Login Issues-type one letter get 3

So heres the story, everything starts up like normal, but when i go to type my password in at log in, i hit the first letter only to have three black dots appear instead of one. It continues to happen with each of the following characters i attempt. Any ideas or help would be excellent. thanks

this is still a bit unclear. does it allow you to log in anyway?? i'm assuming not. can you erase the extra dots as you go, allowing you to log in?? have you tried a different keyboard?? have you tried keyboard in different port?? try a safe boot, holding the shift key during startup. if it manages to accept your password, check /library/startup items folder and also sytem preferences > accounts > startup items and delete anything in either place, and then try restarting the computer to see if you can log in normally. if that does nothing, then i would put in your panther install disk number 1, and then boot to it holding the c until you see a spinning cog under the apple. if it boots to the installer, select "open disk utility" from the installer menu. then select "macintosh hd" or something else if you have renamed your harddrive. run it a few times and let me know if any errors come up in red. after repairing, try starting up again. hope one of those things helps. Phone will only type one letter in text message

The last time I was using my phone I was deleting words from my user dictionary. I realized my phone was dying so I pushed delete and instead of the ones I had selected being deleted, the entire dictionary was just replaced with only three letter words, with about 4-7 copies of each word (this may be a separate problem). Then I saw the option to calibrate the keyboard, I started doing this and the phone died in the middle of it. I don't know if any of this has anything to too with my problem but....
When I plugged in the phone I couldn't text. the phone will type only one letter and then freeze. I can exit to the home screen but the keyboard remains on screen. the phone types normally everywhere but in the messaging box. also I can receive texts fine, and was told by someone that my phone had sent random texts from a month ago when it turned off and on.
Can anyone give any insight to my problem(s)? it is greatly appreciated.

Mac Book Pro only lets me type one letter at a time and delete one letter at a time without the quick speed..

When I hole o e ketter down it will frezze at that one letter. I can't hold a character down and have it repeat.
The same with the delete button. I have to manually delete each letter, one at a time. I can't have it in "speed mode" where you hole it don and it just keeps going.

Have you checked the settings for repeat rate and delay in System Preferences > Keyboard > keyboard tab?

I cannot register a secret phrase. I type it in the first box, type one letter in the second and it fails tellling me they don't match. I never hit enter or tab

I am trying to add firefox sync. Part of the registration is to create a secret phrase. I don't know what is wrong with it. It is not at all evident. I have tried a secret phrase with caps, without caps, with spaces, without spaces. As soon as I try to confirm it and type one character it blows up.

Did the user account also be deleted or disabled in AD? Disable account is different form remove account. If you disable an account the account is still stored in AD, whenever you need to enable it you can find it. So if you only disable the account who
leave the company, please remove the account and try again.

I am very happy when the Firefox browser suggests me sites I have already visited, when I just type one letter in the address bar, but I don't like that this letter gets highlighted in all the suggested urls,
I'd like Firefox always to offer me these suggestions, but if possible without highlighting the letter I type, and I don't know if I can (or how to if I can) change the settings of my browser to be so,

After Firefox update, pages are redirected whenever I type a letter or try to enter url, different redirects based on letter I type. Opens a windows explorer window, goes to original login, opens Start/Run window with cmd in box etc.

Please send some advice if you have any ideas of how to solve this issue.

It is impossible to enter any URL or use my browser other than the items in my drop down. Once there, say to my bank account, I cannot enter any password as I am immediately redirected to someplace else upon trying to type a letter or character. I don't know how to get my browser working. The search bar is not designed to take you to names beginning with the letter you put in. If you want to do that, use the letters down the side. In the search bar, the device will return results for all contacts that have that have that letter in them. If you type a couple of letters of the name, you'll find what you want faster. Once you get used to how it works, it's quite efficient.

Knock on wood, this seems to have been my problem as well. I stumbled on this thread after dealing with this ridiculously-long boot times for the past several weeks.
I just reinstalled McAfee Antivirus and my Macbook Air booted up in less than 1 minute. No more hanging on the boot-up progress bar. No more hanging after I click on my user's avatar on the log-in screen. Bootup would often take 5+ minutes and sometimes never complete.
This has been SUPREMELY frustrating.
