    Ok,
Go to the Applications folder and the Utilities one inside that.
    Find the Disk Utility application.
    Open it.
    Click Repair Permissions.

  • Logitech pro 4000 and Ichat

    Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a webcam for my brother cause he doesn't know much about computers and i want to communicate with him via Ichat.
For my self i have everything i need, as to my brother, i'm preparing his Ibook G3 600mhz with everything he needs to talk and see me the next time we separate.
He needs now a webcam for his Ichat so i was thinking of buying the Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 . I heard a lots of good thinks about this webcam..and it's not expensive comparing to the Isight which i have and i think it's the best of all.
What do you think about the Logitec? is there a huge difference beetwen the two?
I know i need the "Ichat usbcam" to make it run with Ichat and i have it already.
Can you tell me more about this?
    I'll apreciate your help.
    Thanks, Ben.

If you don't want to spend the money for an iSight camera, I think you would be better off getting a cheaper FireWire Web cam like the iBot model.
For video conferencing, FireWire cameras seem to work best with Macs, and USB cameras seem to work best with PCs.

  • Logitech Wireless Mouse and MacBook Pro

    Greetings.
I'm thinking about buying a Logitech wireless mouse for my MacBook Pro. The mouse comes with a USB wireless card. Will I need to use this or will the wireless/bluetooth card in the MacBook pick up the mouse by itself?
    Cheers,
    John

I don't understand your problem. Is it that you can't see the arrow or what? You say the button and all work fine so I am stumped by your question. I have problems with my mouse being recognized by the MBP but I just turn off mouse, restart laptop then turn on mouse and it comes back up. If I ever put my MBP to sleep I shut the mouse off first and wait until it says mouse disconnected or whatever it says..I can't recall. Then I put the MBP to sleep. Once I wake it up turn mouse back on and voila..works!! Maybe try pushing the little "Connect" button on the bottom of the mouse that might help. I have never tried that but just a suggestion.
Sorry if this is all confusing.

  • [Solved] Trying to get QuickCam 4000 Pro webcam to work

    Hi all,
I read through the forum and found related issues, but no solution that would work for me, so I just try asiking again.
I have a Logitech QuickCam 4000 Pro USB webcam. When I plug it in, it gets correctly recognized:
    [jan@localhost ~]$ dmesg
usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 6
usb 3-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
pwc Logitech QuickCam 4000 Pro USB webcam detected.
    pwc Registered as /dev/video0.
The module pwc gets loaded and /dev/video0 is created. However, no matter which application I try (I tried kopete, xawtv, gqcam and camstream), I only get a black window. Xawtv and camstream manage to make snapshots, but those are empty, too.
So what is I am doing wrong?
    Thanx for the help,
    Jan
EDIT: Yes, I am in the video group.

weaner wrote:I got my quickcam pro working fairly painlessly in Arch.
You'll need the pwc drivers and you can get them here, I've got version pwc-10.0.11.tar.bz2.
Hmm, the strange thing is that after plugging my webcam without installing anything specific, the correct pwc module was loaded. So is pwc provided by stock kernel as well? If so, why do I need a special package?
Anyway, pwc package is also provided in Arch/Extra, so just writing
    pacman -S pwc
installed me pwc-10.0.11. I guess that's equivalent to what You suggested. Still, the screen is blank.
I'm certain your quickcam only switches on when it is in use so you'll have to use the following to get it work:
    modprobe pwc power_save=1
Alternatively you can add the following line to your /etc/modprobe.conf so it will always use the power_save option.
    options pwc power_save=1
OK, I am not at work right now, I will try this when getting there. However, I am not sure that I have a power save issue. There is a LED on the cam and it switches on every time I try to use it. So the power is on.
EDIT: Tried the suggestion above. The screen is still blank.
Any other ideas worth of try?

  • Logitech Quickcam Messenger no dice

So I have this logitech quickcam messenger, and suprise, its not working.
Anyway, i plug it in (USB), and several modules load, /dev/video0 is created, but other than that, no functionality.
Mostly when i try to run any video app I get (running motion):
[1] Failed to open video device /dev/video0: Device or resource busy
I can run cat /dev/video0 and get a lot of output streaming out, so thats a good sign. But I wonder is the device really busy or is the driver screwed up?
I'm using the quickcam_messenger module that autoloads when i plug it in.
I've also tried qcmessenger and gspca_zc3xx modules to no avail.

