Logical Model Names

Is there anyway to show logical names in the logical model for the attributes? I can see that you can enter a synonym and it shows that but for the attributes it doesn't seem to be a way to show logical names in the same manner.
Other tools allow you to display business names, not names with underscores, in the logical model. I am looking to do the same thing with Data Modeler. Without this ability, the logical pretty much looks like the physical.

In that case where does the logical name get displayed in the logical model? I suspect the answer is somewhat similar in that you would enter the logical name and then transform to the physical.Correct. Why do you need to use physical names in logical model? You can use preferred abbreviation property in order to override translation with glossary. In this way you can have several relational models with different names in each one. Then you can create physical models and change the names in them depending on implementation specifics.

  • Finding "Default Logical System Name Model Instance" in DC Project

    Hi,
While Creating an Adaptive RFCModel, one defines the
Default Logical System Name for Model Instance & the
Default Logical System Name for RFCMetadata.
In which file can I find these settings at a later stage in the Project File Structure.
Ofcourse, I can view them in the WedynproContentAdministrator under the Jco Destinations.
But is there anyway to access them in the NWDS?
    Regards
    MK

    Hello MK,
You'll find the Logical System Names of the JCo destinations in the file ".wdproperties" under the project structure.

  • Default logical system names for application and metadata in models.

    hi,
I have a dbt in web dynpro java. When we create a model, we give the logical system names. When our developement is over, do we have to change these names because in test system and subsequently production system, the backends will be oviously different than developement ?
how do we change them and re import after changing? in abap we cant change our code in test and prod systems right  so how is it in web dynpro java ?
    thanks

    Hi Jeschael,
    thanks for the reponse.
When I create the model, I give the default logical system names and on the next screen I give the
ip address of the backend system, client , login, password etc
Even though the logical system names wud be same in Dev, Test and Prod systems, the ip address, login password is different so how do I give it ?

  • Define fields names in relation at logical model

    Hi all,
    Image
On a Logical Model, I have 2 entitys, Events and Menu, and has 2 relations.
When Engineer to Relational, creates 2 new fields in my Events Table, Menu_ID, Menu_ID1. There are some way, in the relation at logical model, to specify the names of the final fields, to avoid to change it later at relational model?

  • Importing multiple column names to Logical Model

I have approximately 2,000 column names to import into a new logical model and create my glossary. The names are in currently in .xls format. Is there an easy/efficient way to do this or must I enter each into the logical model attributes? Maybe a way to cut/paste multiple columns into the logical model?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
it's not clear what are you trying to achieve:
I have approximately 2,000 column names to import into a new logical model are you trying to create attributes in logical model - you also need entities that will contain these attributes.
and create my glossary. The names are in currently in .xls format.or you want to create glossary from your file. You need to transform your file in following format and import it in glossary editor using ERwin txt format:
    COUNTRY,CTRY,
    IDENTIFICATION,ID,
    REGION,REG,
    DEPARTMENT,DEPT,
Maybe a way to cut/paste multiple columns into the logical model?if you have tables with columns in relational model then you can use "Engineer to logical model" functionality to get entities and attributes in logical model.

  • Data Modeler / Logical Model / How to display the "relationship name" ?

    Hi,
Oracle SQL Developper Data Modeler 2.0.0 (build 584):
I would like to know if there is a way to display the "relationship name" in the diagram for the logical model in the GUI interface and/or to print it?
I checked in the different setup tool options and I did not find it...
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Robin Ouellet

    Hi Robin,
you cannot "show" relationship name on logical diagram - you can show "name on source" and "name on target" properties. You can set them at cardinality page of relationship dialog, And make them visible in "Tools>General options>Diagram>Logical model" settings - it's "Show Source/Target Name" option.
For printing - you can use "File>Print Diagram" to print in different format. Also "File>Print" allow diagram to be printed to printer, plotter or PDF printer if you have one installed.

  • How to change "Relation UID" attribute name in logical model?

Beginner question here, sorry if it has been covered already.
In the Logical model in Data Modeler, how do I change an attribute name which is used as a "Relation UID"?
For example, I create two entities each with a Primary UID called "id", then create a 1:1 relationship. Each entity will now have an attribute called "id1" marked as a Relation UID, but I can find no way to change the attribute's name. Is there a way?
    Thanks.

    Hi GuyM,
you need to check setting in preferences - "Data Modeler>Model>logical" - FK attribute name synchronization - clear the check box if you want to set the name manually.

  • Data Modeler 3.0 / Logical Model / Move relationship names

    Hi,
When showing relationship names in the logical model they often appear at a not so good place
(eg two labels at the same location, lable over a table name, lable showing nowhere near his relationship line, etc...)
In the former edition, when the model was still saved as a .xml file we had the possibility to 'move' the labels around
and put them at a more proper place and as such create a solid and clear schema.
In the new version (3.0.0....) it is no longer an xml file but a .dmd file that is created and it is no longer posiible to move the labels (relationship names).
    They can only be resized...
The loss of this functionality is ..... making me print the schemas whithout displaying the relationship name (if not the outprint is rather messy)
Is there a way to move the labels?
and if not , will it be re-enabled in a next edition?
    reards,
    E.

