Logitech Deluxe Webcam For Laptops

I just recieved a logitech quickcam deluxe for for my iBook G4 and have been trying to run it with virtually every video chat - primarily skype though, and sometimes ichat. After about 10 seconds of running smooth, the frame will freeze and it won't come back. It will also lock up skype completely, where I can no longer access or quit the program. I've downloaded what I think are the most recent drivers from logitech (quickcam 801), as well as macam, and nothing seems to help. I tested out a friends quickcam which she uses on a pc, and it did the same thing. Is there any solution to this or are logitech products generally problematic with macs? If there isn't a solution, any recommendations for other webcams? I'd love to have the iSight but unfortunately I can't afford it.

Hi Guys
After reading a few forums, this weekend i took a chance and bought the logitech 9000.(The missus wasn't to happy for me to buy something without knowing it was going to work)
On reading the inx and putting in the disc, i started to worry when it didn't recognise the disc. So went for the throat and just plug it in.
Straight away it recognised it, a message from skype told me i could use it.
Using it so far (Skype only)it works well. The picture is good, even in low light conditions. The microphone picks up fantastic from the other end of the room (16ft). No feedback issues, with the speakers on the tv (Philips ambilight) No one beleives the camera and mic are on the tv. And all are impressed with the picture. Grandma and Grandad can now see the Grandkids really well. Even when they go back and play with their toys.
Obviously the software included can't be used cause the disc couldn't be read. Not sure if i can get this from the web, will try that next.
My only other issue so far, and i'm not sure whether its the camera fault. But once i found i had a mic, i tried the speech recognition application but can't get it to work. It shows the mic working but doesn't recognise any commands.
It might be my good old Essex accent!
If anyone has any ideas pls shout.
It did work briefly for one command, but now nothing.
I think Logitech should address this issue of not showing it will work on macs. It's missing potentially a lot of possible business, especially for owners of mac mini's

  • HP Deluxe Webcam not working with Snow Leopard

All links to lists of webcams recommended for Mac OS X seem to be from the pre-Snow Leopard era, including the Mac Compatible Webcams site often recommended on these forums: http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/
The Mac Compatible Webcams site above recommends the HP Deluxe Webcam (KQ246AA#ABA), a UVC compliant model.
However, I can say from long and painful experience that the HP Deluxe Webcam does not work on my Mac Mini (2009 edition) running Mac OS X 10.6.1. I've tried many things to get it working, based on info in these forums and elsewhere, but with no success. Some apps detect and can use its built-in microphone, but none have been able to use the camera itself, including Skype, iChat, Photo Booth, macam, meebo.com, and probably others I can't remember.
If anyone has been able to get the HP Deluxe Webcam to work under Mac OS X 10.6, particularly on a Mac Mini, I'd love to hear about it.
For that matter, there is very little online generally about getting any external usb webcam to work under Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
However, today in a Mac-oriented computer store, before my very eyes the salesperson plugged a Macally IceCam2 webcam fresh out of the box into a USB port on a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard, and the IceCam2 worked perfectly and instantly. It really did plug and play. So unless I get enlightenment from this or other online sources in the next day or 2, I'm going to exchange the HP Deluxe Webcam for a Macally IceCam2. If nothing else, seeing whether it works equally well on my Mac Mini will be a good diagnostic measure.

    K T wrote:

    Why wait....go for it.
Good question. Two reasons: the store where I bought the HP Deluxe Webcam charges a 15% restocking fee on opened returns.
But more significantly, the HP Deluxe Webcam has received very good reviews and user comments online, whereas the Macally IceCam2 has received very mixed reviews, with more bad than good. Several reviewers and users raise the same negatives about the IceCam2: poor light sensitivity, bad colour distortion, and bad audio quality on its built-in microphone. And both webcams cost about the same.
So I've posted this question to a few forums and will wait a couple days to see if anyone can help me get the HP Deluxe Webcam working on my Mac Mini under Snow Leopard. If not, it's IceCam2 for me!

  • Can VC3 allow us to connect 3 webcams to laptop & then stream to Google+ Hangouts On Air?

