Logical Model Naming Standard (Title Case) and Foward ENGINEERING how to???

Hi,
I just installed the datamodeler v3.3.0.747.
I want to use the Title Case style as separator style in my logic Model... To do this, i go to the Preferences Settings (Tools > Preferences > Naming Starndard > Logic Model) and set the Title Case as separator Style...
However, when i do foward engineering of the logical model... The Style is omitted and everything is like the logical model... For example,
If i create an entity called: ManagedAccount, i will expected that when i do fwd enginnering, the table associated to that entity will be call as Managed_Account; However, i still getting ManagedAccount...
So, What am i doing wrong??? or this is a bug???
Thanks!

Hi,
in order to get it working in current release you need to create glossary even empty one and set its property "Incomplete Modifiers" to true (check the check box with that name), and to to add that glossary in "Tools>Preferences>Data Modeler>Naming Standard".
We'll change it in next release to work without glossary for this particular case.

  • Do I need Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, and if so, how do I get it now?

    Do I need Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, and if so, how do I get it now?
    Tuesday, 2008-07-29
    Due to prolonged illness, I purchased the Logic Studio Upgrade version (I already had Logic Pro 7.2.3, with dongle) only last week. Logic Studio Upgrade version initially installs Logic Pro version 8.0.0. I then dutifully set out to download both the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update and the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update.
    As of this week, all attempts and maneuvers to simply get the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update have failed. I cannot even find it, let alone download it!
    Yes, I've tried the relabeling juggling act to fool Software Update into eventually listing and providing both the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update and the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update—but no luck, not any longer. These moves may have worked up until relatively recently, but they do not work now, at least as of this week.
    All searching of Apple's site(s) and Support pages results in nada—Apple itself no longer lists any such file/dmg/download/update anywhere! All previous links are either dead or just dump one back on to the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update page.
    (In my many searches, I noted what seemed to me to be a majority of opinion that the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update was a dog, especially in Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 or 10.5.3. Many users reported crashes, panics, and.or freezes. Is this why Apple has pulled the update and rendered it extinct?)
    I Googled, I Asked Why, I Cuiled—but no Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, except as that which lurked in the murky warez waters. Still, frustrated as I was, I did even try all such I could find . . . but no third party-hosted update worked at all.
    I am concerned because in all my previous experience with Apple and its applications, ample information is made readily available about the contents of any update and an explanation of its relationship to previous updates. By this latter I mean: Apple indicates that update "x" incorporates the previous updates "u" and "v"; therefore one can proceed safely to install update "x" even if one missed updates "u" and "v" or for whatever reason did not install them.
    So . . . do I need Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, if I am then going to further update with the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update? Does Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update incorporate the changes made in Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update? Will I be missing (critically?) something(s) in Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update if I in fact do not ever get it or install it? And how would I know? Apple has not only removed the update and all traces of it, but Apple has also removed all information about Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update—it is now literally as if it never existed.
    So what's a po' boy to do? Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update cannot now be found on VersionTracker or MacUpdate or anywhere else. To date, no user group or organization or educational institution or program or audio-related company posted it or archived it.
    Where/how can I get a copy of the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update?
    If I can't, what do I do?
    If I can't, what do I miss?
    And where is Apple's support for Logic Studio/Logic Pro in all of this?
    Earnestly hoping,
    j.

    Rodger,
    Thank you for your gracious welcome . . .
    and thank you for your swift response . . .
    and thank you for your information (and encouragement!).
    Yes, I read that too, but searched in vain for the specifity of, say, your direction:
    "Go ahead and update to 8.0.2, as it contains the 8.0.1 update."
    So I shall!
    Again, many thanks.

