Logitech 5.1 Speakers

What do I need in order to connect the logitech z506 5.1 speaker set to an 11,3 imac? I am aware that the z506 probably doesn't have optical in.

Something like THIS.
Yes!! Now, where do you find one of these?? Creative doesn't seem to actually have it in their online store, nor does any of my usual sources (amazon, newegg, etc), and google searches only turn up .. vendors I've never ever heard of and not sure I would order anything from.
Even an ebay search turns up .. barely 1 entry.
Is this thing even available anymore??

  • I have an iMac and cannot add Logitech x-540 speakers. I found really cheap in the classifieds, so would like to make them "go".

As in the header; I have an iMac and cannot add Logitech x-540 speakers.
I found them dirt cheap on kijiji, $40, so want to keep them.
I read a couple different ideas but was wondering if anyone has a definitive best solution, cost-effective?
    Thanks very much,

  • Connecting Ipod nano to Logitech mm50 ipod speakers

I just bought the Logitech mm50 Ipod Speakers and can't hear the sound from my Ipod Nano over the speakers. I have fully charged the battery with the included charger and now want to listen to the music using the included adaptor (which plugs into the wall) to no avail. The Ipod shows the songs are playing, but we can't hear them. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, can you help me solve this one, short of returning it to the store?

    Hi Sabir,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
The Creative speakers should work with the iPod as long as they have a standard headphone jack. I saw some connections from Creative to the iPod, but they were not rated.

  • Connecting sb2 audigy zs digital output to logitech z-5500 speakers

i currently have the 5 year old FPS 2000 cambridge soundworks digital speakers. i currently use the digital out on my augidy 2 zs, with the digital in adapter to connect to the speakers. (http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=30&product=0375)

i read on this boart about the limitations of using this digital connection - would the limitations be exactly the same that i currently have (using the digital out to the fps 2000) or would this be a more limiting configuration?

  • Connecting Logitech 5.1 speakers

I am considering the Logitech Z-5300 system but how to connect. The people at Best Buy are clueless unfortunately. Do I just need to get an optical cable and plug that into the audio out port on the back? I just need some info on this so I don't have to do the trial and error thing. So what will I need to connect everything and not have a big project going on with bigger expense?

  • Using Logitech Speakers With MacBook

I have a new macbook and I've recently inherited an old full set of logitech X-540 speakers from a friend. I haven't set them up yet because I'm afraid that there might be compatibility problems or they might ruin my macbook. Do I have anything to worry about?

An Airport Express would do the job.

  • Cable to connect iPad to external Logitech speakers ?

Hi, I have Logitech mm50 portable speakers for my iPod touch, and am wondering if I can also connect my iPad to them. Since the IPod touch actually sits on the dock mount, which the iPad obviously can't do, I was wondering if there is a suitable cable.
    Interested to hear your replies,
    Thanks,
    SeaDream

My daughter has a pair of Blockbox headphones and as I was trying them out, I realised that the-detachable - cable fitted the headphone sockets on both the iPad and Logitech speaker unit.
I connected them, and was able to hear music from the ipad through the speakers.
Would this solution ( from headphone to headphone output ) be of less audio quality than attaching a cable from the 30-pin iPad socket to the Logitech headphone output ?

  • Problem with Audigy 2ZS and Logitech z5500 speakers

Hi, all. I've had my Audigy 2ZS for a while, and I've been using Creative 4. speakers. I just got the logitech z5500 5. speakers, and I've been trying to get them to work properly with my soundcard, but it's giving me headaches.
The setup: I'm using the 3 direct inputs to go from the sound card to the speakers, so all the various digital issues I've read about *shouldn't* be issues for me.
The problem: When I do my a sound test using the Speaker Settings controller, my rear speakers are reversed, and one of them doesn't play at all! I've confirmed that all my speakers work, and I've used the diagnostic tools that come with the speakers to make sure that the speakers themselves are set up and working correctly.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really frustrated...this seems like it's either a card or software issue, but I'm just not certain how to fix it.
    Thanks!

I had the same problem with two different X-Fi extreme music cards. I fixed it by running the speaker test for individual speakers and changin the speaker settings ad nauseum. 'tis an issue with the jack sensing on the drivers.
If you unplug all the connectors and plug them back in, you'll find that some other channel gets screwed up.

  • Connecting 5.1 desktop speakers directly to optical out on iMAC - how?

    I have Logitech X-540 speakers
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakersaudio/home_pcspeakers/devices/234&cl=us,en
I can only find external sound cards that hook through USB. Is there a way to connect the 3 colored cables (orange, green, black) from the Logitech speakers to some conversion cable or cable converter to connect to optical out on the back of the iMAC? I have read the forums and can't find much aside from connecting your iMAC to a home theater setup. Thanks!

    discbrown wrote:
Is it even possible to do optical out to 3 - 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo minijacks
    on my 5.1 computer speakers?
Nope. The iMac's optical out is an AC-3 encoded digital feed, but your
speakers require six decoded analog signals. You need a 5.1 decoder --
something like FireWave, or a DolbyDigital receiver, or a speaker system
    with a built-in decoder.
