    I was searching for a photo on myiMac when it went into an endless loop. Only way I could think of to stop was using the button at the back of my computer.  After restart, had to erase  text in Appleworks one character at a time, because  highlighter did  not work properly; also  looked "different: when typing  on an internet website . ..and was unable to highlight  layers  (in Photoshop). What did I do wrong? and How can I correct it? PS: Also unable to edit my system. (Am only using  my iMac Intel these days, with OS X.4.11)

    Anybody able to help me out with this one? West coast, you awake yet?

  • Slow login with Mac OS X Lion and OD

    I have server 10.6 with all the latest updates.  Clients with 10.6 login just fine with OD and home folder stored on server.  10.7 lion clients login extremely slowly with exact same setup.  Any ideas?

    I am on Cogeco but I don't think that sounds right, I would contact Shaw if you haven't already. What does speedtest say?

  • Password is needed after login with Mac Mini

    When the monitor sleeps , it requires me to login again . I have removed a sign in login , and it still requires me after logging in to log in . I would not mind but I live alone and it is not necessary .

    Go to: Apple > System Preferences > Security and in the General tab, uncheck ☐ Require password _____ after sleep or screen saver.

  • Endless loop on iMac after OS update, wont recognise wired USB mouse

    I just installed an update on my 2010 iMac, running 10.7.5 and it completed successfully, but now I am stuck in an endless loop on startup. The dialog that shows up over the startup screen (user icons showing up correctly behind it) is from the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, and is titled "Bluetooth Mouse or Trackpad Setup". Its telling me there's no wireless mouse or trackpad connected, which is absolutely true. I prefer wired mice and don't use a trackpad with my iMac. There is a Logitech USB mouse attached that I've been using for a long time, it worked fine immediately before the update. It was plugged into my Apple wired keyboard, but I've also rebooted with it plugged into the Mac directly thru a USB port on the back. Same thing both ways.
    Its now looping endlessly, saying "Attempting to connect with mouse #1 (hex code follows in parentheses)", then it says "No wireless mice or trackpads have been found. Make sure your wireless mouse is discoverable", then it goes back to the attempting to connect, and so on...
    Anybody got a way out of this??

    Wow. Would never have believed that was possible (that's why I didnt consider it...). It appears that indeed the software update itself fried the mouse. The same mouse whose last click was to click the "Restart" button on the software update dialog. A different iMac won't recognise it either, and the mouse from that Mac breaks the endless loop from the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. Looks like I need to find a new mouse, I wonder if I can still find one with a wire...
    Any thoughts on whether this was pure blind coincidental failure, or is there some way a restart itself could damage a mouse somehow??? Hard to imagine the software did it per se, so perhaps it was one final reboot that broke the camel's mouse's back?
    Thanks, Linc.

  • Accidental Endless loop on button

    After much ado, I have finally gotten the customized submit by email button to work on several forms.  I added to a new form and now I have somehow created an endless loop and I cannot figure out why.  What I did:
    I added a regular button (not the submit by email button).  Under Object/Field I selected Submit.  Under Object/Submit, I selected submit as pdf.  I need to capture signatures on a form that will be audited down the road.
    Then I added scripts.  I used java script, run at the client.
    Then I added under PreSubmit* the following language:
    var strToAddress, strCCAddress, strSubject
    //Capture the values from the form fields.
    strToAddress = txtToAddress.rawValue;
    strCCAddress = txtCCAddress.rawValue;
    strSubject = txtSubject.rawValue;
    event.target.submitForm({cURL:"mailto:"+ strToAddress + "?cc=" + strCCAddress + "&subject=" + strSubject,cSubmitAs:"PDF",cCharset:"utf-8"});
    I checked this with the other forms which are not creating endless submissions and I cannot see that I did anything differently.  Can anyone help????
    Sarah

    Hmmmm... would appear that you need to be actually logged in to enable the additional menu features.
    Have you tried deletting the plists for MAS?

