Logical export in RMAn

Dear friends,
Is it passible that we take logical backup(i.e Export/Impot)
in Rman.
If yes then.
Why?
[email protected]

Pixels.
For a 1" x 1" photo first crop the photo square.  Then export  with Kind = Current with JPEF Quality = Maximum and Size = Full size.
Then when you go to print the photo select a 1" x 1" print size.  This will squeeze all available pixels in each dimension into the 1" dimension giving you the highest DPI resolution available from your image file.

  • NEED HELP!!!!  Logical Standby and RMAN.

    Hello,
    I have a Data Guard env setup on win 2000 with 9.2.0.4.
    I now have primary and standby. I was wondering if I create a logical standby to achieve transparent application failover. What I am saying is if the primary node dies, then in tnsnames I want to point to the logical standby, since it is an open database, the users can still perform without knowing the db went down. Then if we indeed need a failover we can failover to the physical standby. This would ensure availability without having to implement RAC or AQ, Right? Also, I read that you should create rman schema (recovery catalog) on standby db. Any thoughts?

    Were you able to figure this one out?
    I have a similar configuration as you - the same motherboard and an eVga Geforce 3 6600 fanless.  With the latest BIOS (3.8) and this video card, the system will not go into Standby completely.  I hear the HDD head park and the video goes black, but the LEDs on the front of the PC chassis and the case/PS fans do not stop.  Pressing the button to bring the PC out of Standby, rather, whatever state it is in, works.

  • Logical export

    In Lookout when I go to Historical data viewer and select a view to export, that is a logical value that is a switch, when I look at the text of the export all
    the values are just opposite of the real value of the switch. That is at the time it said the switch was OFF
    it was actually ON. Why is this?
    Thanks

    I did look, and the box is unchecked. I also have a HyperTrend on the same Panel and it follows the switch. If flip the switch up the HyperTrend trace moves up, when I flip the switch down the HyperTrend trace moves back down. But the export ASCII file for the switch shows it is ON when it shows to be OFF in the HyperTrend and the switch on the Panel. If I put a check in the "invert logical signal" the HyperTrend now shows a low when the switch on the panel is ON and the export file now shows it to be ON.
    At this point the export file is now following the switch positions but the HYperTrend
    Is now backwards. The output to the PLC does not change if the check box is checked
    Or not it always follows the switch position on the Panel. I have a logical base p
    osition
    Of 0 and a Logical True height of 50 in the HyperTrend. Whats up?
    Thanks

  • Oracle EBS R12 - 11.2.0.2 - Logical Standby Database & RMAN backups

    Hi all,
    I have Oracle EBusiness Suite R12 running on 11.2.0.2. Our organization used to have most of the business in North America, South America and Europe; but now we are also in Australia, China and Indonesia. Previously running large reporting batch jobs and RMAN backups at night time in USA was feasible but now that is beginning to show up as performance issue for some countries.
    I was thinking would it make sense to have a Active Data Guard logical standby database on a separate server in the same US based data center where we have our main servers and use that logical standy database for reporting and RMAN backups. I am especially concerned about RMAN backups. Would I be able to make RMAN backups from the logical standy database and somehow use those to recover our primary database if some issue happens?
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    Thanks all,

    Active Data Guard only deals with physical standbys. If you are using a logical standby you can always open the database without using Active Data Guard option.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25608/rman.htm#sthref846 says that:
    >
    Backups of logical standby databases are not usable at the primary database.

  • Recovery Logical Standby with RMAN

    Hi All,
    I have a test environment with Primary DB Server, Physical Standby and Logical Standby.
    The Logical Standby DB (cur_log_stdb) is backed up every evening by RMAN and I have a question:
    If I recover my Logical Standby DB from backup and switch replication to new Logical Standby DB (new_log_stdb) it will work or not?
    My steps e.g.:
    1. Make a new server for my new_log_stdb and repair structure of catalogs;
    2. Repair listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files from cur_log_stdb to new_log_stdb;
    3. Restore DB with RMAN from backup to new_log_stdb;
    4. On cur_log_stdb execute "alter database stop logical standby apply";
    5. Change a DNS name from cur_log_stdb to new_log_stdb;
    6. On new_log_stdb execute "alter database start logical standby apply immediate";
    I'm not sure that archivelogs will apply to the new_log_stdb for period since rman backup was created.
    Configuration:
    Oracle Linux 6.4
    Oracle Database 11.2.0.3
    Primary and Physical with Data Guard

    You might get better responses in the DataGuard forum ("space").
    I am sceptical if this plan would work.

