LogicPro synchronization with Cubase on one Mac?

Anyone did it? With IAC driver?
I would like to use CubaseSX only as MIDI sequencer - I do dnot need any sound to come out of Cubase...
My goal is to import a MIDI drum track to Cubase and edit it here within Cubase Drum editor, while audition the sound from Logic.
I had a success with sending MIDI to Logic through one of IAC BUS. In Logic enviroment I routed the cable from the IAC BUS on the Physical input to Audio Instrument object where some Drum sampler plugin like DFHS or BFD is inserted. Easy and fast, MIDI data from MIDI track in Cubase are "travelling" to AU Instrument in Logic fine.
Ofcourse there has to be another IAC BUS MIDI port used for synchronizing the playback of the two DAWs. And this is where I was not that succesfull. I tried MTC, also Midi Clock but I never get smooth playback in sync. The tempo started to drift always after playing back song a while and it sounded like a broken Tape deck :))
I choosed Built in audio as a CubaseSX audio driver while Logic was using my mLan network. Maybe I should try to share my mLan audio/midi network between Logic and Cubase?
Anybody tried to do something like that?

I'm using Logic regularly as slave synchronized with MIDI clock via IAC to other applications as master (also Cubase SX). But in my experience it works perfectly only if both sequencers are set to the same tempo beforehand. So I'm using MIDI clock just for start/stop synchronization.
Btw, you don't need a separate IAC bus for transmitting MIDI clock.

  • Can I use a magic trackpad with more than one Mac at a time?

I am attempting to pair a MTP with a second MacBook Pro.  So far I can't get system preferences to find the MTP.
I am wondering whether the MTP can be paired with only one Mac at a time, and that this is why my MBP won't find it.
The reason I am thinking this is because the little booklet that comes with the MTP says 'after you pair your MTP with a Mac, you can pair it again with a different Mac.  To do this, you first remove the existing pairing and then pair the trackpad again'.
    Can anyone advise, please?
If it can be paired with more than one MBP at a time, any suggestions why my system preferences search for the MTP is not producing any results?
    Thanks

Yes, your keyboard, mouse or trackpad can be paired with multiple Macs.  You can even have multiple keyboards, mice or trackpads paired with one Mac.  The caveat is that the device can only be connected to one Mac at a time.  The device can't be paired or connected with a Mac while it's currently connected to another.
Pairing a device with 2 Macs will be troublesome if the Macs are located within 33 ft of each other.  The device will connect with the first available paired Mac and then unavailable to the second.   If the Macs are located outside the 10meter range, it's quite easy to power off the keyboard (forcing a disconnect) then walking the keyboard to Mac 2 and powering the keyboard on.   I do this with a keyboard from my iMac to a Mac Mini in another room.

  • Synching with more than one mac?

I want to synch my Touch with iCal and Address Book on more than one mac. Is there a way to do this? Can I somehow rename the iTunes on each mac the same name so it thinks all the macs are the same mac?
    Thanks.

This is kind of annoying. Well, actually it is VERY annoying. I admit I don't quite understand this concept.
So if I go to my friend's house for a party and I want to play my tunes on his computer I, how does that work? I have to erase my iPod to be able to talk to his computer?
I know I could travel around with a cable with a mini plug at each end but sweet marie. My iPod Classic can speak to whichever computer I please.
If I had actually paid for my iPod I would take it back.
    Am I over reacting?

  • Syncing iPhoto '08 with more than one mac

I have recently got a macbook and would like to ensure that the photos I have on my iMac at home are the same as the photos I have on the macbook.
I have a .Mac account with some photos on their and would like them to appear in iPhoto on my macbook.
Is there a simple way to do this?

    PHarris
No, there's no simple way to do this.
While it is perfectly possible to copy a library from one machine to another, syncing them - where you're trying to update each library with the other's contents - is not possible. No app can parse the library file, and so syncing them will cause corruption of one, other or both libraries.
Some possibilities: if you only import and organise on one Mac, then simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on that Mac to the same location on the portable.
You can use iPhoto Library Manager to copy files/events/albums from one library to another. This is the only way to move files and metadata from one library to another.
I have a .Mac account with some photos on their and would like them to appear in iPhoto on my macbook.
Are these files simply loose on the .Mac account? Then import them.

  • I use the company's iPad at work that has a different apple id for iCloud than my own personal iPad  at home. How can I change the company's iCloud id to synchronize with my own one?

