Logical System and Client copy

Hi Gurus ,
I just now finished ECC 6.0 successfully , I want to take the client copy . But i hacve one doubt , In client creation one TAB logical system is there , Kindly advice me how to create Logical system and steps .
Regards
Selvan

Hi Manjula ,
Below i mentioned the full detail about the error .
RFC destination for client copy in systems with Financials Basis (FINBASIS) component.
The system could not find any suitable RFC destination for processing for client 000. This note also appears if an RFC destination was found but this does not work. o RFC destination: FINBTR@ID3CLNT000 o Error text: Error during the retrieval of the logon data Proceed as follows to eliminate this error:
1. Start the wizard to create a new RFC connection or perform the following steps manually: 1. Create an RFC destination with the target ZK>source client of client copy (in this case 000).
2. Check whether the RFC destination works in transaction SM59. To avoid errors when assigning the password or the authorizations of the RFC user, use the authorization test Test -> Authorization.
3. Enter the RFC destination: - Transaction: FINB_TR_DEST (Destinations for Transport Methods of the Financials Basis) - Client: 000
4. Start the client copy again.
Kindly advice me

• EBP Logical system after client copy

Hi Friends,
We did a client copy for our EBP system from the production system.
Now when I access the system to create invoice, the below error
prompted.
Error message
Error calling META BAPI META_CALCULATE_TAX
Error occurred calling META_BAPI_DISPATCH
In the debug mode for F/M META_BAPI_DISPATCH , I could see the logical system
still pointing to the live system.
So far Basis already changed all the logical system entries.
Hope someone could give some hint to solve the problem
Many thanks
Mike

Dinesh,
We are using SRM Standalone. No sync with backend product categories. In the debug mode I could see the system getting the logical system = "production sys" for business object BUS2205 (invoice).
Belief there is some setting for logical system still need tobe changed.
Hope you could give some hint.
Many thanks.
Mike.

• Extraction failing after source system and client copy

Hi all,
We refreshed our source QA system with a copy of production. And basically tried to "restore" the connection from our BW QA system. Some of the datasources can be extracted from BW, others fail with an error of "No transfer structure is available for InfoSource 0COSTCENTER_ATTR in the source system".
Trying to do the same thing with RSA3 in the source system, works fine.
The strange thing is it works for some objects but not others.
here's what we did:
1. System copy from R3 Prod to R3 QA
2. Client copy with R3 QA client 300 -> 200
3. Restore connectivity in BW QA to the R3 QA system (Using RSA1 -> Source System -> Restore)
4. Now some objects can be extracted in BW, others fail as I mentioned above.
I have regenerated the transfer structures in BW and R3.
All of these objects that don't work seem to work in RSA3 on the R3 system but not in RSA1 on BW.
All the SAP documentation is geared to copying the R3 source system and then restoring connectivity between BW and R3. I don't think any of it involves copying the client in the R3 source system - which might be causing our problems.
We are using an SAP delivered PDF and note 886102 mainly for direction.
SAP PDF is "How to... System Copy in SAP Business Intelligence System Landscapes".
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,
can you isolate somehow the kind of DataSource which works and those who don't?
Master data / transactional or client dependent and not, delta or full....
To which R/3 client is your BW connected? when you succeed loading the data, is it coming from the right client?
RSA3: do you run it specifying your BW client in the target sys field? does it make a difference if yes or if not?
Are your RFC connections and partner profiles all right?
Check some IDOCs sent by BW received in R/3 and vice-versa (RSSEND, RSINFO, RSRQST..). Load a hierarchy (via IDOC)... verify that your IDOC have the correct partner settings....
let us know

• "Logical System" & "Assign Logical System to Client"

Hi Experts,
I'm new to Basis, I have the following systems installed:
1. EBP and SUS are installed in same server with different client:
EBP: E01 with client 100
SUS: E01 with client 200
2. ECC system is installed at a separate setver
ECC: D01 with client 100
My question is, in EBP client which logical systems and client assigments need to be done?
What I confused is, for the EBP and ECC they have same client number 100, in EBP client , the client number 100
should be assigned to EBP or to ECC?
Kindly please guide.
Thanks and best regards
Jack

Hello Jacky,
You can assign the client number 100 to EBP and ECC systems, it doesn't create any problem. Because when you logical system in EBP, you need to create two logical systems one for EBP and ECC, but you need to assign client 100 to EBP only, same goes to the other side also.

• Logical Systems for client 000 and 001

I've just install solman 7.0 ehp1 sr1 and am going to create a new client from 001.
Do I need to create logical systems for clients 000 and 001?
Do I need to creat rfc's for these?
Thanks,
Daniel

no, no need.
you will create a logical system name for the copied client (such as 100)

• Logical system and rfc destination related Query?

Hi Dudes
Do we need to define logical system and RFC destination if they are in different clients in same server
Regards
Raj Kumar

Hi
Both are client independent setting, so even if you define in one client, it would be available in other clients also.