    Hellllllllp!
We are a non profit, Sena Foundation (www.sena.org), that has been offering free support for dying folks and doing free grief and loss education since 1982. A number of years ago we produced a half hour TV program (Sharing the Seasons) featuring interviews with individuals going through catastrophic loss.
The programs need to be updated and - since the economic collapse, which has cost us over 60% of our funding - there is no money to produce new programs.
Then came - Google+ Hangouts On Air.
We will be able to produce the new series with our own tech volunteers. Free!
Problem. BIG problem. We need to connect 3 webcams (probably Logitech c910 webcams) with usb cables to a laptop, and be able to stream live to On Air. We will edit on the fly, so we need to switch between the three cameras.
    We are using Windows7.
Reading the info for Adobe Visual Communicator 3, it sounds like we should be able to do this.
    Are we right?
What hardware (usb switcher etc?) will we need?
Is there anyone that can give us specific instructions about setting this up?
Do we need to purchase the update too?
Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

    Hello Scotte525
No, I am not using VPN. I have enabled it on the server, but we don'øt need it to connect from outside. On the Macs we just type cmd-K and afp://IP-address and then we are prompte for username and password.
I had hope something similar was available on the Windows 7 computer, but i can't make it work.
And I don't know how to use VPN from the Windows laptop.
If I do what you suggest = Window-key plus R and type like you wrote \\IP-address\ I am told I cannot make a connection.
However!!!!! When I clicked "diagnose this issue" after a while the Windows computer told me that "the print and file sharing ressource (IP-address) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts.
So now I have to start looking at the server, where close to everything is enabled (and the Mac's connect without problems, so what is it that isn't responding? This is very confusing). If you have any hints (or have experince in setting up a Mac OS X server to give access to Windows 7 PC(s) I would be most grateful for your help.
    Kind regards,

  • Best webcam for Mac mini core solo?

What is the best webcam to use for my Mac Mini with an older display - is MacAlly icecam 2 sufficient? and i'm still on 10.4.11. Many thanks for your kind responses.

I've been looking into webcams for my mini and have noticed that some webcams whilst the video works, the sound doesn't. I have an old webcam which my wife uses on our windows box, and I got it working on my mac using the Macam drivers http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/ The only problem was that the microphone wasn't supported, a recurring trend!! From my investigations the Logitech Quick Cam Vision Pro for Mac seems to be the best available, but it is a bit expensive £89.99 here in the UK.

  • Need a webcam for PowerBook G4 running Mac OS 10.4.11 -- help!!!

Hi - i am looking for a webcam for my PowerBook G4 running Mac OS 10.4.11. No Apple service center or other computer store in India has any idea of what camera could work. Logitech sells the QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac, but that is too expensive for me. The ones I liked (from Logitech) are the Webcam C200/C250M/C500/C600 and the QuickCam for Notebooks - though I don't know if any of these is compatible with my G4.
Any suggestions? I'm open to suppliers other than Logitech, as long as it does not cost more than $60.
Please help me ASAP - thanks in advance

  • HD webcam for the Mac

Does anybody have suggestions for a HD webcam for the latest Mac Mini that will actually perform HD video calling (720p) in all applications that support HD video calling (like Skype, Facetime HD, Bria, VidyoDesktop). Please don't post a recommendation for a camera that doesn't support HD in more than the applications that come with the camera.
For instance, I have a Logitech C910 camera that supports HD, but ONLY in the installed Logitech Webcam Software (Logitech VID HD). HD does not work in any other application. I think that to fully support HD calling on the Mac, a camera needs to install it's own driver, and not use the UVC driver that is used by default by most Mac webcams.

Well according to Skype's website, only Skype for Windows supports 720p HD video calling. So no webcam on Mac, be it HD or not will support Skype HD video calling on Mac until Skype supports it on the Mac.
    Culled from Skype.com: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/features/allfeatures/video-call/
*The latest version of Skype offers the clearest, crispest, sharpest quality video calling, and High Definition capability. If everyone on the call has an HD quality webcam, you can see the video in High Definition.*
    *What you’ll need:*
** _The latest version of Skype for Windows_*
    ** An HD quality webcam*
*A dual core processor, and a fast internet connection of 512 kbit/s or more is required.*

  • JMF crashed with Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebook using latest driver.

JMF crashed with Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebook using latest driver
I can't register the webcam in JMF. WinXP crashed with Blue-screen-of-dead.
The crash occurs on installation of JMF when the installer tries to detect my capture devices.
Windows also crashes when i open the JMF Registry Editor and tell it to search for my capture devices.
I use a QuickCam Pro for Notenooks with driver version 11.80.1065.0000 on Windows XP with JMF 2.1.1e.
PS: I can use JMF to connect to other brand's webcam.
    So, how to solve it?

So, how to solve it?JMF apparently doesn't work with that camera...so if you want to install JMF, you should unplug your Logitech cam. If that doesn't work, uninstall it.