I use an iPad 2 at work that has a different apple id for iCloud than my own personal new iPad. How can I change the company's id for iCloud to synchronize with my own personal iPad?

Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and tap the Apple ID listed and sign out and sign in with other ID
You also may want to go to other places like:
    - Settings>iCloud
    - Settinge>FaceTime
    - Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and change the ID
It may be best to go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings and start over again and set up the iPod again with his account/ID

  • Syncing iPhone with more than one Mac

Up to now I've synced my iPhone with just one of my Macs, the main desktop machine that sits at home. However, when I'm away from home for more than a few days I miss the ability to sync podcasts, applications and do backups.
Is there a way of syncing the phone with a second (or third) Mac without having to have the full iTunes library on those computers? I would like to be able to backup the phone, sync apps and podcasts. Music and videos do not matter as long as the sync doesn't wipe existing copies from the phone. Incidentally, I use MobileMe for syncing calendars and contacts, so that isn't an issue. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I think that without the steps in that 'minefield' the iPhone will detect a change of Mac and even if all the content is on the other Mac, it will all have to be re-loaded onto the phone. Probably not a good idea to keep the library remotely, I expect. But, copying the whole library may work - if you have the time, it's worth a try. Just sync the iPhone to your desktop machine first so the backup is updated, then copy over the library to the portable, then try syncing there. If it works, great. If not, you can Restore the iPhone from the desktop if you need to.

  • My iPad2 cannot synchronize with iPhoto on my Mac, error message "...cannot synchronize.  File not found"

Have upgraded my iPad to an iPad 2. When synchronizing with my iPhoto Library (8500 photos) on my MacBook I get an error message saying "...cannot synchronize. File not found" (transalted from swedish). It works well with my iPad. I restored the iPad2 tand began from scratch but the problem reocurred.

i have similar problem too.  it seems the problem is from iphoto 08.
    i have two ipad 2-
    ipad A:
new ipad with new sync with 6 photo album with iphoto, error occurred.
restored iOS to 4.3.3, problem still exist.
    ipad B:
synced 6 photo album with iphoto no problem for a long time.
tried to de-select album 1 and synced, no problem...
then re-select album 1 and synced, error message occurred.
    my solution:
copy album 1's photo to desktop, then copy the desktop photo back to iphoto album folder...after that, i can sync back album 1 to my ipad.
i have no idea why iphoto has such problem on some of my photo albums =(
Do anyone have a more clever solution?

  • Slow synchronization with Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac

I've been using Dreamweaver for 13 years on a PC and just recently cross-graded to Dreamweaver CS4 for Mac. During the time I used a PC, the process of synchronizing with a remote folder (I use the Local/Network option) would take just a few seconds. However, now that I have switched to the Mac (running Snow Leopard), synchronizing takes several minutes. I have done Internet searches on this topic and haven't found anything relevant, so I am assuming that this is not a common problem. So I am wondering if there is some simple configuration setting that I could change to make this problem go away.

The usual way on a Mac to increase the size or zoom of a page (pretty much any page) is to press [command]-+.
So I did this. And the only thing that will expand (I'm using CS3) is the Design view. Additionally, there is a command from within Dreamweaver itself that allows you to zoom (or reduce) the size of the page you are working on -- but this capability goes away as soon as you look at any code.
It would appear that Adobe is ignoring Apple's Application Programming Guidelines, because [command]-+ works for every other application that runs on a Macintosh (though I'm not using BBEdit which I would imagine would be a similar code editor).
So, there is a workaround that will work, though it's kind of nasty.
Open up your System Preferences. Click on Universal Access. With the "Seeing" tab selected, turn on the Zoom.
    Hold down [option]-[command]-+
The area you are working on will zoom in.
You can turn on and off Zoom assistance using [option]-[command]-8 if you don't want to have to go into your System Preferences>Universal Access controls to get this turned on quickly while you are writing code.
I do note that in Leopard (I am not using Snow Leopard) the Universal Access control tells me that zoom in is [option]-[command]-= and that is true on the regular keyboard, but I have an extended keyboard and I am used to pressing the "+" key on the number keypad (which works).
I realize that using this control is a workaround and that it would probably be a good thing for Adobe to try to get their applications to better fit Apple's guidelines.

