Logo in OBIEE

Hi,
I have a problem inserting logo in my reports,
I have a logo that is 12 kb in size.. I place it in this directory
C:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10 \images
the url for the logo is FMAP:images/mylogo.jpg
But I still can't get the image to display, only red X.
Is there any other requirement i need to fulfill to place a logo in my report?

Where to change the hyperlink of the logo in OBIEE 11g?

In OBIEE 11g the Logo in the upper-left corner does not have an AHREF reference or tag.
The only way to change this is to modify the actually header template XML file for the header.
This should be easy enough to find.

Customize the OBIEE Style and Skins Default oracle logo

Hi,
Guys I am trying to replace the default oracle logo with my company logon obiee 11g. By doing the following steps.
/u01/middleware/Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/web/app/res/sk_blafp/b_mozilla_4
/u01/middleware/Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/web/app/res/sk_blafp/login
Renamed the original file as "oracle_logo.png-old"
and deployed my file oracle_logo.png
Restarted the Presentation service and also tried by restarting the OBI server services, but no luck.

My Logo for login screen and after logo page as changes, but the size of logo is very small tried to increase but it is not happening.
Also I was am trying to change the text which appears next to logo, Business Intelligence. In this case the text on the logon screen gets changes as per my changes done. But the text on the page after we get logged on don't changes. It still shows Report Center.

Hi Arvnd,
The logos for BI Publisher are not in the same location then Answers and Dashboards.(s_oracle, sk_oracle)
In your case the logo is:
OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\xmlpserver\xmlpserver\xdo\images\oracle.gif
You can replace the image restart your application server and normaly you will see your new logo

How to change the color of Menu links in obiee

Does anyone knows how to change the colors of Menu links in obiee. With menu I mean the menu links default right top (Search, homepage, Catalogus, Dashboards, new, Open). This should be set in skin and style files, not? I searched a lot. I could not find It. It is now Oracle blue, we want to change this.

You have to customize portal banner and portal content CSS files as needed in OBIEE server.
below links will guide u but will will not tell you exactly but your req can be done by customizing portal content and portal banner CSS files. try to identify the exact code using firebug in mozilla.

Issue with OBIEE 11g(11.1.3) Installation

I have installed OBIEE 11g last evening. I was able to connect to the dashboard and run a simple report also – all before shut down. Now when I try to access OBIEE 11g thru port :9704 after starting the BI services, I am getting the following error.
“Error 404–Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol — HTTP/1.1:
10.4.5 404 Not Found
My Weblogic server is working fine but im not able to access EM or ANALYTICS.
When I click Programs > OBI > Start BI Services it opens 3 wndows and says weblogic server is started and Im able to login to Weblogic server via “http://localhost:7001/console”.
When i start my machine the following services are started automatically:
1) Oracle WebLogic node Manager
2) OracleDBConsole
3) Oracle Service
4) OracleOraDB11g_home2_TNSListener
The following services are not started:
1) OracleDB11g_home2_ClrAgent
2) OracleJobScheduler
3) Oracle Process Manager(instance1)
4) Oracle VSS Writer Service
can you pls let me know how to start the Weblogic Admin Server?
I have even tried to reinstall and when the installation completes im able to login to “EM”, “weblogic” and “Analytics” also, but once i restart my machine im not able to login to “Analytics” as well as to “EM”.
The process im following is:
When i start the BI Services from Start->Programs->Oracle Business Intelligence->Start BI Services, i get a popup window where it asks for weglogic user and password, then i have entered the user as “weblogic” and has give the password entered at the time of installation, then 2 popups opens and it runs several java files, then im able to login to weblogic but no luck with “em” or “analytics”.
If i try to login to weblogic and try to start the “bi.em”, “biadminservices” i get java error message.
Even i dont get Oracle Logo on the Admin tool also.
Can you pls let me know the repository password also as i have tried with “Admin123? but no luck.
Every time when i do the installation im able to access all the services for the first time but once i restart the machine then only weblogic will be working.
I have installed OBIEE 11.1.3 on Windows 7 Ultimate N(32 bit) OS with Oracle11g Database
Pls let me know if im missing anything here?

This is a really basic question... but how much memory do you have, and how long have you waited for all the processes to load? On a Windows XP Virtual Machine with 3GB, I have waited 20 minutes before being able to access. And until then, you will see the error you have received.
Just a thought...

OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 Patch Issue

Hi folks,
I applied the latest OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 patch earlier today. This was for a standalone instance and I didn't encounter any issues with the patching process itself. However, afterwards when I logged into Answers/Dashboard, the homepage looked very strange. The entire header component is missing, including the Oracle logo, the dropdown menus for dashboards, favorites, search text field, signout link etc. The Create section in the left pane is also empty. Everything else on this homepage looks fine. When I navigate to the catalog via the Browse/Manager section, the catalog comes up fine along with the previously missing header! So the header is only missing on the homepage.. Very wierd.
Would appreciate any hints on how to troubleshoot this.. Can I manually fix this is in one of the xml files? I'm hoping not to have to go back and re-do the patching!

