Logo w/Photo Animation

I have seen the ipod commercial with the album covers building a city as well as the Heald College logo being built with photos. Does anyone know how this was accomplished?
I want to build a simple logo with photos and video with limited movement to show our logo.
I have After Effects and Motion. Which program would be the best approach and is there any websites with tips?
Thanks,
Mark

I didn't work on the ad, so I can only speculate, but if I were trying to achieve that effect, I'd be heading towards after effects. Depending how fancy you wanted it, you could do it in Motion, but AE might give you more options, especially if you want to do anything in 3D.
What I'd be doing is building the logo out of photos as static 3D layers in AE. Then I'd be playing around with some camera passes to reveal the logo in a cool way. That's the short answer, which could get infinitely longer depending on how familiar with AE you are.
You might want to try CreativeCow.net or similar site that has specific VisFX forums and tutorials. If you're an AE Newbie, they even have an AE Basics forum which is good for plain english explanations of things.
Hope that helps.

  • Mac mini mid 2011 missing apple logo slide up animation at logon in Mountain Lion!

    Here is a video I have found on Youtube to show the animation for those who didn't know, also showing a macbook pro which is missing this animation (Although in the video the OS is Lion but this is not the main point of this thread). the Apple logo gently slides up and the user image and password field appears:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztpCNmDYDZ4
    I have installed Mountain lion on my Macbook Pro 13inch Early 2011 first and I loved this little animation which made the boot even more beautiful.
    However when I installed Mountain Lion on my Mac mini mid 2011, I had to see that the animation is missing.
    Luckily I have an iMac 21,5 incher Late 2009 as well, so I updated the OS and the animation was present on the iMac.
    So I'm wondering if this is a bug or is there any reason why this nice animation is not visible on my Mac mini?
    I did a Clean install as well to make sure it's not the upgrade's fault and I got the same result.
    Both my Mac mini and Macbook Pro has SSD. My iMac has a regular HDD.
    There was a thread opened about this issue where they said the animation issue would be solved in Mountain Lion:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18890484#18890484
    Well it was solved for my Macbook Pro and iMac seemingly but not for my Mac mini which is the latest from the family so it makes me sad that my newest computer is missing out on this little eyecandy. (Also I use the Mac mini most the time, so I miss this animation greatly)

    Same problem here. My MacBook Air (mid, 2012) doesn't have the issue and the animation is smooth. The problem is with my Mac mini (Early 2009). When it boots the apple logo shows up, then the spinning circle and then the screen goes black and the login screen appears afterwards with no animation.

  • How to get rid of Apple logo in photo book back cover

    When I finish the photo book preparation, at the back flap, there is a "Made on a Mac" & an apple logo. Can I get rid of that? Since this is not a free book, there should be no bundled ads on my personal photo book, right?

    Select the book in the sidebar, click on Settings, and uncheck the box for the logo.

  • Trying to install Mopheus Photo Animation Suite

    I am trying to install my newly downloaded Mopheus Animation suite (now compatibale with OSX) and when I start the install, it gives the not enough memory logo (this ap needs 16.8mb) and the installer greys out. I've got tons of memory and so I can't figure this out. Being lazy, I thought I would see if anyone on the board had run into this. I have see this before with other downloads, but nothing new enough to relate.

    G4 Flat Panel, Macbook Pro and Macbook with an old Clamshell in reserve!   Mac OS X (10.4)

    Thanks. I tried them and site admin says they had not heard of this happening.
    What I can't understand is that I have so much memory unused and it claims that I don"t have the required 16+MBs need for the install.
    When I click on the close window for that message, the installer has a message saying click to install on (Volume (Null), but the install button is grayed out.
    I have downloaded the installer again and it still does the same.
    A little help? I'm open to any ideas.

  • Who do PHOTOS animated using MOTION TAB look so crappy?

    Very frustrating..... I've created a sequence of imported photos (JPEGS) and have animated them (simple pushes, tilts and pans) using the motion tab. They look fine in fcp, but when I create a qt movie and use 'toast' to burn to dvd, it looks terrible! During the motion the images are quite pixellated, once the image settles, it's fine. Are there field dominance/interpolation/settings issues I'm not aware of?
    I'm an AVID editor trying to make peace w/FCP but it ain't easy.....
    Any advice?

    Mark,
    I routinely produce photo-montages which each image having some basic motion added to them using the Viewer window's Motion controls. They come out beautifully, even when projected at a commercial movie theater (we're talking REALLY big screen).
    I suspect that much of your problem lies with the DVD encoding. In tests I've conducted comparing QT Conversion, Cleaner, Compressor and Toast for DVD encoding, Toast was by far the worst in terms of quality - QT Conversion and Compressor were best.
    You should also be monitoring your work while your editing on an external NTSC or PAL monitor. That's the only way you'll spot problems BEFORE going to DVD. Your progressive scan computer monitor just won't cut it unless you're editing content solely for CD-ROM or web delivery. If some of the problem is in fine areas of detail in the photos, either scan them at a lower resolution, or you can blur specific areas of the image in Photoshop.
    I typically scan at a resolution 2 to 3 times what's needed for SD video so the sharpness of each image will be maintained even when pushing in to small areas of a photo. Save the scanned images in a uncompressed format (I use TIFF), import them into FCP and drag the whole folder of them to the Timeline so you can see what they'll look like on your external TV monitor.
    When you see one that's problematic, open it in Photoshop and adjust or correct accordingly.

