Logitech Ultra Vision webcam and iMac G5: blurred

I purchased the Logitech Ultra Vision camera because it was recommended to me to work with the driver built into the OS. And indeed it does. However, the output picture quality is poor as the picture is blurred. Poor in quicktime, poor in Skype, better in Photobooth.
Q: Is there anything wrong with the camera or is the driver working poorly with the G5 iMac? I will test it on a windows machine tomorrow in order to eliminate a faulty camera.
Does anybody know any third party driver that would improve he sharpness of the picture? Macam, unfortunately does not work for it yet.

  • Logitech Ultra Vision Works in iChat

Just wanted to report the successful use of a Logitech Ultra Vision webcam in iChat. Clean install of Tiger (10.4.9). Camera recognized in iChat with no drivers or third party software. Integrated microphone works natively through the USB connection.
Camera box had "works with Vista" and the "HD" logo printed on the front.
I would appreciate some feedback from other users- I have reports that the picture being sent is a littel "grayed out" and the colors not very saturated.
Does anyone know of any color adjustment that can be made with the logitech camera setups in iChat.

  • Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro as a Flash webcam?

I need a webcam for my Mac Pro. I'm currently running Leopard but plan to upgrade to Snow Leopard soon. I'm looking at the Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro, but I've read reviews that say it works well in applications like iChat and Skype, but isn't recognized as a webcam by Adobe Flash Player for use on Flash chat websites like tinychat.com and stickam.com. I really need a webcam that is recognized and compatible with Flash Player.
Can anyone with a Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro confirm whether it works through Flash player on sites like tinychat or stickam? If not, can anyone recommend a webcam that works well on a Mac for Flash-driven sites like these?

    Question
In order to use a a webcam on your Mac OS X computer, your Logitech camera must be UVC (Universal Video Class) compliant. These standard UVC drivers are provided by the operating system and will provide minimal camera support only. This allows your webcam to operate on your Mac using third party Instant Messenging applications such as Yahoo IM and MSN. There is no support for other applications such as iMovie or Final Cut Pro.
Currently, Logitech does not provide additional webcam software drivers for Macintosh to allow advanced features such as RightLight, RightSound or Video Effects.

  • Logitech c270 webcam and OS X

I recently bought a Logitech c270 webcam with the understanding that it would work with my iMac. However the webcam does not seem to be recognised by my iMac.
When I connect the webcam it is not switching on, no green light on the webcam or anything to indicate any activity at all.
I read on the Logitech site that all the software needed was already in OS X. Am I missing something?
    Any help most appreciated.

There are only certain Logitech Webcams that work with Macs and OS X.
According to Logitech the webcam you purchased DOES NOT work with Macs or OS X.
Here's the only Logitech Webcam that Logictech states that works with both Macs and PCs.
    http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/webcams/hd-webcam-c615
I have this webcam and can confirm it works pretty well with Macs, but the Logitech software for Mac is more limited than the same software used on a PC.
Some of its stated functions only work on the PC side and not the Mac side.

  • QuickCam Ultra Vision (Righlight 2) vs 10.5

Maybe I can get a suggestion here:
I bought a new (now 6 months) old Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision with Righlight 2. With Tiger 10.4, it worked like a charm out of the box, and, on iChat and Skype it was recognized as a Logitech Camera with no problems (all third party iSight applications also played well with it.)
Enter 10.5 Panther,... iChat no longer recognizes it, on Skype you can only see a frozen video still on the video preferences window. Oddities: On Skype, camera selection went from "Logitech Camera" only, to "Logitech Camera"/"Leopard iSight Video."
If (on Skype) I select "Logitech Camera," frozen video still "feature;" If I select "Leopard iSight Video,"
it will play for a couple seconds before it bombs,... so, no video with QuickCam Ultra Vision and Panther.
Query: has any other owners experience this, and found a fix, or does anybody know of one?. Help will be appreciated.
Minor FYI: camera is directly connected to G5's USB2 port instead of the hub. Incoming video works only on Skype only, the same with two way voice comm.

    Hello BobGuthrie
I do not use a Logitech camera, but because it is a UVC webcam, it should work with your Leopard Mac. I am not so certain about whether the Logitech software might cause problems if you have added or migrated it to your Leopard install. Perhaps some other reader can help you with that info.
If you updated via your Mac's Software Update... feature, you can download and apply the Mac OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update. Be sure to repair permissions before running the updater AND again after the restart that finishes the update.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
If you do not get the help you need here, perhaps you will get better responses from Logitech Support. They even offer telephone or email support and will surely be able to tell you if there are known issues with your system.
If you have not searched or posted in the dedicated Logitech forum, you might find something helpful in threads like this one that include considerable input from other QC Ultra Vision users.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Cheers,

  • Request help for purchasing HD webcams using iMac, OSX &Lion

I am requesting help for purchasing a HD webcam using iMac, OSX &Lion.  Any suggestions would help.  The following is what I've done so far...
I purchased Logitech's HD C910 webcam. It was a mess in requards to freezing up, no zoom and most of all no adjustments in: contrast, hue, color, etc. You're stuck just like a car with no engine or wheels who wants that.  The other Logitech products i.e. Pro 9000 is being discontinued with no software updates in the future  and the same with the other products. Most of the other manufactures do not provide software that is really compatible provideing true HD with full features. I'm willing to spend around $199,00 or so.  Any suggestions?

