OK, this is my first time doing this. Well, i'm doing a logo and right now i'm basically having a few problems, mainly dealing with actually carrying out the process of making my sketch some what of a reality on the computer. Heres the problem I have a great idea for my logo its all sketched on paper and looks really nice and stuff, my concept is set, but im having problems drawing it in illustrator, I dont have a tablet so im forced to use my mouse. One of the main component of my logo are three stick figures joined together( it may sound kinda too much for a logo, but thats what i want), what I want to know is what would be the best tool to use to draw my stick figure, should i use a brush, the pencil tool, the pen tool, the blob brush or the line segment? im really not too sure what to use, by the way im completely new to illustrator in general, i downloaded a trial a few days ago but i have been doing a few tutorials. I was experimenting with brushes, so one more thing I would like to know is what would be the best brush style to give my stick people a sort of professional and finished look but still have a sort of underplayed sketch. You may scan the drawn logo File>Place it in the bottom Layer and lock it, and then trace the strokes with the Pen Tool, as mentioned, using a small/moderate Stroke Weight. You may reduce the transparency of the new strokes (Window>Transparency (panel) setting Opacity < 100, when you have placed the first Anchor Point); this will allow you to see through it for greater accuracy. You may (create and) apply brushes later for enhanced appearance.
Click for straight segments and corners, ClickDrag for curved segments, also hold Shift for specific angles (such as horizontal/vertical); in the latter case, do not let go until you are done with each Anchor Points. Among the obvious positions for Anchor Points are transitions between curved and straight segments, positions where the direction is known (such as horizontal/vertical), and positions on either side of points where the curvature switches.
The initial click will determine the (initial) position of the current Anchor Point, and you may adjust the curvature by moving the mouse and thereby the Handles, and you may adjust the position of the Anchor Points by pressing the Space key while moving the mouse.
Afterwards, and after deselecting the object, you may adjust each Anchor Point and each Handle (set) by ClickHolding with the Direct Selection Tool (for Handle, first select the Anchor Point); initially, you can select the Anchor Point by ClickDragging over it, avoiding the others.

Recovery mode and apple logo/blue screen flashing

Hello, guys.
I'm very desperate here at the moment.
I tried to upload my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 so I could start using iCloud (I have no back up of my photos yet!!!)
It didn't work and my phone went to recovery mode. After some research, I found some programmes to exit phone from recovery mode.
The thing is even when apparently it goes out of recovery mode, the Apple logo keeps on showing in the screen for a while and then a completely blue screen flashes. And it starts again.
I put my phone back to what I think is the recovery mode (screen asking to connect to iTunes).
Anyone can please help me with that? I'm quite desperate at the moment, feels like I'm either going to lose all my photos or (worst case), my phone.

I'm afraid your data is gone by now already. To get at least the phone working again, visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store to get the phone checked.

Blue screen on Z10 during start up

Hi all,
I'm experiencing some issues with my sister's Z10. What I think has happened is that I was updating OS when it ran out of battery (yeah I know, but some friend took the charger to charge her phone and I didn't notice it...), and now the phone starts (Blackberry logo, blue logo loading) but shows a blue wallpaper without any apps on it, no actions possible.
So I've tried to wipe it through my computer, as it's recognizing the phone when I'm plugging it, but I'm always getting an error message stating that the phone steup is not finished and that I need to disconnect it to finish the setup. **bleep**, that's what I'm trying to do smartass! I've tried it through the BB link software and throufh internet explorer but I'm always getting error messages and I don't know what else I could do.
To make things easier the phone was bought in Dominic Republic and I'm french trying to unsimlock my phone and my sister's (my works fine, despite some unwanted reboots).

I would try one of the autoloaders that has been leaked for upgrading the OS on the Z10.
The process is simple. Download the OS and unzip it using 7zip or similar. I think it downloads in a .rar format.
Close Link and plug in the device. Then run the .exe file that was extracted using the previous step. It should take about 5 minutes to load the OS.

Translucent logo sees white details take on colour of logo base.

