Login takes me to C: directory page
All of the sudden, Skype is opening up a C: directory after I submit my log-in credentials. I cannot open Skype. I can open my Skype account, but not the call control site / page. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, cleaned out my regestry and reinstalled - nothing is working. I'm Windows 7, pentium, 64bit, Lenovo. Any suggestions would be apprecaited!
I recently gave my old G3 Tower (beige) to a friend who has never had a home computer. She loved it until yesterday! The G3 is running 10.2.8 that I installed (originally it was 8.5, then I went to 10.1 and 9.1 then to 10.2.0 and 9.1 then to 10.2.4 and gave up 9.1 then to 10.2.8. I also upgraded the memory, from 256 to 384 and added a USB 2 port card to take a printer and Zip.
When I was using it all was (mostly) well apart from it occasionally being really difficult to start up if I had shut down for any period of time - I usually just put it to sleep, but if I was away on a business trip I would shut down. I found that resetting the PRAM, holding down the tiny restart button for 10 seconds and reseating the USB board worked - (tedious, but it worked).
My chum called me today in a panic because she is getting the Darwin-BSD console screen. I went over an checked out everything. Did the PRAM routine mentioned above - still the same problem. Worse, the console log in screen does not recognise my log in or password. My 'hands-on' computing background is UNIX - but that was a long while ago, so I tried (what I think is the default) - 'root' as the login + 'password' as the password - but no joy.
Now I'm stuck. Do you think that resetting the NVRAM would work? (first time I've ever heard of this wheeze)
I was going to reinstall the OS, but if I do this my chum will have lose all her files and apps.

I log in to portal as user1 and go to a page and then log out of the portal. Then I try to login as user2, it takes me to the same page where the previous user was. It looks like it caches the page information. How can I avoid this. Please post a reply if you have some suggestions.

----------Thanks for checking it, Jason. Yes, the cache settings are for 'Every visit to page'. That was the first thing I thought of. I have a feeling the problem has to do with a cache setting somewhere in our installation. For example, I'm still plagued with a few user accounts returning errors when I try to log in. The users aren't logged in, but when I click "Login" from the Portal Builder page, I see the same error...it's not even letting me get to a login screen. Thanks for all the help. It's great to get some feedback. In the meantime, we'll continue to track it down here.

Open Directory: user authentication and logining takes a lot of time
We have Mac OS X Server Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with OpenDirectory and some iMacs with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8. After adding Network Account Server in iMacs (System Preferences->Accounts->Login Options->Network Account Server Edit) OD works normally and users authenticate and login their accounts rather fast (5-10 seconds). But some days or weeks later the time for authentication and logining takes for about 5 minutes. If I re-add Network Account Server, then all works greatly again. What's the matter? How to avoid this re-adding?

number of tables, number of objects, size of the .unv file?
Also, is this behaviour specific to this universe or you have other universes having the same problem?
Last, are you 'opening it' as in File/Open or importing it as in 'File/Import...' ?

OID instance not showing up on the Internet Directory page
The customer is trying to get iasconsole to display performance metrics, but OID instance does not show up on Internet Directory page. This is a clustered OID install and this only appears to occur on the clustered OID consoles. Fanout nodes display correctly. The customer also tried the suggestion in note 363483.1 but it did not correct the issue.
Any inputs appreciated.

I got a new laptop today and after downloading firefox I tried to use the synk feature and it says I have to add device on my old computer. In following the directions I never get to the screen to enter the codes from my new computer onto the old one. When I click add device on the old computer it takes me to the help page on the web with the same directions that took me there in the first place! So, how am I supposed to synk my new computer if I can't add device on the old or simply log in to my synk account on the new?
Ok, I figured it out, I clicked "i don't have device available" and it let me log in to my account.

Recently i updated my the itunes but after doing so although it would open on my computer for a bit, it wouldn't recognise it - ie, syncing phone or I could open the program but when trying to redeem a gift voucher it didn't recognise the program on my PC and suggested i install it!. Today it wouldn't open at all so I tried to uninstalled it so i could reinstall it from scratch but now it won't re-install but just takes me to 'thank you' page.