Well I found my own answer to the webcam concern that I had ....I bought the Logitech C-910...Yes, I know the Logitech states their software is not compatible with OS X ...That's OK, I only use the basics supplied by Logitech to open the cam...Logitech does supply HD settings which are useful.  I like the wide angle which is there to play around. Then I use a software program called "Webcams Settings" found at Apple's App Store. There is a small charge for this download but more than worth it to have a fully functioning system.  The best way to get there is obliviously via your "Dock." Click on the icon and type in "Webcam Settings" in the top right portion of the page and presto....you have all the goodies to play like a professional. i.e.:  zoom, pan, tilt, aperture. etc. of course your webcam camera(s) must have the capability to perform these options in order to use them.
Note I have used my webcam for everything you can imagine and have a 60 foot cord (several cords linked together) to go outside (LOL) 'Just love the goodies with "Webcam Settings".  I take outstanding pics too if I do say so, please.  Funny, I rarely use my cam to Skype but knowing the option is there for me anytime I wish.  I my cam to photograph orchids and misc. even portraits and family play photos with my tripod in hand.   Just because there is a big road block in your path doesn't mean there aren't other avenues. In the corporate life it's called take a negative and make it a positive or else.......and if you have to gripe then you better have an idea on how to turn it around.  -So- I did Logitech and Apple.

  • IMovie 8 doesn't recognize my Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro

I have iMove 8 and just bought a Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro. When I brought up iMovie, it wouldn't recognize the camera. What preference did I forget?

    Try http://www.bensoftware.com/btv/index.html for capture.
Also try requesting more support with http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/ in the forum.
As for quicktime and ibooth, they seem to just make the cam go dark and stay dark until the cam is unplugged and put back in.
This thread gives some hint as to why :
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1749742&start=0&tstart=0
" The Mac OS only has the default Universal Video Drivers (UVD) for most any USB based video camera." The cam does show up as a Logitech device, just very dark with any Apple app.

  • Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro For Mac - Supported in iMovie 09?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro For Mac http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TS665ZM/A works under iMovie 09 for video capture? i.e can you record video directly from the webcam into iMovie 09?
    Thanks

Bearable but sub-optimal workaround is to record with QuickTime Pro and import into iMovie.

  • Webcam and MATLAB

Has anyone tried to use Creative webcams with MATLAB's image acquisition toolbox? I'm using the NX Ultra webcam. I am able to get pictures and videos, but I can't seem to adjust its properties such as zoom, pan, tilt. (I am able to do that with Logitech's webcams, so I know that my method for adjusting them is correct.)
    Why doesn't it work?
    Thanks

    hey Nambiar,
uninstall both webcam and bluetooth drivers from device manager. let windows install its generic drivers.
once done, see if you're able to use it.

  • MyRIO standalone application not working, but works well when connected to PC (NI vision + webcam)

    Hi,
I have a program that can detect motion that occurs in my room using a webcam and will send a picture to my gmail account if motion detected. The program works fine when myRIO is connecting to PC (with the webcam connects to myRIO). However, after I created a standalone application, it's not working. Even the VIs within the first frame of the flat sequence (turn LED on) was not working. The standalone program will work if I disable all of the vision-related VIs. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I got the driver installed and the webcam connected, so that shouldn't be an issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    -Robin

I have a 30 GB version of the same. I also got some external speakers for it, UBL I think they are called. I find there is something very odd about whether you charge it up or not. It seems to over-charge sometimes, and then everything freezes. As for connecting to the PC, no chance. After an initial burst on another machine, and after installing itunes on this computer, there is no recognition of the one by the other at all. Plus freezing and locking up. Plus freezing the PC as well, it is very tedious. So no answers, only commiserations. I think Apple are doing a very poor job on this ! And their help facility seems quite hopeless !

FC/e supports only a few 'standards': DV (as from miniDV cams), HDV (from miniDV devices), AVCHD (from most devices) and with a little trick, described on my website AVCHD-light (720p, as from many compact-stills) ..
    done.
some Flips are supported by iMovie, which you can abuse as a converter tool.
but 'non video standard' (=read 'video' as 'in TV') formats, resolutions and codecs ...
    a) manual conversion = less convenient
    b) loss of 'quality', e.g. when you blow-up tiny 480x320/15fps into video..
FC/e is FC/pros lil' brother.. meant for a more.. adult workflow..
if you like to wrestle with multi-formats, stay with Windows/Magix/..

MacOs=convenience, with a chance of getting restricted

  • Help- Using IChat 4.0.5 with Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro w/Mac Pro 10.5.4

Our only child just went away to college, so we bought a Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro because it was supposed to be plug and play. He has a MacBook with the built-in iSight camera. We have a Mac Pro, so had to buy something in order to be able to communicate using visual/audio over iChat. I chose the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro because it was made specifically for Macs and was supposed to be plug and play. It had good ratings, as well, and since the original iSight camera wasn't available anymore...
We tried communicating tonight, and he couldn't see us at all, but could sometimes hear us. We could see him, but not hear him at all. Both of us are on broadband connections. He is using Tiger and we're using Leopard.
So, I tried communicating with a friend using a G5 Mac who had an iSight camera and running Leopard. She was able to see and hear me, but I could only see her, not hear her. We went through all my preference settings, using text messaging, and they all seemed to be fine. She suggested that I call Logitech, which I did.
The guy I spoke with at Logitech had me go through all my settings, and he said they were fine. It appears that the camera is sending video and audio, but I can only receive video, but not audio. I tried using headphones, internal speakers, and external speakers (plugged into the headphone jack). No joy.
    Any eye deers?

    Hi
First have you set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to 500.
    Restart iChat.
