Login ID or password is incorrect for Google Talk in iMessage

Hi all,
Maybe this question has already occured in prior discussions, however, I cannot find any solutions yet. I can login to my gmail account, can receive emails from Mail on my Mac with no problems. However, I cannot connect to google talk in iMessage where it asks me for the password over and over again. What can I change or can anybody help me out to fix that problem?

iMessage is still not connecting to Google Talk, and I dont think that Google need more than a day to fix that problem. Any other suggestions? I am 100% sure that my ID and password are correct but iMessage keeps on asking me over and over again that those information will be wrong.

Getting error that my "login ID or password is incorrect"

I'm trying to log into google talk account via Jabber. Was working before until I think when I updated my software recently. Now I keep getting a message titled "gmail.com Login" which says "iChat can't log in to gmail.com because your login ID or password is incorrect."
My login ID and Jabber ID is my [email protected] (which is what shows up when I log into gmail) and I'm using my gmail password.
I've followed all the instructions:
Server = talk.google.com
Port = 5223, use SSL is checked
"Automatically find server and port" and "Warn before sending password insecurely" are checked
However, after I try to login and get the above error, when I go back to Preferences, my server settings change to:
Server: gmail.com
Port: 5222
And SSL gets unchecked
Firewall is off
Have tried logging out of my google account online - didn't work
Sorry if this has been posted about already, but I haven't been able to find a solution from the posts yet.

The server name you are entering is the correct one.
I currently have my GoogleMail ID logged in on port 443 and have SSL ticked but AutoDiscover Server and Port Off.
(I tired turning On Auto Discover and Logged in again and the port did not change)
It sounds as if you added the Google ID as a Jabber one and that iChat 5 thinks it should be the end of your Screen Name as server. (I have not tried this is Leopard or Snow Leopard but it may prevent you adding any other jabber name to login to the Google Server).
However this was an error in iChat 3 where there was no separate option for GoogleTalk and the software tried to add the Server Name as the Suffix of the Jabber ID (hence the Google Info on this being Tiger/iChat 3 based)
You may need to Delete the Account and start again.

I'm trying to setup a Message Service on Maverick Server, everything all right on server but when I try to setup on client computer with the same account on server appear this message

The Little I do know about setting up iChat server as it was called in earlier versions was that it needed something called reverse DNS to be correctly sorted.

I need help with resetting my ichat. When i try to login now it wont let me... it says "AOL Instant Messenger password" and then "iChat can't log in to ... because your login ID or password is incorrect. How do I reset this if I cant log in?

iChat (it would help to know which version) can accept Apple IDs as valid AIM Screen Names.
However if you have iChat 5 or earlier you cannot use ones ending in @me.com or @icloud.com issued by iCloud. (they can be used in iChat 6 or Messages as these versions make a double login to AIM and Apple to allow the use of the password).
In addition if you are using an Apple ID for an AIM Screen Name the password still needs to keep to the 16 character limit that AIM has.
AN @mac.com name can be used on any version of iChat (Until the 30th June 2014)
As it does not need a double check with Apple you can use it to log in to the AIM Web pages
Login here with an AIM Name registered at AIM or and @mac.com name and see if you get any suspended account messages.
Sometimes account can be suspended. Usually because something has triggered the "Unusual Activity" item.
About a year ago many @mac.com users that travelled out of their own country found themselves suspended when they got home.
If the Name checks out of if an Apple ID the password in known to be 16 characters or Less then do this:-
In Lion upwards open a Finder Window and use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library that appears in the menu list.
Navigate to Preferences.
(If you have version earlier than Lion the just navigate to ~/Library/Preferences (that's the Library in you Home - Little House icon - folder)
Fnd com.apple.ichat.aim.plist (even if you are using Messages)
Drag the file to the Trash and Restart the app.