I think dhar is referring to the cleancat script to clean up the catalog binary cache. Here is the notes from the BP1 installation:
Clarification on the cleancat script: You may want to first navigate to the locations listed in the script to see if the files exist in your environment (they may not). If they do not exist, then you may scip running the patch. Additionally, the script may fail with an error. If that happens, go to the directories the script is trying to delete and delete them manually (if they exist).
P.S: I have manually deleted these files by navigating to the directories after installing the patches.

1. I am now working with OFA, I Have working knowledge with OBIEE. Need some suggesstion Will it be possible to replace the OFA with OBIEE. If possible then how?
2. As OFA is not supported by Oracle anymore, I need to migrate to OBIEE. How is it possible.
3. I need some some suggession and upto what extend OBIEE can work like as OFA.
4. We do forecasting in the OFA for items and volumes. Will this be possible using OBIEE?

Custom sign in page OBIEE 11g

I have almost did it :D
I followed the instructions of rittman mead --> http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/12/oracle-bi-ee-11g-styles-skins-custom-xml-messages/
But the last step is missing :/
I have a folder with sk_pageaccuei, s_pageaccueil and WEB_INF which is cold analyticsRes.
It is located here : /opt/oracle/obiee/middleware/instances/instance1/bifoundation/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1/
I have changed the logo and i'm able to see it by enter the url.
The problem is, when I add these following lines in my instanceconfig, the presentation server does not restart !

I seem to have found conflicting information on the resource virtual path. In one instance docs say the default is '/Res' but other docs say the default is '/analyticsRes'. My guess is if this is reserved internally to default to '/analyticsRes' and then fall back to '/Res' then attempting to overwrite the default with instanceconfig using a reserved word would throw an error.
1) Did you try the instanceconfig without the virtual path to /analyticsRes?
2) Does the saw.log indicate why the restart failed?

Logo seen in report Title is not properly alligned when downloaded to Excel

Hi All,
Iam facing an issue with Download to Excel link on my OBIEE report.
When I download my report to Excel which has a logo in the report title, in the excel sheet the logo occupies all the cells till the end of the report columns and my report title is seen after those columns.
Can you please suggest a solution or a workaround for this.

Image Prompts in OBIEE 11.1.1.5

I am able to display an image as a logo on an analysis using the fmap notation... say fmap:Images/myimage.jpg.
However, I am unable to use the image in an Image Prompt using either the fmap notation or explicit URL.
I have uploaded the image to 2 locations:
/bifoundation/web/app/res/s_blafp/images/myimage.jpg
/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_WL_user/analytics_11.1.1/7dezjl/war/res/s_blafp/images/myimages.jpg
I have restarted the services.
I've tried various URLs but cannot display the image in the prompt.
Any ideas?

SDK in OBIEE

Hi All,
Is there any SDK that is available in OBIEE for customizing interfaces like we do have in MSTR, Cognos and BO?
I am using OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 and not OBIA.
I am not asking about the level of customization in changing the xml files like msgdb,style sheets, logos color etc. This is something different ...like we may have to work on portlets...or iFrames
The customer wants a separate page called landing page after the SSO with lots of widgets...!!
Some of them are....
1.A widget needed to have System messages from Administrators on alerts eg: the application maintenance down time. ( with buttons View All)
2.Another widget which shows the Release Notes of the application (description).
3.Another widget called Notifications that can capture the changes/edit in the dashboards or standard reports by the Super-users / dashboard owners. ( Dont know how we capture this from log files or Usage Tracking)
4.Another widget which can show All recent reports names, being classified as Custom(adhoc), Standard(dashboard reports) and batch(i have no idea) with created time !! Also search button inside this widget..huh!!
5.Now one more widget which can accomodate favorite reports of each user with edit button.
Now also they need a separate tool bar with logo, my profile, help, logout and links like home, reports and administration.
Although we have said there are features similar to this in OBIEE, and work arounds to bring the features but not exactly as this, I need to confirm once more.
I have seen folder named SDK IN OracleBI\server...is that I should be starting with?? Something again OBIEE JSR 168 portlets.
Please guide me and I will be grateful to all.

It looks like you are trying to re-invent the wheel to be honest. Most (if not all) of what you want could be implemented using a generic dashboard where all users could land once they login to OBIEE. Sure you can "hack" iframes and portlets but the whole point of using OBIEE is to avoid having to code a custom solution. I suggest you investigate getting all the data that you need to create your landing dashboard available to OBIEE so you can build standard reports on it. It might take you some time to do that but in the long run the suportability and maintanability of your application will be greatly improved. Should all that fail you can still add external stuff to your dashboard using the "Embedded Content" dashboard object. Have a look at the "Answers, Delivers, and Interactive Dashboards User Guide":

Customers asked us to use OBIEE dashboard reports(Framework) embeded into the specail pages which are developed through Java + JS+ Html.