  • Mac 10.6.8 ical "server responded with an error" endless loop

    I get an endless loop. "The Server Responded with an Error "--click OK. Next window "The Server Respnded with an Error"--whether click "go offline" or "return to server" takes me back to first window, ad infinitum. Can't change anything on calendar; cannot access ical Preferences. basically cannot do anything except Force Quit, whether logged into my account or my wife's [registered to my wife's yahoo! email].
    Also cannot synch calendars now between imac, iphone, and ipad like we could in beginning. Using 10.6.8 because some of my peripherals not compatible with later.
    This problem just started a couple of days ago [the server problem freezing the calendar, it hasn't been working properly for awhile and the calendar synch was lost when a friend upgraded the iphone software.]
    What can I do to restore 1] the functionality of the ical? and 2] synching the imac, ipad, and iphone icals?

    I read another response to a similar question posted a couple of years ago. I turned off the Wifi, restarted iCal offline, and that eliminated the message. However, as soon as I turned on the Wifi the message again appeared, the app froze requiring a Force Quit, and the game is still afoot. NO SOLUTIONS ANYONE?

  • Mac Mail incoming messages stuck in endless loop

    My Mac Mail (Version 7.3) suddenly went crazy on me this morning - when you check for incoming messages, it will show under mail activity that it is checking but the progress bar will fill 80% of the way then stop, with no messages downloaded. And if you go to check for incoming messages again, the total number of messages will double. On and on like that in an endless loop toward infinity. I was able to see that I do not, in fact, have thousands of e-mails waiting for me by clicking account info -> messages on server. Like a dummy I deleted my account (without backing up my sent and drafts, much to my combined shame and dismay) but that didn't fix the problem. I only have one account, a POP3, in my Mac Mail. OSX version is 10.9.4

    First thing to do is never post your actual email address in the forums; you don't want to get lots of spam as a result of spambots harvesting that address.
    Next, login to the web interface of your .mac account and verify how many messages are actually there, both new Unread messages, and already Read messages. Write those numbers down and then logout.
    Quit Mail and go to Home/Library/Mail and remove the mailbox for your IMAP (.mac) account. Then delete any files that start with Envelope Index.
    Restart Mail and wait for it to download your .mac email again and rebuild your Mail index; then check to see if the problem continues.

  • Is there a phone number to call Adobe.  I go around an endless loop pressing their contact info tabs?  Maybe someone at this sight can help. I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Ai

    Is there a phone number to call Adobe.  I go around an endless loop pressing their contact info tabs?  Maybe someone at this sight can help. I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Air.  It was working fine - I was using LR and a message came on the screen that said something like the memory was dangerously low.  I stopped and tried to delete LR files.  I couldn't do it.  I closed the program and tried reopening and got the message that there is not enough memory available to open LR.  I contacted Apple.  They spent a half hour on the phone with me and eventually told me they didn't know how to help. The tech said that LR had gobbled up all the memory and said I should contact Adobe and ask where and how my photo files are stored and to delete them.  I have several back-ups.  Thanks - Arthur

    This sort of error message only comes up for Lightroom when your hard disk is full. Indeed this has nothing to do with internal memory as that will be intelligently be dealt with. If you have a mac Book Air that is not so surprising as the cheapest versions come with very small hard disks and if you shoot raw with any recent camera, you'll fill up your hard disk very quickly and you can probably only store a few months of pictures if you are a typical photographer. So the bottom line is that you need to create some room on your hard disk. You should move some of your originals to an external hard disk. You can also delete some of your backup copies of your catalog file that Lightroom automatically generates every few days and that quickly gobble up hard disk space. So first figure out how full your hard disk is. To see that, go to the apple menu, hit -> About this Mac -> More info->Storage. You should see your internal hard disk on top and you'll find that it is almost entirely full with photos. Now find your Lightroom catalog file using Finder. It is usually in a folder in the Pictures folder in your home directory. You should see a Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat file, a previews file and a folder called backups. Inside the backups folder, you'll find a lot of subfolders. They have names that show the dates the backups were created. If you have backups of your entire hard disk, you can delete these backups when they are older than a few months. I usually only keep the last 4 around. Just drag the folders into the trash can on the dock on the bottom of your screen and empty the trash. This will probably free up enough space that Lightroom will already run again. Now start thinking about where you will want to store older images. If you have a good USB3 or Thunderbolt hard disk that is probably the best option. There is a video here by Adobe that has some instructions on how to do this: Is Your Hard Drive Full? Here’s How to Move Images to Another Drive in Lightroom. « Julieanne Kost's Blog If that doesn't work because you don't have enough hard drive space to run Lightroom yet, here is another set of instructions to move your files using the finder to the other hard disk: How do I move only my photos to another hard drive, leaving the catalog where it is? - The Lightroom Queen. If you follow that, as soon as you confirm all your images are on the new hard disk, you can delete them from your internal one. She is not so clear about that part but if you don't delete the originals that you moved off you don't free up space. You should move the folder structure over to the new hard disk and then reconnect the folders in Lightroom. That should make it refind all your images.
    That said, if you are uncomfortable with the computer in itself, your best bet is to find a local photography club. There is invariably a Lightroom savvy person in there that could help you move your files. That might be your best bet if you are uncomfortable moving these yourself. A general mac savvy person like you would find at an Apple store or so generally will not be able to help you with this except when they are photographers themselves and know Lightroom. You might get lucky with that.