  • Problem with Applying Naming Standards to Keys and Constraints

    Hi
    I have an issue, and not sure where to go. I have 3 relational models in 1 design. I set up my foreign key template. I applied it to the first relational model, and it worked like a charm. When I bring up the "Apply Naming Standards" window for the second model and click on OK, nothing happens. The window just stays there and the OK button turns gray. I checked the log, but no messages are written. I just have to click on cancel to close the window. Has anyone got any suggestions on what to do? I even went back in and changed a table name to make sure that a foreign key name should change, and still nothing happens.

    Hi Joep,
    thanks for design. I logged bug for that problem - some FK columns keep information about non existent foreign keys.
    Here is a transformation script you can run for relational model:
    columns = model.getColumnSet().toArray();
    for (var t = 0; t<columns.length;t++){
    column = columns[t];
    nodes = column.getRefColAndAssocIDs().toArray();
    for (var i = 0;i<nodes.length;i++){
       node = nodes;
    if(node.fkAssocId!=null){
    fk = column.getDesign().getDesignObject(node.fkAssocId);
    if(fk==null){
    column.removeFKAssociation(node.fkAssocId);
    column.setDirty(true);
    And of course you have to save design - it's better to use "save as".

  • I am getting random redirects and fear that I have been hijacked. How do I find out if that is indeed the case, and if so, how can I fix it?

    Sometimes when I click a link, I get redirected to "scour" which gives me a list of links that may or may not have anything to do with my search. Also, I play an app on Facebook and am experiencing hella lag and have also been redirected from there to random sites.

    For me Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials did not detect any malware or virus on my computer. Then I tried SuperAntispyware, Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware by Lavasoft. I would NOT recommend them. '''Most definitely do not install Lavasoft Ad-Aware.''' I installed these three programs and did a full scan. They all claimed to have found trojans, etc... and then disinfected and removed them. But they all left remnants and pieces all over the place and the malware kept replicating. It was an absolute mess! I uninstalled SuperAntispyware and Spybot but the Lavasoft Ad-Aware would not uninstall!! I first tried Ad/Remove Programs but it did not give me an "uninstall" button. Then I tried to go to the Start Menu where it had an "uninstall Ad-Aware" option in the Program group, but it was a lie, instead it tried to re-install itself. I ran rkill.exe and repeated everything in Safe-Mode... didn't help. I opened the command prompt in Safe-Mode, it would not let me delete the file AdAwareService.exe. I spent an entire day from morning until night going through the registry and windows files deleting every instance of Lavasoft and Ad-Aware. It fought back all the way but I finally killed it. If you look up reviews on these programs, they all get one or two stars out of five(?). I'm very surprised that Cor-el (the first reply) recommends them. Lavasoft Ad-Aware is bad news, don't install it.

  • Sql Developer Data Modeler 3.0 EA1: Preference- Naming standard- Templates

    I am trying to figure out how the naming standard templates work.
    When I go to:
    Preference -> Naming standard -> Templates
    It says that 'Attribute Relation' is '{ref entity} {ref attribute}'
    What is the consequence of this?
    I thought, it would mean that when creating a primary key attribute (ID) on an entity (DEPARTMENT), the related "foreign key" attribute (that is automatically created in related detail entities, such as EMPLOYEES) would be named DEPARTMENT ID.
    Instead it is just called ID. Is that the intended behavior?

    Marc,
    you should check "FK Attribute name synchronization" setting in "Preferences>Data Modeler>Model>Logical model" - probably it's checked and you cannot change the name of FK attribute.
    I found another bug here - FK attribute doesn't follow changes in referred entity - I logged it in bug database. As workaround you can apply defined templates at entity level (there is button in entity dialog) or for whole logical model (using pop-up menu in the browser).

  • Enforcing use of class word as naming standard via data modeler preferences

    Using data model preferences, I have set both the "attribute" and "column" naming standards to have mandatory name parts of both "prime word" and "class word". I have also used data model preferences to specify a glossary that has several terms of type "class word" defined.
    My assumption is that if I set a column naming standard preference to have class word as a mandatory name part, then I can apply the default design rules in my relational model and it will list an error "column with wrong naming standards" if any of my column names don't have a name part that is on the list of class words in the specified glossary. Is that assumption correct? If so, it doesn't seem to be working for me...
    How does SDDM determine if a class word is missing? I.e., how can I enforce a naming standard that all attribute/column names must have a class word from our approved list of class words?
    Thanks!

