Login window banner stuck at the bottom of the screen.

I follow these instructions
How to create a Login window banner in OS X Lion
and I was using the banner, fine.
Then, I upgraded my macbook pro to Yosemite from Mavericks.
But at my first booting, that banner repositioned itself more to the end of the screen.
Now "Accept" button disappeared and it's impossible to boot up.
That window is not movable so I can't move it whereas it comes before log in screen,
so it is impossible to delete the file or something. Well I tried to delete it in terminal but
/Library/Security folder has gone. I think it's because of the OS upgrade..
I really need to use my mac and can't wait to use Yosemite for the first time.
It's sad that I did nothing wrong and things like this happens.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi, I just ran into this problem as well.
I haven't found a way to actually fix the Login window banner but did manage to get rid of it so that I could log in.
Note: My policy banner was in /Library/Security, however, my banner gets put there by a script I run to bootstrap all my Macs (I manage a lab). This was after a clean install, not an upgrade, so your mileage may differ.
You'll need to boot into Single-User Mode (Command-S just after the boot chime). You'll get a message and a bash prompt. The filesystem will be read-only, so run the commands in the message, which are:
fsck -fy
mount -uw /
source
These need to be entered exactly and VERY carefully.
Then:
cd /Library/Security/
rm -rf PolicyBanner.rtf
Again, these need to be entered exactly.
If you can't find that directory, you could try something like:
cd /
find . -iname "policybanner"
and that might give you the location of the file.
I guess the bigger question is whether we'll be able to the Login Window banner anymore. It's kind of essential for my lab...

Thanks for your response, I was able to open bridge from File-Browse in Bridge. This worked, but was not able to go back to the way I always opened Bridge. At least I could get to Bridge and go into Camera Raw. I never tried to open Bridge from the Start menu. The odd thing about this is, it has happened before, and to get it "unstuck" and working again, I would shut down and restart again in a few minutes, and things would go back to normal. This time it did not go back to normal after several attempts. I shut down for about 3-4 hours, restarted, and it seems to be back to normal again. I am not sure if it's a problem that is getting worse each time it happens. And yes I am using Mini Bridge in photoshop CS5. Thank you for your help. Dan

Why does the Safari window sometimes open with a 1/4 inch gap along the bottom when the desktop shows through?

I am using a 15 inch Macbook Pro i7 2.66 GHZ. 8 GB ram. 500 GB hard drive. OS 10.6.8. All updates are done on a regular basis.
Sometimes when I open Safari the window leaves a small 1/4 inch gap along the bottom. In this gap you can see the desktop. This is instead of the Safari window taking up the entire screen. When you click on the green button on the top left then it will open in the entire screen and the 1/4 inch gap is gone. This does not happen all the time but is annoying and I don't feel it should be happening. Does anyone know the solution so this stops happening and has anyone else ran into this?

it's the space for your dock. if your mouse enters that area, the dock will appear. if the window just went to the bottom, it would always initiate the dock whenever you had your mouse at the bottom of the conent window. This is un intuitive and I'm sure apple did this so you wouldn't initiate the dock.
This has become more intuitive in Lion and the dock pops up when you're at the absolute bottom of the page. which is what Sig and myself are both using.
I've also noticed it will adjust the window to the content. are the pages you're going to small in content and therefore wouldn't stretch all the way to the bottom of your screen? like a login page or a splash page? I have notice maximize will adjust the width of the window to ASC even after I had it taking up the whole screen before toggling the green button. Hope this helps!

Login Window crashes, stuck in loop

MacBook 2.0ghz 1GB RAM, brand new hard drive, complete erase and install of 10.5, update to 10.5.1. Works great. A few days later it no longer boots up properly. Stuck trying to open the login window. The following codes loops infinitely. I don't want to reinstall but rather find a fix. If I reinstall it may just happen again.
Here is what it says verbose.

This started happening to me. I don't suppose you found any answers eh? I am going to try booting in safe mode and repairing permissions from the DVD. (I would start up to the disk, but my optical drive is broken, go figure).
Have you tried repairing permissions by booting for the install DVD? Please let me know if you found a solution.

I'm on iTunes 11.0.0.63 for Windows. iTunes used to display the total number of songs in my library, along with total playtime and memory footprint, at the bottom of the window. How can I make it display this information like it used to?

Ctrl / or View > Show Status Bar should do it.
Weirdly having turned mine on the menu is not there to hide it again and the shortcut doesn't work.

How to understand the "New Item" icon at the bottom of the Project window

I'm trying to understand that small "New Item" box at the bottom of the project window better. I'm aware that when I bring video clips into my project, if I drag them to this box, PPCS5 will add them to the timeline. I partially understand the positive reasons for doing so, primarily that PPCS5 will correctly identify the type of video being brought into the project. I know that if I select all my clips and drag them to the new item box, that all my clips will be added to the timeline at the same time and all together on the timeline. There are many things I don't understand about it. If I add my clips one by one using the "New Item" icon, they will show up as separate sequences on the timeline. If you try to add another clip at a later time, can that clip not be added using the "New Item" box? One other question is what would be the advantage in putting clips on the timeline as separate sequences? And one further question is do you drag other items to this box besides video clips? Like music, and still images?

Dragging something to the New Item icon doesn't just add that something to a sequence. It actually creates the correct sequence for the something to be added to.
You do this once, when you need a new sequence. Anything else you want to add to that sequence you do by other means.

Can I change a banner from the top to the bottom of the screen?

It is extremely annoying when a banner drops down when you are using commands at the top of the page; very few commands are at the bottom of the screen. To me this is a NEGATIVE against the iPhone and Apple should have seen this from the beginning !!

Don't have a direct answer. But did you install the updates. They might resolve the problem.

What happened to the info at the bottom of the finder window in Mountain Lion?

Mountain Lion has gotten rid of the file info at the bottom of the finder window. Does anyone know if it is just a setting change?

Choose Show Status Bar from the View menu. You may need to choose one of the other settings to get that option.

A window with the headings: Validation, Browser Compatibility, Link Checker, etc. has somehow appeared at the bottom of my screen. It takes up about 25% of the screen, and I don’t need it. I do suppose, however, that it will be useful to me someday. How do I get it to appear and, most importantly, disappear?

Not actually, his statement is to not worry about what is in Other. That is opposite from iOS, if you have 8GB of other you most likely have corrupted files on your iPhone and you need to Restore to eliminate them.

Missing bar @ the bottom of the browser window

in previous versions of FF (up to 3.x?) there was a bar at the bottom of the browser window which showed:
- a lock when on an encrypted page
- a field when the download pop-up was closed while there were still downloads going on and showing how much time was left for the download(s) to finish
