Logitech 350 heatset

This headset seems to work very well on PPC Macs running 10.3.9, but on my Intel Mac running 10.4.8 it doesn't. Is there a compatibility issue here, or is there something I can do to make it work?

Hi Hans
No problem with response time, I normally leave subscriptions on for a month or until answered. Not everybody has the time of the early retired.
Starting with the last question - I always take USB port 1 to be the one next to the mic jack
Looking at the Logitech Forums there appears to be mixed results and opinions see here
Also problems with Logitech 250 USB headphones and Tiger 250 problem
I also found this install headphones
and also this diagnostics on Macs
It looks like there is software problem with Mac OS and Logitech from the posts and with what you have discovered about the mute that would seem to confirm it. As it works when plugged into the keyboard (your second post) does that then give you the selection and control through System Preferences that you expect if it were plugged in direct. If it does then that may be the way to use it - not completely satisfactory but the best you can do.
As I said before the DLRecorder could give you problems and in view of these further discoveries I am not suprised.

  • Why is logitech 350 usb headset not recognized by my MBP?

I have a Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 that is not recognized (at all) by my fairly new MBP, which is running OS X Lion 10.7.5. I have run all of the available software updates but the headset it still not recognized as an input or output device (under system preferences). When I plug it into my old PC (Dell Inspiron) it is recognized immediately and works perfectly. Can you please help me with this? I really want to me able to use the headset on my MBP.
I have emailed Logitech several times and they have been unhelpful!

Either read the headset user manual or contact the vendor.  You should also try posting in the Bluetooth forum area.

  • I want to use SKYPE... what mike do I need & what Prefs are needed?

My G4 has a mike input plug ... But the mike I was using on my old Graphite sys will not fit.
Can anyone recommend a mike to use for SKYPE on my machine and please explain what Sys prefs are needed?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim B

You didn't say what kind of G4 you had, but bear in mind some Macs have a mic-level input and others have a line-level input. Those with the latter (eg the latest G5 dual core Macs) don't pick up enough sound from a normal microphone without an amplifier. It's confusing because both inputs use a 3.5 mm headphone style plug and they look identical.
So if you're buying a headset that you might want to use if/when you change Macs, USB is the way to go.
I use the Logitech 350 USB headset and avoid the mic input altogether. It's best to use a headset rather than a mic, because the incoming audio from your caller won't 'feed back' into your microphone. You can use non-usb headsets coupled with Griffin's iMic USB adaptor as well, but that's an expensive solution.
    Hope that helps.

  • Unwanted Noise Recording Voice with GarageBand

Hi everyone, I'm using podcast factory as mic for my podcasts, and GarageBand to record them.
The trouble is, that even shifting a little in my chair is picked up by the mic, and I daren't type on the keyboard or really move at all for fear of putting really heavy noise on the track.
Im not sure what to do about this, as my voice sounds great apart from that!
    Anyone help me out? thx..

    Hello Nick,
Along with the excellent advice already given, here's what I would suggest: If you're using a desktop mic stand, avoid putting it on the same table or desk as your computer. You'd be surprised at how much rumble and hum the computer is creating. Also, use a foam wind cover over the mic.
If you don't have access to a "dead" room get a floor stand for your mic and record in a clothes closet. Yeah, I know it sounds stupid but I tried and got better results than sitting in my den. Rooms with hardwood floors, sliding glass doors and bare walls will affect the quality of your sound.
I'll mention one other thing that worked for me until I could afford better equipment; the Logitech 350 headset mic. It's USB and does a pretty good job of isolating your voice while you record.
    Hope this helps. Good luck!

  • USB Headphones and iTunes incompatible

    Hello all,
I just purchased the Logitech 350 USB (only) headphones for digital voice recognition as I also use Dragon v9.5.
Point becomes when USB headphones are plugged in, iTunes pumps sound out through the built in speakers of my laptop. iTunes is the only program that performs this way. All Windows only software works fine.
Anyone know of a work around for this particular problem?