In addition to specific devices your options are:-
Any Firewire DV output (6 pin to 6pin) Camcorder
    Any Firewire Web cam
Any USB cam that has Mac drivers and this Utility http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/
The chances are that any USB cam is going to have Windows drivers (if you need them for a Intel)

  • WebCam for Mac Pro

    Hi,
I need some advise as to which web cam people are using outside of the built in options for iMac and the Macbook/Macbook Pro.
I have a 2007 MP and a 23" Cinema Display, and would like to use a web cam with built in microphone (if possible) to work with Skype. For now I use my MBP for video chat/conferencing. However, I would like to use as well the Mac Pro. I am not prepared to pay these outrageous amounts for the original iSight you find on Amazon or Ebay. I am rather looking for a stylish option from a third party vendor.
    Any suggestion is appreciated.

  • WebCams for Mac Pro

I'm looking for a good WebCam for the MacPro, and was wondering what the options were.
Aside from the seductive design, is the iSight way behind modern offerings from LogiTech, and Philips?
I found the Macam site, so should be able to work out which ones are a definite no-go, but wondered what other MP users are Skyping/iChatting with?

Any UVC webcam should work with your 10.5.x MP.
If you consider buying an external iSight sight-unseen from eBay or other internet seller, (try to) get a written guarantee that you can have the iSight examined by your Apple Authorized Service Provider and can have a refund or exchange if the iSight doesn't pass his checks.
Also be aware that, even if the external iSight you are considering is advertised as an NOS (new, old-stock) iSight, understand that it may not be covered by Apple Warranty. If the seller is not providing you service guarantees or warranty, you may be want to check Apple's iSight Service: Frequently Asked Questions, especially if you cannot test the iSight before you buy to be sure it is working.
Moreover, if you buy an external iSight now, verify whether all connectors, cables, and iSight mounts that you need are included. If some items you need are missing but you still want to buy the iSight, this info may be of interest. (Note that Apple no longer offers the "iSight Accessory Kit, Part Number: M9314G/B" that is mentioned there.)
If you needs parts from the discontinued Kit or some part those listed in the iSight Service: Frequently Asked Questions page and cannot locate them in your area, I recently found that the kind people at http://www.synaptech.com will help users obtain those that are still available.

    Hi,
You may find the right part number in the service guide. Go to the Support & Drivers on the top of this page, then enter your laptop model and search it. When the product homepage comes up, go to the User Guides section and find a Maintenance and Service Guide for G56/CQ56 laptops.
You could also go on ebay and search for "webcam G56 laptop"..

  • Will the Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ work with the Playbook 2.0 OS?

Thinking of buying the Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ for my Playbook but before I do I want to make sure it'll work with my Playbook with the new 2.0.  Can anyone help?

    Hi Patrick,
short storry: you can not setup Sun VDI 3 that way.
Long story: Sun VDI 3 takes advantage of the VBox webservice to register, startup, poweroff, etc. VMs. The configuration and startup of the webservice is handled via a VBox installation script/installer that is bundled with Sun VDI 3 (and this installer is available for Solaris 10 only). Furthermore, we require a specific VBox version, because the VBox API has changed incompatible between 2.0.x, 2.1.x, 2.2.x, etc. - Sun VDI 3 currently supports 2.0.8. Thus any VBox VMs created with 2.1 or 2.2 will not run in a Sun VDI 3 environment.
The typical Sun VDI 3 setup requires that the core and VBox parts are installed on a Solaris 10 machine (either both on the same machine or separate ones). For both the core and the vbox parts we provide a corresponding installer available via the Sun VDI 3 download page. Furthermore, you also need another machine for the ZFS/iSCSI storage part (e.g. running OpenSolaris). Please refer to the Sun VDI 3 documentation for all the details and background.
You can still install VBox also on a laptop with your preferred OS and use this setup for example for preparing your VMs that should later be imported and executed in a Sun VDI 3 environment. However, as stated this requires the VBox 2.0.8 version (there is a link on the Sun VDI 3 download page pointing to the compatible VBox versions for other OS).

  • Logitech c270 webcam and OS X

I recently bought a Logitech c270 webcam with the understanding that it would work with my iMac. However the webcam does not seem to be recognised by my iMac.
When I connect the webcam it is not switching on, no green light on the webcam or anything to indicate any activity at all.
I read on the Logitech site that all the software needed was already in OS X. Am I missing something?
    Any help most appreciated.

There are only certain Logitech Webcams that work with Macs and OS X.
According to Logitech the webcam you purchased DOES NOT work with Macs or OS X.
Here's the only Logitech Webcam that Logictech states that works with both Macs and PCs.
    http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/webcams/hd-webcam-c615
I have this webcam and can confirm it works pretty well with Macs, but the Logitech software for Mac is more limited than the same software used on a PC.
Some of its stated functions only work on the PC side and not the Mac side.