  • Can Logic Export Audio into a Movie PORTION?

    I am a film composer. I'd like to export as a quicktime movie, my cue(song mix) with the appropriate portion of the movie that it is synced up to. Preferably at a user defined resolution and compression setting (ie: so I can create little preview quicktime movies to show my directors over the net).
    Can this be done?
    And if not, what application would be best to insert an audio file as a soundtrack into a Quicktime movie and get frame accurate results? Does PRO TOOLS do that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Evan EVans

    sorry mate, can't be done. what you can do is;
    1. with quicktimepro, extract the section that you want to do it with. you don't have to save the all the information, you can save it as a file referenced to the orginal film. when you do that, the file will only be about 165k as opposed to Gbs. so it's quick. you can then open that in logic and put your music onto the film and sync. (BTW depending on the codec you are using, you can still use movieplayer that came with authoring goodies back from OS 8 days, and that works in classic, though it doesn't play back very well, you can make the referenced file that works just fine in os x)
    2. import it into imovie and edit out the bit you need, but at that rate you might as well bring the cue into imovie as well. the advnatage there is that you can export the great new codecs with first class quailty and tiny file sizes.
    finally, to my knowledge protools does not allow you to extract and bounce a portion of a quicktime movie. it is a quicktime thing. you have to have quicktimepro.

  • Logical export backup

    LQ = > I exported hr schema with three different option of keyword
    CONTENT = ALL,
    CONTENT = METADATA_ONLY
    AND CONTENT = NONE
    1.with keyword CONTENTS= ALL
    the size of dmp file was 416KB
    2. with keyword CONTENTS=DATA_ONLY
    I got size = 216
    3.Last with keyword CONTENTS=METADATA_ONLY
    Igot size = 316
    here , My question is that with the keyword = ALL and keyword DATA_ONLY I have clearly understood
    that with "ALL" the dumpfile contents metadata + data of schema such as table etc so size was 416KB.
    with data_only the dumpfile only contains object's data so size was 216 KB
    but , why with the option of METADATA_ONLY the size was 316 KB..As in metadata it should be
    416 - 216 = 200 KB ( ALL - DATA_ONLY = METADATA_ONLY)..This is my assumption..If am wrong that
    kindly show me the right concept...
    And One more thing I want to say that if there is any internal things is happening please let me know..hope I will be
    receiving the answer and the concept behind the space that was used by the schemas with various option...

    Hi,
    can you please provide me the hint..that how can I find out the size of master table etc..The size of the master table is going to be different for every job. It is a table that Data Pump creates and inserts data into as the export and import jobs are running. If you want to know the final size, then add
    keep_master=y
    on your expdp or impdp command. Then what I did, was to export just that table and see how big it is.
    expdp system/manager schemas=hr ... keep_master=y job_name=foo
    expdp system/manager tables=system.foo ...
    And one more concept I am eagerly waiting to know from you that during datapump when I used to export the whole database >, there I found the warning / error
    ORA-39139: Data Pump does not support XMLSchema objects. TABLE_DATA:"OE"."PURCHASEORDER" will be skipped.
    I think that XML schema is not supported by our newly feature of export( datapump)
    I have done this by giving the command
    expdp directory=test_dir logfile=full_database.log dumpfile=full_database.dmp full=y
    Note: but , when the same database was exported through the old feature (exp) , the database full was exported successfully >without any error...
    can you please throw some light in this regard...You don't say what version you are on, but I believe that support for xml types was not in 10.1 Data Pump but was in old exp/imp. I also think support for this was added in a later version for Data Pump, but I can't recall the exact versions. If you have documentation, you should look at that.

  • Can RMAN backup and export datapump executed at the same time?

    Hello,
    I have several databases that I backup using RMAN and export datapump everynight starting at 6PM and end at Midnight. The backup maintenance window doesn't give me enough time for each database to run at different time. I am using crontab to schedule my backups. Since I have so many databases that need to be backed up between 6PM - Midnight, some of the export and RMAN backup scripts will execute almost at the same time. My question is can my export data pump and RMAN backup scripts run at the same time?
    Thank you in advance.
    John

    Needs must. If you don't run expdp parallel then it doesn't use that much. If it was really killing the system then look into setting up a Resource plan that knocks that user down but this is a big step.
    I woud better look into using Rman
    system incrementals, and block change tracking, to minimize your RMAN time.
    Regards
    If your shop needs to do both simultaneously then go for it.
    Chris.
    PS : One of my shops has maybe 20-30 rmans and pumps all kicking off some simultaneous, some not, from 0000 to 0130. No complaints from users and no problems either. Go for it.

