Login/disable_multi_gui_login and multiple dialog/service logons

Hi there,
If login/disable_multi_gui_login has been set to 1, deactivating multiple dialog/service logons, is it still necessary to set login/multi_login_users, to limit multiple logons to Basis and Authorisations administrators only? As far as I understand it is good practice to set login/multi_login_users, as opposed to leaving it blank?

You can leave login/multi_login_users parameter blank,Unless you specifically mention the userids which are allowed to login multiple times no user is allowe to multiple times.

i clicked Finish button. Its displaying error like Error in processing the page please check log for details.

J_security_check and multiple login pages

We have a web app which uses form-based authentication. We want the user to be able to cruise around the non-secure pages and then, when they're ready, to log in using the username/password boxes already present on whatever page they're on.
This kind of flies in the face of standard use of j_security_check in that we're not redirecting to a login page, but already have the login information. We are therefore POSTing directly to j_security_check. We are also assuming that the j_security_check will redirect the user to one of the files in the welcome file list upon authentication.
This makes me a bit uneasy. There seems like there should be a better way, and I don't know what it is. Furthermore, we seem to be having some problems, and I feel this might be the cause of it.
What's the proper way of having multiple points of login, with different login pages, and still use form-based authentication?

I am now a little further, I have made a small examlple which runs fine in Eclipse, but when I try to implement on JDeveloper I get two Exceptions:
java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied.
There's is probably something wrong with my paths,
but do you by any chance have some examles, that can help med along?

OWSM and Webservices -Define policies once for multiple web services

I thought that through using OWSM we had the possibility to use the same Policy Lines for multiple web services.
Mostly when web services are used/integrated within an application, the same rules need to be defined and I thought this requirement could be met when using OWSM.
But you need to define the policy requirements on each web service that's passing through a gateway or agent, why isn't it supported to define policy lines one level higher to be able to use the same requirements for multiple web services?

For this purpose OWSM allows you to use Template Policy Pipelines.
For individual services, you can than replace the pipeline with the Template.
But I have to agree with you here: the templating functions are rough on the edges, e.g. limited editing capabilities.

You can create one service order with multiple service products,
the document will have both header and item level in both u need to assign the partner processing (emp responsible including) if there r different line items with different emp responsible u can satisfy ur issue.
abt theheader and item level some information:
understand what is transaction type? and the structure of the Transaction type.
The Transaction type determines the characteristics and attributes( what is the document category ,which Organizational data profile is allowed, which status profile is allowed, which action profile is allowed, which date profile is allowed, which Subject profile is allowed,which text determination profile is allowed, which partner determination profile is allowed and the number ranges for that particular transaction) of a particular transaction.
For example it says whethere the corresponding transaction is used for Lead, Opportunity or Sales order.
When it comes to Structure of a Transaction
it contains Header level data, Item level data and Schedule line data.
So Header level data is controlled by Transaction type.
Next comes Item level data The Item level data is controlled by Item category.
The Item category determines the characteristics and attributes of a line Item.
for example( it says whether the item is relevant for pricing or not, whether the item is relevant for billing or not, whether the item is relevant for shipping or not etc.)
The Item category will be determined automatically by the system at the run time depending upon the following key factors
Sales doc typeItem categoryHigher level Item+Item Usage

Apple and Safari getting shafted by Multiple Listing Services

I've been having this run on argument about Mac vs. PC's with a good friend who is not so computer literate, but insists on buying PCs because Macs "can't" work with their web based software (MLS) and no one uses Macs. She has not been able to connect her computer to the internet for 6 months! They've now abandoned that computer! The support people say she needs to reinstall MS Office to get back to the internet. They went out and bought a new Vaio and a linksys wireless router. Plugged in the router and my Macs immediately recognized it and I was surging in a matter of seconds. It took us 2 hours to get 1 of theirs on and 1.5 hours to get the other one on. The laptop now can connect to the network, but always has problems getting on the web, as you have to tinker with it each time you sleep it to get it back on the web.
Everyone in her office (including the support person) says you cannot use Macs with their software, soooo..... I took one of my Macs, and punched in the MLS page and recieved the "you must use Interntet Explorer 5.0 or higher" prompt. I have the debug menu enabled and told Safari to use Windows MSIE 6.0 as the user agent. Up comes the log in page. She gave me her login code and up comes her custom page. Worked like a charm. I cannot tell you how annoying it is that this FUD of Macs still exists from one company excluding Macs because of the browser. She could of bought a Mac and of been done with all the Windows crap she has to put up with.