  • Mac Mail "Incoming Messages" seems to be in and endless loop.

    When I open Mac Mail it automatically stars downloading new incoming mail messages. The indicator bar in the bottom left of the mail window indicates incoming messages 1 of 20. It seems to go for ten minutes or so, then increases to 4 of 58, then increases to 10 of 112, then increases to 14 of 197... This continues endlessly until I eventually have to force quit the application. Seems like something is corrupted in one or several of my many mailboxes I monitor with Mac Mail. What can I do to fix this?

  • Icloud email stopped, now in endless loop with icloud

    Help! I have a Macbook pro, running, Mac OSX 10.7.5 and browsing with Safari 6.1.6. Earlier today my account started asking me for my password. So I attempted to go to icloud and it asked for the password it said that I needed to change the password. I did so and then went back to icloud and attempted again. It then told me I needed to change the password... ENDLESS LOOP!  Argghhh... Someone please help!

    I don't know whether this is confined to address book entries; I get the same kind of thing with calendar entries, but only on one of my Macs. I regularly sync an iMac G4 at home, an iMac G5 at work, and a PowerMac G4-450 at my daughter's house, and the PowerMac is the only one that has this problem. All 3 systems are running 10.4.10 and have tons of memory and disk space. All systems are set to sync with .Mac once per hour. I sync Calendar, Address Book, Bookmarks, Keychains, Yojimbo, and MacJournal. The symptoms are:
    * The two iMacs stay in sync with no intervention.
    * The PowerMac does not sync automatically as it is supposed to. When I sync it manually, I always get a list of Sync conflicts.
    * When the Conflict Resolver comes up, it always has some conflicts in calendar or address book entries. I tell it to use .Mac for all similar situations, click OK, and then the Conflict Resolver eats all available CPU time and shows in Activity Monitor as non-responsive till I kill it.
    I have tried using Syncrospector to reset the sync state, do a slow sync, etc. on this machine to no avail. Totally baffled... Anyone else see this or know how to break the deadlock?

    I have a iphone 5 and I can login with my apple id to purchase music. However, when I try to login into icloud using the very same username and password that I use in the apple store it does not work to enter icloud, so what what gives???

    I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

  • Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server - can't login with admin account

    SO....i was having problems setting up network accounts from my mac Mini Server. I took it to the Apple Genius bar one night after work to get some help on why the login screen appears for Other..but could not login into any of the accounts I created.
    They made an appt for me for the next morning since they had a "guy" that could help the next morning.
    When I got there for my second appt..they said they don't support server issues. Only consumer products..I though the server WAS and i WAS a consumer of their products..so..they gave me a number of a consultant..of course..for pay...
    So later that day I was trying some other configurations....the power came out while I was checking a monitor cable..and when I restarted I couldn't login to the master admin account.
    Since mac mini server doesn't have a DVD drive..you have to boot up with their Server DVD from another computer and the Server installs it through airport.
    So I did the boot up via airport from the server install DVD.
    Did the Utility disk repair AND password changed. Got some error about not being to able to login if I don't change the keychains to the account.
    Rebooted the server.
    It didn't work.
    So now stuck with a login window..and NO ACCESS to change anything.
    HELP!!!!

    You can access to system with root account.
    If you didn't enable before, boot from SLS DVD and activate from menu (after choose language).
    After that, reset all the passwords (there is a menu to do that).
    After that exit from installer and reboot.
    At login screen you can try to login with your user and new/blank password.
    If it fails, you have to login with user root and the password you choose before.
    With root user, you can access to all system, be very carefull.
    Now you can create a new user and import all the files (you have to do a little work with permissions)
    I hope i help you!
