Logitech Harmony remote and Mac won't unpair

Hi, I have a early 2006 MBP and I paired it with my Logitech Harmony remote, today I got an Apple remote so I went to System Preferences->Security, unlocked it and tried to "Unpair" them but it wouldn't let me click on the "Unpair" button. What should I do?

This advice worked great The critical delete is the /private/var/receipts/com/ ones. Great job!

  • How to use Apple TV with Logitech Harmony remote WITHOUT having to unpair?

I have a Logitech Harmony 880 remote which I am trying to set up with my new Apple TV.
Within the Logitech software I set up Apple TV as a MediaCenter PC device.
    I've followed these instructions already.
    http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8480
The Harmony remote works great with the Apple TV if I follow these instructions to unpair the remote EVERY time I want to use it. Once I turn the TV off or switch to another activity, it loses this setting and I have to unpair again when I go back to Apple TV.
I would like to be able to use my Harmony Remote without having to unpair constantly.
I have tried to pair the Apple TV with the Harmony remote. This only served to render my Apple Remote nonfunctional and I still have to unpair every time.
I tried to use the Harmony remote's IR learning mode directly with my Apple Remote instead of using the settings from the database. I still have to unpair every time.
I tried to go into the Apple TV > Settings > General > Remote and have Apple TV learn my remote's IR. There are instructions to hold down each button until a progress bar is full. The first button is the up arrow. The progress bar never activates when I push the up arrow on my Logitech Harmony remote although I know the Apple TV is somewhat recognizing the button press because I hear an auditory beep and see the led light on the front of the Apple TV flash when I push the button. None of the arrow buttons of the Harmony remote would activate the on screen progress bar although some buttons such as the Volume buttons would.
At this point, I resigned myself to having to unpair every time I accessed my Apple TV so I thought I would get smart and program the unpair button to show up as one of the additional buttons on the lcd screen of the Harmony Remote when I start the Apple TV activity. I'm sure by now you can see where this is going. My attempts to outsmart my advanced technological devices failed dismally as it seems the unpair option of the Harmony remote will only function correctly if I first press the Devices button and then choose the Apple TV.
I was wondering if anyone had gotten a Logitech Harmony remote to work successfully with the new Apple TV without having to use the unpair command every time and if so, what did you do to resolve this issue?

I'm having the same issue except that I set up the Apple TV as a Media PC on my Harmony 770 and that gave me the unpair addition button that actually works. Per your idea, I've been using that to gain functionality of my Apple TV 3 from the Harmony remote.
However that's just a workaround. I've gone a step further and learned the raw commands and it still won't work. This makes me think the issue is on the Apple TV refusing to recognize the remote unless you press "unpair" everytime.
Is anyone else having this issue on the current Apple TV 3 firmware?

  • Logitech Harmony One with Mac OS Lion

Recently purchased a new Harmony One remote and have yet to set it up.  I am running a macbook pro that was purchased last summer right after thunderbolt was introduced on the macbook pro's.  I have since upgraded to Lion.
The question is that I have found people having issues with the software logitech provides and that it can only be run if you change the Mac OS to run at 32bit vs 64bit.
Is this bad for the computer to change form 32 to 64?
And if not how do you get it back to 64 from 32 once you have made the change to put he software on the machine?
    Thanks!

Try downloading the DMG file again. It may be corrupt or incomplete.

  • Apple Remote and Mac mini wont pair

My remote works fine with Mac mini and Plex and Sofa Control. But I am unable to pair them. The settings are right and when I press Menu + Fwd nothing happens, no Pairing icon on the screen.
The situation is a frustration since I have an Apple TV besides connected to a second Apple Remote. Since my Mac mini wont pair, the Apple TV remote controls them both.
Does anyone had a similar problem and found a sollution?

Does it pair if the ATV remote is disabled?

  • Logitech headset Skype and Mac Mini Intel

    Hi,
I own a Powerbook G4 and a new Mac Mini Intel Duo Core.
Both machines run the same latest OSX version 10.4.6.
On the Mac Mini I have a problem using Skype with my Logitech Headset 350 (usb). The system does recognize the headset, but for some reason the microphone of the headset is not working. The speakers work fine. I did set the prefrences right in the Skype menu.
But on my Powerbook G4 the headset works perfectly fine.
Could this be an Intel issue? Maybe I a driver (can't find one on the Logitech site)? Anyone any clue?
    Thanks, Fred

I have the same headset and it works fine. First, directly connect it to your mini, don't use the keyboard's USB hub since it can only drive 100mA devices. Second, check that the mic is actually on (the blue LED is constantly on, not flashing).
If it still doesn't work go to System Preferences->Sound->Input then select the "USB Headset" and speak into the mic and watch the input level meter. If necessary adjust the "Input Volume".