Some of the MLS and other real estate services have used and some may still use ActiveX controls on their page. If the MLS site uses ActiveX, then only IE/Win will work, just changing the user agent will not do the trick. With pages using ActiveX, you would have to run Windows under VirtualPC to use the site on the Mac.
The good news in your case is that the site was not using ActiveX (or other Windows-only technologies such as OLE) and that the site was only using a bouncer at the door. Once you got past the bouncer, you did fine. I do not know why developers have web sites that will work in more than one browser and on more than one platform test for a particular browser (usually IE/Win, sometimes Netscape) and lock you out if you are using something else.

Is it possible to deploy SharePoint or its Service Applications on: multiple DB-Servers and multiple SQL Instances?

We have a SharePoint 2013 farm (Enterprise edition) that uses one single SQL Server 2012 (Standard edition). That statement means: All my SharePoint DBs e.g. (Config, Admin, Content, and Service Apps) DBs are hosted and running onto one single instance e.g.
Server1\SQLInstance1.
We have some new requirements to install and configure BI tools such as: PerformancePoint services and PowerPivot. BI tools require either SQL Server 2012 Enterprise or BI editions, and we do NOT want to upgrade our current SQL Server1\SQLInstance1
Instead, We have other separate SQL Server instance which is enterprise edition let's name it (ServerX\InstanceX) that is running standalone, and we are thinking or using it, and my 2 questions are:
1) Can we use this other separate
SQL Server instance which is enterprise edition to host the create and hosts the DBs of PerformancePoint services and PowerPivot ?
2) My second question is the same: Can I create PerformancePoint services application in my SharePoint farm, But in the Database Server field, I fill up
the details of the other DB server ServerX\InstanceX which is the one that is SQL
enterprise edition ? Will this work ?
Any official Microsoft resources/links tell that it is possible to deploy SharePoint or its service applications on multiple DB-Servers and multiple SQL Instances?

I mean, Assuming that I have created such a farm where most of SarePoint DBs in Standard SQL instance while the PerformancePoint service application and others e.g. PowerPivot and reporting service are deployed and configured onto other Enterprise SQL instance.

Certificate error while connecting to multiple web service

I am having a web service test client through which I can connects and get reports from multiple web services.
In Development unix box, we are using "self-signed certificate" using keystore type JKS. In Production server, we are using certificate from CA.
The web service is running in Development and in Production.
Now I have developed single test client with a drop down selection for different web services. For example, if we select "Development", the request will go the development web service and if we select "Production", the request will go to Production web service.
Now while connecting to Develpment service, we are settings the below certificates details Because we are using the self signed certificate.

I am clearing the System properties using the System.clearProperty() while pointing to Production service. because in Production we are using the CA certificate from Thawte so these details are not required at all and our JRE (java 5) is pre configured to support that CA certificate.
I am using Resin-2.1.12, axis1.2 and java5.
Now the problem is
(1) for the first time, when I send the request to Production Service URL, the report gets generated. For the next time when we are running against Development, it's giving below certificate error.
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
(2) Now restart resin and run the test client against Developemnt service URL, here report gets generated and for the next time, run the test client against Production, it's giving the certificate error.
So for the 2nd request, it always gives the error irrespective of the web service instance selected.
Please suggest ....thanks in advance.

No, due to the issue is happening only on one computer.
The error "(401) Unauthorized" usually indicates that the connection has been established but the permission check fails. InfoPath Form Services uses the application pool identity of the web
application to connect to resources.
Does the account which login the computer have permission to connect to User Profile Service Application?
For a workaround, you can go to IIS Manager , set the User Profile Application Pool to Anonymous Access and try again.

Is it possible to define multiple web services in one project?

I'd like to publish multiple components within one project as web services. but when I try to create it using the project New menu, it only prompts me and allows me to select one component . So does this mean only one web service can exist in one project?

