Login Accounts won't Show at Start up     HELP !!!!!!!!

Hello techs, I need some help.... I recently upgraded an intel imac from Tiger to Leopard
after the upgrade process and a restart, I can no longer see the accounts at the login screen.
The only option is OTHER. So I click on OTHER and proceed to type in the user name and password
and nothing works. I revert to booting off the install DVD Leopard to change the password
( by the way, The DVD sees the 2 accounts on the computer to change passwords )
Now after resetting the password and restarting, All I get is the OTHER account, nothing else to login as, and even then I type in the user name and new password, NOTHING. I've ran disk utility and most stuff like that, Can anyone Help ? The user account folders are there, from what I could tell from booting in target disk mode and browsing the directories Even Root login doesn't work LOL I need Help

No apple techs here, this is strictly a user-to-user forum.
The "other" option that you see is for the root account. You did mention that you tried that but I'm not sure exactly what you did. try resetting the root account (=System administrator in the password reset utility) password from the install DVD. then try to log in as root. click on "other" at the login window, enter root for the login name and enter the reset password. post if this works and we'll take it from there.

I try to see my transaction history, but after I login it won't show me anything. Just my husband's account. Why can't I check my account?

Whose iTunes account is currently logged into on that computer's iTunes ? If your husband's then log out of it via the Store > Sign Out menu option and then sign in with your account (it will change to a Store > Sign In menu option) and you should then be able to view the purchase history of your account

  • How do I add a playlist to iTunes Match so that it'll appear on my Apple TV?  It was appeared on it before but ever since I added some CDs to the playlist, it won't show anymore.  Please help.

How do I add a playlist to iTunes Match so that it'll appear on my Apple TV?  It was appeared on it before but ever since I added some CDs to the playlist, it won't show anymore.  Please help.

When new content is added to a playlist it has to be updated for it to be available across devices. If it's content that isn't matched the playlist is removed from the cloud. Did you make sure to access store - update iTunes Match? It should do it automatically after a few minutes but the odd time I have to force it.
Other than that may want to try reboot, log out/in.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Try when connected to another network
    - Update via iTunes on a computer.

  • My account won't load...PLEASE HELP

Please help. I have a brother that hacked into my account and reset my password to nothing. My account is the administrative account but i also have one standard account on my pb. Anyways, now when i go to login to admin, it seems as its logging in but all i really get is one of the blue apple display pictures and the cursor. Nothing else appears, not even my normal display picture.
But when i do log onto the other standard account on my pb, everything appears fine.
My admin account won't load, is there anything i can do? Is there a way i can retrieve my files on my desktop(admin) from the standard account? I've tried resetting my password using the apple installation cd, but to no avail.
PLEASE HELP..it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you wish to retrieve all of the admin data from the Users folder, you will have to log in as the root user and then change the permissions of all the admin data. Then, you can delete the User from Accounts in System Preferences. After you have obtained the data from the Admin (with another user as the owner of all) and have successfully deleted the admin account, you can create a new admin account and then transfer all of the data back.
I am not exactly sure why the account does not load, but creating a new one will solve this issue.

  • Login screen won't show up after "Starting Mac OS X..."

    Hi all,
I have a little bit of a problem with an iBook that I was using a couple of months ago. (I haven't had time to use it since then...)
What happens is that I'll turn it on, and it'll start and everything, but a few seconds after "Starting Mac OS X..." disappears, the screen turns black and turns into a command prompt and asks me to log in through the prompt. After I log in, the screen just turns blue, basically like the "Starting Mac OS X..." screen, but without the window. Nothing happens after that.
Can anyone please tell me what's wrong? Can someone help me solve it?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Try starting in safe mode and doing a Pram reset.

  • Mail from my account won't show up

My Mail wasn't doing this before, but just started. Basically it will download my emails from my accounts, but sometimes it will show up as:
The message from "John, DOe" <[email protected]> concerning “Updated Script” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
This was never a problem, but for some reason it has started doing this and I have to quit MAIL and then restart it to see it come up again and then shortly after or if another email comes, it will read the same thing.
    THanks

Assuming this means the TV was not detected in any of these versions, this would not be a Snow Leopard installation or setup issue. I think that is what sig is trying to tell you.
If this is true, you might want to post in the MacBook forums to see if anyone has a similar issue. It would be a good idea to post the model number of your Toshiba if you do so, as this might be relevant. Otherwise, it sounds like the problem is in the TV, since the MacBook works with other displays.

  • My 2nd Gen iPod Touch won't show up in iTunes but does appear in My Computer

When I connect my 2nd Generation iPod touch to my laptop it will not appear in iTunes. It does, however, appear in my Computer.
I have worked through all of the troubleshooting guides on the Apple Support section, and have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice.
This message appears every time I plug my iPod in, and frequently whilst it is still plugged in charging:
'MobileMe Service has stopped working.' This is a pop-up window produced by Windows, I know this is the 'service' that picks up an iPod's prescence but stopping and restarting the service does nothing. My iPod still won't show up.
Please help, I am willing to faff around a bit. Might it be a problem with Windows itself? If so, how would I go about fixing it?
    Thanks in advance,
P.S I have the latest version of iTunes, and the operating system of my iPod is 4.2.1.
My version of Windows Vista is 32-bit.

I have the same problem with my 2nd gen itouch.
I've tried other computer and my childrens iPods work on my computer so not a windows problem.  I've tried reinstalling iTunes and resetting itouch as per apple support pages but nothing, it doesn't even show on my computer. Any help greatly appreciated :-)

  • Installed Yosemite...now my MacBook pro won't start up. Keep showing "Kernel Panic!" HELP!

installed Yosemite and now my MacBook pro won't start up. Keeps showing "kernel panic"
    PLEASE HELP ME!

If you can't start up and log in in the usual way, try in safe mode.
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Log in as an administrator to carry out these instructions. If you have only one account, you are the administrator.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode.
If you're able to log in, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.

  • Login Window doesn't show all account

    Hi all folks,
I migrate an old OS X Leopard with some Accounts to OS X Yosemite but the Login Window doesn't show all Accounts.
And the Guest Account and the Other Account icon is outside the screen.
Any idea how to order the Accounts in the Login Window, it seems to be the Login Window can't handle more than five Accounts.
    Thanks for any suggestion,
    Lutz

    Hi again,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have done the unbind and performed the bind operation again, but its still happening. I have now put a second system in and its doing it on that one too.
I was wonding if there is some way of making sure that Samba is fully started before the login window appears.
    Thanks,

  • Guest user account won't login

In OS 10.10.2 the guest user account won't login, all we get is the spinning ball.
How do I fix the problem?
    -Patrick

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Okay so when I try to download apps on my phone a totally different Apple ID that I've never used before popped up. I've already tried settings under apps/iTunes and signed into my own apple account. But even doing so my apple Id won't show up

    Try this:
Open the iTunes app, select the Music tab, then scroll all the way down to the bottom.  Here you can sign out of any current Apple ID and sign into a new one.  Good luck!
And just in case there is another Apple ID linked to your account you can check at http://appleid.apple.com.
