  • How does the login process works with a bind to AD?

    Hi there,
I am trying to bind our mac to our Active Directory. Before doing I'd like to understand well how the login process works. Is there any reference I could look up to?
For what I've understood until now with an example user "testAccount" and no automount and no AD extension and the ADplugin set as:
    a) if mobile is set, then a /Users/testAccount is created and if UNC is set then a smbHome is mounted "on desktop". If UNC is not set, do nothing more
    b) if force is set, then a /Users/testAccount is created and if UNC is set then a smbHome is mounted "on desktop". If UNC is not set, do nothing more
    c) if force is NOT set:
--c1) if UNC is not set and cannot map NFSHomedirectory at all, then login the user with such a temporary home
--c2) if UNC is set mount SMBhome and use it as mounted home folder (NFSHomeDirectory-->SMBhome "/Network/Servers/my.server.com/users/testAccount")
--c3) if UNC is not set then retrieve the homeDirectory-NIS's attribute in AD (NFSHomeDirectory--> "/homes/testAccount") and create /homes/testAccount
my doubt now is point c2) after I login in with a "#mount" I get:
    trigger on /Network/Servers/my.server.com/users (autofs, automounted)
//[email protected]/users on /Network/Servers/my.server.com/users (smbfs, nodev, nosuid, automounted, mounted by testaccount)
but my SMBhome is not correctly mounted on remote server (but the Library folder and MCX files are created!) and I get home errors because the system is looking for "/homes/testAccount", which I don't know where it is coming out from given that a
    #dscl /Active\ Directory/my.server.com -read /Users/testaccount |grep homes gives only out dsAttrTypeNative:unixHomeDirectory: /homes/testAccount
    thanks,
    a.

Is there any reference I could look up to?

  • Modify unbounded task flow for login process

I wonder if I can use the unbounded task flow for login process. I have a login page, a home page and a change password page. As per the requirements, I need to show the login page first, if user password is expired, I need to show change password page, after user save the new password, I show the home page. If user password is not expired, then we go to home page directly.
I have modified the unbound task flow adfc-config.xml. I have created a method call, which references a method in my managed bean to check the redirect page. I have created a router, which would go to change password page or the home page based on different outcomes. But the problem is, every time when I run the application, it always goes to the home page directly, even when the user password is already expired. I have set up break point at the checking redirect page method in my managed bean, looks like it never got called.
Did I miss any steps here? Please advise. Thanks.

A method is not a runnable object in your pageflow - so you can't start from it.
You need to start from a page when your run your project.
One option - convert your flow to be a bounded flow with the method as a default URL and then run it.

how can I force 802.1x wired client computer to plug lan cable during boot and login process in order to prevent bypass user login group policy  ?
I want to force lan cable plugin during login process on 802.1x computer only weird client?

    Hello,
you can disable CD/USB with GPO settings to prevent the use from it.
And for the change from the local admin password you should consider that the CEO of the company should make clear policies so users can legally be punished if they don't work with the company rules.
You can manage lot of settings with scripts etc. BUT there is a time where the CEO is responsible about rules.

Here's one more reason why this error occurs in Toad. It is when you have more than one Oracle Client installed on your machine. Even when you select the correct Oracle Home in "Connect Using" field of Toad, you still get this error "Can't initialize OCI. Error -1". So, to solve that you need to go to the installation folder of that Oracle Home (e.g. C:\Oracle\ora92\), then go to the BIN folder. Open Oracle.Key in Notepad and confirm that it is showing Registry entry/path to the correct Oracle Home (e.g. HOME0 or HOME1 or whatever).
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I stop the login process when I open iTunes?

How do I stop the login process when I open iTunes? It often request I login sometimes twice.

I amhaving the same issue of having to log into  my apple account wheever I open I-Tunes. In my iTunes sharing my password requirment is unchecked and in filevault it is unchecked also. I have just upgraded to the newest version of iTunes and I still get the pop-up window asking me to login.