I think I should have worded my question more clearly.
I have a project with multiple Java classes. I'd like to convert two of them into web services.
There are two ways to co this.
1. I right click on each class and select the Generate J2EE Web Service option. This will work correctly and allow multiple web services to be generated.
but this is not what I want to do .
What we are trying to do is to generate web services at the project level. I am following instructions in OTN web services tutorial :

So , this is what I do :
1. Right-click on my project and select New from the context menu.
2. In the New Gallery, expand Business Tier in the Categories list and select Web Services, then select Java Web Service from the Items list. Click OK.
3. In the Select J2EE Web Service Version dialog, select J2EE 1.4 (JAX-RPC) Web Service, then click OK.
4. Click past the welcome page
5. This brings me to the page where I can select the web service and class.
This is where I am stuck - it seems I can only select one web service here . Unless I am missing something.
Or should I just repeat the process multiple times - running the wizard once for each class ?

Yes - although it can be tricky. You will need to create 4 different adobe.com accounts using separate email addresses. They will act like completely separate accounts.

Login/disable_multi_gui_login - Problem

I need to disable multi gui logon.
So I found the parameter login/disable_multi_gui_login have to be set to value 1.
But in transaction rz11 there is disable to change value, so I tired this workaround, copy parameter to default and created it with value 1.
I need this parameter to be at all servers and this is why I changed it at DEFAULT parameter, but if I check the SAP give my status>>
E:login/disable_multi_gui_login is not identified identically on all servers
E:login/disable_multi_gui_login ( 1 ) on server XXX
E:login/disable_multi_gui_login ( 0 ) on server gfs
E:login/disable_multi_gui_login ( 0 ) on server ABC
E:login/disable_multi_gui_login ( 0 ) on server CDS
I know this parameter takes effect after restart, but why it CHECK gives me this alert if the parameter was added and changed at the DEFAULT profile ???
And why rz11 CHANGE value is disable ??

If you added the parameter in the DEFAULT profile is should affect all the system once is restarted (only exception is that one of the application servers have the same parameter with a different value on the instance profile)
Changes to the parameters should be done via RZ10

Problem with java and flex web service

I have a basic web service written in java using jax ws 2.1
ri. I need to call it from Flex using the WebService class
Annotations for the java web method :

When I try and call the service from Flex , it can't find the
login method and attempts to call it fail. If I set the web service
to RPC based using @SOAPBinding , the method is found but then
there are issues with the authentication header.
What do I need to do to get flex web services communicating
succesfully with java ?
Are there are any known compatibility issues ? Or guidelines
for going about this ?

i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

I have been struggling with this one for a while now, hopefully someone can help me understand what I am missing...
I have a single SharePoint Farm. This farm runs multiple Web Applications & the Service Applications.
1. SharePoint Only Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://sharepoint.com/...)
2. MS Project Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://pwa.com/...)
3. My services applications all exist on the same farm.
I was under the impression, and believe that I validated this through testing and from this site (http://blogs.office.com/2009/11/16/excel-services-in-sharepoint-2010-administration-improvements),
that you can only run a single Excel Services Application against each unique Web Application. In essence, I can run one Excel Services Application against the SharePoint Only Server, and another Excel Services Application against the MS Project
Server... However, I can NOT run multiple Excel Services Applications against the different Site Collections within the MS Project Server becuase it is only aware of its "default" Excel Service Application.
ie. I can NOT do the following: ExcelServiceApp1 for
http://pwa.com/SiteA & ExcelServiceApp2 for
http://pwa.com/SiteB
Is that correct?
If that is not correct, then I must be missing a way to specify a different Excel Service App for each Project Web App Site.
Some other solutions that I think may work, but would really appreciate if someone could validate:
- Create multiple Project Server Service Applications for each instance of PWA/Excel Service? (but wouldn't this still have to use one of the two WebApplications and cause the same limitation?)
- Create a new Web Applciation for each PWA/Excel Service? (ie.
http://pwasite1.com;
http://pwasite2.com; http://pwasite3.com, etc.)
Thoughts/suggestions are very greatly appreciated!!!

I have not done what you are doing and I assume that you are using project server 2010. However, you answer lives in PowerShell.
The New-WebServiceProxy show that you can create a new proxy by spacing a URL and not a web application. The default proxy from the web application is directing to the default excel service. If you need another excel service, you must specify another
proxy and this may do it for you.
Also, don't forget the Secure State service and that each excel report will need this configured, that is with the assumption that the other excel service requires different authentication.
