Logic X download tips (if any)?
After much trouble with the App store that did not allow me to download,the bugs were finally fixed & I am in the process of downloading Logic X onto my ext drive that carries Mountain Lion.The downloading is going on right now.Please let me know if there are any selections that I should make during the process & any other tips a new user can use while I set up Logic x.Since I am using Apogee duet interface on the main drive,do I need tor einstall its drivers etc onto this ext drive from which I boot to Logic X ?

Personally, as far as tips are concerned.. If you have a large enough ext boot drive.. I would download and install all content.. including all the additional content found after downloading and installing Logic Pro X and it's initial 2GB content....
If LPX doesn't ask you about the additional content then you can find it by running LPX and then going to the Logic Pro X menu bar and under the Logic Pro heading, select Download Additional Content and checking all the boxes.... Its about a 36+GB download and so it can take some time depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
I'd also recommend while the download process is going on.. to go to OS X's system preferences/energy tab and make sure both the computer and the display does not go to sleep...(Move all sliders to the far right and if using a Laptop, make sure you are connected to power and you choose the Power tab in those prefs and not the battery one) Also Uncheck "Put hard drives to sleep" there too. Finally, turn off the screensaver if enabled in the screensaver part of System Preferences. if enabled... You can change these settings back again after install has completed..
If you are using a Laptop then make sure you keep it connected to power throughout the process.
I'd also recommend going to Logic Pro X's preferences after install.. and checking all the options under the Advanced tab so Logic Pro X's full feature set is enabled.
Thanks for the excellent response.Yes it is the ext drive.I replaced the drive as the one that came had it's seal broken.Itunes isues were sorted out & the download is going pretty smooth.
Do let me know how I can transfer recorded files from Logic pro 9.Since 9 is still running on Snow Leopard I hope I can open it up on the X version.

Hi, I am having trouble getting an album to download. I have tried it on both my iPhone and laptop through iTunes but neither works. I am wondering if it could be the size of the album stopping it downloading (212 Tracks) Any Ideas?
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.

Do you have any restrictions for purchasing apps on the phone? Settings > General > Restrictions. If you have a Mac computer or another Apple device can you purchase things in the App Store using the same Apple ID on something else?

Bug: Logic 8 Can't open ANY of my pre L7 files
I know this has been discussed before. For some people, opening pre-L7 files in Logic8 works fine. For others, it's a problem.
But today I realized just how wide spread this situation is. Logic 8 will not open ANY of my pre L7 songs. NOT ONE.
That's literally hundreds of songs and projects on my hard drive that I will have to load into L7 one at a time to 'translate' so that L8 can read them. I call this a BUG because it's directly the opposite of what the manual claims Logic 8 can do:
"Opening Pre Version 8 Songs
You can open Logic Pro 5, Logic Pro 6, and Logic Pro 7 songs in Logic Pro 8. When
loading a song or project created in a pre-version 8 Logic variant, the format will be converted to the version 8 format. A Save As dialog will open, allowing you to save the project with a new name. The original version song will be retained."
I'm only posting this in the hopes that all of you experiencing problems with older projects will please LEAVE FEEDBACK on this topic with Apple. I don't want to lose access to years worth of archived work, and there's no good reason why L8 should lose the file import ability it had in L7. I do have L7 on an older machine, so I can laboriously translate the files 1 at a time if I have to. But keeping L7 and L8 installed on the same machine is problematic. And it's crazy to have to do this at all, since it's a basic functionality L8 should have if Apple would only get around to fixing it.
So please let Apple know if this matters to you. (Unless it doesn't and I'm the only one affected... just my luck).
The weird thing is that the "Can't Open" dialog that comes up on my system specifies that the files can only be opened by "Logic 7.2.1 or earlier". Wonder what was so special about 7.2.1???

Yup, and yup. I can run Logic 7 on my mac fine. And Logic 7 can import and play all my L5, 6, and of course 7 projects without a problem.
But Logic 8 CAN'T.
That's the problem. We're talking about literally hundreds of projects, and NOT ONE of them loads properly in Logic 8. Not a single one.
Clearly something in my default template makes Logic 8 unhappy. Don't know if it's the number of busses I use (16) or the effects routing or... who knows? What I do know is that a) Logic 8 should be able to open legacy files if it is to deserve the name "Pro", and b) I definitely do not have the time to open several hundred files one at a time in L7 and resave them.
And, even if I did resave all my version 5 and 6 projects in L7, the reality is they would still load improperly in L8 because of the revised bus/aux routing. When I open any of my L7 projects (which always ran just fine in L7), Logic 8's environment page gets completely messed up. The scroll bars stop working, making it impossible to see the channel you're working on.
Yes, I've emailed Apple's black-hole-o-customer-support. The silence has been deafening in response. If I weren't so lazy and cheap I'd be on Pro Tools I guess... But I know Logic like the back of my hand and I have work to do. Problem is, I'm starting to hate Logic like the back of someone else's hand which keeps slapping me in the face.

I downloaded iOS 7.2 and now I can't download or play any apps or music. Open to help and ideas!!!!
Make sure your internet connection is secure, try downloading the software again and restore the iPad.

I have just downloaded ML. I can get my email via iCloud, but I can't get it on MAIL 6.0. I have done the JAVA thing--seems to be OK. MAIL 6.0 on my desktop won't sync with Mobile Me and won't download emails. Any suggestions?
Just did something--am not sure what, probably in the "iCloud"--but seems to be working at last!

I have an Apple iphone 4s and for the last 4 weeks I cannot download or update any apps. I have an iPad and a Mac book pro and the apps download on these devices fine. My phone tells me that I have 12 updates but when I press update all or update any individually nothing happens at all. It also does not ask me for my password any more but my iPad and mac book do.
I have signed in and out of the app store and the password is correct. I have tried both kinds of reboot but that did nothing. I have tried to update the apps by connecting phone to Mac book pro...it shows the apps being download on the Mac book and says it will sync them to my phone but it does not. Everything else on my phone works fine.
Any ideas ...Please!Thank you, this has resolved both the iphone and ipad problem immediately. I am concerned that I may have a problem with apps that I bought under my old AppleID as they will not be recognised. Any suggestions for this please?

Is anybody else still not able to use the App Store? I can't download nor update any apps. I have an IPhone 5 device not currently updated to iOS 7 as my partner also has an iPhone 5 running iOS 7 and it seems to have some issues at the moment.

To rule out a software problem
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

MY iPhone 4 after being updated to iOS7 will not download or update any apps. When i press the button on my device to download a new app the loading wheel appears then in a few seconds disappears. I dont get a terms and conditions screen or anything.
Ive tried using wifi and 3G seperately. Ive tried restarting the phone. Ive tried restoring it from a backup but none of these have worked yet.

I am developing a book via email with a collaborator. iBooks Files are sent to me via a link to preview on iPad. This worked fine for a while but now getting download errors and the unhappy mac face saying download failed. Any help appreciated. Very frustrating!