Hi.
How should vector artwork be drawn in Freehand so that white details sitting over a blue base are still readable when alpha of e.g. 50% is applied in Flash 8 ?
In Freehand 9 I created a logo. Logo has an rgb mix blue base rectangle and rgb white drawn shapes on top. I also drew over the text and gave it the rgb blue as a fill with line none. That sits on top of one of the white shapes.
Layer palette:-
Blue traced text
White shapes
Background blue box
Save the file, then import to library in Flash 8
Looks fine in library preview and when dragged to stage.
Apply alpha 50% and the white details go faint leaving the blue box visible but fainter,
What should happen, e.g. if it was a raster image, is that the logo would still retain the white details, the whole thing in unison would go fainter, the logo when over white would still have white details. It should be a readable faint logo.
Secondly those letters I drew from scratch are still a strong blue ! This is nuts ! Now PC's dont have a brain so it cannot be thinking hey these look like letters so lets make out they are truetype or postscript and not let the alpha value affect them ! They are simply drawn shapes like all the other bits, but filled with blue, so why dont they go faint like the blue background. Perhaps they have gone faint but then its laying these over the faint ble background and as such they get stronger in colour.
I tried making all the artwork as one layer, using xtra>path operations>punch, punching out the white details into the blue base, like a pastry shape cutter ! It then didn't see the first character and still didnt when alpha was made 50%. I presume Flash doesnt recognise freehand punch command. Both progs made by Macromedia !
Import to library has flatten layers checked, but I also put all the characters onto one layer in freehand just to test and still no better !
This logo forms a watermark pattern with many of them across a large artwork, I presume vector is more friendly for file size and speed than a raster image.
I converted it to psd and applied opacity in photoshop then imported the psd file, it thought about it for a while then in it came, and with the logo looking translucent with white details viewable, translucent and showing through the full colour of whatever the logo was laid over, as opposed to showing through the logo blue ! This though won't run as quick given the file size, or will it ?
I did try importing a 100% opaque psd file but flash cant apply alpha to it !
I need to know though why a simple white and blue freehand drawn logo sees the white vanish and the blue not do so.

I am trying to upgrade my graphics card. I recently purchased a Zotac GeForce GTX 760 AMP Edition 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 DVI HDMI DisplayPort SLI Ready Graphics ... . I also installed the above mentioned power supply. I installed both and when I went to start the computer, I got the HP logo blue screen with a message saying to press ESC key for start up menu, however the keyboard was unresponsive. The hp logo screen changed but that was about it. Using the new card, I could get to the first boot screen, and to the hp logo, but then it would stay stuck on the hp logo. Also if I tried to press f10, ctrl + f or any key, I would just get a black screen and nothing would happen. I've read that this seems to be a common problem with the HPE models and the 700 series cards and have seen no solution. I have already arranged to return the card figuring it's either defective or not compatible with my system.
So after all that, I've tried for the last hour to get a list of compatible graphics cards to upgrade my system, and have not found such a list. I've found lists in the forums for other similar models, but I want to be absolutly sure before I make another purchase and have to go through all this trouble.
Any help would be appreciated and if more info is needed don't hesitate to let me know.

There are graphics card solutions posted on this forum. They may be hard ro find but they are psoted. It's good that you checked the BIOS settings in the posted HP links as sometimes they get changed thinking that this will work better. However, in the case for Windows 7 it's just the opposite.
You issue is not a driver problem. Check with the graphics card manufacturer for a remedy. If that particular card is video BIOS enabled for UEFI then you are stuck. You can either return the card or install Windows 8 in UEFI mode.
Another choice would be to try one of the below video cards that run in legacy or UEFI mode.

Can't update macbook 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard 10.6.3

Instalation stops just after it starts. Is there any ideas what to do? I have tried everything that I could find in forums but still does not want to upgrade. It spins and after couple of tries it ejects itself.

Ok, just got off the phone. So far it seems that I was able to to get it working (As soon as I typed that, My screen saver turned on, and I though my computer failed again. Ahh!)
Anyway, What they had me do was this:
-Turn off computer.
-Turn on computer, and hold down the 'Option' key.
-Keep holding until you see the Icon of your drive.
-Insert disk.
-A CD icon should pop up. Click it and press enter(return) on your keyboard.
It should then Turn the screen white with the apple logo, blue, and then bring you to the installing menu. The woman at tech support said that a language section should pop up, but it didn't for me. We assumed that it just read the settings from my old OS. It should then start the download. So far I'm more than halfway done with the download, farther than I have gotten before, so thats a plus.

