seems like macbook air accepts the password but can not go any further. takes us back.
This is my wife's computer. she dropped her computer. Right away she checked to see if it restarts ok. It did, she was able to access her desktop with all the application icons and all that. But she said she had issues with her mouse cursor. Some of the clicks and keyboard buttons were not responding. She decided to restart her computer and thats where we are right now. Log in page keeps coming back after shortly after accepting the password.

  • Virus keep coming back even after I restored to factory...Help...

Hi, my model is toshiba p755 s5320.
I wrote a few months ago, when I got this Alureon virus, then I decided to restore to factory settings.
I rarely use this laptop, I don't know why I keep getting it and it keeps coming back. I only go to very few sites that are safe. I don't get it.
Im considering yet again --- restore to factory settings. What if the factory recovery is infected, could that happen???? Is there a way to get this factory restore in CD form?

Seems to me if the hidden partition containing the image were infected, Monica, it would not restore properly. That would be one smart virus!
It does modify the master boot record (on the first sector of the disk). But recovery discs replace that too. So far as I can discover it does not affect the BIOS, which is not replaced during recovery.
You can obtain the recovery discs directly from Toshiba if you like.

  • Login just keep coming back.

My computer stop working right so I reinstalled leopard OS, ran utilities and tried to run disk warrior.
Now I get the login box and put in the right password and the screen goes away and then blinks and comes back to the login page. I put in wrong passwords and it just shakes so I know I have the right one but that just comes back to the login.
    Please help!

From the link that CMCSK gave above, although I don't know if you have, "a password of 8 or more characters", or if that matters now, I think you will find your solution here. Good luck.

Edit: Maybe your inability to login is preventing DW from rebuilding your disk, I'm not sure. But in general, if you have DW4 and you boot from it, it will rebuild a drive that has 10.5+whatever. But it won't, from the disc, verify and repair permissions.
By the way, Disk Utility now can take an extremely long time to complete. On my Mac it has taken 30 minutes+

  • Mac pro suddenly is not able to start after accepting the password

for some reason after the last time i did a shutdown the mac now does not start up. I enter the password ,( correctly , i checked for caps lock etc..) it seems to accept it and then it blinks and takes me back to the login . The same thing happens on the guest account I had set up. different password entered correctly.
OS is the lastest 10.7 with all the updates.

yes , that was probaly the case, though swore i had used shift when starting. Anyway I then tried it again in safe mode but same result. I got into the hard drive and was able to track down the system log finally .
    I saw the following :
    May  7 16:43:19 aMac-Pro-4 SecurityAgent[117]: Login Window login proceeding
    May  7 16:43:20 aMac-Pro-4 loginwindow[62]: Login Window - Returned from Security Agent
    May  7 16:43:20 aMac-Pro-4 loginwindow[62]: AuthorizationRef returned an error (100022), with username = MYUSERNAME
May  7 16:43:20 aMac-Pro-4 loginwindow[62]: This indicates that a SecurityAgent plugin has returned something other than errAuthorizationDenied (usually cancelled) after the auth record is set up.
    May  7 16:43:20 aMac-Pro-4 com.apple.loginwindow[62]: AuthorizationRef returned an error (100022), with username = MYUSERNAME
May  7 16:43:20 aMac-Pro-4 com.apple.loginwindow[62]: This indicates that a SecurityAgent plugin has returned something other than errAuthorizationDenied (usually cancelled) after the auth record is set up.
looking around for this 100022 error i found a solution that worked for someone else with the same issue and tried it:
I was able to fix this by using the terminal (either in recovery or singler user mode) and removing the file /var/audit/current. It's supposed to be a symbolic link pointing to the most recent file, but it seems like it gets corrupted.
    So for the single-user fix:
Reboot and hold Command+S for singler user mode.
Once you get a command prompt mount the partition for write access
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    Then remove that file.
    rm /var/audit/current
Sure enough i removed the corrupted file and it works like always, I can boot type in my password and I'm back in action.
Now I am just left wondering how the corruption happened?  any ideas?
Thanks for all of you who looked at this

  • Why doesn't Firefox recognize the Windows Live Mail login page as such and offer to remember the password?

