the network settings and the wireless report. There are about 8 other wireless networks in range of my printer (we're in a residential neighborhood), but we aren't having a problem with it connecting to someone elses stuff. I went online to download the driver software and it downloaded fine. I clicked on the desktop icon to launch the control panel for the printer and it opened up for me to install the printer. I went through every step and it won't recognize the IP address or the name of the printer, and therefore won't open up for me to do any scanning. Both the printer and PC are connected to the same network, but they won't recognize each other when it comes to going through the HP software to scan or print. I can go into word or something to print and it will let me print wirelessly, but it won't do anything from the control panel of the print software because it thinks the printer hasn't been installed. I've had Windows 8 on this computer since I bought it in 2012, but I have the computer defaulted to go to my desktop instead of the start screen, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I am going to go ahead and remove the device and uninstall everything so I can try again later. If I had known this was going to be a problem, I would have not bought the printer and just kept on doing what we'd been doing.

    Hello SarahD_07,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand you are having some troubles getting the Envy 5530 printing wireless on Windows 8.1. Are you able to take the I.P address of the 5530, type it into the address bar of your web browser and hit enter. Does it load a page about the printer?
Run the Print and Scan Dr to see if it can clear up the scanning issues if you can view that above page.
I will look out for your reply,

  • Networking 2 computers to share files problem. won't recognize login/pass

    hey
i really need help with this.
i now have 2 computers, a powermac G5 and a powerbook G4 connecting to each other with an ethernet cable so i can share files. for some reason when i try to connect as a user instead of guest it won't recognize my login/or password. it was working briefly before.
the only thing i did different was go into my account settings in both computer's preferences and changed the user name and password so they would be the same. they were the same before other than a capital letter but that sometimes affects things so i wanted to make them the exact same. now no matter what i try i cannot login to the network other than as a guest. and i want to be able to access my whole other computer.
    this is what it says:
'Unknown user, incorrect password, or login is disabled. Please retype the name and password or contact the server's administrator.'
appletalk is on in the ethernet tab.
    file sharing is on.
    i've repaired disk permissions.
any help on this asap would be great. thanks

How to use an iPod with more than one computer.
You say the iPod is already set to manual transfer. If so, files cannot be automatically be erased from the iPod when connecting to a different computer that does not contain the same files.
Manual transfer is how you have control of the iPod when using it on more than one computer. Files on the iPod are added and deleted manually by the user and not automatically by the computer and iTunes.

  • How do i install the 9.1.6 update if it won't recognize my 9.0.2 software

I just updated to Lion, and went to open my Logic Pro only to see, "You can't use this version of the application Logic Pro 9.0.2 with this version of Mac OS X." After I downloaded the 9.1.6 update package, I tried to open it but was told that there was not an eligible version of logic pro in my applications folder. When i looked to open the installer again, I saw logic pro 9.0.2 right above it. It is there but the instaler wont read it. Whats up?

Make sure the app is named "Logic Pro", no number in the name or anything else.  If the name has been changed it won't recognize it for updates.  Also, the app needs to be in the Applications folder (and not a subfolder of it) but it sounds like yours is in the right place.
