Logic x popup/advert on bootup of logic 9 in Yosemite

Just migrated my old macbook to my new one which runs Yosemite. I'm running Logic Pro 9, and every time it boots there is an advert for me to buy Logic X which I have to close down. How can I turn this off?

Hi Mate,
I've got a non-retina MBP i5, and it's not behaving like that, so no way should yours be.  Can't hear it at all until it really comes under load.  But even then it's relatively quiet.  Quite concerning that it's happening to you with nothing loaded up.
Something is obviously taking up cpu power just by having the audio engine running, have you checked OSX Activity monitor and checked where your processor(s) are being used?
Also, check your audio options and make sure the audio buffer isn't set ridiculously low.
Agree that Apple expansion options are expansive - However, at least they're working on getting the software reduced, Logic X being an example of that.

  • Logic 9 with Yosemite

    Hi. I bought Logic Pro 9 a few years ago and have been running it on my iMac, which now has OS Yosemite on it and Logic is still running fine. I am trying to install Logic to an old macbook - the late 2009 unibody model - which is also running Yosemite. However, when installing the first disk, it works for a while and then says 'Installation Fails'.
    Can anyone shed any light on why it isn't working? I thought it might be because I'm running Yosemite but this doesn't seem to make sense when my iMac is running this. Is it because I'm installing it after installing Yosemite? Is there anything I can do to work out what the problem is?
    Any advice on this matter will be greatly appreciated
    Thanks! x

    Your Logic Studio disks may be unreadable.... Try making DMG images of them instead and then install from those...
    https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=7058
    Note: Don't proceed to the burning part.. Just install from the disk images themselves...
    or
    You are using Logic Studio 2.0 (and not the later 2.01 version) which means you may have to use Pacifist to install Logic Pro 9 from the DVDs.. as the installer for the original version no longer works with modern OS X versions
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Additional: Once installed you must update to Logic Pro v9.1.8 using the following link before running Logic for the first time... as earlier versions are unstable/non workable under modern OS X versions..

  • Logic 9 & OS Yosemite

    Can someone help? I downloaded os Yosemite and I have logic pro 9 and it's not compatible. What is the solution? Do i have to upgrade Logic also?

    You can install or restore from backup your earlier OS onto another drive in your Mac Pro, if you don't want to upgrade Logic.

  • Yosemite 10.10.1 with Logic pro X 10.0.7

    Hello guys. i just wanted to start a small conversation according to the performance of logic pro x on the latest macbook pro's (mid-2014)
    i am on a 13macbook pro running yosemite 10.10.1 and logic pro x 10.0.7...
    Everything works fine and smoothly but the there is just one thing that freaks me out. the level meters gets very laggy sometimes. for no reason.(mostly when i add new audio files but many times for no reason) . all i have to do is to make any activity in the logic's environment to "wake them up" (like opening the mixer or changing the selected channel)and then it may appear again.
    i have tried everything from clean installing to various turnarounds i found on the web . but nothing.
    i think that it might be a bug or method that logic use to spend less graphics. i don't know. i wondered if anyone else has that issue. its has nothing to do with cpu,heavy projects,etc. i have tested it in all the cases.
    so what do you think? have experienced this issue before?

    Logic Pro X + Yosemite  (and even more so + Retina) is a recipe for less performance...... at this current time...
    The graphical 'lagging' you notice is an example of this reduction in performance and has been well reported here and elsewhere.
    It's not the only affect in this drop in performance however as overall Logic performs less well with Yosemite especially with Retina Macs...
    A quick test using the Logic Benchmark test shows that particular combination of OS X and Logic Pro X indicates a reduction of at least 15% in general performance at this time... and in many cases it rises to about 30% ... with projects that ran without issue under 10.9.4 having sporadic 'Overload' issues under 10.10.1
    Currently I don't recommend installing Yosemite on any system where the use of Logic is important..... but instead, to stick with 10.9.4/5 for the time being until such issues are resolved.
    Cheers..

  • Ad-blocker is not blocking Firefox ads. Is there a way to block these ads from the Firefox home page?

    Whenever I open a new Firefox window there is a new Firefox ad. AdBlocker Plus does not seem to block Firefox ads. All ads are annoying. Period. Even yours. Is it possible to block these ads? Please advise. Thanks!

