Logitech USB Microphone Problems

I just got the microphone in today and it seems to work well on my computer. I'm trying to get it to work on GarageBand3 but it doesn't pick up my voice at all. Can anyone please help me?

• Logitech USB microphone does not work with OS 10.4.11

My logitech USB microphone was working fine, at one time. Now it does not function. In the sound prefs setup, it shows a level reading, as if it is hearing the input, but there is no output. I have tried every setting I could find in Audio Midi Setup as well, and nothing seems to work, and the "thru" option is not available. Can somebody help me here?

• Logitech USB Microphone...I'm in a tunnel!!

Okay, my mother owns her own business and is looking to record a podcast so we went out to different stores in the area to purchase a good external microphone. We have a labtech, but it was a little flimsy in consitency. We found a Logitech USB "Desktop" microphone for $30 at a local retail store. We even asked the guy if this should satisfy our need when recording a podcast, and he said that it is probably the best choice.
Long story short. Plug in and play and change a couple of settings and it's ready to go...oops...spoke too soon. After recording in Garageband I play it back, and it sounds like I'm talking out of a tunnel, it has that type of echo. This is supposed to be a noise-cancelling microphone. Am I missing a setting, whats wrong? Plus when I record and playback in iMovie it works and sounds just fine.
Help me please.
Thanks

Hmmm, I had hoped there'd be an obvious missed step, but you did everything correctly. I happen to have the same model mic (AK5370 though mine is from Labtech. Same innards, though, apparently) and just tried it and it sounded fine. Nowhere near as good as a pro mic, of course, but not bad at all for speech. Did you check to make sure no effects are on for the track? An easy way to do this is to create a New Basic Track, this will have no preset effects turned on (many of the presets have effects that may affect things in a way not to your liking).
Try New Basic Track and let us know if it helps.

• Logitech usb keyboard problem

Since I updated from tiger I have a weird problem....
Suddenly my USB cordless keyboard (Logitech cordless desktop ex ex 110) changed a few keys by it's own it's not very annoying but I usually use them.
The given keys are < for º, and my keyboard layout is spanish (ISO) but I have the very same problem if I switch it to spanish or even english.....
Another fact is that this problem doesn't happen at all if i use my macbook integrated keyboard
Any Ideas? ^^

Since there are no Mac drivers for this keyboard/mouse, it's no surprise that it works differently under 10.5 than it did under 10.4. You might be able to change the key functions using the keyboard pane of sys prefs.

Hi,
you may try skipping the system check and check if that may bypass the problem,
When the System Requirements Check window appears, click on the Cancel button while holding the Ctrl+Shift keys. This will bypass the sys. req. check and continue the installation. You may need to do this several times for the installation to proceed.
If that doesn't help I would recomemnd ensuring that you have the latest USB drivers for your PC, please clarify your PC model and I would try pointing you further as possible.

• Cannot hear USB microphone in headphone

I'm using the Logitech USB microphone which works fine for Skype and quicktime recordings. The problem is that I cannot hear the microphone in my headphones which makes it difficult to monitor the recording. The input volume level is working in System Prefs but I cannot hear the sound from the microphone. I also cannot record my side of Skype conversations with Wire Tap Pro since I cannot hear the audio from the USB microphone on the iMac. Any ideas?

• Fails to recognize USB microphone

Just yesterday I was able to use my Logitech USB microphone in the Voice Over mode. I could select it from the pull down menu within the Voice Over window and very easily record scratch narration. Today? Nada. It's not available as a choice in Voice Over. It's like the computer doesn't even see it. I have rebooted the computer and restarted Final Cut, all to no avail. I even plugged the device into the USB port in the back of the computer. Nothing works. Any idea on how I can get this mic to show up again in Voice Over so I can use it?
Thanks,
David

Okay, problem solved. First, thanks so much to everyone who responded to this cunundrum. I think the culprit was downloading software updates yesterday. Because, I just now downloaded another small batch of software updates. As soon as I rebooted after the download installations, I looked in the System Preference Control Panels under Audio. And behold! The computer recognized the USB mic device. When I opened my Final Cut project, the Voice Over window gave me the mic as a input device. It works now just fine. So, that software download stuff can cut both ways. It could be that I needed to download yesterdays batch before I had access to today's batch. But, just availing myself of yesterday's batch appears to have rendered the device unrecognizeable. the latetest update appears to have solved the problem. In any event, thanks again to everyone for trying to bail me out. Hopefully, my problem and this response can help someone else with a similar problem in the future.

