Login fails miserably unless computer is restarted
Whenever I try to login to my computer, the computer will take me to my desktop and be usable for a few seconds before kicking me out of my account. It has the same effect no matter how many times I retry to login unless I completely restart my computer. Then the login will only work once and revert back to the original problem.
Try resetting your password. Check your log-in (star-up) apps and see what is running in the background.

Login fails b/c computer is off line
I have read the forums enough to determine that my problem with not being able to log in is due to the fact that I must be able to access the internet at least the first time I log on after I have gone off line. (such as traveling from home to work). I get
the message that the computer is off line, log on with the last password I used. MY problem is that in order for me to access my employer's internet I must at least get on to the desktop to enter the security keys for their internet. No ones laptop or
device can simply access the internet at my (middle school) without going through the sign in screens. Your software disallows me to even get there...so what? my computer is not usable at work? Is there a workaround? no, there are no hotspots. I am also not
allowed to hard wire my personal computer to the district network.Lodeza
Why don't you use the local logon instead of the MS logon? You don't have to be connected to use that.

IMac upgrade from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks errors by failing to restart computer........after install message states that "your computer is restarting in x seconds"...then window appears that "application install OS x Mavericks failed to quit"...try to log out again, quit install OS x Mavericks and choose apple menu to log out...........this does not work!
Are you running OS X Server (the forum this question was posted in), or are you running OS X? If you're not sure what that difference is and why I'm asking it, then you're probably running OS X and are very likely not running OS X Server here.
Hopefully you have a pre-upgrade backup of your data, on the off chance something has either already gone badly wrong already, or if something goes wrong with the following...
To force the quit here and to force the shutdown here, press and hold the power button for ~10 seconds.
If you don't have a backup already and if the box doesn't reboot, then you'll want to boot from the 10.6 DVD (of OS X or OS X Server) and create a backup — it won't be a particularly good backup of the OS X or OS X Server system, but at least you'll have access to your own files and related data. This backup because recovering from a badly-failed upgrade might involve reinstalling OS X. -
Trying to remotely login to my sisters computer but failed
Hi All..
I am trying to remotely login to my Sisters computer located in India from U.S...
What we have done till now:
My sister has recently taken Internet connection in India and computer is connected via Modem and she could login to Modem and could find the Global IP address of their Internet connection.
I am able to ping their global ip address/modem ip address attached to their computer..Now how do i login to their computer? I have used VNC server, net meeting etc..but I believe there is something to do with their Internet provider or to do port forwarding(they do not have any router) or to add their local IP address in DMZ of Provider(but they do not have any DMZ options in their Modem settings or options)....
Can somebody please help me to remotely login to my sisters workstation...that would be of great help to us..Hello..
My sister's global IP address(was found at::http://www.ip-adress.com/)...and used that so I believe it should be valid...
And since she has windows xp home edition Remote desktop is not supported...so we used vnc server, net meeting..still unable to login....can u guide me with this.. -
Computer was restarted because of a problem..
After installing mountain lion my computer started saying this to me. It seems to take a few hours for this to occur. If my computer is left running idle for hours I see this message on the screen - "Your computer was restarted because of a problem."
There are some other problems I have run into that seem to be related. I would almost say that they are all linked to my external hard drive, but there are similar problems happening that (as far as I know) have nothing to do with my external hard drive. I will relate a few scenarios (all that have happened on a regular basis for almost a month now) and how they relate.
1. I open itunes and play a song from the library. Whether it is playing or not, if I leave it idle to use another program, when I come back to it after about 10 minutes and click on another song, hit play, or pause it, the program freezes, I get the spinning wheel and it does not respond. I have to force close. When I try to open it again, it won't load. Sometimes I even get an error message when I try to reopen that say something like, "you do not have permissions on the drive or folder". All of my music is on an external drive
2. Again if left idle, Safari will freeze when trying to upload images. Now this is the one that makes me think that this is not just some annoying hard drive thing. If i try to upload something, the upload window will come up but none of the will load and then i get the spinning wheel. sometimes i can click around on a few folders. I can make it to my external drive, nothing comes up. I can make to the desktop too, but nothing comes up on that either. As far as I know, nothing from safari is on my external drive.
3. Working in FCPX or Adobe PR 5.5 yield the same findings. if the program is left alone for more than about 10 minutes, it is no longer able to run even after force closing.
The MOST annoying thing about all of this is when i try to restart or shut down my computer. It wont do it. I have to hold the power button or unplug my computer.
I was told on a similar discussion to make this and post the problem details so here they are.
Thanks

com.apple.kec.corecrypto 1.0Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -
"[DBNETLIB] Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection"
After patches applied on patch Tuesday the database reports the above error.
All accounts are domain accounts and SQLServer uses Windows auth.
DCDIAG show no errors
All servers and DC have been restarted,
Message in db log confirms the connection is being denied due to trust.
Event log shows same rejection

Can connect if new admin account connect to server in terminal server session and uses UDL wizard or any other tool including isql.
New standard user also fails to connect.
NOTES:
I removed the SSL patch and the IE security update to see if that was an issue.