I am planning to buy a Lenovo L540 - Core i5 - 1080 FHD screen from Lenovo Driect in Japan.I dont know if I will get the slim version which has the slim type eDP full HD display or the big version.. I found out there were 2 versions from websites.. Please someone let me know what type of LCD is there in the FHD version.. I want to switch it for an IPS panel.. if its not a slim type then it wont be possible..

Hi Jonas, Thank you for the response.I had actually bought it manufacture refurbished from a store after a lot of researching and hoping, believing that it might work... but it did not hence I have now sold it... I also have returned the IPS Panel to the online shop... however before returning I did some tests and found that when I connected the eDP port to the IPS panel and turned on the system , I could see the BIOS boot (Thinkpad logo) and the windows logo (blue square thingy with a black cross), but after that all I got is a black screen, so I left the laptop running, plugged out the eDP cable and put it into the original display just to see it come back to life with the home screen. I think this has something to do with windows or something else like TN being normally white and IPS being normally black etc, but I could not test any further. I hope this experiment of mine proves useful to someone else trying the same thing. Now I have sold everything and ordered a new Thinkpad T550 with a 15.5 3K IPS screen, Core i5-5200U, nVidia GeForce 940M, 8GB DDR3L, 1TB HDD, 24 GB SSD, backlit US layout keyboard. N97 Firmware V20 THINK TWICE BEFORE UPDATE

I just upgraded successfully on my N97-3 NAM. After the update my N97 rebooted and it showed Nokia logo and 10 seconds later it came to the startup ringtone (connecting 2 people logo). It was slow but it still managed to the Home screen.
Later, because the phone was lagging a bit I decided to reboot (press the key on top and switch off).
HOWEVER WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT ON, IT HANG AT THE NOKA LOGO (BLUE NOKIA TEXT) AND NEVER WENT TO THE STARTUP RING TONE (CONNECTING TO HANDS), MAKING MY PHONE TOTALLY UNSUABLE.
I tried to remove the battery and tried again but still no go. Now I need to use my backup phone. There's no way to turn my phone on again.
I'm not sure I'm the only person who gets this. So everyone please think carefully before upgrading your phone.
Just some heads up.

What did you use to do your backup? The first time I ran a backup on my initial N97 (that one went wrong so it got returned) none of my applications got restored despite being told there were put back on. Did you do the 7370 reset or the 'big one' and did everything restore OK for you?

CS2 Imported PDF Printdown Issue

When a PDF is imported into an InDesign CS3 document and printed there are no issues at all.
However when the same is done using CS2, if there is a Vectored Artwork within the PDF the black copy turns to 100% Cyan.
The simple fix would be to use CS3 but the printer in question only has CS2 and therefore printed a black logo blue.
Is this a known issue with InDesign CS2 and is it acknowledged by Adobe?

I beg to differ. While it's not an imposition tool "per se," InDesign is a LOT better at handling placed PDFs than QuarkXPress. Placing a PDF of a fractional ad in a layout is, after all, really no different than imposition a number of "pages" together. Both should work.
In answer to the original question, this is not, AFAIK, a general problem. I'm guessing that it has something to do either with the PDF itself, or with the printer's system. If you'd like to send me the file, I'll try placing it in CS2, and see what prints. (Click my name for the address.)

mm! very simple just try to press f8 and go to safe mode or last good config if your pc boots it could be a driver problem, so remove it
if not try to test you bios config reset to bios normal defaults and then test your ram pci cards so on.

Files on my server are being renamed randomly

About three months ago I started working on a Power PC G5. Ever since some of my files and folders on my company's server have been randomly renamed. For example: I will have a file that was named "red-blue logo.eps" and it is now named "MLF767~k.eps". It still has the appropriate Adobe Illustrator icon. There are cases were the file "kind" is listed as "Unix Executable File"
I noticed that in the pasted some of the files were labeled as follows: "logo.blue.eps" or "logo/blue.eps". I have been told in the past that putting "." and "/" in file names can cause problems.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP

My bad. I misread and thought that the server was running on the G5.
It sounds like a Windows server of some sort that is truncating your long file names to an 8 character name. You should talk to the IT person about that, but it may be simply a matter of you using 8 characters or less in your file name.