    What is it that you are seeing. I think firefox only displays web pages, rather than popup adverts etc.
    If you are talking about the new page seen when you update from an earlier version, that should only display the once. If yours displays continuously and repeatedly on startups then maybe something is blocking the required change.

  • Can I backup app files or .dmgs from HD to reinstall apps after a clean install?

    late 2010 macbook pro. 4gb ram, 500gb HD. Currently running Mavericks.
    I'm about to perform a clean install of OS Yosemite from a USB flash drive. I've not done this before, so I'm hoping it'll make things run nice and fast again. I have a time machine backup if anything goes wrong - backed up on a device in the mainland UK (I'm currently on a 2 week break with family in Ireland, so don't have access to it).
    I have a lot of software on the mbp currently, some of which I'd like to reinstall straight afterwards. Logic Pro 9 and some other production applications. Again, all of my original install CD's are back in england - I don't have access to them currently. I can access serial numbers from screen grabbing my app load screens and emailing them to myself.
    TL;DR:
    Is there any way I can copy various files or .dmg from the package contents (displaying hidden files using terminal) to be able to reinstall some applications straight after the clean install?
    I'd really like to be able to make some music on a faster system while I'm off work!
    Do point me in the direction of some further advice.
    Thanks,
    Jack

    Connect an external HDD to your MBP that is formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (You may have to use Disk Utility>Erase to format the external HDD)
    Open Disk Utility>Restore and the Internal HDD will be the Source and the external HDD will be the Destination:  See this example from my MBP:
    Then click on the restore button.  Depending upon the amount of data, this may take several hours to complete.
    (Note:  My internal HDD (gray) is called BARBAROSSA and my external HDD (Yellow) is called MAVERICKS.

    Also; will the be any cross compatibility issues, given that I might be taking Mavericks-compatible Logic across to Yosemite?
    There may be some applications that may not be compatible with Yosemite, but that will be very unlikely.  You find out if they appear with a STOP symbol when you transfer them.  If that happens, you will have to go to the developers web site and see if there is a newer version or drivers available that will make it compatible with Yosemite.
    Ciao.

  • Autopunch area of infinite length

    Running Logic X on Yosemite.
    Somehow  (I don't know how) my autopunch area has become infinite in length, and since I can never get to the right locator, I can't adjust where to end autopunching.
    If I click on the red bar, a pop-up comes up saying:
                Punch Range         1111
                Length                     ?????  1 0 63
    Somehow the project had become some 20000 measures long. If I scroll horizontally all the way to the end of the project, I see that the autopunch area extends beyond it, and there seems no way to get to grab the right locator. I tried adjusting the length of the project, but that right locator remains elusive.
    The online Logic X Help says:
    Set the autopunch area by doing one of the following:
    Drag the Punch In and Punch Out locators in the ruler.
    Drag vertically in the autopunch locator fields in the control bar.
    The first is not possible in the current state. The second isn't possible either, for there are no autopunch locator fields in the control bar, nor do I see a way to configure them - so it looks like the online help is in error here.
    Any idea how to get out of this, or how I got in this mess in the first place?
       Thx, Michael

    There are punch-locator fields in the Control Bar, unless you have disabled those. If so, control or rightclick in an unused grey area of the control bar and enable it:

  • Newly recorded audio is offset

    I'm running Logic 9 in Yosemite on a 2011 MacBookPro...since installing Mavericks & now Yosemite, whenever I record an audio clip it appears (& plays) about 1 beat ahead of the place in time where it was recorded. I have to drag the clip back to the right place on the timeline. What could be causing this?

  • Keyboard tab navigation highlight disappeared

    Hello everyone,
    This is my first post in the community.
    I've been using the Keyboard Total Navigation, i.e. using the tab to navigate throw apps controls, to manage the popups with the keyboard.
    Today, I installed Yosemite but I noticed that for the popup windows, the highlighted option to be selected doesn't work. So, I can navigate throw the options but I'm not able to know in advance which one will be selected when I press the space key.
    I'd appreciate it any kind of help or if I missed to do something.
    Thanks in advance,

  • In MVC, do i need a View or Page with flow logic for POPUP window

    Hi All,
    I have the below scenario using the MVC pattern.
    I have a main view with 3 trays, each tray has two buttons, for example first tray has Create Order button. When I click on this button, I need a popup window to come with a tableview and a button(Create), where I select some rows and click on the button Create  to create order.
    But as per the MVC pattern I canu2019t call the view (popup) from another view(main view).  So should I create a VIEW or PAGE WITH FLOW LOGIC for the popup? .
    I need 6 popup to be called from the main view and once the function is done close the popup.
    Please suggest me the flow for this scenario.
    Cheers,
    Srini.