  • X-Fi Xtreme Audio proble

Yesterday I bought one of these cards because previously I was using a Logitech 350 USB headset where the mic on it stopped working and was making really loud popping and scratching noises, almost as if a fan were blowing on it really hard. I use vent a lot so it would get really bad for my friend's ears. So I decided since I have to buy a new headset, I might as well do it proper and buy a sound card with it. The headset I bought with it is a Plantronics Media 350 just for reference.
When I got home I installed it and started fiddling with the settings, while setting them I would notice the windows noises, the 'beeps' and 'dings' and whatnot sounded funny, like a little scratchy and distorted or something. but then randomly while messing with some settings they would sound normal and work fine again, so I thought nothing of it. Once I got it all set up to how I like it I tested the mic, all seemed to work fine however there was a bit of scratching/interference in the background. (was using windows sound recorder for testing) Wasn't extremely bad so I ignored it. Other than that everything seemed fine.
The next morning I get on to talk with a friend on ventrilo, he said it was doing the same thing again, a lot of loud popping and scratching. So I opened windows sound recorder to see for myself, sure enough it's almost the same exact thing but more 'noise' like instead of like before on the USB headset where that one sounded like loud whipping noises from wind blowing on it. However it's very close. Fiddling with the settings again randomly it'll work for no reason, so I just close the settings and leave it be. But again randomly it will do these things, mic stop working making loud scratching/popping noises, windows sounds getting distorted. Also I noticed when it does work correctly, even the little noise/scratching from recording is gone now, where it was there yesterday morning when everything was working fine. However when something messes up it's loud popping and cracking and you can hardly even hear what you have recorded.
What's the deal here? I've got the latest drivers etc, also I've looked through device manager and made sure all the USB headset stuff was gone, even looking through with show hidden devices/ghosted items from earlier installs.
I have no previous sound card installed on this windows install other than the USB headset and I think whatever integrated sound I have for this motherboard, however not actually using it (disabled in bios).
Now I've read other forums/posts where people are having scratching and popping noises like this, however I'm not sure if the problem I am having is the same, so I thought I'd make my own post.
EDIT: Also forgot to add, playing songs and games, watching movies, running the sound tests in the console all sound fine, no distortion or anything. it just seems to be windows sound and when recording.
    What i've done so far:
Tested my old mic on another computer, it indeed was broken and would make loud whipping and cracking noises.
Tested my new mic on another computer, worked just fine.
Checked to see if sound card is using the same IRQ, it is not.
Just switched pci slots, no difference. also checked pci latency, it is at 32, no idea what this should be so I will leave it alone for now.

  • Audigy 4 Pro vs X-Fi Extrememusic (also can it use Audigy 4s I/O bo

I have both of these new in the box and am debating which I should install. This is primarily for gaming but the fact that the headphone jack is not accessible without a splitter really in the X-fi bothers me. I do have Logitech 350 usb headphones but the sound doesnt seem to be that great compared to my Sennheissers. So is the X-fi that much better than the Audigy 4 Pro. Tech specs mean nothing if the sound quality isnt truly noticeable. SO before I open one I figured I would ask. Also does anyone know if I can use the I/O box from the Audigy for with an A link cable on the X-Fi extreme musc. You would think in theory it would work since its mostly just a connection unit but rather know for sure since I may just open them both and di it that way. I own the Audigy 4 for less than the I/O add on is for the X-fi. Thanks for any help!Chris

  • What is the best headset for audio capture for Captivate 3?

    Hello All,
I have seen a few posts now that talk about issues with
headsets. There has to be people out there that have had success. I
am curious because I need to purchase a new set. Please share your
headset hardware successes per operating system (XP/Vista). List
the manufacturer and model #, and feel free to expand on sound
quality, pros/cons and other information of the set.
    Thank you,
    Tim
Mods if this is a repeat or if it doesn't belong here, please
    let me know...

