    Hi,
If you're running Windows 8 or 8.1, see the Microsoft page on the following link.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/forgot-windows-password
Note:  If you have a Local Account, try the free application Here.
If you're running Windows 7, Vista etc, try the following.
Using another PC, download the application on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.
    PC Login Now
When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder and double-click the installer - this will result in another file appearing which is the disc image ( .ISO ) that you need to burn to a blank CD.
You will now need to use an application such as ImgBurn to burn this ISO correctly to a blank CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.
When the disc has been created, shutdown the PC you can't log-in on, tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to access the Start-up Menu, insert the CD, select Boot Options ( usually f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and hit enter - you may also have to 'Press any key' to boot from the CD if asked.
Follow the instructions on the guide Here to remove the current password.

  • Password reset is infuriating

I'm an Internet software product manager.
I've designed logins, password reset flows, etc.
Apple has chosen a combination of "features" in their AppleID reset process that makes me absolutely crazy.
If I could walk away from iTunes alltogether over this one infuriating detail, I would. But, it all ties back to the hardware - you can't have an aluminum unibody, never-breaks, never-crashes system without succumbing to iTunes, even as a "corporate" user (ie, update Numbers so you can do your accounting, and face ads for this week's 14 yr-old girls' most popular games... but I digress).
    Consider these features:
If you fail to sign in twice (by getting the password wrong), you are forced to reset the password
Resetting the password requires you to never use a password you have used before
    As well:
If your employer bought software for you on your system (the computer they supply you with), they might have used a compay AppleID for that - and maybe they give you the password, so you can get updates.
If your employer has you set up an AppleID for yourself (using your company email), for things like your iCloud features, you have two accounts to juggle.
If you have your own software (e.g., Things or OmniFocus) and want to use it at work, you use your personal account - you now have 3 accounts to juggle.
If you've ever had or started a different AppleID for any reason, you cannot merge them, transfer ownership, etc. (Discussions.Apple has cases like this) - you now have 4 accounts to juggle.
If you have children (let's say ONE, just to pretend) with their own Apple device (iPad), you've set up their own account for their own stuff... 5 accounts to juggle.
If you or anyone fails to get the password correct, it gets reset, and it is always different than anything before.
If you try to reset by recieving an email, there's a 50% chance, in my experience, you never get that email within the first 30 minutes. ("Production grade?")
Try - try - to manage security questions for these accounts. Share with your boss; your boss shares with you; and what do you share with your kids?
How, with these feature choices, can you not end up with a white board at work & at home, for people two write passwords on in plane sight, just to be able to do their jobs or rent a movie?
And for me, simply with my own account, I don't have anywhere to write my AppleID password that I can get to reliably (work, home, on the road) other than my phone, or Evernote, synching to the cloud perpetually.
So, I've devised a way to write a coded version of my current password in plane sight, and others will (hopefully) not understand what I'm doing.
I've written my (current) AppleID on the unibody case of my computer.
    Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks -K- for the response. I'll try that but it shouldn't be the cause of my issue. You see, a few weeks ago, I had SQLDeveloper installed on all our team's 32-bit Windows XP SP3 workstations. The reported issue was occurring then as well. Since then, the 64-bit Windows 7 workstations arrived and the saga continues:-)
Any other thoughts on my issue is appreciated.

  • After password reset, can't login to Powerbook G4

My old Powerbook G4 was out of commission for a while because the memory was corrupt. So I bought new memory and installed it into the Powerbook G4.
It finally turned on, but I forgot the password. I wasn't able to find the original install disc so I used the install disc that came with my newer MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5 on it.
The G4 currently has OS X 10.4.10 installed. The 10.5 install disc wasn't able to install OS X 10.5 onto the G4, I'm guessing because its for intel macs only.
So, since all I wanted to do was change the password I was ok with that and went into Utilities/Password Reset. The hardrive didn't even show up! So I restarted the computer, but I accidentally selected the startup disc to be the 10.5 install disc.
No matter it went right back into the installer disc menus, etc. I went into Utilities/Disk Repair and the hardrive showed up. I then did a verify and repair disc which completed successfully. I then went into Password reset and the hard drive showed up this time. I selected it and my user account was there and I reset the password. I then restarted the computer, but again had forgot to tell the computer that the startup disc was the internal hard drive and NOT the 10.5 install disc. I went back to the menus and Utilities/Start Up Disc and changed it back and restarted the computer.
When the computer restarted a finder and ? icon briefly appeared and then went into the normal login window but with a blue screen behind the login dialog box and my user account name was no longer there/selectable. I entered my user account name and the NEW password and it shook. I restarted it two more times and the same thing happened. After those first three times, the finder and ? have never appeared again, however I still cannot login.
I went back to the install disc and tried a verify and repair disc permissions but got an Error: No valid packages (-9997) message. So, I'm lost now, and I figure I need to find the original install disc with OS X 10.4 on it in order to do a reinstallation of the OS. I just hope nothing on my hard drive gets erased.