Hi Tony,
Srry but No. We just installed the monthly updates.
I went back and found I had missed removing a patch. I missed the rollup for Windows Server 2003:
Event Type: Information

Event Category: None

Description:
Windows Server 2003 KB954920 was removed from your computer, and the previous Windows Server 2003 configuration was restored.
After I removed that is still didn't work but after about five minutes it started working.
I guess I ned to report that to MS after I research what might be changed to make the patch work.
Every time I get stuck and ask for help it seems to be just before I stumble on the solution.
Thanks for replying.
Well - maybe this will help someone else.
Thanks again for replying Tony

SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c and Login failed for user''
I got the following error when tried to connect to local machine in the
non-domain environment with Windows Authentication by SSMS.
"SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security."
"Login failed for user''. the user is nothing associated with a trusted SQL server connection."
questions
1,if I saw the "SSPI handshake failed ", does it means it must used Kerberos but failed? or it is also possible used the NTLM but failed?
2,Any ideas for this issue?

Firstly, "SSPI Handshake Failed" error happens usually when connection failed between the server and domain controllers or failed Kerberos authentication. For more details about "SSPI Handshake Failed" error, please review this
FAQ.
Secondly, regarding to your error message, it could be caused by loopback check. To resolve the issue, please set the DisableLoopbackCheck registry entry to 1 by performing the following steps.
1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
3.Right-click Lsa, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4.Type DisableLoopbackCheck, and then press ENTER.
5.Right-click DisableLoopbackCheck, and then click Modify.
6.In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7.Exit Registry Editor.
8.Restart the computer.
There is a similar blog about your scenario for your reference.

During Apple TV setup, I have not been able to complete the Home Sharing process. Computer/iTunes Home Sharing is setup, but ATV "blocks" its Home Sharing setup. After my Apple ID and password is entered, ATV reports a failure. Also, attempts to login to iTunes from ATV, ATV reports: "iTunes login failed - cannot sign-in until Network date and time has been set". It directs me to the Network tab, but there's no option to set date and time. I have no clue how to do that.
Help!!! Thanks in advance to anyone who knows how to solve this.Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are things to look out for to make sure your Apple TV can reach the network time server, such as ensuring port 123 is open and only using the DNS address provided by your ISP, but since it was OK one moment and not the next, my guess is these settings are already correct.
As for the restart, did you try restarting by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds. -
Why do system preferences revert back to default every time computer is restarted
Cannot keep changes to System preferences. All revert back to default every time computer is restarted.
Also, all extensions, e.g. adblock, reinstall every time computer is restarted.
<Personal information edited by Host>Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select
▹ Restart
from the menu bar. -
Intermittant (not constant) SQL database ShareWebDb login failed events 3760 and 2424
My Sharepoint 3.0 services that were bundled with SBS 2008 appear to be working fine. Companyweb, etc, all work w/o issue, so I don't want to take violent action, but these errors seem to be accellerating so I would love to know if there is a known
solution.
I typically receive the following (these are in reverse time order, latest at the top, just as they appear in the event log):
Error Event ID: 3760 SQL Database 'ShareWebDb' on SQL Server instance 'np:\\.\pipe\MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE\sql\query' not found. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. Cannot open database "ShareWebDb" requested

I get more 3760 errors than 2424's. However, the
2424's do seem to usually correspond to a 3760 18456 17137 occurance and the
3760 are always preceeded by 18456 17137. I was getting one or two sets a day, lately that has increased to 5 or 10.
I've done a lot of
web research on Sharepoint Errors 3760 and
2424 and I see a number of people are experiencing the the same issue. Most of what I've come across for solutions do not apply, since errors are intermittent, not chronic and my public remote URL has already been added
to BackConnectionHostNames as per:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/08/05/sharepoint-services-3-search-event-errors-after-an-sbs-2008-update-rollup.aspx
I installed the SQL Server Management Studio Express so I could try to track down the permissions on this database. I see the SQL server instance, MYSERVER\Microsoft##ssee, and it shows as running, but when I try to connect to it I get the following
error: "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote
connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1)" I'm assuming that is because I don't have access permission for that internal database.
I don't see any errors in the event log related to failed logins or any errors at all from the SQL server, but there are the time matching informational entries right before the error events and lots of other 17137's and 2803's from MSSQL$Microsoft##sseeThank you Kevin, that does seem to match my symptoms and I have made the change suggested. Just incase that page becomes unreachable by others, here is the part of the page that applies to this:
Issue:

Mid 2010 Macbook Pro "Your Computer was restarted because of a problem"
Hi guys,
Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion my Mid 2010 Macbook Pro has been randomly restarting itself and showing a grey sceen with the text "Your computer was restarted because of a problem."
I've googled and read all sorts of things saying remove everything from Login Items, it still happens. Everything I've tried has done nothing. Just in case it helps, here is my latest kernel panic log from Console:

Use the "Contact" Apple techs link and see if your model may be one affected. If it is, you'll qualify for a free logic board replacement from Apple.

