Login window only shows "Other..." account listed
For some reason when my wife reboot her iBook running 10.3.9 the login window came up and only showed the "Other..." account listed. Her account and mine are both not visible. Nothing was changed before rebooting and we cannot login using Other even if we type our username and password.
Here again a poster ask for help to solve a problem...he/she solves the problem and he/she post that the problem was fixed...but did not tell the rest of us how the problem was solved!!!!

Anyone has an idea what's happening?
I'm running Yosemite on MBPr 15" Mid-2012
When I power on or reboot the laptop, on the login window it only shows one user account, my account which is the Admin account. It doesn't show the secondary normal user account I created for my wife. However once I'm logged in and I hit log-off, then it shows the 2 user accounts available for login.

Letting other users unlock the drive
If you want to make the Mac available to a user that doesn't currently have unlock capabilities, log in as a user that can unlock the disk. When you see your own desktop, choose "Log Out (user name)" from the Apple () menu. Also, you can unlock the disk, then switch to another user from Fast User Switch menu in the menu bar.
If you want to grant existing users the ability to unlock the drive on their own, open the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences. Select the FileVault tab and click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window. Enter your admin privileges when prompted. Click the "Enable Users..." button to add existing users to the list of accounts that can unlock the disk.

I'm wanting to use the "Actions" in Photoshop Elements 11. But when I get the actions box up, it is only showing a small list of effects to use. And no side bar. So I can't go any further. When I click on the little arrow at top and click on "load actions", I am only getting a box with empty space saying "No items match your search". The folder at the top does say "Actions". How do I get more effects? The tutorials that I've checked into all show a long list of effects in their box. Can anyone help?
To use the existing actions, try the following:
1. Open one of the Action Sets, in this example Special Effects is the Action Set, by pressing the small arrow beside the set name.
2. Then click on the name of the Action, in this example Faded Ink is the Action name.
3. Then press the Play button to run the action. -
SAPScript: why the window only show the LAST line

In my form, one of the window only show the LAST line of the it.
I have set the window enough space, also when debuging the program , open_form, write_form,
all of those sy-subrc = 0.
both static texts and dynamic texts are set in the window, but only the last line shown.
Anyone could help me?

There are several possibilities to resolve your problem.
You can work with 2 main windows on in1 page.
With NEW-WINDOW you switch to the next main-window
How to use it.
make an item in main window with that /: NEW-WINDOW command
if you are ready with first loop call a WRITE_FORM with that NEW-WINDOW statement.
to cojntinue in the other main.
Other possibility is. (in case there are not ot many lines)
Use for every line other variable names.
Fill these in the loop. And after loop WRITE FORM
eg. (if maximum is 3 lines)
&VAR1_1& &VAR1_2& &VAR1_3& &VAR1_4&
&VAR2_1& &VAR2_2& &VAR2_3& &VAR2_4&

Login Window clock shows incorrect time, clock time fixes itself after log in...

This morning I turned on my MacBook Pro and while I was typing my password to log in, I noticed that the time in the login window clock had a wrong setting. The time displayed was 4 hours delayed in relation to my time zone. However, after logging into my user account I looked and the menu bar and when the clock got displayed, the correct time of my time zone appeared.
I don't know what could have caused this issue. The only thing I know is that yesterday evening, I was using my MacBook Pro with Windows 7 via Bootcamp and used it for a prolonged time (about 5 hours), and then shutdown the computer and did not touch the computer until this morning. Could these issues be related? I know OS X and Windows measure their times differently because the former OS calculates time in relation to UTC and the latter OS calculates the time using the actual zone you have specified in the time settings.
Other than that the issue has not manifested itself again since this morning but I haven't booted into Windows just yet.

Color Picker (Color Window) only shows "Crayons" in Pages...
Greetings, In Pages '09, the color picker is now only showing the "Crayon" color picker. Earlier today, it let me choose Color Wheel, RGB, CMYK, and other pickers. It does not even show any of these other options in Pages! These other pickers are still available in Keynote. I have tried deleting and reinstalling iWork, and still just have the Crayons in Pages. I have tried deleting "com.apple.iWork09.plist" and I still just have the Crayons, with no option to choose any other color picker. Am I doing something wrong? Where are the other pickers? How do I get them back?

You may have picked the wrong preference list because you made the wrong assumption. In your post you are making the assumption that the Colour Picker is part of Apple iWork.
If instead you were to assume that the Colour Picker is part of the operating system then you would want to try deleting NSColorPanelSwatches.plist.
Internally, the Colour Picker is a client of ColorSync and the swatches, if memory serves, are represented as ICC NMCL Named Colour profiles.