    Hi Tim
On a "behind the scenes" list, I saw the following
discussion. Perhaps bits of it will help here. (Names removed and
basic snippets related to microphones were captured)
One person suggested a device called the Rode Podcaster.
    Link
    is here
    Another person offered these suggestions:
...I use a Logitech USB microphone. It’s plug and play
easy. I think the one I use is a Clearchat pro. I have been going
through one about every 6-8 months. Avoid any wireless or Bluetooth
mics at all cost as their quality reaches new levels of suckage.
    Link
    is here
And another poster had this to say:
Regarding headsets, it’s nice to buy models that have
the USB dongle as an option, so you still can use it "analog" and
plug into mic jack too. My logitec has this.
    And yet another said this:
I originally got a Logitech ClearChat Comfort, but it started
shorting out after a few podcasts. I now use a Microsoft LifeChat
LX-3000. I have to say that, despite it being a "Microsoft"
product, the quality, audio and otherwise is superior to the
    Logitech.
I recently was gifted a Blue Snowball with the shock mount
and a pop filter. I will be using that for roundtables...
    LifeChat
    link is here
    Blue
    Snowball link is here
Then the conversation went this way:
I have to second the Logitech corded headsets. They’re
not rugged enough to take heavy abuse and are far from studio
quality. But they’re inexpensive and for routine conferencing
(such as with Skype) and recording, their older 350 and new
ClearChat Pro USB models seem to be fine for me.
The adjustable boom mike works quite well for voice
recording, and the comfortable headset is fine for long periods of
music listening over my Mac with surprisingly high-quality sound.
And it’s literally plug ’n’ play without any
    special software.
An advantage to a close boom mike is no feedback. And at
least with the ClearChat Pro, noise cancellation is built in. And
    there is a mute button.
And I agree -- buy a corded USB model.
    Someone else chimed in with:
I really like the plantronics headsets (Logitech too) - I
avoid wireless - but both are inexpensive and the plantronics can
really take a beating and they last a long time.
    Link
    is here
    And someone seconded that with:
This was my experience, too -- I have the Plantronics DSP500
(older model). I’ve used it for over 3 years to do audio
podcasts and lynda.com videos (I did a whole title from home, and
the lynda.com folks said the audio was almost as good as being in a
    soundbooth on location).
    Then was said:
+1 on the Logitech corded USB headsets. I’ve used a
    Logitech 350 for all...
Personally, I use a Microsoft LifeChat headset mic and I like
    the quality it delivers too.
So there you have it. Hopefully you will find some useful
    nuggets there!
    Sincerely... Rick

  • Headset sound problem

I have a Logitech 350 USB headset. Occationally the sound just disappears, so far it has been totally random when it happens. I got this in both Panther & Tiger. If I go into sound preferences and mute & unmute the sound output and then adjust the sound by dragging the slider then it suddenly works again. (I have tried various other combinations of actions & only doing it exactly the way mentioned works.) Anyone know why this happens and how I can stop it. Is it a software problem or is it the headset?

I have Logitech 200 USB headset under Panther with no audio dropout and using no driver. I used it under Tiger a bit, but not as extensively as under Panther.
Try using the headset on a PC or another computer to isolate it from your particular system, then try it on another Mac, maybe at an Apple Store if you don't have another system handy.
I think the 350 is the new Premium model headset with all sorts of fancy things in it so it more than likely came out after Panther and its drivers and maybe even Tigers beta test phase. I don't have the details from Logitech on actual release date. But Apple tends to find something that works and sticks with it, if I recall the kext for the mini's graphic chip is the one for the ATI Radeon 8500 with no new kext used until the Radeon 9700 chip. I am thinking the story with the USB support is the same, the code that worked is is the one still in use. You may just have the 350 using an audio chip thats just a wee bit too much tweaked off the design standard used in the past.

  • Headset Issues: What Do You Use

Ok, so I'm having issues with my headsets.
I just recently purchased a Logitech Precision Gaming Stereo headset:
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2272,CONTENTID=952 3
and while it worked for a day and a half it no longer works (probably due to incapatability with the in-line but don't ask how it worked for a day and a half). I also have a Logitech 350 Headset
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=1001 3
that works occasionally via USB portal but even that is moody and won't power on or be recognized all the time. I'm assuming that comes from the issues that Logitechs and Macs have that I've been reading about.
So, what will work on my computer?
I basically will be using it for online gaming, and mostly through ventrillo. I prefer headsets (not overly bulky) that have a boom mic for noise reduction. If any of you have solutions to my current issue or recommendations for what mic to use I'd absolutely love the input.
    Thanks ahead of time.

Other sennheiser models are out there but this is one that has been tested and reviewed in some of the mac magazines i read that's why i went for this one.

  • Another two usb mic/headset thread

Hi everyone, I have a question that I have almost found the answer to, but I need a little help. I have two logitech 350 usb mic/headsets that I bought (and opened) for podcasting with two people. Now, after 2 hours of fooling around, I got the mics to be recordable in Garageband, but the monitor out is either: not working, working in only 1 headset, or has a noticable delay. I find is very hard to believe that someone out there has not gotten the monitor out along with the mics to work, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you have a good solution, I would love to know how to get this working.
    Thanks!

There is nothing to do you can not choose two usb outputs.
Seeing that you will be sitting next to each other monitoring really shouldn't be to big a issue. You could monitor from two sets of Analog headphones or earbuds by using a 1/8" stereo splitter on your macs audio out.