Old topic, but case is up to date.
I was struggling with my own older Logitech camera Quickcam Pro. Apparently I bought the wrong one, but finally I set it up with limited functionality.
Of course the problem was the driver. No pwc, no linux-uvc and not even spca5xx. I had to compile new driver module with nw802. Actually mine was nw801, but I just had to edit one file before compilation, apply some patches, insert this module and now it works.
Please do some researches and specify correct driver for your webcam using ProductID. Logitech webcams have varied set of drivers. :-)

    This camera should work with iChat;

  • Logitech Pro 4000 not working with new Imac 24"

Just migrated from a G4 to the new Imac 24"
Cannot get the Logitech Pro 4000 to work with new mac.
    Contacted Logitech and they said
"please note that the QuickCam Pro 4000 currently only supports up to Mac OS X 10.2.6"
However, the cam DID work ,even under 10.4.8 with the old G4...
    Any ideas people..
    Thanks!

Your nwe iMac is Intel based, which is why the old driver failed/ You could try the driver from IOXperts. They do not mention Intel support, but they do list your camera, and have a free trial.

  • Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000

    Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000
This is a great cam, and now supported through the use of the UVC standard, but the most FPS I get out of it is around 5 frames per second....It's capable of up to 30 though.
I tried recording a video through the quicktime player in high definition. It defaulted to 1600x1200, and I still only 5fps. So my guess is that iChat is using the highest resolution setting and scaling it down to 320x240.
    Any ideas?

I just bought this camera from Best Buy for my mother for Christmas.
I tried it out on my PM G5 (which already has an iSight plugged in) and I was BLOWN AWAY by the picture quality as my wife and I tested out the iChat AV video chat features with this and my MacBook's built in iSight.
So next I tried it out on my iBook 900mhz G3. Making sure that I was up to 10.4.11, I plugged it in andI thought everything was good.... at first. I got a picture but it was much smaller and surrounded by a black border. When I initiated a video chat that's where I saw a problem with the webcam connected to a G3 iBook. Whenever there was any motion on the cam we got a lot of pink horizontal distortion bars on screen. After pondering it I firmly believe it has to do with the G3 processor. When I hook it up to my mother's G4 eMac, I will let you guys know if that fixed it. Granted if you think about it, back when iChat AV first came out, in 2003 you could hook up a digital camcorder to a G4 but not a G3 and use that as your web cam.
But to all those out there that maybe are graphics pros with Power Mac G5's or Mac Pro's and need a web cam, I have to recommend this camera! My wife and I are seriously thinking about putting our iSight up on eBay and getting the going rate of $200 for it and replacing it with one of these Pro 9000's. Not a bad investment in 2003 when I bought it though huh?!

  • Help- Using IChat 4.0.5 with Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro w/Mac Pro 10.5.4

Our only child just went away to college, so we bought a Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro because it was supposed to be plug and play. He has a MacBook with the built-in iSight camera. We have a Mac Pro, so had to buy something in order to be able to communicate using visual/audio over iChat. I chose the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro because it was made specifically for Macs and was supposed to be plug and play. It had good ratings, as well, and since the original iSight camera wasn't available anymore...
We tried communicating tonight, and he couldn't see us at all, but could sometimes hear us. We could see him, but not hear him at all. Both of us are on broadband connections. He is using Tiger and we're using Leopard.
So, I tried communicating with a friend using a G5 Mac who had an iSight camera and running Leopard. She was able to see and hear me, but I could only see her, not hear her. We went through all my preference settings, using text messaging, and they all seemed to be fine. She suggested that I call Logitech, which I did.
The guy I spoke with at Logitech had me go through all my settings, and he said they were fine. It appears that the camera is sending video and audio, but I can only receive video, but not audio. I tried using headphones, internal speakers, and external speakers (plugged into the headphone jack). No joy.
    Any eye deers?