Imported DNGs generated in ACR for Windows only show thumbnails
Hi,
Today I imported DNGs from pictures I've created with my 350D through the last year or so. Some of these work completely fine, but others won't show the full-resolution image; they only show a small 256 x 171 thumbnail version.
There is a pattern to whether it's working correctly or not: the DNGs that display correctly were converted on my old iBook - in other words using Adobe Camera Raw for Mac - and the ones that don't work were the pictures I processed on my Windows PC, thus using the Windows version of ACR.
Another thing I've noticed is that apparently the changes made to the pictures in ACR are not recognized by Aperture - is this to be expected?
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to make my pictures work as they should? Thanks in advance.UPDATE
My solution works but I would suggest a few things to avoid a problem I encountered (see THE PROBLEM below):
- Copy your Aperture Library File to the desktop (after backing it up to your vault), then reload Aperture. Your Library should now be empty.
- Then import your DNGs in batches to this new library
- As each import batch is successful, export the project to a file on the Desktop.
- When they have all been successful, copy your original Aperture Library file back to its original location (after deleting the new one you created)
- Then import the projects you saved to the Desktop one by one
The above steps mean that you don't have to go through the process of restoring your library (and all the thumbnails) should Aperture spit the dummy and crash during a DNG import. If it does, you won't be able to fix it without restoring the library... A pain in the A
THE PROBLEM
I was having a problem with a handful of DNGs which seemed to cause Aperture to crash and exit. I couldn't work out what was going on but now I think I have an answer.
The problem seemed to be with DNGs created with the newer versions of the Windows DNG Converter. Converting them with the latest Mac DNG Converter (v3.4) did not resolve the issue.
So, I downloaded the Mac DNG converter v3.1 and converted the existing troublesome DNGs v3.1.... and it works. I can now import even the troublesome DNGs into Aperture now without a hitch.
There seems to be no way of telling which DNG converter version was used to create an individual DNG although I found that it was related to all DNGs after a certain date (ie. the date I started using the newer DNG converter!)
I hope this of help to everyone and that it has answered the question.

How to disable automatic login and to see other accounts?
I bought MacBook Pro Retina with Mac OS X 10.8.2 in a shop, where there already was account "kiosk".
I created new account, gave him Administrator priviliges.
In the Preferences / Users & Groups I see kiosk account as "Managed", and my new account as "Admin".
I set:
System Preferences / Security & Privacy / General / Disable automatic login = Checked.
System Preferences / Users & Groups / Login Options / Automatic login = Off.
But still I have two issues:
1) After start the laptop automatically logins into kiosk account, while I explicitly switched off this option
2) Apart from kiosk account, the OS doesn't see any other accounts, for example my new account.
For example, when I changed login shell for kiosk account into /usr/bin/false, I couldn't login at all. The OS said something like, there are no active accounts. So I had to set login shell back to /bin/bash using single-user mode.
The questions are:
How to disable automatic login into kiosk account?
How to see a choice between kiosk account and my new account in the login dialog?
How to delete kiosk account? Currently the delete option is disabled for kiosk in System Preferences / Users & Groups.
So far after laptop start I automatically login into kiosk, then switch into my new account with entering a password, which is weird.
Thanks in advance.It is your only option if you want to get rid of that other user account. It seems the system is Hard Set to boot to that account. How and why I have not Idea but the first thing you should of done was Restoring it to the Original OS, if it was not Mt Lion to begin with, in doing so getting rid of all other accounts and files from that other account.
Time to Bit the Bullet and Erase the drive completely and reinstall the original shipping version of OS X on that system.

Your default email account is probably the one that is associated with your Apple ID email address.
Go to Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Mail>Default Account and see if you can change it there. -
When bookmarking a page, I click on the star or the menu. The 'Edit This Bookmark' window appears, I click on the folder arrow and select 'Choose'. The resulting window shows a large black shadow with the top left of the actual window. If I run the cursor across the black shadow various parts of the missing window appear and I can complete the operation, but it obviously sould not be doing this. I am using FF4.01 in Ubuntu 10.4 Lucid. I have taken a screenshot if you need it.
You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Login Window Clock shows Incorrect Time
I've noticed over the last while that the clock in the top right of my log-in window screen is about 20 minutes behind the actual time. When I login, the desktop clock changes to the right time. Does anyone know how to adjust the log-in window clock?

using lion 10.7.4, can`t login at login screen as administrator or root user, both properly enabled. the option other will not take the proper entry. it will accept the standard user login.
Try resetting administrator password or resetting home folder ACL's for root user.

When i turned my iMac (Lion OS X 10.7.2) on, the lockscreen shows up with about 1/2 to 1/4 of the lockscreen in the top left corner of the screen. It still works but is just smaller and the rest of the screen is black. Ive tried rebooting and theres nothing on the web that has a similar story. Its not a huge problem, it just annoys me sometimes. Its also done this in previous version of the OS its just continuing to do so. Thanks in advance