1) Go here: http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/manage/
2) Click on Sign in to manage your Apple ID
3) Click on Manage your Apple ID
4) Type in your Apple ID and Password and click Sign in
5) Select Addresses from the left hand side
6) Click Edit
7) In country region type United Kingdom
8) Click Save at the bottom of the page
9) Go to your Apple Device Settings - General - International - Region Format - Select United Kingdom
10) Press the Home button
11) Log into Facetime and iMessage with your CORRECT APPLE ID AND PASSWORD
This should work for all of you guys. Hope it helps.

Keep getting message on iphone 6 that the user name or password in incorrect for aol

I keep getting the message for AOL mail on iphone 6+ that the user name or password is incorrect even though they are correct. This occurred suddenly for no reason.

Hello,
I'm having really weird problems with my skype account [Redacted for privacy.]. I registered a new one just to post this message, because I can't log in with my original.
I checked - I have 3 emails set in my profile. I'm logged in on the Skype App. Everything I want to change requires a password, and it doesn't accept the pass, even though I have it saved (using 1pass).
When I attempt to reset my pass, I'm receiving password reset emails for users that aren't mine. I successfully changed the password for two different users, probably making them suffer the same problem as myself. Not sure how Skype picked those two users and decided they are me.
So, I'm logged in, but can't change anything, or use some skype features.

I managed to fix it myself by manally entering the code instead of clicking on the reset link. This way a list with all accounts that had my email was showed and I was able to select my user from the list.
My email looks like a very popular typo.

I am also experiencing this issue. Yesterday I changed my .Mac password. My password is now longer than 16 characters. I am aware of an issue where every character after the 16th is dropped, but even when I type only the first 16 characters, I still get an incorrect password error.

In Messages, is it possible to see when a person is typing for Google Talk account?

In Adium, when in a Google Talk account you can see when a person is typing with a little ... indicator, so you know to wait.
In Messages, that's also how it works with AIM chats - you see a chat bubble indicating the person on the other end is typing.
But in Messages, when in a Google Talk account I'm not seeing any such indicator, so I don't know whether to wait or if the person has simply gone away. Is it possible to get such an indicator in Google Talk inside Messages? If not, I'll just switch back to Adium.

Can you swipe the screen with four fingers and see if it goes to another screen? Can you get to settings and then look at FaceTime and see if the email that is authorized is the one you think it is?

I may have just solved it. It involved confusing username and E-Mail address assuming they were the same

Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

IChat asking for my Google Talk password but I don't have one

I can't log on to iChat. When I launch it I get a window that says iChat can't log into my email addres because my login ID or password is incorrect. I don't have a talk.google.com password because I've never signed up for this service. When I hit the cancel button I remain logged offline. When I try to make myself available again it repeatedly asks me for my talk.google.com password.
Any ideas?

Your backup must be encrypted which is something that you would have had to have set up when syncing with iTunes at some point.
There is an option in the Summary Tab - Encrypt iPad Backup. That is what you must have done - or someone else did when backing up the iPad. I would assume that you will have to restore as new if you can't remember the password.

If this is a Name valid with the AIM servers the password has to be 16 characters or Less.
The Apple IDs from MobileMe and @Mac.com allow you to create (And prompt your for ) Longer passwords.
These Names are Valid with the AIM servers but they cannot process the password.
Use iforgot to Change the password to something shorter.
Googletalk
If you are using a Google ID then you have to enter your Google ID as it appears when you log in to the Google Web Mail Page.
The Mail App seems to allow the Endings (@gmail.com and @googlemail.com) to be used almost interchangeably where as the Jabber Server Google run for Google Talk is stricter (so iChat needs to be precise).
Also the chat option needs to appear in the Web Mail page.
If it does not it needs Enabling on you Google Account settings page.

Google talk password not working when logging in through iMessage

I'm trying to login to Google Talk using my iMessage account, but I keep getting a message that says my password for Google Talk is wrong. Consequently I get emails from Google saying a failed attempt to login to Google Talk has occurred. What is the solution??

Did you recently change your Google account so that "less secure" app authentication is turned off or setup two-step verification? You may have done this as part of a recent "Google Security Checkup."
If so, you'll need to re-enable less secure apps, or if you use two-step verification, setup a single application password for Google Talk.