IMac purchased in July 2010 freezes on startup

iMac goes to blue screen the to an apple screensaver. Starts up in safe mode and from backup. Have repaired permissions and hard drive repair found no problems.
27" iMac running OS X 10.6.7 with a 2.8GHz intel core i7.
It worked until my wife hit restart. I think it was the first time since an update.
Any ideas? We need it running very soon to get a program don for the local HS.

Ran the extended test twice after the short one and it didn't find any problems. Had to get some rest to come here for my early morning chemo so I haven't had time to see if anything is working. Will try this afternoon.
My wife said that this started when a game froze the computer and she held the power button down to stop it and then restarted it. She thinks she got the bong, spinning wheel with Apple logo, blue screen for a long time, then the purple night sky. If we just let it sit the screen still goes to sleep.

Banding of gradients/graphics in CS3

I'm using a G5 Mac OS X (10.4.11) with Photoshop CS3 installed. Program was running fine, then I noticed graphics, especially gradients had severe banding. It also appears in the Photoshop CS3 logo (blue box) that displays when the app is launched. I also have Photoshop CS2 on my station and all graphics look perfect. All other CS3 apps look good. Any idea what this could be?

I have had good luck with having screens replaced under the on-site warranty. The procedure took around an hour on my T420, and I think there may have been some mumbling about how he had to reuse the tape for the wireless antennas. I could be getting that confused with the T400, because I had them both replaced around the same time.
The issue you might have if you try to have it replaced with the on-site warranty is they want to be able to isolate the broken part on the phone before shipping out the replacement parts. I have no idea if what you are seeing is the screen or one of the other components, and the tech on the phone may not either. If they can't isolate, then they often ask you to ship it in.
Are you only getting the Chrome banding with grey, or does it occur with other solid colors?

How to change the angle into front perspective using smart object vectors

Hello, I need this answered so i could succesfully do my school project.
I was using a logo mock up vector(smart object file) for my illustration and was wondering if there is any way to present it in front perspective?
This is just a sample image. I had created a brand new illustration not just a logo but the effect is same.
As you can see the wood engraved logo is presented in an angle. Could i change the position of this sample logo into a front view or i have to make this effect myself from scratch?

On your example i used the Perspective Crop Tool
1. Draw out the perspective crop and move the corner handles to line up with the inside corners of the logo
(blue circles)
2. Then drag out the side handles just outside the image
3. Press the checkmark button to complete the crop
You said vector smart object.
Is that logo something you created in illustrator?

MSI 645 Combo on 8X FX5200 AGP

Hi does this MOBO (MSI 645 COmbo) Supoort Geforce FX5200 8X AGP?
It start normally when there's no driver installed on WIN XP. Then I download the latest NVIDIA driver from Nvidia website & installed it then the my PC Hang during bootup. I don't even seen the Starting WIn XP image, I mean the black screen with a Win XP Logo & Blue Line moving.
This is my spec

MSI 645 Combo
512 Kingston PC2700
MSI Geforce MX440SE / Asus V9520 Magic/T (FX5200) 128MB
400W PowerMax PSU
Intel Network Card

Is there any incompatible of my hardware or just the Mobo doesn't support it?

I have a similar problem, in that there is startup screen corruption, and graphics corruption. Granted I'm running WIN98SE so at least it starts. Several restarts and the occasional driver reload get it going, after which it's fine.
I've looked at Ram timings in safe and normal, AGP APERTURE (128), Oveclocking (none used) using the latest 52.16 drivers after using detonator destroyer to get all the sticky bits of code from Nvidiot out, and eventually replaced the card with the previous fan cooled XFX fan cooled 440MX ge4. It runs fine now.
The removed non fan cooled PV-T18K-QTHG GF4 440MX AGP8X 64MB DDR TV card is now in my P3/500 on a Soyo 6BA+ Mobo........where it does the same blessed thing!!!!
Possibly not an MSI problem, but an old driver removal/ conflict issue.
I've asked MSI tech support, and XFX tech support for a clue, but no replies yet.
I've also asked CCL computers, who supply all me bits for a clue. Just sent tonight.
If I get an answer, I'll post.
