Login loop and Blue Screen

The system booted to a blue screen yesterday. Booted to leopard install disk and ran DiskUtil. Everything was OK. Ran repair permissions, OK too. Found a possible fix from Apple- MAC 101 Lesson 2: Startup Setbacks. Moved the com.apple.loginwindow.plist and the com.apple.windowserver.plist from /Library/Preferences. Rebooted and the login window appeared instead of the blue screen. Type in my password, the system went to a blue screen and back to the login screen. Changed the password from the Install disk. Typed the original password and the login screen "shook". Typed the new password and the system went to a blue screen and back to the login screen. Any ideas, other than reinstall the OS? From the command line,
drwxr-xr-x@ 11 root wheel 374 Nov 6 20:29 /usr
drwxr-xr-x@ 11 501 admin 374 Nov 6 20:29 /Users/me
It seems that the system doesn't know that 501 and "me" are the same person. In UNIX the /etc/passwd file enter would need to be changed to poit "me" to 501. Does anyone know how to correct this?

If it happens again...
Son was using the computer and I believe that his time ran out. He called me and when I looked at the computer, there was a blue screen with the mouse. The only thing that I could do is reboot, so I turned off the computer using the power button, turned it back on, and still, nice blue background and the mouse. I could not log in as anyone else.
What I had to do is turn off the computer and pull the plug. When I booted up again, I see that his account has reached it's daily max. Now I have to turn off the parental controls unless I want to continue to play tech support, THE one thing the iMAC was supposed to address.

  • Login loop with blue screen

I have seen this question before, but have found no definite answer, so I was wondering if anybody can help me.
My computer was running really slow, so I restarted it. At first I only got a bar sinister (circle with a line, as in a no smoking sign) after the apple logo, but after restarting in safe mode, I got the login screen. I was unable to log in to my admin account, but I can access my guest account. What happens when I enter my username and password for my admin is that it accepts the password, goes to the basic background for a minute, but then shows a blue screen and kicks me back to the login screen.
I'm currently running 10.5.8 on a 13" macbook. I already tried repairing permissions through disk utility with no luck. Unfortunately, I don't have my install discs because I've moved 3 times since getting the computer, and they've gotten lost in the shuffle, so if there's a way to fix things without them, that would be fantastic!

  • My Iphone is in a loop and blue screen is the ending.

It crashed when I was checking my email and then was stuck in the initial apple homescreen and then into a rotating wheel and then blue screen. Then goes back to the apple reboot homescreen and so on.
I can't access to my iphone at all! I'm out of the country on business and no mobile phone due to this bug! Thank you very much, Apple, always exceeding my expectations!

If nothing else works, you might try this one. It has worked for many others ...
Use iTunes to do a reset to factory default condition. Always be sure to do your backups before fiddling with your iPad. You might do both the iCloud and the iTunes backup, just to be sure!

iPad 2 and iOS 8.0.2 Problems
For all iPad 2 owners, this is an important solution for you! These problems result from long-term use, continuous upgrades, corrupted files and various glitches that happen over this long term use. You just need to get your iPad 2 back to FACTORY FRESH CONDITION to start out clean!
Here's one person's solution which will help a lot of iPad 2 users!
keithfrommariettaOct 12, 2014 3:25 PM Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade
Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED:  IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX:  FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device.  Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now!  :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

  • Can Motion 5 replace a green screen and blue screen in the same shot?

Can Motion 5 replace a green screen and blue screen in the same shot? I would like to replace a green screen with one image, and a blue screen with another.

Fox gives a good example for keying green & blue (or any other color)  from the same shot. I'd suggest doing a few things to get better accuracy.
First, the motion keyer always removes the color it detects the most of by default (blue/green). You can override this by setting the Strength parameter to zero, then use the Color sample tool to select the color you want. The advantage is motion will do a good job of targeting only the hue (color) that you want to remove and set an appropriate starting softness.  It also will remove spill based on this color.  Looking at Fox's example movie and the shot, I'd approach the same shot this way:
    Remove the Blue
    1. Apply the keyer and set the strength to zero.
    2. Use the Sample Color tool and select the blue (or other color) to be removed.
    3. Decrease the spill level (if needed). In Fox's example the spill from the blue glasses is going to be minimal, especially compared to the green screen, your shot may need different adjustments. Only de-spilling what you need to will give you more accurate color right away and minimize additional color correction that might be needed later.
    4. Use the Color selection tools (Chroma wheel/Luma bar) to fine tune.  Ideally you want a minimal tolerance, the inner selection, with a nice fall off, the outer selection. Try with the Scrub boxes setting first, then switch to manual if you need more control. Again see Fox's example.
    Remove Green
It's the same as the blue, you could apply the keyed to the same clip or a parent group, at this point it's many user preference.
With these techniques you can remove any color from a shot or create a mask based on a color. BTW, as you are learning to use the keyer I'd highly recommend  having the Color Selection open so you can see the graphs.  These give you real time feedback as you make selections and changes with the Strength, Refine and Color selection tools.  Watch what happens as you make selection or changes, sometimes the problem area is actually in the brightness not the color, or the softness may change  more than the tolerance selection.  Observing what is happening in these graphs will help you figure out wha to change and speed things up.

