CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I just installed Crystal Server and posted my first Crystal report. I am now trying to run it. It is prompting my for a database login. I have tried everything I can think of including:
SQL server SA accountWindows account with local and domain admin priviligesEverything blankAdministrator and no password
I can run the report using Crystal Professional on the same PC. Professional does not prompt me for a username or password, it uses my Windows credentials.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,Scott Hanebutt
Hi
You can also run the report: RSRFCTRC (TO Trace RFC ) OR Tr. S_ALR_87101279 to trace RFC.
Hope thisll give you idea!!

IMac trouble login - need help badly
I need real big help here. My wife iMac decided to act up this morning, out of no reason. She didn't download and anything from website or new apps. This is what happening now.
As usual, we type in the password and click login. It started as normal and show the desktop but almost immediately (2 seconds), it goes back to the same login password screen. We type the password again and again and it does the samething. We restart same thing. We shut down and let it sit and start again, same thing.
Now, we have so many important files and memories in this machine!!! Can anyone advise how we can get it started again normally without reinstallation?
MANY THANKS.If you have the install disc, boot from it and use
Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then reboot from your internal drive and repair permissions. -
Website Login Needed to Download Photos? Stop! Make it seamless!
OK, I understand why Microsoft wanted to end point-to-point transfers, and push our photo exchanges into the cloud. I think it was kinda arrogant to just to do it, without giving users the option, but so be it. So now, when we upload photos, they first must upload to the cloud, and THEN the recipient can download them. Slower... but there is some advantages. Whatever. It is what it is. The problem is that it is not seamless. Now, when a supplier sends me a photo, it shows up as a link in Skype. I need to click on the link, which takes me to the Skype website. I need to login. It's a multi-step process. First, I need to enter my MSN ID. Then, I need to wait for it to ask for the password (no way to enter them both at the same time.) Then it will finally unlock/release my photo. And to add insult to injury, I need to do this EVERY TIME for EACH INDIVIDUAL PHOTO. I thought I had read that this was going to be a temporary thing... yet it has been going on for MONTHS!!! Are they EVER going to make this seamless on the iPad, like it is on a PC desktop? Now, I just apologize to my suppliers and tell them that Skype for iPad is broken, and they just need to email the photos to me. Alternately, I'm finding that QQ is not so bad (once you get past the fact that everything is in Chinese!). What does that say about the future of Skype when loyal, frequent users are starting to turn to Chinese apps for an improved user experience! /endrant
I'm in the same boat, it's been about 5 or so weeks (whenever the new iphone came out) and it's still downloading. Any help would be appreciated. I just updated to iOS 8.1 like 5 mins ago and nothing

Installing Ubuntu (or any other Linux distro for that fact) will render the recovery partition useless 99 out of 100 times if one doesn't specify differently when they're installing Linux...
Wiping an entire drive and doing a fresh install from recovery disks seems to be the only way out that I can think of.
Good luck.

Multi-site login, need help...
Heya,
I am wondering if anyone could suggest some possible
solutions to create a login form (using Joomla's pre-fabbed one)
that would login to other websites at the same time if the account
information entered was the same. For example: when I login on my
website it would also log me into my GMail account and my
Photobucket account.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how this could
be accomplished? Thanks!It is not possible for Gmail to authenticate since Google has
really gone betty-spaghetti with the way users login to Google
Account.
For simple login forms that don't use JavaScript, you can
copy the form elements into a new DW page, delete all of the fields
that require you to type something in them and insert hidden fields
in their place (make the values of the Hidden Fields whatever you
would normally type)
I went ahead and created a sample for you (I've done this
before in a Single Sign-On environment - I don't do this for
everyone)...
SSOFormLogin
from Me. Just copy the source code into your site.
And I hope I made SOME sense... -
hey the name is brain ford. and i am having issues with my bc partner login. for some reason. i am able to get in 1 time out of 10 login attempts. i should not have to login that many times. i am wondering is the partner portal not wanting to save my new adobe password. or does it not want to read it. ? i am able to log in to adobe ID with no problem, even back to back. like twice in a roll. same for adobe creative cloud, and aobe bussines cataalyst normal login. i am starting to think that i should of never changed my password. just my email.