    Srini,
    1. You can call the view in pop-up because you will be calling the controller using open.window.
    Here is the sample code:
    method DO_REQUEST .
      data:
            li_vw           type ref to   if_bsp_page,
            lv_form_field   type          string,
            li_md           type ref to   zcl_model01.
      dispatch_input( ).
      li_md ?= get_model( 'm01' ).
      lv_form_field = request->get_form_field( 'invoice_create' ).
      if lv_form_field is initial.
    *------ Request to display main page
        li_vw = create_view( view_name = 'main.htm' ).
        li_vw->set_attribute( name = 'model' value = li_md ).
        call_view( li_vw ).
      elseif lv_form_field eq 'true'.
    *------ Request to display Invoice page in pop-up
        li_vw = create_view( view_name = 'invoice.htm' ).
        li_vw->set_attribute( name = 'model' value = li_md ).
        call_view( li_vw ).
      endif.
    endmethod.
    Layout:
          function do_Invoice()
          { var s=0; r=1; w=300; h=300; x=screen.width/2;
            x=x-w/2;
            var y=screen.height/4;
            y=y-h/2;
            popUp=window.open('main.do?invoice_create=true','win','width='+ w
            +',height='+ h +', left=' + x +',top='+ y +');
    Option2:
    Ofcourse you can't bind the model in page becos those are 2 different things. But all you need to do is access the model to get some value. To know how to access the model from Page w/flow logic look at [this link|Passing model reference to a page in a Popup].

  • Logical volume activation during bootup shows "Maps lock" errors

    this started happening sometime after the creation of two lvm snapshots (including 1 root volume snapshot which, as i have since read, may be an issue) but this has never happened to me before in conjunction with snapshotting.  the following outputs before the system successfully finishes booting:

  • Complex If logic in BI Publisher report template

    Hi,
    We are working on a fresh BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 install and are setting up a custom template.
    We want to accomplish the following, but the template will not accept the logic.
    In the ‘Reciever' field we want logic along the lines of:
    If ssType like ‘*Ut’ and ssCaseClassification = ‘Skjerming’ and ssResponseType <> ‘Forward’ then ssRecipient = ‘***’ else ssRecipient
    And in the ‘'Sender' field:
    If ssType like ‘*Inn’ and ssCaseClassification = ‘Skjerming’ then ssSender = ‘***’ else ssSender
    Please assist us on the correct syntax.
    Also:
    Is it possible to insert a page brake if the for-each ssAction is not completed on the page?
    We have tried several logic variations to achieve this, such as:
    <?xdofx:if (contains(ssType,’Ut’) and ssCaseClassification=’Skjerming’ and ssResponseType !=’Forward’) then ssRecipient=’***’ else ssRecipient end if?>
    Are adding these by:
    dobbel clicking the field in the template and adding the logic to the advanced tab in the popup (in word).
    All have been unsuccessful

    Hi,
    I don't exactly have a solution to your problem, but I can tell you that "like" functionality is not available in the syntax you want. I had a quite similar requirement some time ago, I wanted to use "like" functionality but it seems like there is none. Finally, I accomplished the requirement using a function "Starts-With" ... e.g. instead of
    <?if:Organization like 'ABC*'?> xxx <?end if?> (which will not work)
    I used
    <?if:starts-with(Organization,'ABC')?> xxx <?end if?>
    Maybe it helps.