So a cropping line at an angle will give me a slanting top and bottom line. So how can I crop it so that the picture has a square aspect? Is the only recourse to go back to the original site for the picture, GIMP or iPhoto, perhaps, crop it there and re-import the photo into FCE? Or is there a quicker way?
    2) I have added a number of videos above my main video to show, for example, falling snow, and eliminated their black background by Modify - Composite Mode - Screen. Very easy and by no means unusual. So, my question, is, why all the fuss about green and blue screening? Setting it up seems troublesome. A black background for the purpose is much easier to make, and, for that matter, easier to find. I looked down my back yard this morning and this side of the creek are jet black bushes which would seem ideal for such a purpose. This seems such a no-brainer that I think I must be missing something. But it is curious.

    1) I shall immediately turn to the garbage matte section in your book - I'm sure I remember seeing one - and work it out from there. And here I always thought a garbage matte was that rug I bought in Cairo.
    2) A black screen. That does give me a thought. When I return to my upcoming masterpiece, " "Orrible Murder at the Castle Doom" I could put one of my granddaughters in a black suit, photograph her against a black background and Voila! a floating head. I wonder if they give out Oscars for original ideas?
    Once more. Thank you.

    Hi beginner_2012,
Thank you for your post, I will do my best to assist you.
I grasp that you were getting the error "display driver amd driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered" quite often.  Then a  few days later you got the blue screen then the above error message, after 2 -3 more errors the screen is now blank or black. Here is a document to assist you with this.  Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

grey screen no apple followed by blue screen with vertical lines. Graphics and logic board replaced <6 months ago. What to do? I held down shift, it gets HOT HOT and makes noises. (for safety mode) followed by a blank grey screen and blue screen. Then tried the other way (sorry, I think  it's command alt delete? I don't remember) and it turned from grey (no apple symbol) to blue blank. Then third time, grey followed by blue with vertical lines, not blocky clear lines that you can see if you are close to it.

  • Gateway FX and Blue Screen of Death

     Computer:
    Gateway FX 7024
    GeForce 8800GT 512 mb
     Problem:
I've had the computer for 1 1/2 years with very few problems. Recently, the screen will lock up solid and be illegible with "static" lines all the way down the monitor. Sometimes before the screen locks up, it will flip to the blue screen of death, say it's dumping physical memory, and then lock up. Only thing I can do is restart, but it will do it again at random lengths of time. Happens more while I'm playing games than anything else. Sounds to me like the graphics card has gone Tango Uniform, but a computer guru, I am not. Any ideas?
     What I've done so far:
I have checked for updated drivers and installed them.... no fix. I rolled back the drivers.... no fix. I have visually checked fans on power supply and graphics card to make sure they are working and they are fine. The fan on the motherboard spins, but doesn't appear to be moving overly fast. I checked BIOS and everything looks around what it should be for temp settings. In the "problems and solutions" application, it shows a video hardware error.
The only thing i did notice was there is only a 400W power supply installed and from the posts I've read, the 8800GT graphics card should have a 700-900W power supply. However... I've never had problems with it before. Could this cause the problem after 1 1/2 years?
help... i'm shaking from game withdrawals

Visited a company IT department today and an engineer looked at the AT&T Net Client settings. It now works - this may have been the "fix" for those in a similar predicament (all in the AT&T Net Client):
    1. Click "Settings".
    2. Click "Show the login properties window".
    3. Click "Configure".
    4. Click "Next".
    5. Select the "Both the internet and my company's intranet" radio button.
    6. Select "Managed VPN - SSL DualAccess" from the dropdown.
    7. Click "Finish".