• ALE logical system to client

Hi,
Is assignment of SAP logical system to client mandatory...
I understand that we can give dummy names like SAP_A as logical systems but is it mandatory to assign them to clients..
I think Idoc can be sent to the respective SAP system through ports instead of a particular LS

this client assignment to logical system is about your sending system.
the steps for ALE config are following only:
1) IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Basic Settings > Logical systems > Define Logical System
2) IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Configure Predefined ALE Business Processes > Logistics > Logistics <-> External Systems > External Transportation Planning Systems > Maintain ALE Port Definition (Transaction WE21)
3) IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Global Organizational Units > Cross-System Company Codes (Transaction OB72, SALE, OBB5)
4) IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Maintain Distribution Model and Distribute Views (Transaction BD64)
5) IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Configure Predefined ALE Business Processes > Logistics > Master Data Distribution > Proposal for distribution model: Customer and vendor masters (Transaction WYL2)
6) IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Configure Predefined ALE Business Processes > Logistics > Logistics <-> External Systems > External Transportation Planning Systems > Maintain ALE Partner Profiles (Transaction WE20)

• Business System and Client

Hi
I checked many treads and still I couldn't get a satisfactory explanation to the difference between Business System and Client. I read in help.sap site that multiple business systems can be assigned to a single technical system and also each numbered client of an SAP system is a Unique Business System ? So are client and business system one ? If so why use it interchangably ? And if many business systems can be assigned to the technical system how do we specify a related Integration Server ? As I understand only one Business System can be assigned Integration server. So if we assign many business systems to one technical system then how can we have related Integration server for all ? I couldn't get a satisfactory explanation to this doubt in any thread in this forum
Midhun

>>each numbered client of an SAP system is a Unique Business System ?
It could be. But it is not necessary that each client of SAP system is communicating with PI. If it is then there will be one Business System for each client.
>> So are client and business system one ?
No. Client is more substantial category in SAP system. Business system just defines the logical name to these clients if they communicate with PI.
>> If so why use it interchangably ?
Actually they can't be used interchangably always. The only relation is that for each client of SAP system, there could be only one Business system.
>>And if many business systems can be assigned to the technical system how do we specify a related Integration Server ?
For related Integration Server name, you need to select the PI Business system name which would communicate with your business system. For a single SLD scenario you will see PI Dev, Q and Prod business systems.
>> As I understand only one Business System can be assigned Integration server.
Correct. Its a PI Business system.
>> So if we assign many business systems to one technical system then how can we have related Integration server for all ?
For all Business systems of 1 technical system, you need to select the same PI Business system name.

• Export/Import and Client Copy

Hi All,
Could you please help me with what are the major differences between Export/Import...client copy...and a System Refresh. How they differ from each other.
Regards
Rajesh

Hello Rajesh ,
I have capture some data from SAP Help :
Local Copy: Copying Clients Within a System:
You can improve the performance of the client copy by, for example, by excluding tables or packages, with Edit -> Expert Settings.
You can exclude tables from the client copy, for example if they are not relevant for the target client, in the Tables tab
Copying Clients Between Systems (Remote Copy):
The same product is installed, with the same release, in both systems
The client copier can copy a client into another system. The systems can be on different platforms. You can change the client number.
When you copy a client from one system to another, the data is transferred directly via the RFC interface - there is no intermediate storage on hard disk.
Transporting Clients Between Systems ;Client export (SCC8):
The client copier can copy a client into another system, which can be on a different platform. You can change the client number.
You are no longer required to transport clients before you can copy them between systems. You can make a remote copy instead.
Up to three transport requests are created, depending on the selected copy profile and the existing data.
The transport request for texts is e.g. only created if the source client contains customer texts.
<sid>KO<no> cross-client data
<sid>KT<no> client-specific data
<sid>KX<no> texts and forms
The data export is performed automatically asynchronously. The output of the export includes the names of the transport requests that are to be imported.
Import transport requests into the target client (STMS)
Choose one of the transport requests of the client transport in the Transport Management System (TMS). The other transport requests belonging to this client transport are then automatically added in the correct order.
Import these transport requests into the target client.
client import postprocessing (SCC7)
You need to perform postprocessing activities to adapt the runtime environment to the current state of the data.
Copy by Transport Request :
This function transports customizing changes that have been recorded in a transport request between two clients in a system.
You can choose whether you only copy the object list of the request or also the object lists of unreleased tasks in the request.
Entries in the target client are overwritten or deleted according to the key entries in the transport request.
Choose Administration -> System administration -> Administration -> Client admin. ->Special Functions -> Copy Transport Request.