  • How to change the login process

    Hi SDN,
I've set up an Ecommerce 7.0 application with a B2B config. All is running an ok.
I want to change the login process. We have userid's like 000005999999. In the LoginAction, i want to add this zeros before the id automatically so that the user can login with 5999999.
My problem is that i don't find the Action which is performed after login.
The form in the login.jsp looks like this:
(Sorry i couln't post that code normally because SAP means thats cross site scripting. Remove spaces, then i looks normally)
for /user/login there should be a forward at config.xml...but it isn't. No entry at config.xml and no entry at config_user.xml.
Which Action is performed if i press the login button on login.jsp? Can someone help me please?
Where can i change this Action to a Z_Action ?
I think its the LoginAction.java... but where is it called? Where can i change the call to the Z_ class?
For b2c it will be easy to find the LoginAction...there its defined in the config.xml... but at b2b... i really do not understand how that is working. Please help me with that problem.
    Thanks and best regards,

In web.xml  there is an init-param definition that maps as this:
    <init-param>
      <param-name>config/user</param-name>
      <param-value>/WEB-INF/config_user.xml</param-value>
    </init-param>
So, all the forward name s with /user prefix  will be checked in the config_user.xml
If you are trying to define a ZAction and would like to add /user prefix to the forward name, then you have to place it in the config_user.xml.

  • How does the Login process work?

    Hello,
How exactly does the default 'Login' process on the login page work?
When the following code is executed:
    wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.login(
    P_UNAME => :P1_USERNAME,
    P_PASSWORD => :P1_PASSWORD,
    P_SESSION_ID => v('APP_SESSION'),
    P_FLOW_PAGE => :APP_ID||':2'
Does the execution continue to the code below or is it halted and the user is redirected to the flow page?
I need to set the username and the user id (from SQL query WHERE username = :P1_USERNAME) ONLY IF the authentication has been successful, otherwise NULL them. What's the best way to do this?
After the wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.login(...), how can I check if the user has been authenticated?
    Thanks :)
    Pavel

    hi pavel--
wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.login sets :APP_USER and then redirects to p_flow_page upon successful login. when you say, "I need to set the username and the user id (from SQL query WHERE username = :P1_USERNAME) *ONLY IF* the authentication has been successful, otherwise NULL them" i'm guessing that you really want your user to not be logged in upon unsuccessful credential verification. if so, that would already be handled by wwv_flow_custom_auth_std. a good way to see this in action is to examine how the Sample Application handles authentication. the login page 101 does call wwv_flow_custom_auth_std with the supplied credentials, but if you don't pass the Authentication Function check specified in the Sample Application's custom authentication scheme, the session is still invalid, and the user is still on page 101. i'm pretty sure that's the behavior you want, but please clarify if not.
    thanks,

  • User login process after Upgrade  from 620 to &7.00

    Hi all,
We are on SAP R/3 4.6c, BW 7.0 with BIA 48, SRM 3.0, WAS 620 with ITS supporting portal connections to R/3 and SRM & CUA system which is the issuer of the SSO.
User login to portal with id [it's not sap id used for SAPGUI] and Ldap matches with Employee id and checks with CUA to create the SSO ticket, user can work on R/3 links or SRM links depends on his authorization. R/3 ,BW & SRM having CUA system certificate for SSO.
Communication between Ldap and CUA system is thru ITS and Portal to R/3 & SRM  is also thru ITS.
We  are planning to upgrade R/3 to Ecc 6.0 and SRM to 7.0, CUA  to 7.00  and WAS to 7.00 dual stack systems.
we are thinking  Once upgrade is done ,   ITS will be vanished from the environment so the login process will be User login to Portal with ID and Ldap checks with CUA  and with the issued ticket  user directly communicate wit R/3 and SRM.
Please suggest if we are missing anything on SSO &   the new login  process with  SSO  is right ?
    Thanks,
    Subhash.G

    >  We  are planning to upgrade R/3 to Ecc 6.0 and SRM to 7.0, CUA  to 7.00  and WAS to 7.00 dual stack systems.
Just as an advise: I highly suggest avoiding the installation/upgrade of dual stack instances.