  • Logitech Wireless Headset and Mac Book Pro

I recently purchased a Logitech H600 wireless headset. However I cant get my MBP to recognise the nano receiver. I have managed to get a connection between the MBP and the headset using standard bluetooth however the mic on the headset is not working as an input device. Has anyone any suggestions as to what I can do?
    Thanks

    Hello Weaver,
I actually just bought this headset. The headset exposes itself as an A2DP music streaming device when paired to a standard Bluetooth host, but this is an unadvertised feature (There is no Bluetooth logo on this product). Officially, Logitech's dongle exposes itself as a USB Audio Device but actually compresses the audio and sends/receives via A2DP. In this mode, it can do two-way communications but the audio quality sounds much poorer than direct A2DP Bluetooth from the MacBook. But in A2DP mode the microphone doesn't function. It doesn't support mono headset (HFP) profile. Microphone support is only via their proprietary audio mode from the dongle.
So I guess it's just a compromise depending on how you need to operate it. Skype, dongle. Music, direct Bluetooth IMHO.

  • Anyone with a iMac (iSight) and a Harmony remote??

Today I went out an bought a USB IrDA receiver. I installed it on my powerbook and system profiler sees it as a USB/IrDA bus!!!
Now next experiment is to try and see if it will work with Apple remote. I don't own one. But I do own a Harmony 659. If someone owns a harmony remote and can teach it a new device called Frontrow then I can try and see if this setup works. If this works then it could mean a feasible solution for a decent front row mased Home Theater setup.
    ./sherif

I have an early 1.6Ghz iMac G5 running 10.4.11 and have no real problems with Studio. Not that I am pushing it. I intend to buy a new iMac rather than upgrade to Leopard. I've been using Macs since 85 and have always found that a new OS on a 2 years old or more machine just kills it. I'll keep the old one a month or two as well just to make sure everything works out. Then, the joy of Apple, you can sell it and get a silly price on ebay - try selling a 3 year old PC!
PS you'll get a copy of Tiger cheap on ebay now

  • Harmony Remote Package Creation

I am trying to install Harmony Control which is used to program Logitech Harmony remote controls.  This is my first time in using anything like ABS and at first I just tried to install from source.  So first off I downloaded the software and uncompressed it.  Unfortunately there is no ./configure.  I can run make ok but when I run make install I get the following error:
    /usr/bin/install -D --mode=755 harmony /usr/bin/harmony
    make: /usr/bin/install: Command not found
I assume that the directories that Arch uses are different or something is missing?  I haven't bothered trying to do anything with ABS yet because I figured I would at least need to get it to install from source first.
I guess I just don't really know what I am doing.
Should I be able to at least install from source using make install first before using the ABS package procedure?
the files and website for the app is located here:

You're dealing with a slightly-less-than-clever Makefile, which insists on running /usr/bin/install, instead of allowing for the possibility that the install command may be located elsewhere. Use which to find the command, and then patch the Makefile as required (sed would probably do the job either).
Once you've figured it out manually, apply the same changes in your PKGBUILD.

  • Harmony 900 and 10.10.1

I am running 10.10.1 and attempting to reconfigure my Logitech Harmony 900 and I am getting error -
I have already downloaded the lasted Java 8 update 25, as well re-installed the lasted 10.10 Harmony 900 software.  Still not workie.
Has Logitech just not caught up, or is the 900 not getting the support any longer?  Any thoughts are appreciated.

maybe they refer to SOA Suite

Universal Dock and the Logitech Harmony 880 remote?
Does it need to be trained or does can you use the
logitech software to program the remote?
You can program the 880 to work with the Universal Dock with just the logitech software. Just add a Digital Music Server and when asked what Model it is enter "iPod Universal Dock". That's it. For some reason Logitech tech support says it can't be done but me and and a couple of friends have done it without any issues.

  • Logitech harmony 650 remote Select and Menu issues

Programed my Harmony 650 to work with ATV G2 and noticed that you have to hold down the select button for 2-3seconds in order for it to tell ATV to select.
Also the Menu button is way to sensitive, seems if your directed to the top menu level just by clicking the menu button.
    Any reasons why?

I've just set my Harmony 650 up with my ATV (3rd gen) and ran into the same issue. Turns out it's because I had the original ATV remote paired so it was ignoring the commands. To fix this:
-Using the original remote, navigate to Saettings->General->Remotes and select "Unpair Apple Remote"
-Using the harmony (which should now be able to control the ATV, check by navigating up and down) select "Pair Apple Remote"
    Hope this helps someone

  • MacBook Air and Harmony Remote

I recently purchased a Harmony 900 remote and am trying to configure it on my MacBook air. Harmony admits that there are communication problems with their remotes and Snow Leopard Mac.
Their work around is to go to network settings and specifically configure the USB port by changing it to Ethernet Adaptor.
However I cannot do this since the MBA only as a USB Ethernet.
I can post the Link to Harmony's FAQ if it helps.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    thanks

I'm having the same problem with my Air, Harmony 900, and Snow Leopard.
Supposedly Logitech's top Mac tier II support person, guy with a Russian/Eastern European accent, couldn't figure it out and said he was going to speak with the product specialist about it. That was over a month ago and I never heard back from Logitech.
I'm on hold with them right now again. I've already spent several hours trying to troubleshoot the problem.