    My assumption is that if I set a column naming standard preference to have class word as a mandatory name part, then I can apply the default design rules in my relational model and it will list an error "column with wrong naming standards" if any of my column names don't have a >name part that is on the list of class words in the specified glossary. Is that assumption correct? yes it's correct.
    If so, it doesn't seem to be working for me...one of the settings cannot be changed - it's "Abbreviated only" in "Preferences>Data Modeler>Naming Standard". So only abbreviated part from glossary is taken into account - I logged bug for that.
    You can change it - it's in dl_settings.xml file in your design's directory - find - abbreviated_only="true".
    How does SDDM determine if a class word is missingIt needs glossary and separator setting.

  • Channel and Dist naming standards

    I'd like to solicit any advice on naming standards for Channels and
    Distributions. We are in our design phase and looking to put standards

    very hard to do that in a short time.. for channels
    1) figure out what you want to patch / install / do
    2) figure out which kind of services you have you want to do 1) with
    3) figure out which kind of hardware / os you are running 2) on
    4) figure out which locations have different requirements to 1) to 3)
    5) think about having an at least 2 phase approach, better 3 to rollout
    distributions, 2 phase = testing and rollout, 3 phase = testing, initial
    rollout, final rollout
    for example...
    some people would like to patch their webservers... so you create a
    webserver channel... but perhaps not all of them have to same content... so
    you create another channel for every content
    some people would like to use ZDM application distribution so they create
    an app channell... but than they figure out they would like to do
    loadbalancing in a site so you need one channel for every site...
    some people would like to patch their nw server... but it is not a good
    idea to rollout the patch to all servers at the same time... so you create
    a channel to test the patch, one channel to do a initial install on a
    average of you server environment, and another one for the rest of the
    servers..
    and so on ;-)
    best way is to really play around with the product first to find the
    limitations to your ideas and after that good planning.
    if you put 1 to 5 into the channelname the channels should scale very well
    distribution naming is similar

  • Data Modeler: Naming

    OK guys, I'm struggling.
    I've watched the on-line tutorials, read the white papers (especially "Naming Standardization"), and looked through the help pages. There are so many options for controlling naming that I think I'm lost in the trees trying to find the forest. Between the name, short name, synonym, synonym to display, preferred abbreviation, naming rules, glossaries, naming standards, templates, object name prefixes, name abbreviations, name translations, design rules, and classification types, I'm a bit overwhelmed.
    I'd like to take this logical model:
    | facility category |
    facility category identifier <PK>
         1:1
          |
          |
          |
         0:M
    | facility |
    facility identifier <PK>
    facility category id <FK>and create the following relational model:
    | t_fac_cat |
    fac_cat_id <PK>
      1:1
       |
       |
       |
      0:M
    | t_fac |
    fac_id <PK>
    fac_cat_id <NN,FK>which, in turn, generates this DDL:
    create table t_fac (
         fac_id integer  not null ,
         fac_cat_id integer  not null ) ;
    alter table t_fac add constraint pk_fac primary key ( fac_id ) ;
    create table t_fac_cat ( fac_cat_id integer  not null ) ;
    alter table t_fac_cat add constraint pk_fac_cat primary key ( fac_cat_id ) ;
    alter table t_fac
        add constraint fk_fac_cat_2_fac foreign key ( fac_cat_id )
        references t_fac_cat ( fac_cat_id ) ;Note: I could live with the relational model table names not being prefixed with a 't_' as long as the DDL includes it.
    I think the tool has the ability to do what I want, but I'm missing how all the parts fit together to enable me to accomplish my goal.
    Does anyone have a simple approach that might decrease the learning curve a bit?