  • Exporting tracks from Logic 8

    Hi,
    i've figured out that when I'm exporting tracks from Logic ("export all tracks as audio files"). Some of them get automatically normalized and don't have the actual volume of the "mixdown".
    Does anybody now, why this happens? I guess it happens only with Logic's own synths and not with 3rd party plugins.

    F~L~E~X~I~S wrote:
    Has anyone found a solution for exporting a Logic 8 session into Logic 7? (Obviously apart from exporting all tracks as audio files).
    Nope, Logic 8 is not backwards compatible with 7.

  • How to delete the foreign archivelogs in a Logical Standby database

    How do I remove the foreign archive logs that are being sent to my logical standby database. I have files in the FRA of ASM going back weeks ago. I thought RMAN would delete them.
    I am doing hot backups of the databases to FRA for both databases. Using ASM, FRA, in a Data Guard environment.
    I am not backing up anything to tape yet.
    The ASM FRA foreign_archivelog directory on the logical standby FRA keeps growing and nothing is get deleted when
    I run the following command every day.
    delete expired backup;
    delete noprompt force obsolete;
    Primary database RMAN settings (Not all of them)
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 9 DAYS;
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE DB_UNIQUE_NAME 'WMRTPRD' CONNECT IDENTIFIER 'WMRTPRD_CWY';
    CONFIGURE DB_UNIQUE_NAME 'WMRTPRD2' CONNECT IDENTIFIER 'WMRTPRD2_CWY';
    CONFIGURE DB_UNIQUE_NAME 'WMRTPRD3' CONNECT IDENTIFIER 'WMRTPRD3_DG';

    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 9 DAYS;
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default
    How do I cleanup/delete the old ASM foreign_archivelog files?

    OK, the default is TRUE which is what it is now
    from DBA_LOGSTDBY_PARAMETERS
    LOG_AUTO_DELETE     TRUE          SYSTEM     YES
    I am not talking about deleting the Archive logs files for the Logical database that it is creating, but the Standby archive log files being sent to the Logical Database after they have been applied.

  • Create a new Database in an other server using a copie of RMAN backup

    Hi all,
    I want to create an other instance for our production database. We have disk and tape in rman backup. My question is can i create a new database using our disk backup in an other server?
    If some procedure or steps is there, email it to my adresse [email protected]
    Hamid.
    Thanks

    By means of the use of Recovery Manager it is possible to duplicate a database out from a previously taken rman backup. The method will be outlined in the next few lines.
    Let's assume a source database named SRCDB and the target database, named GEMINI. A unix like environment is assumed, but it can be implemented on windows as well, just beware of the particular Oracle implementation on a windows platform (orapwd file name, service creation, path format)
    1. Create a password file for the Cloned (GEMINI) instance:
    orapwd file=/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.1.0/dbs/orapwGEMINI password=password entries=10
    2. Configure tnsnames.ora and listner.ora
    Properly identify the database at the tnsnames.ora and have the instance manually registered against the listener.ora files, both files located at the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory.
    2.a Manually register the database against the listener (listener.ora)
    (SID_DESC =
    (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.1.0)
    (SID_NAME = GEMINI)
    2.b Added the target GEMINI to the tnsnames.ora
    GEMINI =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost.mydomain.com)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (ORACLE_SID = GEMINI)
    2.c Reload the listener
    lsnrctl reload
    3. Create a new init.ora for the cloned database.
    Next create an init.ora file for the cloned database. In case the same paths cannot be used on the target host, either because it is the same source host or because those paths are not reproducible on the target, then DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT and LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT may be required to be defined
    DB_NAME=GEMINI
    CONTROL_FILES=(/u02/oradata/GEMINI/control01.ctl,
    /u02/oradata/GEMINI/control02.ctl,
    /u02/oradata/GEMINI/control03.ctl)
    # Convert file names to allow for different directory structure.
    DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=(/u02/oradata/SRCDB/,/u02/oradata/GEMINI/)
    LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=(/u01/oradata/SRCDB/,/u01/oradata/GEMINI/)
    # block_size and compatible parameters must match those of the source database
    DB_BLOCK_SIZE=8192
    COMPATIBLE=9.2.0.0.0
    4. Connect to the cloned instance
    ORACLE_SID=GEMINI; export ORACLE_SID
    sqlplus /nolog
    conn / as sysdba
    5. Create an SPFILE based on the init.ora
    CREATE SPFILE FROM PFILE='/u01/app/oracle/admin/GEMINI/pfile/init.ora';
    6. Start the database in NOMOUNT mode:
    STARTUP FORCE NOMOUNT;
    7. Connect to the TARGET, CATALOG and AUXILIARY databases.
    By means of the rman three connections are open, one for the Source Database (SOURCEDB), another for the Catalog database (RCAT), and one more for the cloned database (GEMINI)
    ORACLE_SID=GEMINI; export ORACLE_SID
    rman TARGET sys/password@SRCDB CATALOG rman/rman@RCAT AUXILIARY /
    8. Complete or Incomplete clone (recover)
    From the rman the database using one of the following commands:
    8.a Clone the database by means of a complete recover.
    DUPLICATE TARGET DATABASE TO GEMINI;
    8.b Clone the database up to a defined point in time in the past by means of an incomplete recover
    DUPLICATE TARGET DATABASE TO GEMINI UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE-2';
    9. Process finished.
    Once the process is finished, the newly created GEMINI database is ready to be used as an independent new cloned database.