• Logical system and rfc destination

hello all,
what is the difference between logical system and RFC destination?
thanks for ur help in advance.
regards,
vikas

Hi,
In any ALE scenario u need one sender and one receiver system.
Logical systems are just logical representation of these systems but in case of RFC destination u specify technical parameters for those systems like IP address and username and password to connect to that system.
Thus when u create port i.e.we21 u specify actual RFC destination for the system to which u want to connect and when u create partner profile for that logical system u specify this port so when u want to send data to this logical system i.e receiver system port will be used which in turn has RFC destination which will be used to connect to that system.
In simple terms logical systems are logical representation of any system and RFC destinations are physical/techinical systems.

• Logical system and business system

Hi experts, please help me with the below questions---
1) What is the diff between logical system and business system?
2)what is the difference between logical system(defined in R/3) and business system (defined in SLD) in idoc to file scenario.
3) Is it require to give the logical system name of the xi server(Which we define in idx1 port) to the 3rd party system(Application system at the FTP side) to carry out file to idoc scerario?

Hi,
Business System :
1. Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within XI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems. Depending on the associated technical system.
2. Business Systems should be mandatory used when dealing with Idoc's and Proxies .
Business Service:
1. Business Service requires manual adding on Inbound and Outbound Interfaces, Business Systems do not.
2. Business Services are maintained across environments and so, their names cannot be changed. Business Systems names can be changed across environments by providing SLD level transport targets.
3.In the Business Services we cannot maintain the Group and Targets in SLD. For Ease in transporting your ID/Configuration objects Groups and Targets are used in SLD for Business Systems.
4.Business Service has no SLD Entries and No Assigned Products and SWCV's

• AC 5.3 Logical systems and multiple Physical systems

HI all:
We have set up a Logical System, and then have hooked up 2 Physical systems to it. Based on the documentation from SAP, the rule set (and the way we set it up) is at the Logical system level.
Physical system #1 is reporting the correct results, however, Physical system #2 results are not complete. My understanding is that both Physical systems should be drawing from the rule set based in the Logical system.
Results: Physical system #1 - correctly identifies 10 risks
Physical system #2 - incorrectly only identifies 5 of the expected 10 risks.
Role assignment to user is exactly same, authorizations are exactly the same. The User/Role/Profile Full Sync has been repeated as part of troubleshooting.
Has anyone experienced this? I'm looking for ideas/options on where to investigate why the results are different.
Thanks
Margaret

HI:
Thanks for answering!! I'm having trouble understanding the answers, sorry.
When you have a logical system...you upload the rules once to that system, and generate them. Then when you set up a physical system and hook it up to the logical system...the 1st, 2nd or 3rd physical system....they all use the same ruleset. The whole concept (as I understand) is that the use of Logical and Physical systems...and putting the rule set on the Logical system so you don't have to worry about one rule set taking precedence over another, is an advantage, if this is possible (ie: we don't have multiple rule sets).
Where should I be checking that the risks are defined properly? The rule set is the delivered one from SAP. The functions and risks match what we had (plus more) in the CC 4.0 system.
The first physical system we set up (example: Development) works fine, and all regular SoD risks are coming up as expected. When we added another system (example: Test)...the results of SoD analysis were incomplete.
Does that help clarify? Perhaps I'm just missing something?

• Steps to create a logical system for client 001.

Hi,
In client 000 go to transaction scc4. There you create your new client for sap netweaver abap trial version for BI?
Here, can you give me steps to create a logical system with client 001 using tcode scc4.
Thanks,
Kannan

hi
 First log on to SAP R/3 server connections Go to SCC4 in R/3 & in Scc4 BW server. A screen opens in that logical name of the system would be opened in both (R/3 & BW).
 Take notepad in it save .R/3 & BW logical names go to R/3 & click SM59 to create R/3 connections click then a screen opens gives BW logical name in RFC Destination option & give connection. type 3 & give some description & then press enter.
 You will get another screen under it then at target host gives BW server name we will get it from BW logon change ID, IP address option & give the system no. The system no go to logon pad just drag it then you will see the name.
 Then click on log on securities go to log on give BW server details like No, client user Password. Then save it then click test connection tab if there are errors then it gives yellow color if they are no error the whole thing come as white.
 Then click on the Remote Logon then we go to BW server give RFC – SM59 & click create. Then give the server name which is at the bottom right corner give it then give the no, name, password in logon Security save it & test connection & then remote logon.
 R/3 - B W - R/3
 Logical connection source system connection is used to transfer the data from R/3 to BW. Go to BW system& click RSA1 go to source system option go to top to the source systems right click on it. Then click create then a screens opens then.
 PC Flat file , DB  Database
 Select the option manual then a screen appears RFC Destination, Logical source name then click OK then it goes to opens other screen save it test connection then remote login then it go back to the then a screen opens then click only activate.
 BW  RS1  SOURCE SYSTEM  CREATE MANUAL AUTOMATIC CELL
 R/3  Test connections login  back  replicate method  active data R/3 Source system you will able to.