    Hi
First have you set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to 500.
    Restart iChat.
    Tony

  • Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX

My parents have an old Logiteck QuickCam, like I use, but the video doesn't always work and then when it does sometimes the picture is very dark.
I bought them a Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX. My folks have a Mac Mini running 10.3.9.
I knew I would have to find a work around. I vaguely remembered doing that when we first set ours up almost 4 years ago. I just checked on my 10.3.9 and cannot find Macam or iUSB Cam on my computer so am not sure if I will need it for them.
I think I downloaded Macam for them. What should I see as the download from macam?
I also downloaded the iUSB Cam.
    The camera did not work.
Found this site, but want to know if you think this will do it?
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20030711094946105
I am not at my parents' house now, but will be later this week. As my father is quite ill it would give me great comfort to be able to iChat with them when I am not there.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
    Margi

    Ok
Margi and I have Text Chatted.
The old camera she has has produces a Dark pic.
The New one need the macam Driver and iUSBCam but still has problems with the drivers in place for the old camera it seems.
We have set the modem to do UPnP.
It is a EmbarQ Zyxel 660 and we have set iChat to us port 443.
We have made sure that System Preferences > Quicktime is set to 1.5Mbps for the streaming.
The Panther Firewall has been tried On, with ports set, and Off.
The macam driver has been removed.
Currently she can get a pic although dark in Preview but for some reason she is not able to connect.
I have a Panther Boot disk and can Video from there to Leopard on my MacBook Pro so I know iChat 2 to iChat 4 works.
I have currently suggested she brings her own camera and see if it produces an better pic next time she visits her dad.
I have also suggested she brings both her own Panther Install Disks and the Camera Install Disk as she can not find her father's
Camera is Enabled in the Video menu and Show Video Status in the View menu.
    MacJanitor has been run.
Computer has been restarted doing PRAM reset.
I have a vague feeling I have missed something
I also feel something is up with either the camera or the OS.

  • Logitech quickcam pro 9000 - it was bad, but I made it worse!

    Hi all,
I just got the logitech quickcam pro 9000, which is made for windows. I plugged it in, unable to install the windows drivers, and it worked, but was very low quality, and was transmitting very few frames per second.
Since I could not find and mac drivers for this version of this camera, I tired installing the drivers for the quickcam pro 4000. Now my camera seems even worse. When I try to bring it up in Skype it takes so long to load I force quit Skype just to get out of the Skype Preferences, and if I do bother to wait, it gives like one frame per 3 or 4 minutes. I tried uninstalling the quickcam pro 4000 drivers, but nothing seems to have changed.
Does anyone know how I can get it back to normal? (Or even better, closer to what this camera actually has potential for as far as quality?)

I pluged it in with out driver and it worked. Both on skype and ichat

  • USB device (Logitech QuickCam Messenger) stopped working (SOLVED)

    Hey there,
I have a logitech quickcam messenger, which used to work perfectly 2 days ago. I updated my system yesterday and this morning, but I tried the cam again only now, and neither cheese nor webcamstudio work anymore (it never worked in skype since I moved from Mint to Arch a few weeks ago, but that was easily (and better) addressed by starting cheese and then using desktop sharing in Skype)
    The webcam is recognized

SOLVED : really stupid problem, but well... I'll completement my post and leave it for anybody who might hit the same problem :
dmesg looked like this when after I started cheese :

[ 3816.917377] gspca: bandwidth not wide enough - trying again
[ 3816.938010] gspca: no transfer endpoint found
The (not so obvious) solution was to connect the webcam directly to the computer and not through a USB hub. I have no idea why it used to work and suddenly stopped, but it works again now.
sorry to take up your time, in case I did.

  • Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro as a Flash webcam?

I need a webcam for my Mac Pro. I'm currently running Leopard but plan to upgrade to Snow Leopard soon. I'm looking at the Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro, but I've read reviews that say it works well in applications like iChat and Skype, but isn't recognized as a webcam by Adobe Flash Player for use on Flash chat websites like tinychat.com and stickam.com. I really need a webcam that is recognized and compatible with Flash Player.
Can anyone with a Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro confirm whether it works through Flash player on sites like tinychat or stickam? If not, can anyone recommend a webcam that works well on a Mac for Flash-driven sites like these?

    Here is the list :
Reference: Logitech Webcams for Macintosh (OSX)
    Question
In order to use a a webcam on your Mac OS X computer, your Logitech camera must be UVC (Universal Video Class) compliant. These standard UVC drivers are provided by the operating system and will provide minimal camera support only. This allows your webcam to operate on your Mac using third party Instant Messenging applications such as Yahoo IM and MSN. There is no support for other applications such as iMovie or Final Cut Pro.
Currently, Logitech does not provide additional webcam software drivers for Macintosh to allow advanced features such as RightLight, RightSound or Video Effects.
For updates on compatibility issues and driver support, please continue to check the Logitech Support Website for updates or click the "Notify me by E-Mail..." button located at the end of this article.