  • Logic Pro 9 - Recorded audio just silly with crackling, clicking noise

    PLEASE!!! Read my entire post before commenting. I don't mean to sound rude but I've posted this in several other forums and it's obvious they hadn't read/understood my issue based on the comments they left, ie., suggesting everything I've already tried, saying to contact tech support and even asking what comp and DAW I'm using... I've been dealing with this issue for ~8 months
    SPECS
    I use 2 daisy-chained Firepods connected to a Mac Pro Quad-core running 10.6.5 and Logic Pro 9.1.3.
    I get the results described below whether I'm trying to record at 24 or 16 bit and at either 44.1K or 48K.
    Generally I record 12 tracks simultaneously AND I always use the same inputs for each instrument; ie., Vocals = track 11, guitar = track 2, bass = track 1, etc...*
    PROBLEM
    Although this is a sporadic issue it happens to occur WAY more than it doesn't; ie., very rarely do I get a recording session without the anomaly.
    The issue is that after I have recorded a session and listen back to the recorded material there are random crackles, pops, clicks throughout. When I audition tracks individually, some may have no crackling and some will have crackling at different points in time and of varying intensity. Every session is different as well, no two sessions are the same. One day I may have a perfect vocal track and a guitar track that is just silly with the crackling. The next day the guitar track may be fine but now the vocal track is all messed up with crackling. Another confounding point is that the crackling does not occur during periods of silence.
    I will add that each Firepod appears to function properly (with no issue) all by it's lonesome - but that doesn't help me, I need 12 inputs minimum!
    Things I've Tried
    1. All new FW cables
    2. Disconnecting the FW cable that goes from the Firepod to the Mac. Turn on the Mac. Turn on both Firepods, master first. Connect the FW cable that goes from the Firepod to the Mac. Launch Logic.
    3. Disconnecting the FW cable that goes from the Firepod to the Mac. Turn on the Mac. Launch Logic. Turn on both Firepods, master first. Connect the FW cable that goes from the Firepod to the Mac.
    4. Tried every conceivable configuration of Audio Midi Setup.
    5. Tried several other FW and USB audio interfaces, obtaining perfect results.
    6. Been working with Apple tech support (both hardware and Logic support).
    7. I've checked that both Firepods have the same firmware version.
    8. Installed a fresh SATA HD with clean installs of both OS10.6.5 and Logic Pro 9.1.3 with fresh custom templates and no 3rd party plugins or loops.
    9. Lots of praying, swearing and fits of anger.
    Final Comments
    First, I think that the chassis FW connectors on the firepods are absolute garbage (read, cheap, cheap, cheap) and are inferior to anything else I have encountered during my troubleshooting process.
    Last, I will go ballistic if I hear one more Presonus rep say anything to the effect of, "Huh! Never heard of anyone else experiencing the symptoms you're describing..." Yes, I have spoken adnauseum with Presonus tech support with zero results.
    Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pancenter! I'll try to be brief. LOL
    I had 4 perfect multi-track sessions and then the gremlin woke up and and cast his spell... Frustrating... The biggest difference I enjoyed using your suggestion was that when I launched Logic, loaded my template, enabled my tracks and hit record, the session started without a hitch. Prior to your suggestion, I would have to futz around with Logic audio prefs, AMS settings, turning the Firepods off/on, quitting/restarting Logic and/or shutting down/restarting my Mac Pro just to get the session to show my enabled tracks had activity. I would not know if the session would have the noise artifacts until playback. I should add that I never had this problem with my PPC G5 nor did I for the first 10 months of use with this Mac Pro. Also, with the help of Apple tech support we had eliminated Logic, 10.6.5 and the Mac Pro (except the FW800 bus) as probable causes. Again each Firepod and Logic work flawlessly when I use one unit not daisy-chained. So, I think there is no problem with the individual units, and, as I said, both units worked fine chained with my PPC Mac Pro.
    So, I called Presonus. Again... And I get yet another tech who tells me something different; every time I speak with Presonus I get different suggestions. This guy asked what kind of cable I was using to connect the Firepods to the Mac Pro and I said I'm using a *firewire 9-pin to 6-pin cable*. So has asks well, is it *bilingual*? He said that would def fix my problem. I told him it is advertized as bilingual and that had not fixed the problem; he had no answer for that. Then, I broached the option of adding a firewire 400 card to my Mac Pro. He said I guess you could try that; get one with a TI chipset. That's where I'm at now, deciding which one to get and whether I will need to provide auxiliary power to the card's on-board molex plug.
    Any ideas?
    Oh, thanks for responding