  • Export button and Internet Explorer

    Hi, I am using the export button to export table data into .csv file. The file, when viewed via notepad looks like this:
    "Allen, G,""5258"",""31"",""MSI US"",""Printer ASIC"",""1"","""","""","""","""","""","
    Since there is a " at the start of the line and the very end, the entire row is considered a column and when opened in excel shows in one column only.
    This behavior is different when using the export button through the FireFox browser. The row, when viewed via notepad looks like this:
    "Allen, G",3083,31,MSI US,Printer ASIC,1,,,,,
    and when opened in excel shows each of the values above in a seperate column. Which is the right behavior.
    Any anyone help PLEASE. This is critical to our go live!
    Sheena

    In general, FWK export logic exports the text enclosed by " (double quotation) regardless of the browser. If original data includes ", it will be replaced with "" when exporting. This is also browser independent. Thus exported data should be same basically regardless of the browser, the behavior reported here should not be observed. As long as I quickly tested FWK export function using a testcase, I saw the exported text with quotations in IE and Firefox.
    Please file a bug to the product since the product might have own exporting logic. If product team thinks this issue is a fwk bug, please have them file a fwk bug with jdev testcase.

  • Exporting WAV Files with looping

    Hi
    I have a collection of sound effects that I've prepared in Logic. I've been exporting them to WAV files for use by another application. I do this with File->Export->Region as Audio File. This is all good.
    The prolem I have is that I'd like some of them to loop. So I've been using a PC and Sound Forge to add the WAV sustain information to the WAV file. I'd really like to keep my workflow on the Mac and in Logic.
    So, my question: is there a Mac app that can add the WAV sustain or can Logic export it? (I've tried Sound Studio and Audacity already with no success).
    cheers
    peter

    Even though Logic has a 'write loop to file' function, I often find that the loop info either doesn't stick, or is invisible to other apps.
    Loops added in DSPQuattro seem to always work, and probably with Peak too (I don't have Peak so I can't check.)
    But you can get SoundHack for free and that will also write readable loop points to files.
    No Logic user should be without it.
    It does so many useful things you can't usually do in DAW apps like Logic.
    Get it here:

  • How to export Web Provider automatically

    Hi,
    I need your experience on Portal 9iAs rel 2, on how to esport web providers automatically.
    I explain better: I use the export utility, (a very good utility) to export my pagegroup and all portlet reference.
    I didn't find any Oracle Exp Procedure to make a logical export of my web providers (All my Web Portal is developped with Web Providers).
    After making a logical export, after making a copy of my applciation, when I access in the providers builder to edit portelt, I find the old url... so I have to change all url reference... Is it possible ????
    Please tell me if exist some export procedure to copy my web portlet online.
    Thanks
    Tiz

    AFAIK, there's no template for generating web.xml.
    Navigate to <TomcatInstallDir>/webapps/
    You would find lot of directories - each one being a web application.
    Navigate to any one, say ROOT and then to the WEB-INF directory
    under that.
    You would find a web.xml.
    Copy it into your <web-application-dir>/WEB-INF folder and make necessary changes
    cheers,