• (PCI)Audigy2 - USB Microphone, Robotic & Ti

Here's an overview of my system, to possibly aid in nailing down the problem.
Asus A8N5X
AMD Athlon64 3200+ Venice Core
Thermaltake Silent Purepower 420
Kingston DDR400 ValueRAM, 024MBx2
eVGA GeForce 7800GT
SoundBlaster Audigy2
2xIDE WD 80GB HD
2xSATA HDS 80GB HD
xSony CD/RW
xPanasonic DVD/RW+CD/RW
Logitech USB Mini-Optical Mouse
Logitech USB Microphone
Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard
Alright, let's get to the meat of this. For about six months, my USB microphone, a Logitech SOCOM2 headset, has functioned perfectly on my system, and countless other friends' boxes. It's been reliable, crystal-clear, and accurate in all of my uses, from SAM Broadcaster to Counter-Strike:Source.
Recently however, I've begun to experience issues which at first simply occured when I installed the AC97 audio drivers for my motherboard, mistakenly assuming it would stop the popping and crackling I was receiving through my 5. Surround when using Creative Audio Console's CMSS 'Stereo Surround' option. I don't have to tell you that was a mistake!
Since then, my USB microphone seems to have stopped functioning properly. I went through and completely deleted the Creative drivers, restarted, and then used DriverCleaner Pro to remove all occurences of the old drivers in the registry and in system files. I did the same (or so I thought) for the AC97 drivers. Then I restarted, reinstalled my Creative drivers, and restarted again. Upon restart, my problem was not resolved.
The problem, specifically, is that the recorded audio from my headset sounds robotic, skips, and crackles wildly, all while adding a colorfully high pitch to my voice. Naturally, this level of fidelity is unacceptable in any aspect of audio recording. After searching google and multiple forums for answers that could assist me in the search for the solution to my problem, I have come up empty. On a higher note, the reinstall seems to have eliminated the crackling noises.
Needless to say, I'm rather miffed about this. My internet gaming experience is highly disrupted by the lack of auditory input when dealing with squadmates online. As a final solution, I ran a windows search for AC97 and found results in both the registry, and in C:\Program Files\AC97. At first I was tempted to simply delete the entries and the folder, but I am unsure where to go from here, and would really appreciate any help in clearing up this matter as I do not intend to ruin things further.
In summary, I have the advanced settings under volume control set to record from the microphone, and volume at 60%. In audio properties, I have the USB Audio device seleted for sound input, and the volume at 60%. I have the proper Creative drivers installed. I have conflicting AC97 drivers installed. AC97 Audio is disabled in BIOS. I have attempted using a new USB microphone, with the same results.
Thank you for any help!

It's been a long time, but I'd like to update the situation since I've upgraded my processor to an X2 4200+, and reformatted twice since the problems occurred.
I came down to a couple of conclusions while searching for the problem to my USB woes. It appears that the situation isn't actually connected to the sound card, but more likely to the motherboard and how it was handling certain USB connections. It seems that I had once installed a webcam, which I later disconnected, and had been using the same USB port the webcam had used. My computer for some reason insisted that the webcam was then plugged in there, even though it clearly wasn't. After changing USB ports, it still didn't work. So much for that-- just another problem.
After the reformat, the USB microphones (all three) worked again. I guess I'd presume for now that the problem appears related to the USB itself. If anyone else has some input, please feel free to share. Message Edited by Interim on 0-26-200802:58 AM

• Captivate 4 not detecting audio input from USB Microphone

I'm using a Logitech USB microphone in Captivate 4. When I try to calibrate it, Captivate 4 is not detecting any sound. It is set up properly. In the "audio settings" menu, this microphone is listed in the drop down list. I have selected it as the input device. However, when I try to "calibrate" this microphone, no audio is detectable. Captivate 4 is detecting the device, but not the audio input. I have double checked all the usual suspects--this microphone is selected as the default recording device. It does not use special software or drivers. It is designed to use the drivers in Vista. It works fine with other applications. I have made sure the input level is detectable. I've checked to make sure it is not muted. I have other microphones (non-USB cheapies) that work fine, but I can't get this specific USB microphone to work.
Suggestions?

• USB Microphone turns off

Have a Logitech USB microphone for Skype use. The microphone "turns off" after a short period of non-activity, the only way to re-enable it is to disconnect then reconnect the usb connector. Problematic if I get a skype call from someone.
Any ideas as to a fix for this?

I went to uninstall it and noticed it said "Microsoft Mouse" Odd since I didn't uninstall drivers from system before installing new mobo. Windows just didn't see it correctly when coming back up after installation. That was screwing up my entire USB bus because it was handling the logitech wrong. I bet there was some error that was spamming the bus and causing it to reset. I can already tell this fixed it.
In all likelihood it didn't happen with the DFI because that's the mobo that was in it when I installed the Mx518.
Thx for all your help.
Re-installing Logitech's Setpoint solved it. It was also detecting my G15 incorrectly before reinstalling setpoint. It listed it as generic keyboard. Weird since the Keyboard Profiler was still working and the G keys all worked. The +/- for mouse speed also worked before reinstall. What a relief... This last thing just took my system to 100% and I'm uber happy. As usual this was PeBKaC.

• Logitech USB headphones - microphone works but not sound output

Seems like the sound output to my Logitech USB headphone has stopped. The microphone inputs but the sound output is blocked. Could be technical issue with the set but was wondering of anyone else has this problem after the last update to 10.14.0

ChickInVici,

• Is there a known problem with USB microphones?