I use a macbook that dual boots OSX and sabayon linux, both partitions are encrypted (as a hole harddrive and each partition separately) so there is no way they are sharing information.
When I log on using OSX it askes me for a password every time(that's how I like it set up) but when I boot into sabayon It has never asked me for a password not even the first time I connected.
Every other wifi network that I use I have had to put the password in twice (once for each OS).
I don't no if this is a potential floor in BT OpenZone or not but It should be brought to someone attention. It is at the very least a security risk.I checked again today and I was connecting to bt openzone and it never asked me for log in details I just opened my browser and went straight to what I was going to go.
RogerB wrote:
It's not beyond the realms of possibility the required and accquired information is stored in a cookie file.
Depending on how you have chosen to use or set cookie information.
That is true, but I have never even been asked to put in my log in details when using my sabayon partition, so there cant be a cookie with any information. And like mention in my first post the two OSs cant share info.
From the Looks of things it is a fault, or there is a work around cooked in to sabayon(witch I doubt but is not impossible) -
OD-Clientusers need long time to login
Hi there,
I hope, I can get some help here...
Running an OD-Master (10.5.8) with nor replikas, I have the problem, that sometimes the User-Login needs some minutes for successfull login.
What I can do to solve the problem for the moment is to remove and reconnect the clients to the server. But this doesn't solve the problem permanent.
The DNS is running fine and does not make trouble.
In serveradmin in the replik-tree window I recognized, that there are three IPs listet (10.0.11.6 (the correct OD-Master), 10.0.11.5 (just LOM of the server) and 10.0.11.7 (another xserve, which does only serve DHCP, DNS and Softwareupdates).
So I think, here is the reason for my trouble.
What do you think?
$ dscl /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 read /Config/KerberosClient XMLPlist
offers following:
XMLPlist:

</plist>
$ dscl /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 read /Config/passwordserver PasswordServerList
offers the same three IPs in the plist.
Should I edit the plist(s)?
If yes: How can I do this?
What else could I do?
Thank you for your assistance,
Peter.Peter
You're welcome!
Running the "changeip" command is not necessarily a guarantee of anything - especially when it comes to LDAP Services. When doing the initial Promotion to OD Master you should have noticed this disparity? At that point you should have stopped and double-checked everything again. The "scutil" command in conjunction with a properly configured DNS Service is particularly useful in getting things back on track quickly and efficiently.
It's possible this disparity happened because you used the Server Setup Assistant after the initial Server Install? Unfortunately - if you did - that was your first mistake. Never use the Server Setup Assistant to configure anything other than defining the Server's default administrator account details, its network address and its hostname. As for its hostname you have to decide right at the beginning before doing anything else what this is going to be and you have to try and stick to it. Changing your mind afterwards can potentially break things in a major way.
If there are no existing DNS servers on your private network you will have to configure the DNS Service on the Server itself (as well as getting the Server fully up to date) before doing anything else. If there is an existing DNS Service create the appropriate records there.
I don't think the advice in the support document will actually help? Although you could try it if you wish. You might get more mileage from using the "changeip" command? This might bring things back on track and 're-align' the Kerberos Realm to the Server's true hostname? However depending on how mature and extensive your LDAP Database is it may make things actually worse. Even if it worked it may not necessarily help with other services you may or may not be using that depend on LDAP Services. Services such as iCal etc may end up not working at all or being problematic afterwards.
Ultimately you may be looking at Demotion and Re-promotion? with everything that that means. You have to make sure you prepare the ground properly first. Demotion blows everything to do with your LDAP Database away - users, passwords etc but not home folders.