  • Login Process & Security of /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow

    Guys,
I have few questions, Please help me out.
    1. What is the Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 environment's boot files ?
    2. While Logging into Solaris Operating Environment , which is file is responsible for Login Process ? Through which file/command the username and password is cross checked with /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow ?
    3. We all know that /etc/passwd come with -rw-r--r-- permission and /etc/shadow comes with -r--------. I did a chmod and assigned 000 to both the files. But Still I am able to change the password for the normal user. And as a root I am still able to cat the contents of both the files.
    Help me understand these concepts.
    Thank you.
    Arut

Sounds like you're very new to Solaris:
    1. What is the Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 environment's boot files ?/kernel/genunix is the primary boot file. The directory structure in /kernel is also boot related. /usr/kernel is also boot related.
    2. While Logging into Solaris Operating Environment , which is file is responsible for Login Process ? Through which file/command the username and password is cross checked with /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow ?Generally three files are related: /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, and the program /bin/login. Some applications will process /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow on their own and bypass /bin/login - but for you're purposes this is a good general answer.
As a minor example (and if I remember correctly), say someone uses telnet to log into a system. Telnet prompts for the login ID. Once input, it passes forks off /bin/login with the login ID. /bin/login reads the user password information from /etc/shadow and takes the first two bytes from the password field (column 2 using : as field seperator) which is the crypt salt (see crypt man page). /bin/login prompts for the password which the user inputs. /bin/login takes the user input password and the salt value read from /etc/shadow for that user and pushes it through crypt. It then takes the resultant crypt output and compares it against what it read from /etc/shadow - if they matches the user has input the right password. If not, it prompts the user again with a password prompt.
    3. We all know that /etc/passwd come with -rw-r--r-- permission and /etc/shadow comes with -r--------. I did a chmod and assigned 000 to both the files. But Still I am able to change the password for the normal user. And as a root I am still able to cat the contents of both the files. To change your password you run the passwd command. That command is SUID root - so for a short period of time you become root within the context of that process. Root is basically god mode and doesn't care about file access priviledges generally. So that fact that /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow have 000 file access permissions doesn't matter - root can still read and write to them.

  • Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection

    Hi Experts !!!
In my client machine , when ever i start SAP application , i need to choose the server and enter UID and PWd.
but it is not getting connected to server , and throws error as
    "connection failed :
    SQL State : 08001
    SQL Server Error : 0
[Microsoft][Sql Native Client]Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection ." *
    Any suggestions woould be appreciable
    Regards
    Krishna Vamsi

Hi, I had similar connections problems at a clients site recently, the following helped me resolve the issue:
SAP provided the following solution as a workaround:
SAP Business One client (not installed on the same machine as the
license service) might take several minutes to log you on successfully due to a delay in establishing a connection with the license server.
After logon, SAP Business One functions as expected.
This is due to the fact that the server or PC on which the license server is installed has more than one network card, or there is a dial-up & VPN interface-configured server.
Note: This can happen when you install the license service on a machine with more than one network card ALREADY installed.
Installing additional network cards on a single network card machine with a license service already installed might not produce this issue.
    Other terms
SAP Business One, slow, login, log-in, delay, license, server, NIC, VPN, connection.
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Application error.
    Solution
This issue is a candidate to be resolved in a future release.
Until then, you can use one of the following workarounds:
1.Disable additional network cards in the Network Connections. Also make sure there is no dialup interface or VPN interface set up, and restart the server. Note that you can re-enable the additional network card after the restart. This will resolve the issue until the next restart.
2.Install the license server on a machine with a single network card.
3.Disable all network cards, restart the license server and then enable the network cards again.
Disabling one of the network cards sorted it.  This may or may not be the same problem you are facing though.
    Regards,
    Adrian

I'll confess I'm a Terminal newbie beyond the most basic tasks, so I've had a rather frustrating time tonight because I've been unable to get past the "login" process when starting a Terminal session.
I've waited about five minutes with no results, and I've tried ctrl-C and ctrl-Q. It's probably a simple fix, but I'm out of ideas.
    Thanks!

Maybe this is the same problem I just posted about but do not have an answer yet? Not really trying to login to anything, just never get a prompt?