    Hello,
You are correct the Mac OS X 10.5 MacBook disk will be little help to you. I'm surprised it booted to allow you into disk utilities. Your also correct that you would require the disk that came with the PowerBook.
If you try holding down the option key, does that allow you to select your hard drive to boot from?
I do think that you would need to reinstall the OS (Mac OS X 10.4) either using a retail copy of the disk or some replacement system disks. I doubt there is too much wrong with the hard drive itself.

  • Login password doesn't work (and repeatedly resets itself)

I've run across an odd problem maintaining my in-laws' Mac Mini running OS X Tiger (10.4.11). From time to time, one of the user (non-admin) accounts seems to lose its password--if I type the correct password in to log in, it's rejected. (Yes, it's the correct password, and, no, caps lock is not on.) Every time this occurs, it always happens to the same user account. I haven't been able to figure out any other way to restore access to the problematic account than logging in to an admin account to reset the password on the problematic account.
The most puzzling thing is that resetting the password works for a while, but then the problem reoccurs. This has happened at least once or twice a month for several months, and I'd really like to find the underlying issue. Just to rule a couple other things out, I'm sure they aren't changing their password, and I have tried running Disk Utility in the past to repair permissions with no effect.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi there,
Here is something that might be helpful - reset the password of the user by using your system disk. Put your Tiger CD in the computer and restart. As the computer is restarting, hold down the C key until you see the gray Apple appear. This will begin the "setup" process. Press OK for selecting your language and then at the top, look at Utilities for "Password Reset". Change the password to something you have NEVER used and click Save. Restart and open Keychain Access. Under Edit - click the "Change Password for Keychain" and then reset your password with the same password you used in the "Password Reset". Hope this helps. I've also found that disabling the airport card will usually allow me to login with problem account. First, I would login with Admin account, disable airport, then re-login with "problem account".

  • Need to Clarify: Reset Windows Login Password can hack to CSS data?

    Dear ThinkPad fans
Until now, we both know that we can find many ways to pass over and reset Windows Login Screen. So my question is if they can use tools to reset my Windows Login Passwords, can they use reseted pass phrases to discover my CSS data?
Any can clarify to me? Thank a lot.

  • Can no longer login to Blackberry App World or get a password reset, please help!

I cannot login to My Blackberry App World on https://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/login/
I have entered my email and password but it is rejected.
When I ask for a password reset I am prompted to answer a security question. The security question I am given is one I have never set, so I do not know what the answer is meant to be!
Consequently I cannot get a password reset so am unable to access My Blackberry App World, either on my phone or on a pc.
What has happened to my account and why can I no longer log in..?

Apparently, there was something corrupt in my Profile. I backed up my default profile, created a new one and copied over the critical folders and files - the addons; backedup bookmarks, places.sqlite; password info in key3.db and signons.sqlite.
    Issue resolved.

  • How do I reset my forgotten Mac Book Pro login password ?

The "help" on my MacBook Pro insists I can change my forgotten login password by using my apple Id and password, by simply hitting the arrow beside the login password box. It appears after a failed attempt to enter your password at Login, however the drop down menu does not appear. The whole box shakes and that is all. In other places such as security and privacy all attempts are blocked , because I am asked to enter my (forgotten) password.
    Please advise, kind apple lovers.
    x

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know that account password, the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

  • Can't login to Mac OS X server website after password reset

    Hi,
I set up Mac OS X server for our small company and tried resetting the password of my network account that is managed via profile manager.
So, under Accounts->User->MYUSERNAME->reset Password, I typed in a new one and hit ok.
Now I can't login to the server website anymore (for editing our wiki or using profile manager etc.), neither with the new one nor with the old one.
I already tried different passwords (resetting it again and again), I looked at the password directive, I checked my user name, tried to login from different computers and tried logging in with another account (which worked quite fine, so it's just my account). Finally I searched the internet for a solution for quite some time but didn't find anything similar.
It would be great, if somebody could offer some advice.
    Best regards.
    Lasse

Solved it by deleting the user and creating a new one with the same userID.
Maybe it occured because I marked the "user has to change password after first login" box when resetting the password but didn't yet allow him to do so in the webpages menu?!?

  • When trying to reset my login / password, text in red says not connected to internet please verify connection, when the macbook air IS connected to wifi.

    cannot reset forgotten login password.

You don't need to be connected to the Internet to reset the password.
Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:
    resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected. You won't be able to do this if FileVault is active.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but the Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as the login password), there's no way to recover it.