Background
OS X 10.5.8
Premiere Elements 9
Hardware Intel iMac
I use a USB mic with all my audio applications.
However, it appears that PrE doesn't see the mic for narration. I've set up the audio hardware preferences to use the Default System Input/Output but no recognition of the mic.
The mic works fine on all my other applications and is selected in system preferences to be the input of choice, and tests indicate it is recognized.
I changed the audio hardware selection in PrE to use the built in mic and it works as expected.
So I'm led to wonder if there is a problem with using a USB mic?
The documentation, referencing windows only, mentions plugging in a microphone to the microphone socket on the PC, not mention of a USB mic?
Any pointers to where I might find a solution?
Thanks

Thanks Neale, in particular for posting the images:

I've tried all the selections. The built in system works but my external mic, when selected in system preferences as the default, is not recognized.

• USB speaker used to solve "No Audio Device is Installed" problem...USB microphone ok too?

After trying all of the solutions that have been offered for this extremely common problem of losing sound, I purchased USB powered speakers...and they work great.
Today I purchased a USB microphone and I can't seem to get that to work properly. Should this microphone work without the internal sound working properly?

Correct, microphone it totaly seperate and doesn't depend on sound.
Check your own devices or Sound panel window and under the Recording tab make sure your microphone is listed and make sure it's the default Recording device. You can rightclick it and set as default.

• USB audio problems with 2013 iMac

I'm having a strange audio problem with USB microphones and headsets. The issue with my Logitech H650e is shown in this screencast I recorded. In the first part of the screencast, I am not speaking into the mic—yet you can see the levels fluctuating as if there is static playing (not in a natural pattern that you'd see when someone is speaking). In the next part of the video I demonstrate that selecting the built-in iMac mic for input, and then re-selecting the Logitech headset temporarily solves the problem. You can see the input start to fluctuate normally as it should when I am speaking. But at 0:31 in the screencast, you can see the input levels freeze and stop registering anything. I continued to speak until the end of the screencast, but no input was detected. For this screencast, I was on a Go To Webinar call, but the problem occurs regardless of whether I'm using Skype, Go To Webinar, GarageBand or any other software.
The problem with my Blue Yeti USB microphone is also different. In that case, the input does not freeze as it does with the Logitech headset. The levels appear as you would expect, and it seems to work. However, the person on the other end can hear static in the background, even though I don't hear it in my own headphones. I learned this because I just tried to do a Skype interview with the Blue Yeti, and the interviewer told me they could hear static. We closed Skype and called each other back twice, but the problem persisted. Then, suspecting the problem was related to what I described above with the Logitech, I unplugged the Yeti and then plugged it into my Macbook Air 2013 (also running Mavericks). Lo and behold the static completely disappeared.
My Griffin iMic and Audio Technica lavalier mic (attached to the iMic) behaves similarly to the Yeti, except in this case I can hear the static when I speak with my monitoring headphones. The input works but I get a lot of cracking and static in the background. This was confirmed by calling the Skype Test Call number and recording a message, which is then played back.
Here are the facts:
All 3 of my USB audio microphones/headsets do not work with my 2013 iMac running Mavericks
All 3 of these microphones/headsets worked fine with my 2008 Mac Pro running Mountain Lion
All 3 of these microphones/headsets work fine with my 2013 Macbook Air running Mavericks
In this other thread, several people are reporting similar issues with the iMac 2013 and Mavericks. At least two people did not have the issue when the iMac 2013 was running Mountain Lion. This of course suggests the issue is the combination of the iMac 2013 and Mavericks.

• Logitech USB headset

We had a logitech USB headset for Dragon and it all worked fine.
Headset wires broke and so I replaced it with the closest one I could find (ML-341) to what we had.
So let's forget Dragon and just look at the MacBook Air.
When I am in System Preferences -> Sound it recognizes
a) the internal microphone,
b) the USB headset that came with Dragon (USB Ear - Microphone) and
c) the USB Logitech headset (Logitech USB Headset)
BUT as I switch amng all three in SOUNDS the Logtech doesn't work. (no blue input levels moving)
Volume is up and mute is off.
I don't have to box but I am certain it is a Mac compatible Logitech as that is what I went to buy.
I have looked at the utility MDDI? but don't see anything I should be changing there either.
What's up?

Hi
I have the Logitech Headset Premium Stereo 350 USB. Since the 10.4.6 upgrade (I think) it has not been working as it should, but it does still work. You need to go into System Preference > Sound > Output, have the headset selected as the output device, and then click the mute button on and off. Have the headset on while you do this and play with the volume control at the same time so you will hear when the sound does start to come from the headset. I have no idea why Logitech have not sorted this problem out yet, but the headset does work fine if you are prepared to fiddle around every time you use it.
While we are here I want to recommend SoundSource for quickly changing audio inputs and outputs. It doesn't help much with the current problem, however.
Edit: BTW on my headset, the flashing blue light is the mute indicator for the microphone. Pressing the centre button toggles it on and off.