A stale or corrupt kernel cache
A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You may already have ruled out some of these.
Rule out #1 by booting in safe mode and then rebooting as usual. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
You can rule out #2 and #3 by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications for your model.
The Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Connecting more than one display is another reported trigger for OS X bugs.
If your system is not fully up to date, running Software Update might get you a bug fix.
In rare cases, a malformed network packet from a defective router or other network device can cause panics. Such packets could also be sent deliberately by a skillful attacker. This possibility is something to consider if you run a public server that might be the target of such an attack.
If none of the above applies, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair

2 separate iphones, 2 separate itunes, 2 separate login accounts on 1 computer
My wife and I have 2 different iPhones, 2 different iTunes accounts, and 2 different logins on our main computer. I will log out of my iTunes account after syncing my phone to my account and login and login into her separate login and iTunes account to sync her phone. The problem is that her phone will get only through the second step and then iTunes freezes. The only successful way we have been able to sync our phones is by restarting the computer. Is there a fix to solving this issue?
Do you mean you want to have his own itunes library and own itunes store account, but share the same itunes content?
If so, choose method 1 from this article. I think it's what roaminggnome meant to post.

Deployment issue - Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'
I am attempting to deploy a site from my development PC to my server. I have no issues running the site on the server using VS2010 Express Web in debug. All page queries are working within the debugger. The connection strings are identical between the PC
and Server, except the host name.
connectionString
="Data
Source=SOCIALSERVER;Initial Catalog=Intake_be;Integrated Security=True"
However, when using the site normally via IIS, the pages containing data access are failing with a permissions problem. The non-data access pages render normally.
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'
Looking at the SQL2005 instance via SQL Management Studio, I see security folder with Logins under the Server. NTA\NS is listed as a user login. But, I also see similar folders under each
of 3 databases. NTA\NS is not listed as a login specific to my target dB.
My site is for internal (intranet) use only. There is no internet access into my IIS. This is my first deployment into production. I think I only need Windows Authentication but I lack the experience to make a good decision. My goal is to allow domain users
to access pages that produce read only data. But, I also need controlled access to pages that can modify data. I used the native winform template for ASP.NET 4, which includes some roles based security.
How do I grant permissions for internal users on the pages that access SQL data? How does that security model work with the native roles based security? i.e.
add
name="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider"type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider"connectionStringName="ApplicationServices"...
etc.
Thanks for your time and patience on this Deployment 101 type issue.
Kurthi,
You receive either of these error messages specifically when you use integrated security.
To resolve you can use one of below.
Method 1: Programmatically change the security context of the ASP.NET worker process to a user who has the correct SQL Server permissions.
Method 2: Change the default configuration of ASP.NET so that the ASP.NET worker process starts and runs under the context of a user who has the correct permissions in SQL Server.
Method 3: Grant the correct permissions in SQL Server so that the ASPNET account (or NetworkService account, for an application that runs on IIS 6.0) has the appropriate access to the required resources.(Go to the Computer Management >> Local User and
Groups >> Groups >> Right Click and go to properties on IIS_IUSRS >> Add appropriate user.
Thanx, Mark as answered if you are ok .. -
Unhandled Exception Error - Login Failed for User
Hello,
I am receiving an error when I run my application stating “Unhandled exception has occurred. If you click continue, the application will ignore the error………..Login failed for MyUser.
When I click the Continue button the application runs and seems to work properly. This application used to run without receiving the error and I did not make any changes. I have another application that is using basically the exact same code and does not
receive the error. The only difference is the application is querying a different DB but using the exact same connection string. The error only occurs when I run the exe file created from the build. When I run (debug) the application from within the VS 2013
IDE I do not receive the error.
Here are the details to the error message:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
I'm not sure what the JIT debugger is but to my knowledge my other apps are not using that. The production username and password are correct in the connection string so I'm not clear why I am receiving this error especially since I'm not receiving the
error on my other application. I have also attached the code just in case it is needed. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

David YoungIn SQL you have a login which allows access to the server but you must also have permissions to access each database that you will use (including Master). So I would verify that your user also has the necessary permissions on the database itself and
not just the SQL instance. The error you're getting is from SQL saying that the user doesn't have permissions. If it works for 1 DB but not the other on the same SQL instance then it is likely a missing permission on the DB itself.
I should note that you have a hard coded conn string in your code but the error is for a different user. I'm assuming that you simply posted it there for convenience and that you changed the values to obscure the data. If you are actually getting
the info from your config file then verify the connection string is correct. Also be sure to not use Integrated Security since it appears that you are using SQL authentication.