I have created a email in Fireworks and wanted to make a line of text a hyperlink that would take the viewer to a page on my website. I want to attach the final document to my email and sending it out.
1) design for no wider than 600px (otherwise it may not fit in email clients).
2) Slice up your newsletter design in segments for images and html areas with the slice tool.
3) add the <a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com">my website</a> link in one of the html areas.
4) export as generic html 4 code, and put the images in a separate folder.
5) upload all the images to your website's server in a folder (you cannot embed images in an email newsletter - they must link to externally hosted images).
6) change all the links in your html page to the ones that were loaded up on your server. For example, an image's source link would work out similar to this: <img src="http://www.yourwebsite.com/newsletter/image1.jpg" alt="alternate description of your image">
7) open the newsletter with working external images in Chrome or Firefox. Select the entire page content (ctrl-a), and copy it (ctrl-c).
8) create a new email in your mail client. Place the cursor in the body. Paste the newsletter (ctrl-v).
9) send your newsletter to hundreds of recipients, and get blacklisted by several email servers. Receive warning messages from your own hosting provider not to spam other users' email accounts.
10) realize this is too much of a hassle, and instead opt for a service such as MailChimp.
(The result in (9) depends on whether you sent out your newletter only to acquaintances, or not. But even then you might be warned off.)
Btw, many email clients turn off images in an email by default. You must provide the most important content as html, not as images. -
itunes will not load on my ipad. Icon is there. When I open "Music", it shows itunes with no content briefly and then takes me back to home page. What to do?
Quit the app and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
How to take parts of a web page and feed into a PDF template to create a PDF
Interesting quesiton that I think was what LiveCycle was for: How can someone take parts of a web page or xml document (say by id name or a specialized tag) and feed the chosen items into different regions inside a PDF template?
Basically, can you identify areas on a page and then tie them to place holders in a pdf template (with high res graphics say) and create a PDF?
Please note: this is not about converting a whole webpage to a pdf, but select portions of it.
Anyone have experiences in doing this? So far, it appears to require a toolset like LiveCycle or Adlib to utilize only selected items and not the whole page.The lack of answers is likely due to folks having no clue. What you have asked is not really the purpose of either Acrobat or LiveCycle, but that is not to say it can not be done. A starting point is to bring a WEB page into Acrobat as a PDF. This can be done by printing from the browser to the Adobe PDF printer, using PDF Maker with IE or FIrefox, or simply creating directly in Acrobat. Those are the normal ways to get things from a web page to a PDF.
That said, it is not what you asked. You are asking about being able to parse parts of the web page. That is a lot more work and may not be directly possible, though with JavaScript it might be possible. I suspect that if it is possible you would require a lot of extra programming to allow the material selection. It may be the folks in the SDK sub-forum can help.
Being I have no clue how to implement what you have asked (and probably no one else either), I can only suggest some things to look at or other places to inquire. If you think the XML of LiveCycle would help, then you might try the LiveCycle forum.
In terms of your post, I really don't remember seeing the original, but that was right near the end of the semester and I was not checking the forum very much. There are various reasons folks may not reply, typically because they have no clue. Templates are also somewhat specialized and there are not many posts about them. My guess is that the template aspect may have had a lot of folks skip the post. In any case, I have tried to give you some thoughts. -
I have installed Elements 13 on my Mac but can't see how to open it. When I click on the disk icon on the desktop it takes me to an information page that gives no information about opening Elements 13. How do I open the software so that it can be used?
Unfortunately, when I open applications, adobe photoshop elements 13 folder does not appear in the adobe folder. It appears as a disk on the desktop, only.

Upgraded 2 FFv.4. Used 2 type a utility's name in2 url field & it would usually take me 2 that utility's website w/out knowing the url. Now takes me 2 crap search page. Why is that feature gone & how do I get it back?
Typing into url field used to send me to google search, now it's a total crap generic search. wtf? What happened? I pretty much hate v.4 right now and wish I never upgraded :P