  • FlashPlayer 10.2.152.26 and Blue Screen (ati2dvag error)

Hi. I know for sure that I’m not the only one to have this kind of problem.
    My configuration (single user):
    PC Acer Travelmate 6592G.
OS: Windows XP Pro SP3 updated with the latest patches.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT HyperMemory (with last version of VGA Driver).
    Browser: Firefox (3.6.13 version).
Antivirus: ESET NOD32 4.0.468.1    and  Malwarebytes on demand.
    No malwares or virus.
    My problem.
I used 10.1.102.64 version of FlashPlayer and everything worked fine.
I updated to 10.2.152.26 by ‘update flashplayer window’ … and now when I try to see any Youtube video,
    my PC crashes.
Here is what happens. After 15 sec it reboots automatically with a little instant of blue screen (that I can’t read). When ready, I try again to see a Youtube video and this time it still crashes, but it stops on the blue screen (that now I can read); the blue screen shows a “ati2dvag” error (infinite loop), advices me to check/update my VGA driver, and signals a “STOP: 0X000000EA (0X85721AE0, 0X89A05120, 0XBA51BCBC, 0X00000001)”.
Now I have to turn-off hardly.
    What I did.
I checked my VGA driver, and it was OK (latest version).
So I tried to uninstall (uninstalling file + reboot + control at http://www.adobe.com/it/software/flash/about/) and to re-install the 10.2 version (running the installing file). But nothing changed.
Also when I tried to link to http://www.adobe.com/it/software/flash/about/ I couldn’t see the spinning flashplayer logo (and I couldn’t try to disable hardware acceleration) because the PC crashed.
I tried to disable Hardware acceleration using the “windows Screen control panel” (hardware acceleration from ‘max’ to ‘min’), but nothing changed.
Now I came back to 10.1.102.64 version and everything works fine. But I’d like to have always my software updated.
I’m not an expert, so I can’t guess any other operation … but waiting for the new flashPlayer version (10.3 ?).
I do think that there is some little bug in this 10.2 version.
I hope to help all people having as the same problem as I.
    Thanks in advance.

    Maurizio,
I thought that I'd respond to your inquiry here instead via the e-mail.  I apologize for the delay in getting back to you as I've been extremely busy.  Anyway, admittedly, I am not tech-savy.  As a retired police officer and current sales representative, I just do not have the technical background to explain exactly what I did and how managed to repair the BSOD.  I stumbled across a post on my Google search where someone had suggested to go to Dell's website, enter your "service tag," which is essentially a build order, and from that, Dell's site was able to tell me which updates were applicable to my system and to be honest with you, I installed all of them and my computer is working flawlessly.
I am not sure whether or not your manufacturer has a similar support site, but if it doesn't, I would like to think that you print out your system profile and then go to the appropriate manufacturers' sites and obtain the most current drivers from them.  For what it's worth, here are the downloads that I installed:
    Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller
    Intel Matrix Storage Manager
Intel 825xx 10/100 Platform LAN Connect Device
    Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility
OPTIARC AD-7200S HH SATA Trayload DVD+/-RW
    Realtek ALC888 HD Audio
I did not list the Dell specific driver downloads as they wouldn't apply.  I also realize that some of the driver updates that I listed most likely had nothing to do with the resolution of my BSOD problem but I can say that by installing the latest drivers available for my system, I no longer receive the BSOD message.  My hope is that by posting this reply is that someone with the knowledge and expertise in this area can expand on my post by suggesting solutions to how you and others can identify the likely culprit and fix your machines.
    Good luck!

  • Belkin Flip KVM Switch and Blue Screen

G5 Dual 2ghz, clean install of Leopard.
I have a dual head video card, attached to the DVI port is a 22" monitor connected via DVI, on the ADC port I have ADC to VGA adaptor which a Belkin "Flip" KVM switch is attached, leading to a 17" monitor.
On booting I get to the point when the Finder should be loading and get a blue screen on both monitors, the monitors both periodically do a fade from black as though the system has just tried to change video resolution. However this loop continues.
If I remove the KVM and have the 17" plugged in, boot up is fine. This set up worked fine with 10.4x.
    Any suggestions.
    Thanks

Zork, have you cracked this problem yet?
I have a similar item - Belkin's Switch2 for Mac mini - and I get the same halting at the blue screen. Belkin UK's 2nd line support failed to replicate this error and replaced my device with the one that they used. It failed as well on my system (which works fine without the Switch2!).
In case it helps, a dig in the logs showed the following fault repeating itself presumably while the screen stayed blue:
