Logical Partitioning/Geolocation and Device Mobility

Hello,
I have a customer with a CUCM 8.6 cluster that supports a number of countries including India.
They have the Logical Partitioing feature enabled to make the system comply with Indian regulations for telecoms that forbid toll bypass etc.
They have now started using Jabber for Windows and have a number of users who are based in India but often travel to other countries.
When they do this they are not allowed to use voice gateways in the country they are visiting to place calls because of the geolocation configuration applied to their Jabber CSF device.
In CUCM 8.6 the geolocation seems fixed to the device (or device pool) and cannot be updated using the Device Mobility feature.
Is this feature supported/roadmapped for any later versions of CUCM? (or is there a reason why this would not be possible?)

Has this always been the case for you or did you update recently and it started happening?  There appears to be some sort of conflict with some machines and new changes to the kernel to allow quicker mode setting.  See http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 47#p659347.  I had to add !radeon to my MODULES list in /etc/rc.conf to get X to even work at all.  I don't run anything that uses OpenGL so I don't know if it'll address your issue.
You may also want to take a look at http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 20#p662920 and add intel_agp radeon (that's two modules, in that order) to your MODULES list.
Well, I was having the graphical corruption issue in that first thread until I added the nomodeset boot flag. As for the modesetting, I think it directly conflicts with my boot flag, and without it, I get corruption. =/

  • Using one logical partition for / and /boot

    Hi
on my pc i have windows and a linux. i want to install Arch and have all of them. there are some windows (ntfs) partition on my hard disk, a swap area and 2 linux partition that one of them is used by ubuntu (/boot, / , /home .....of ubuntu are in one partition which is ext4). is it possible to use the same method for Arch? i mean , i do not want to have a seperate /boot partition for Arch. is it possible? if yes, what is the recommended file system for that partition? can i use ext4? (some distroes do not support booting from an ext4.)
    Regards

You can use one partition for arch, with no separate /boot, and arch can boot from ext4.

  • SoftRaid0: 1 of 3 md's no speed enhancment (using logical partitions)?

    Hi!
Before I forget to mention it: I don't really know much about raid & stuff (I'm surprised myself I got it running), so don't think a possible explanations is too obvious/simple - I might have missed it anyway
I've got 3 (+ backup) Raid0's on the same 2 sata hd's. The first two seem to work with the right speed, the third one only normal / half of it. The only difference I could find is that md2 consists of logical partitions - md0 and md1 have their own primary partition each.
All in infos in order md0/1/2
    /dev/md0 partition 3999992 76416 -1 (<= cat /proc/swaps)
    /dev/md1 on /home type ext4 (rw)
    /dev/md2 on / type ext4 (rw)
    /dev/md0: 3.81GiB raid0 2 devices, 0 spares.
    /dev/md1: 889.97GiB raid0 2 devices, 0 spares.
    /dev/md2: 18.63GiB raid0 2 devices, 0 spares.

    /dev/sda2 32 280 2000092+ fd Linux raid autodetect
    /dev/sda3 281 58369 466599892+ fd Linux raid autodetect

    /dev/sda6 59586 60801 9767488+ fd Linux raid autodetect
sd*6 (sometimes md3) is a spare raid that shares the same extended partition - and low speed. Most of the time it is not assembled though, which doesn't change anything for md2.
    Any Ideas?

Still the same, didn't manage to figure anything more out about that.
Could someone with Extended soft-raid maybe just confirm, if
    a) It's the same as with my "slow partition"
    b) It's also possible to be "fast"
    Or something... anything?
    thx!

  • Geolocation (Logical Partition) on Mobility with Smartphones

    Hello
We have a new project coming up and the primary requirement is Smartphone Integration with CUCM. (Nokia, Iphone and Android Phones)..
This project will be deployed in India and now my concern is, since here in India there are DOT regulations for TEHO.
When I configure a Smartphone to integrate with CUCM, if this smartphone user tries to make a call to another IP phone extension at a different location over the WAN and while this call is on, if he conference this with a local PSTN number from his VOIP line on the smartphone then this is going to be a violation.
To avoid this problem in India, I know Cisco introduced the Geolocation (Logical partition feature).
But do these smart phones support the Geolocation configuration.
I read in the release notes of CUCM that
" Logical partitioning handling does not take place in the following circumstances:
    • Geolocation or geolocation filter does not associate with the involved devices.
    • No logical partitioning support exists when a dual-mode phone is used. "
Can you help me with a confirmation on this and if possible a better solution to ensure no violation of any regulation while using Smartphone as IP Phone extensions.
    Thanks in Advance
    Abraham Sebastian

Windows 8.1 can run on either partition. The biggest issue with MBR over GPT is that MBR is limited to the size od disks supported. 4 partitions of up to 2TB max. GPT has a theoretical limit of 9.4 Zettabytes (10 Billion TB). You may also run into a problem if you are dual booting (or more). If neither of those two things concern you, then just leave well enough alone. About the Virtual hard drive, do you really need them? They will just eat up more space on the real harddrive. Are you going to use a Virtual machine?

I currently use an iPhone, an iPad, and a Mac computer for business.  The three devices have Contacts Managers that sync with each other through both Google and through Mobile Me.  Currently, this has created a mess of duplicate contacts.  Please advise me on the steps necessary for removing these duplicates and establishing a syncing solution that doesn't regenerate the duplicates.  There are several applications available that remove duplicates, but I am not sure which ones work or don't work.  I want information on this, but most importantly I want to understand how to fix this problem permanently.  Also, I read somewhere that Mac's new operating system, Lion, can help deal with duplicates.  I don't have Lion, but I would be willing to get it, if this would fix the problem.