    Hello!
I have to follow this thread too.
    I use SDDM 3.3 EA2
The autorouting of FKs is great and at the same time annoying. Sometimes the endpoints of FK-Lines stick to entities and you can't move them to a correct position.
Sometimes when you position the FK-lines in a desired postion and you resize the subview the autorouting changes them. Very annoying!
Formating notes is possible but when you open the subview again the format is lost.
Positioning self joins is another 'tearing the rest of my hairs'
And you cannot set the width of borders of entities
And I'd like to have the possibiltiy to change or configure at least 2 or all fields of the legend
To offer something positiv. Thank you very much Philip, for adding the possibilty to change the grid size!
    Best wishes

you can change  rfc destinations of model in 2 differnet ways.
firs one: right clcik on project
from the context menu select propeties
it will open a dialogbox from that select dynpro references then click on jco references tab
by using add and remove buttons u can add and remove joc destnations

  • Changing the default logical system names for adaptive RFC models

    Hello,
When I create an Adaptive RFC model the dialog that asks me to specify the model name, package, source folder, etc. has default values in the "Default logical system name for model instances" and "... RFC metadata".
I know I can type in another name there but I'd like to change the default name to something that fits our naming conventions. Can I change that? If so, can someone tell me where?
    Thanks in advance!
    David.

    Suresh,
Thank you for your response. However, that is not what I was looking for. Sorry if my post was not clear.
I knew that I could change it AFTER the import. I also know that I can type in something else besides the default DURING the import.
What I am asking is if there is a way to change some configuration setting so that the 'default' that comes up in the drop down DURING the import is something different than what comes 'out-of-the-box' with NWDS.
Hope that clears up what I'm looking for.
    David.

  • How convert spaces in logical model to underscores in physical model

    Hi,
in Oracle Designer we used spaces in logical model objects (entities, attributes, relations) which were automatically converted to underscores when the physical model was generated from the logical one. Is there any way how do this conversion in Data Modeler? So far I have been able to convert mixed case in logical model to uppercase in physical model (with the exception of foreign keys) but changing space to underscores still eludes me.
Why I think this is important: the logical model should use "normal" language if possible, i.e. spaces, mixed case etc. But the physical model should have uppercase only and definitely no spaces. Having objects in Oracle defined with spaces leads to many difficulties since any reference to the object must use "" around the name of the object...
    Thanks
    Jakub

    Hi,
but the problems continues (even when the model is reduced to no entities at all!)
The error you reported (in engineering and import) cannot be reached if there are no entities and attributes - it's a specific error probably related to usage of distinct types that are removed from design.
You can use search functionality in order to find attributes/columns (logical/relational model) with incorrect data type definition based on distinct type.
And it's better to move to Data Modeler 4.0 (833).
So what to search (example is on logical model - it's the same for relational model - column):
    1) Activate search window (CTRL-F when logical diagram is active, or Find icon), switch to advanced mode
    2) for "Object type" Attribute:
    - check "Data Type kind" line and put DT as search text
    - check "Distinct type" line, don't put search text - it'll search for attributes without distinct type
    - change the operand for expression from OR to AND
    3) press "Find" button
If you find some attributes, then you need to decide what to do with them - to set data type or to delete them.
The same for columns in relational model.

  • Logical System Name 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST' is not properly defined in SLD

    Hi,
    Im getting this error message:
    <h3>
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST' not properly defined! Unable to create Metadata connection for Dictionary Provider. Either the logical System Name 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST' has not been properly defined in the System Landscape Directory, or you are not using a MsgServerDestination (AppServerDestinations are not permitted for Metadata connections)
    </h3>
What action should I take to fix this error? is this a web dynpro side error or basis error?
    Thanks!

    Dear TJ Ronald Amorado
Please test the JCO destination for the model data and meta data which you are using in the webdynpro model.
As per the error message you are getting 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST' is not defined in the QA.
Please create it in the QA manually and test it. Refer to document : - [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0c1d495-048e-2b10-babd-924a136f56b5?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0c1d495-048e-2b10-babd-924a136f56b5?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true]
Copy the name of the modeldata and metadata and use the same name in logical destination during model creation in webdynpro.
    Hope it will helps.

  • CIF - Integration model name and APO application

    Hi Experts,
In the CFM1 Transaction, there are 3 mandatory inputs are Model name, Logical system and APO application.
Logical systems are customized in CFC1 transaction. I couldn't trace the model name and application creation.
What is the transaction to customize/Create the new Model name and APO application.
Hope this is very simple question to you and expect your soon.

    Hi Somnath,
    Thanks for ur reply.
First I saved the selection as variant. But it was not updated in the IM table.
Then I tried to generate the model and now I can see the details when I use the F4 help.
So, to create a integration model need to generate the variant once.
    Thanks for the confirmation.

  • Help with logical model

Hi, I am new to this software and need some help with a simple logical model.
    Here is the task:
I need to create a model for a parking garage.
Each level can have any number of lots.
There are different types of lots (handicapped, women, regular, ...) with different Prices and Sizes.
It is important for the users and the system to know whether a lot is free or occupied.
It is crucial to assign numbers to the lots, so users can find it again.
    And this is my model:
    Level 1:n Lot n:1 Type
    (#Level) (#Number,*Availability) (#Type,*Price,*Size)
    Question:
Is it correct or would you change something? I am not quite sure whether to make availability and level an entity or an attribute of Lot.
Which data types do I need to assign each attribute? What is the difference between logical and domain?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Bhaskaran,
u can see the logs correspoding to your application in the server location..
    \usr\sap\<sid>\<instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\server0\
i think ur application folder will be there inside this or within one subdirectory here.

U can check the service entries in services file which is located in
    <Drive Name>:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc...
but normally in JCO Connection test , if it is not showing errors(especially MetaData) , then it means this entry is there in the services file.