  • Photo animation for my blog banner

    Hi,
    I started my blog some time ago. What I want to do is to put a GIF banner with some animation instead of a static JPEG photo.
    My idea was to take some of my photos and to somehow transition them to create a GIF animation.
    I'm looking for recommandation on what tools should I use? I started with Photoshop, but I don't know how to add transition effect in Photoshop.
    Thanks,
    Ziv

    Beware learning curve ahead.  :+)
    If you want to stay with Photoshop in animating your banner, you might be able to do relatively simple things without leaving Photoshop.

  • MacBook Pro froze on update so restarted now I only get to logo and loading animation

    I was updating my MacBook Pro 15" i7 late 2010 when it seemed to freeze saying 'moving one item'. I left it for a while 1.5 hrs and still no change so restarted the MBP.
    Now it won't to beyond the apple logo and spinning loading icon.
    Started up on OSX lion recovery and verified and repaired but still no joy on restart.
    Any ideas?

    Hey MSU16323,
    Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you get a gray screen during startup. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • Animated Gif DW8

    I haven't worked with animated gifs in such a long time so I
    welcome the
    input from others who are more knowledgeable in this area
    than I am. I have
    a client who wants their logo to be animated (and don't want
    it in Flash).
    Their design team created various sizes (of the animation)
    and sent them to
    me to embed in the page itself. When I opened the attachments
    (gif format),
    they all work beautifully. And if I import them into
    Fireworks 8 and view
    them within the application, again, no problem.
    But when I save them and embed them into the html via DW and
    then view the
    page within a browser, it looks like a static image. I did
    ensure that in FW
    I'm saving the file as an animated gif and not just a gif. I
    even by passed
    FW and saved the file as it was sent to me, but again, it
    looks like a
    static image. I'm not sure why I'm getting this effect but
    confident someone
    has an answer. Thanks for you input.

  • Animated gif files not working in FF5 ok in every other browser

    Hi .
    I am having problems getting animated gifs to play in firefox 5 i am using a photo gallery script to show these files it works in every other browser i have access to (most of them on Linux and windows Xp and win7 ) if i use FF5 as a file manager and navigate to the files they run but not from a web page this is only with firefox 4 and 5 not got previous to 4 to test .

    Right . this looks like it may be a problem with the way FF5 is handling various methods of viewing images i use the following code .
    <pre><nowiki><a class="thumbnail" href="#thumb"><img src="photos/IMG_7039 EOS-1D Mark III copy.jpg" width="100px" height="75px" border="0"><span><img src="photos/Animations/IMG_7039 EOS-1D Mark III copy.gif"></span></a></nowiki></pre>
    along with css .
    <pre><nowiki>(
    .gallerycontainer{
    position: relative;
    /*Add a height attribute and set to largest image's height to prevent overlaying*/
    .thumbnail img{
    border: 1px solid blue;
    margin: 0 5px 5px 0;
    .thumbnail:hover{
    background-color: transparent;
    .thumbnail:hover img{
    border: 1px solid blue;
    .thumbnail span{ /*CSS for enlarged image*/
    position: fixed;
    background-color: lightyellow;
    padding: 5px;
    left: -600px;
    border: 1px dashed gray;
    visibility: hidden;
    color: black;
    text-decoration: none;
    .thumbnail span img{ /*CSS for enlarged image displays the large image*/
    border-width: 4;
    padding: 12px;
    .thumbnail:hover span{ /*CSS for enlarged image*/
    visibility: visible;
    top: 0;
    left: 230px; /*position where enlarged image should offset horizontally */
    z-index: 50;
    )</nowiki></pre>
    to create the gallery now if i navigate directly to the dir with the gif images in they work ok but if i use the gallery method they fail .
    Tried safe mode no addons no change ..

    is it possible to insert picture in each rows of alv grid
    Edited by: *gomathy* on Apr 20, 2011 11:54 AM

    Hi,
    Logo should be uploaded into application server using transaction 'OAER'.
    1. Go to Transaction OAER,
    2. Give Class Name as PICTURES
    3. Class type as OT
    4. Object Key is the name you want to search or you want to upload.
    5. Then select the Document from below after double click on it .Choose in screen for logos.
    6. Upon execution you would be prompted to give the file path details. Just upload which ever logo u want to display
    7. Now you can use the same name in your ALV FM.
    In your ALV program, you need to have event for TOP_OF_PAGE, and also this works only in case of Grid not in ALV LIST.
    Check the below link for sample code.

  • Remove a logo from a video clip with content aware fill?

    I know you can remove logo in photos using content aware fill, but you can't do it to a video clip. You can only do it to a frame, but you can't apply it to the entire video. I know photoshop is not a video editing software, but having this sort of feature makes sense for photoshop users especially with content aware fill.

    I'm a career software architect engineer of 35 years, and I have to side with Howard on this one.
    Like Howard, I feel you're thinking about this way too simplistically.  Trying to work out what best to fill a part of an image with in 3 dimensions (x, y, and time) and have it look believable almost boggles the mind, especially thinking of a general case (your logo example is far to simplistic in itself).  The task is far from a simple looping repeat of what is being done 2 dimensionally on a still frame.  Frankly, it's more likely related to what's done with CGI, where scenes are modeled in 3D (4D actually) so certain elements can be replaced believably.
    Think about it...  If CAF is presently replacing part of an image with something it finds through some heuristics in another part of the image, and the stuff in that part of each frame is changing - and it would, because this is video, not still imagery - then it will select differently every time.  What makes you think it would select something that even resembles what it selected for another frame?  What you'd end up with is a frame by frame mishmash that would just make the outline of the selection obvious.
    Regarding CAF applied to individual frames, then your finding the result isn't coming out as expected in all the frames of the video (e.g., when you're testing this concept) may indicate a problem with the way you're using the tool, or possibly even a bug.  You might want to describe step by step what you're doing and show the result you're [not] getting.