For most other sites' login pages, Firefox recognizes that they are login pages and offers to remember my password. For the Windows Live Mail login page it does not.

That log in page is created via JavaScript and the Password Manager doesn't work in that case.
You can see that if you inspect the page source.
*Firefox > Web Developer > Page Source
*Tools > Web Developer > Page Source (Ctrl+U)
*Right-click on a web page to open the right-click context menu and select Page Source

  • The message to update to Firefox 4.1.0 keeps coming back even after I have downloaded it. How can I stop it??? It has been downloaded several times.

This has been downloaded 3 times but the message to update keeps reappearing.

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up, probably by something that you installed. It shows that you have still have Firefox 3.6.17 installed. <br />
    [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent]
type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
    Filter = '''general.useragent.''' <br />
Right-click the preferences that are '''bold''', one line at a time, and select '''''Reset'''''. <br />
    Then restart Firefox

  • Login itmes keep coming back

Firefox and Thunderbird apps keep appearing in the "login items" on my mac. So that they start up when the computer starts. I keep removing (deleting) them but they won't stay gone. I'm highlighting them with a check in the check box and then hitting the minus button below.

Have you tried it without the checkbox marked? Just Highlight and then the minus button?
This file might be damaged & need moving to the Desktop then reboot...

  • How do I get rid of the 'buump.me' home page? It just keeps coming back.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 OS and my firefox web browser is compromised with this 'buump.me' home page which I can't get rid of. I've been into the cache, deleted all my cookies, manually changed the home page and the backup home page in the preferences folder. Still keeps coming back. Where is this nasty bit of code lurking in my machine and how can I get rid of it?
    Thanks for any help

    Thanks ideato
I tried this and lost all my bookmarks and stuff! But found them in a backup file.
I've solved the problem by creating a new firefox profile and importing my settings and bookmarks from the old one (carefully, so as not to import the virus as well)
Now the old profile has the virus and the new profile is just fine.
I could just delete the old profile... but I'd love to find out exactly where this buump.me bug is lurking, so maybe I'll keep the old profile for a while and see if I can find half a day or night free for detective work.

  • Mozilla firefox start page keeps logging itself on after I close all internet windows I come back and there it is. Why??? Make it stop.

mozilla firefox start page keeps logging itself on after I close all internet windows I come back and there it is. Why??? Make it stop.

I've got the exact same issue! I'm pretty sure it just started today too. It's so bizarre because we've all been using Firefox 26.0 for at least a month, right? How could the ''about:home'' page all of a sudden cause this issue?
I've been able to replicate this issue on a virtual machine running Windows XP SP3, so clearly it has nothing to do with Windows 7.

After restoring my iphone 4 to factory settings, then restoring from a recent backup, my phone will reboot but keeps coming back to the "new setup or restore from backup screen". How can I by-pass this screen to go directly to the sync apps/music screen?

Well, it's certainly behaving as though the phone that was backed up was synced to a different iTunes library.
I'm going to throw one more thing out there... Yes, you backed it up to this computer... Was the phone previously set up to sync with this computer? Or was it syncing with a different computer and you just backed it up to this one?
You may have to end up setting it up as a new device and rebuilding the phone by manually re-syncing your data, apps, music, etc. to the phone.
Trying to keep your library on a different drive can be tricky. If iTunes starts up and the library isn't available, it may end up generating a new library ID, meaning that you could easily find yourself in exactly the position you're in now...
I'm curious why there was a need to restore your phone to begin with... It may not have any bearing on this at all, but it could.

Apple's Mail application can use either IMAP or POP. In fact Gmail can be set either way.