    Well,
    I'll try to explain it in several posts.
    I. Name abbreviations tool
    this is something separate from big picture but can be useful in some cases.
    1. Create a text file containing <name,abbreviation> pairs - name forum.csv and content:
    facility,fac
    category,cat
    identifier,id
    2. Set following template for PK name (it's in Naming standard>Templates):
    pk_{table}
    3. Set following template for FK column name:
    {ref column}
    4. Set following template for FK name:
    fk_{parent abbr}_2_{child abbr}
    2), 3) and 4) are according your example
    5. Create tables (not entities) in relation model using full names, no abbreviations
    following DDL is generated:
    CREATE TABLE facility
    facility_identifier INTEGER NOT NULL ,
    facility_category_identifier INTEGER NOT NULL
    ALTER TABLE facility
    ADD CONSTRAINT pk_facility PRIMARY KEY ( facility_identifier ) ;
    CREATE TABLE facility_category
    facility_category_identifier INTEGER NOT NULL
    ALTER TABLE facility_category
    ADD CONSTRAINT pk_facility_category PRIMARY KEY ( facility_category_identifier ) ;
    -- ERROR: FK name length exceeds maximum allowed length(30)
    ALTER TABLE facility
    ADD CONSTRAINT fk_facility_category_2_facility FOREIGN KEY
    facility_category_identifier
    REFERENCES facility_category
    facility_category_identifier
    6. Invoke "Name abbreviations" and select forum.csv file, leave the rest as it is, press ok - message appear with list of changed objects and here is the new status:
    CREATE TABLE fac
    fac_id INTEGER NOT NULL ,
    fac_cat_id INTEGER NOT NULL
    ALTER TABLE fac
    ADD CONSTRAINT pk_fac PRIMARY KEY ( fac_id ) ;
    CREATE TABLE fac_cat
    fac_cat_id INTEGER NOT NULL
    ALTER TABLE fac_cat
    ADD CONSTRAINT pk_fac_cat PRIMARY KEY ( fac_cat_id ) ;
    ALTER TABLE fac
    ADD CONSTRAINT fk_fac_cat_2_fac FOREIGN KEY
    fac_cat_id
    REFERENCES fac_cat
    fac_cat_id
    7. Change abbreviations with related full name - it's possible to restore initial status if abbreviations in file (forum.csv in our example) are unique - they are in our case;
    - repeat step 6) but now for "Direction" select "Abbreviation to name".
    8. Well, if we want to have long names for table and columns (i.e. table "facility_category" and column "facility_category_identifier") we'll get into problem with names for objectors that use these names in their name template (see 'Naming standard>Templates"). We can use table abbreviation and column abbreviation in name templates however we have to define these abbreviations. This can be done manually using dialogs for each table/column or "Name abbreviations" toll can be used.
    8.1 change template for primary key to *pk_{table abbr}* - (we already set template for FK as fk_{parent abbr}_2_{child abbr}
    8.2 Invoke "Name abbreviations" and select forum.csv file, and select "Abbreviations" for "Scope"; press ok - report is shown for applied changes
    9. We need to generate names according changed templates and defined abbreviations. This could be done at relation model level or at table level - at least this is the idea however bug was introduced in patch 1 (build 584) and "Apply naming standards for key and Constraints" at model level works only for foreign key columns. So, we have to apply naming templates at table level. And new DDL is:
    CREATE TABLE facility
    facility_identifier INTEGER NOT NULL ,
    facility_category_identifier INTEGER NOT NULL
    ALTER TABLE facility
    ADD CONSTRAINT pk_fac PRIMARY KEY ( facility_identifier ) ;
    CREATE TABLE facility_category
    facility_category_identifier INTEGER NOT NULL
    ALTER TABLE facility_category
    ADD CONSTRAINT pk_fac_cat PRIMARY KEY ( facility_category_identifier ) ;
    ALTER TABLE facility
    ADD CONSTRAINT fk_fac_cat_2_fac FOREIGN KEY
    facility_category_identifier
    REFERENCES facility_category
    facility_category_identifier
    10. Logical model - at this point I will transform tables to entities in relational model in order to have starting point for next example. You can check that table abbreviation goes to "Short Name" for entity

  • How to set naming standard that sets max number of words in column name?