Can't connect to SQL Database using new login
I can connect to Azure SQL Database using the admin ID created when I set up the Azure account. Now I want to set up a different login that has only regular read/write privileges. I have followed the instructions on several web posts, to create
a login at the server level, then create a user at the database level from the login. When I try to connect, though, the connection fails. I get an error message, and a GUID that I am supposed to supply to MS tech support, except that all I have
is a standard Azure subscription, which does not include tech support.
Here is what I have done so far:
Logging in to the server with the admin account with SQL Mgmt Studio, I go to the master database on my Azure server, and create the login:
CREATE LOGIN clouduser@gxw8x04nlb with PASSWORD = 'xoxoxoxo';
This appears to work (password supplied is a "strong" password), or at least it doesn't show any error response.
Then, connecting to the production database in Azure, I set up a user and set permissions as follow:
CREATE USER clouduser1 FROM LOGIN clouduser@gxw8x04nlb;
EXEC sp_addrolemember 'db_datareader', 'clouduser1'
EXEC sp_addrolemember 'db_datawriter', 'clouduser1'
When I attempt to connect to Azure using the new login, however, I get an error message (from SQL Mgmt Studio as well as from MS Access). I am using the SQL Server Native Client 10.0.
The message is:
Connection failed:
SQLState '28000'
SQL Server Error 18456
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'clouduser'.
Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 40608
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]This session has been assigned a tracing ID of
'271851d5-8e94-497c-a332-d9d40682bb7a'. Provide this tracing ID to customer support when you need assistance.
Is there some missing step I need to do, to permit the login to see the database? I have looked for such in the various discussions about connection problems, but have not been able to find such a thing. Or extend more permissions to the new
user? Or specify a default user ID for a given login ? (as they do not have the same names, in the examples I have seen). I tried making the user ID the same as the login (w/o the server name), but that didn't seem to help, either.
I have done numerous web searches, and tried about every variation of login or user ID, password, etc. that I can think of, and all of them encounter the same error. It's got to be something very simple - clearly Azure supports more than one login
per database. But's that's all I have at the moment. That login connects just fine, but others won't, using the same PC, middleware, IP address, etc.
Any help would be much appreciated -
Thanks,
DougOlaf -
I noticed that, but all of the examples I have seen have Users named slightly differently from the Logins. I did try logging in with the Login name instead. No good. I tried making the Login and the User name the same (clouduser). Also
no good - same symptoms.
I think the problem is that the initial creation of the Login needs to be done WITHOUT the server name on the end.
Logged in to the master DB, I tried: Create LOGIN clouduser@gxw8x04nlb with PASSWORD = 'xoxoxoxo';
That didn't give me an error message, but I think it created a LOGIN of 'clouduser@gxw8x04nlb'. When
referenced from the outside world, I would need to specify 'clouduser@gxw8x04nlb@gxw8x04nlb'.
I tried deleting the logins, and then creating the login 'clouduser' in the Master DB. Then in
the application DB, I created User clouduser from LOGIN clouduser, and then assigned a role. That seems to work!
In my connection string, File DSN, etc. I still need to supply the login as 'clouduser@gxw8x04nlb'.
But when I am logged in to the server, and working in the Master DB or the application DB, I just refer to the Login as 'clouduser'.
Seems a little more complicated than it really should be, but at least I now have something that works.

Do the shell script have to login into Oracle Apps
I am calling the Document Processor Java API from a shell script. The problem I have that its unable to find the
xdo://PO.POXPRPOLXMLRTF.en.US/?getSource=true
file within the control file.
Is this because somewhere a shell variable needs to be set, or a login need to be made into the Oracle Apps, so this template stored in XML Publisher is accessible.
Please advise!Another things you can do is
begin
tmp_res := apps.fnd_web_sec.CHANGE_PASSWORD('TESTUSER','changeme',false);
update fnd_user set password_date = null where user_name = 'TESTUSER'';
end;
Once you do this, when the TESTUSER logs in with the password=changeme, he/she will be redirected to the change password page.
Hope this helps,

Need java runtime invironment for vnc is this in mobile or will it download?
Using I1 phone. Want to do VNC remote login to computers. On my laptop firefox gives me an alert to download JAVA runtime invironment. Before the VNC site will allow me to login. I want to know if the mobile version will allow this download or what other options exist
Sorry, there is no Java plugin available for Firefox mobile. Also, current Firefox releases are not compatible with the Motorola i1 phone. For details, see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
You can find VNC apps in the Android Market that might work for your remote login needs. -

Little more research I found that auto login needs to be enabled. I am still working on resolving this issue, I have spent over 12 hrs to resolve this issue. I will post with my troubleshooting results. Please advise.

Oracle 8i Lite: logging to sql plus - uid, password, host string - whats that
If i install "Oracle 8i Lite" (just locally, not networked). There are two important things : "Navigator", and "SQL Plus". If in navigator, I create a local database called "xxx" (tables under 'system' user). Then if i need to query - i go to SQL Plus. Fine, but how do we log in - what is the "host string" ?.
The login needs, Userid, Password, Host String. In some docs, it said the userid, password for 'system' account is 'system, manager' respectively. Anyways, now the host string , i had read the 'host string' will be like "@databasename", so I think for me, it will be "@xxx"
But the way, I'm understing, i cant log, and SQL Plus says something "TNS: could not resolve service name". Maybe i have to something with that tnsnames.ora file....?
Incase, you could give ANY information, kindly inform.
Thanks

Host string usually refers to the host string that is stored in your TNSNAMES.ORA file. You can open TNSNAMES.ORA with a text editor.
If you get "TNS: could not resolve service name", it's either you have not start the database or your configuration in TNSNAMES.ORA is wrong.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
hi,
iam getting the same error(the TNS thing)can you be a bit more explaining regarding how to solve the problem.
thanks