  • How do you use Time Machine with more then one mac

I just bought a new external hard drive and want to back up my iMac & MacBook Pro using Time Machine. But I do not want to use my airport network.
I will keep the hard drive connected to the iMac, but want to, as needed, plug my MacBook Pro into the Hard drive to back up.
Is this possible? Do I have first partition the new backup hard drive?
    Any help is appreciated... Jim

    Ok... I am back again.
I decided to plug my backup drive into the USB port on the Airport extreme.
On my Macbook Pro, which I connect wirelessly, I was able to start Time Machine... Time Machine saw the backup drive and did a backup.. Yes it took a long time Anyway all is cool with that.
My iMac is connected to the Airport Extreme by Ethernet. On the iMac when I started Time Machine, it does not see the backup hard drive. I can see and share the hard drive... works fine. But no luck with TM seeing the hard drive on the iMac.
Questions is will Time Machine work with a computer that is connected to airport extreme by ethernet. If yes how o you set it up and what might be wrong??
I might mention that the reason I have the iMac connected with an ethernet cable and not wirelessly is because the iMac does not stay connected well to the internet and when it is connected has a very slow connection. My MacBook Pro is all the way across the house and has a great connection.
I have guessed the slow connection was because the Airport Extreme sits right next to the iMac and maybe there is some kind of interference.
    Thanks.... any help is appreciated.

  • How to remain all my music on my iPhone, when im going to synchronize with a new computer?

I had my whole music library on my old computer. since the computer broke i've been scared to synchronize with my new one. I am pretty sure that all of my music and pictures and so on will be deleted when i synchronize with my new computer. I have an iPhone btw. Is there anyway that i can somehow transport my songs from iPhone to the new computer? or do something so my iPhone wont lose all of the songs?
    Please help.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just this reason.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone.  File>Transfer Purchases.
If you sync to a blank computer, your contacts, calendars and itunes content will be erased.

I had an HP laptop with Itunes on it and kept my library on an external hard drive. I had a 160gb classic Ipod.
My computer died and i am buying a new one (mac is out of budget)
When I get my new computer, obviously I will download Itunes. My Ipod still has all the music on it and the external hard drive is ok.
I don't want to "erase" or lose any information when I sync with a new itunes that is "empty"
What are the steps? After I download Itunes and set the folder location to my external harddrive what is next? Will Itunes recognize my IPOD? Will it load the music/list from my ipd or external into itunes?

  • Can't get more than one mac online at once with aiport express

Hi, I hope someone can help - I've searched the forum and been on the phone to level 2 support at Apple for 6 hours to no avail!
I have a D-Link DSL 300G+ modem connected to an airport express and can connect to the internet fine on just one mac if I uncheck the 'Distribute IP addresses' option - if I check this option, whatever settings I have entered has prevented me from accessing the internet at all (I have no idea what settings to enter, I have just followed suggestions from Apple).
This problem arose when following Apple's diagnostics on a minor ichat issue, I disconnected my modem and reset my AX settings (until then everything had been fine.) I have called my ISP and D Link and they tell me the issue is with the AX.
This is my first posted question so I hope I have given all the relevant and necessary information.
Much appreciate any help at all.
    Thanks,
    Wayne.

Hello Wayne Rosie. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Let's double-check your AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) settings ...
Perform a "factory default" reset of the AX
    o (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044)
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AX, & computer(s); Wait at least 30 minutes.
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
Either connect to the AX's wireless network, or temporarily connect your computer directly using an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility, check these settings:
    AirPort tab
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
    o Wireless Security: Not enabled
    o Channel: Automatic
    o Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure: Using DHCP
    o WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    o Distribute IP addresses (checked)
o Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network.

  • HT2486 can I have two contact lists on one mac book pro?  I need one to sync with my iphone, one to sync with my husband's iphone.

can I have two contact lists on one mac book pro?  I need one to sync with my iphone, one to sync with my husband's iphone.

I agree with Chris CA that this is the way I would *expect* iTunes to behave.
When I look at iTunes from my account (my music is in ~/Music/iTunes/ and not available to my spouse's account), I can see in my music library all my rips and my purchases, just as I would expect. I can use Store>View My Account (<myAppleID>) and all is as expected. Home sharing is NOT on.
Doing the same from the other account is not much different, actually. Nothing in the library yet, of course. Store>View My Account (<herAppleID>) also works. I CAN authorize my computer to play her music. I CAN view her iTunes purchases. When I attempt to download the purchases to HER library, though, I get the following dialog box:
Now I interpret this to mean that this computer (mine) will not download from a different AppleID (also mine) for 90 days. Is that [interpretation] correct?
