Hello ceebee3576,
Your Photo Stream only retains photos for 30 days. In order to backup images properly, you'll need to backup via iCloud or iTunes, or transfer the photos to a computer.
Does using My Photo Stream substitute for using iCloud Backup or iTunes to back up the photos in my Camera Roll ?
No. Photos in My Photo Stream are saved on the iCloud server for 30 days. To save or back up these photos, you must copy them from My Photo Stream to your Camera Roll on your iOS device. You can then back up your Camera Roll using iCloud or iTunes.

My launchpad icons are gone only the names are left no idea what happened !!!!

I just restarted my computer, again, and the icons are back. Don't know where they went, but they're there now.

  • I updated iOS 7 and my contacts were ok then they suddenly disappeared a few weeks after updating. I have no idea if it has anything to do with iOS 7 but when I email someone the contacts are there. When I open the app they are gone. What happened?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • I downloaded the iOs 6.1.3 and now my pictures and most apps I payed for are gone. Is there anyway to retrieve them?

I went to download the Yahoo! app on my iPod and it said I had to download the iOs 6.1.3 to get the app. I did so and I also dowloaded the newest iTunes on my computer. I had all my pictures and apps backed up on iCloud. After the update I checked my pictures and they were all gone. I also looked at my apps and most of them are gone and for a couple of free apps that I made purchases within, the information was erased. For example, I had the free version of the Harry Potter Spells app. Inside the app I bought the spell packages and when I got the game back on my iPod after the update, the information was erased. That's not fair especially because I paid for those and iFeel as though Apple has ripped me off. (Please pardon my pun.) But what I really want to know is if there is someway to retrieve them?

Restore from iCloud Backup step by step
    1. Erase all contents and settings (Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings)
    2. You'll be asked twice to confirm
    3. You'll see Apple logo and progress bar
    4. You'll see a big iPad logo on screen
    5. Configuration start
    6. Set language
    7. Set country
    8. Enable Location Service
    9. Select network, enter password and join network
    10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
    11. Selected Restore from iCloud Backup
    12. You'll be required to enter Apple ID and Password
    13. Agree to Terms and Conditions
    14. Select Backup file
    15. You'll see progress bar
    16. Red slider will appear; slide to unlock; step #1 to #16 is fast
    17. Pre-installed apps will be restored first
    18. Message: Purchased apps and media will now be automatically downloaded
    19. You'll see a pageful of apps with Waiting/Loading/Installing
    20. When the restore process is complete, your device will restart. You should connect the device to iTunes to sync data not contained in the backup (such as music, videos, apps, and so on).

  • TS1702 I upgraded my iPad 2 to ios6 & now certain apps (YouTube ) are gone & are not listed in the App Store. Another app (ny1 news) no longer works! Again it's not listed in the App Store. How do you correct this problem?

What happened to mt apps after uploading ios6
some are gone, some don't work & they are not listed in the App Store anymore

I found the following in the Macbook Help, and the last bullet worked for me.
"You can uninstall apps you got from the Mac App Store, from other websites, or from discs. You can’t uninstall apps that are part of OS X, such as Safari and Mail.
Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button . If you later want the app, you can reinstall it from the Mac App Store. If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, it can’t be uninstalled in Launchpad. For more information about Launchpad, see Use Launchpad to view and open apps.
Apps that have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. If an app is inside a folder, it might have an Uninstaller. Open the app’s folder. If you see Uninstall [App] or [App] Uninstaller, double-click it and follow the onscreen instructions.
Apps that don’t have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. Drag the app from the Applications folder to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), then choose Finder > Empty Trash. If you change your mind, before emptying the Trash, select the app in the Trash, then choose File > Put Back.WARNING: When you empty the Trash, the app is permanently removed from your Mac. If you have any files that you created with the app, you may not be able to open them."

  • I updated my iPad to ios 6.1 and now all my notes are gone.  Can you get them back?

I updated my I pad to iOS 6.1 and now all my notes are gone.  Can you get them back?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Offand, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"
If these do not solve the problem you can restore from a current iTunes or iCloud backup.

After updating my phone, all my old emails in the sent folder are gone. Can I retrieve them?

Try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.
If the issue persists, delete the email account then add it back.

  • I updated my itouch and now my apps are gone and I can't download.

So I did the ios5 update on my itouch gen4 and I synced it right before and everything was still normal. The upgrade took about 30-40 mins. I kept it pluged the whole time and after for about an hour or two but everything had stopped loading. But it only restored my photos. My music and apps are gone. Which wouldnt be a huge deal but I when I started to download my apps from the app store, the first worked but everything from then won't download. It's not my internet because safari works but the apps just keep saying waiting. If you could help, that would be great. By the way, my ipod was not jailbroken.

    - Try a reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try downloading the apps to the computer and then syncing. Sometimes after getting the apps in your iTunes library restoring from backup is required.

  • I synced about 50 books to my new ipad air 2.  When I click any other books, the sync starts all over again for all books (it shows 51 books syncing).  If I abort the sync, all of a sudden, all books are gone from my ipad.  I don't know why.

Hi were you able to resolve yours?
I was very worried losing all my medical stuff on my iPad Air 2, plus i have nothing to use for the next day! So i have to try all the possible things i read on the internet!! And this worked on my part (Thank God, and thank you Google)
    Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

  • Authorizations to apps are gone! Library Issue? :(

    Hey there,
Every time I reboot, ally my athorizations for Kindle, Scrivener, and a few other programs are gone.
This is especially tiresome for Kindle, because I have to re-download all boks and re-authorize another computer.
I already spoke to both companies, and they have no clue what it could be. I think it has to do with the fact that I can't overwrite a few files in my Library/Preferences folders.
    Can anyone confirm?
    Thanks!

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if it frightens you, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

They are really disappear from local disk and my itouch.
This is a fking bad jok for me.I have no idea how long gonna take me to get all songs back again. There are so many CDs were borrowed from friends.
If THE Apple can;t take that much of songs, PLEASE do not make the ipod or iphone with 64GB!!!
THAT makes people put more and more songs into it, but itunes actually couldnt afford that much songs!!!
    I'm so disappointed in ipod.
I have iphone, ipod, ipad, iMac and air, But from today, I will not buy anything with this logo again.Never.

You should migrated the iTunes library. Importing the media from an external drive is not the same thing at all, and behaves as you have observed.