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to set naming standard that sets max number of words in colum (or table) name?
    I was looking video (1:08min)
    http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/sqldev/UserDefinedDesignRules/UserDefinedDesignRules.html
    And here you can see how rule is triggered.
    "...Name has 2 words; Max permitted - 1".
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
    you need to create glossary and set it in naming standards for your design.
    This document is still valid - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/datamodeler/datamodelernamingstandards-167685.pdf
    Naming standard settings are located :
    - DM 3.x - "Preferences>Data Modeler>Naming Standard"
    - DM 4.0 - Design dialog>Settings>Naming Standard
    If you want only check on number of words then glossary can be empty and you can set "Incomplete modifiers" option in that glossary.

  • Logical model cannot refer to 'remote objects'?

    Hi
    Using DM 3.3.0.747.
    In the relational model one can drag and drop in a table from another relational model from a separate design.  This shows that table as a linked table and can be refreshed via the 'Synchronize Remote Objects' and allows that table to be referenced from your 'local' tables (i.e. used in foreign keys).
    I tried the same, but for a logical model entity.  This does not work/is not allowed?  What is the expected behaviour?
    We would like to use this for logical models as well.  (So that we may develop/document the logical models separate, but use common/shared entities in the same way possible in relational models.  This will help us a lot in keeping the models smaller and easier to manage and version control.)
    Thank you & Regards

    Hi Ed,
    I presume you had some relationships in the Logical Model that you were expecting to be engineered to Foreign Key relationships in the Relational Model.
    Please can you provide more detail to help resolve your problem. For example:
    Was the problem on an initial engineer from the logical model? Or on a re-engineer?
    Are you using Entity subtyping in your Logical Model?
    Are there any relevant error messages in the log file? (This is normally file datamodeler.log in folder datamodeler\datamodeler\log.)

  • Importing multiple column names to Logical Model

    I have approximately 2,000 column names to import into a new logical model and create my glossary. The names are in currently in .xls format. Is there an easy/efficient way to do this or must I enter each into the logical model attributes? Maybe a way to cut/paste multiple columns into the logical model?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
    it's not clear what are you trying to achieve:
    I have approximately 2,000 column names to import into a new logical model are you trying to create attributes in logical model - you also need entities that will contain these attributes.
    and create my glossary. The names are in currently in .xls format.or you want to create glossary from your file. You need to transform your file in following format and import it in glossary editor using ERwin txt format:
    COUNTRY,CTRY,
    IDENTIFICATION,ID,
    REGION,REG,
    DEPARTMENT,DEPT,
    Maybe a way to cut/paste multiple columns into the logical model?if you have tables with columns in relational model then you can use "Engineer to logical model" functionality to get entities and attributes in logical model.

  • Data Modeler / Logical Model / How to display the "relationship name" ?

    Hi,
    Oracle SQL Developper Data Modeler 2.0.0 (build 584):
    I would like to know if there is a way to display the "relationship name" in the diagram for the logical model in the GUI interface and/or to print it?
    I checked in the different setup tool options and I did not find it...
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Robin Ouellet

    Hi Robin,
    you cannot "show" relationship name on logical diagram - you can show "name on source" and "name on target" properties. You can set them at cardinality page of relationship dialog, And make them visible in "Tools>General options>Diagram>Logical model" settings - it's "Show Source/Target Name" option.
    For printing - you can use "File>Print Diagram" to print in different format. Also "File>Print" allow diagram to be printed to printer, plotter or PDF printer if you have one installed.