Had the same problem with 4 devices (two computers, an iPhone and an iPod). The solution is simple: open the Address Book application in your mac, ask it to locate duplicate entries (under one of the top menu items, "edit" I think), and then ask it to consolidate them: it took me all of three seconds after I figured it out: worked like a charm! PS: if you have more than one mac with unconected Address Books, repeating the operation in the second one may be a good idea.

after downloading osx 10.9.2 when i open my logic pro 9 and begin to audition loops that came with lp9 i get a message that says "audio device has been removed  and then a second message the " select driver not found(-10202). my interface is a apogee duet. Can anyone provide a solution to this problem. Thanks

    YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!
    I got it!!! Yes!!!
Guys, I've solved my problem about that error -10202 (Selected driver not found).
I have installed in my Mac Pro (OS X 10.5.8) a document with an extension ".rsrc" to correct the position of the accents in my keyboard, like acute accent, tilde and circumflex.
That file is called "U.S. - International.rsrc" and it's stored in the following path:
    "Macintosh HD/Library/Keyboard Layouts"
So, when it's properly installed, I can choose 2 country flags on the right side of the menu bar (U.S. - International and Brazilian).
    That's the clue!
When I pick up "U.S. - International", my keyboard works fine with the accents, >>>BUT<<< Logic Pro 9 doesn't recognize my audio driver; and when I pick up "Brazilian", my keyboard doesn't work with the accents exactly as it shows me on each key, BUT Logic Pro 9 DOES recognize my audio driver.
So, when I want to write anything out, I will pick up the "US - International" and when I want to work on the Logic Pro 9, I will pick up "Brazilian".
I hope I can help all of you.
    Regards,
    Renato Veiga.

  • Merge physical and logical partitions

How do I extend my physical arch partition with an unallocated space logical partition?
I want to add an unallocated space logical partition to a physical partition
or better said I want to grow my existing arch physical partition with the unallocated space logical partition.

It is not that easy. You can resize and/or move either physical partitions or locical partitions inside the space of the (physical) "extended partition". But you cannot simply take space from a logical partion and assign it to a physical partition adjacent to the extended partition it is part of. Which means you can extend a physical partion only from free space which you can produce by a prior shrinking/moving another adjacent physical partition.
The problem is, I currently know of no way to shrink an extended partition without losing some of the enclosed logical partition data (or even all logical partions at once). One could try, as a proper backup is advisable in any case before messing around with partitions.

  • What's the relation between mobile components and device profile?

We get the requirement to assigne Mobile components to device profiles.
    As a comparison for understanding,
R/3:    authorization is assigned to user profiles
MI:      Mobile components are assigned to device profile.
Am I right? If so, are mobile components basically predefined by SAP since
security authorizations are basically  provided by SAP?
    Thanks!

    Hello jennifer,
A Mobile Component is any part of Software which will be deployed and wich is running on a mobile device.
This could be for example a Database, JVM, Mobile Client or of course a mobile application (developed or pre-packaged).
A Device Profile is a kind of grouping mechanism which helps you to assign the Mobile Components to a large number of devices.
For Example you create a Device Profile which includes the Mobile Components (DB,JVM, Mobile Client and your Mobile application ). You only need to create this Device Profile once and you can assign it do many devices.
This helps you to administer your devices in a very efficient way.
    I hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Stefan

  • Hello after updating to the new iTunes i got a box saying that i needed a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support and ihat i should uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support then install iTunes again.  I have been unable to uninstall itunes

Hello- after updating to the new iTunes i got a box saying that i needed a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support and ihat i should uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support then install iTunes again.  Problem is I have been unable to uninstall itunes, can't find the installation files .msi.  I'm using Windows XP.
    Help!

Problem is I have been unable to uninstall itunes, can't find the installation files .msi.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Why logical partition is a must for voting disk and OCR

    Hi Guys,
I just started handling jobs for RAC installation, I have a simple question regarding the setup.
Why does logical partition have to be used for voting disk and OCR?
I tried partition the disk that were provisioned for voting disk and OCR with primary partition but when OUI is trying to recognize the disk, it cannot find the disk that has been partitioned with primary partition.
    Thank you,
    Adhika

    Hello Adhika,
I found it on this doc http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b28250/storage.htm
Be aware of the following restrictions for partitions:
    * You cannot use primary partitions for storing Oracle Clusterware files while running the OUI to install Oracle Clusterware as described in Chapter 5, "Installing Oracle Clusterware". You must create logical drives inside extended partitions for the disks to be used by Oracle Clusterware files and Oracle ASM.
    * With 32-bit Windows, you cannot create more than four primary disk partitions for each disk. One of the primary partitions can be an extend partition, which can then be subdivided into multiple logical partitions.
    * You can assign mount points only to primary partitions and logical drives.
    * You must create logical drives inside extended partitions for the disks to be used by Oracle Clusterware files and Oracle ASM.
    * Oracle recommends that you limit the number of partitions you create on a single disk to prevent disk contention. Therefore, you may prefer to use extended partitions rather than primary partitions.
For these reasons, you might prefer to use extended partitions for storing Oracle software files and not primary partitions.
    All the best,
