Logrotate and open trace files

On our racs we see a lot of open (lsof) trace files in our dump directories. We've been using logrotate with cumpersome pre/post rotate code to rotate the files, with the code supposedly filtering out open files, but we still run into issue and are going to revisit this code soon.
I'm wondering if anybody has found a clean way to rotate and delete trace files without accidently deleting open files?

Hollis, let's set expectations first.
Digital Editions runs on your computer, not your ereader. What it does is
interface between the publisher or distributor and you, by taking files
from them, reformatting them into readable documents in some cases (in
others, checking and maintaining digital rights), and transferring those
files (now in .epub format) to your computer. It keeps a library of these
epubs and manages it for you. You have to have Digital Editions or some
other similar program on your computer if you intent to obtain ebooks from
various sources. If you're satisfied with Barnes and Noble and the ebooks
they have, then you can link up with them via the Nook's wireless features
or through your computer and download ebooks directly to it that way.
You do not load Digital Editions or any similar program onto your Nook.
Next, at least a couple of people have told you how to the download. Arpit
Kapoor works for Adobe. His reply tells you how to download Digital
Editions and get it installed onto your computer. So my question to is do
you understand what he's saying?
If you have a problem with the download, then tell us in a bit more detail
what your computer is and what it's running (Windows or Mac). There are
some issues that others have had which relate to Win7, but your post isn't
clear enough to tell us whether you're encountering those issues.

I am trying to run tkprof on a big file and get the following error message:

Cause
TKPROF has a 2Gb filesize limit on the input tracefile.
Fix
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Assume "tracefile" is the name of the 3.5Gb raw tracefile.
2. We will need two Unix sessions, both as "oracle",
in the same directory holding the "tracefile".
3. Session A:
unix$ mkfifo mypipe
unix$ tkprof mypipe reportfile options
--> this should show the TKPROF banner and will then wait
without returning a Unix prompt
4. Session B:
unix$ cat tracefile > mypipe
--> this will feed the tracefile into the named pipe
5. The result should be that TKPROF is able to process the tracefile via the named pipe and write the reportfile.
Note: the above solution can only be carried out on a Unix system. If you encounter this problem e.g. on a Windows system, you could transfer the problematic file onto a Unix server and perform the workaround on it, as TKPROF works with tracefiles regardless of the originating platform.

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

How to embed and open PDF files within excel

I constantly need to embed PDF files onto Excel documents as well as extract/open/view PDF files from Excel documents. I am unable to do so with a macbook, i know that there is a workaround but it's such a tedious process. Is there a software i can buy or setting that i can do so that i can embed and open PDF files easily as i need to view these files multiple times a day for work.
please advise

Open the PDF file using it. If security restrictions don't prevent it you could also print it.

I can't save and open .ai files.

I can't save and open the file with special character in virtual drive(using communications). -> refer to this.. ( http://software.naver.com/software/summary.nhn?softwareId=MFS_105031 )
*Special character I used is 黒(not 黑).
If I rename the file name(黒.ai -> test.ai), the file is opend successfully.
And when I save the file as "Illustrator ver.8 format", the file is saved well.
This is the error message I have.

Clem is telling you to click on the View menu, move the pointer down to the item "Metadata," & from its choices make sure "Show Titles" is selected. Do this, then make sure you are in a view in the main window that shows one or more videos (or whatever) that you want to title. Click once on one of them, & if the separate Info window is not open, open that (on the Windows menu or command + i as a keyboard shortcut). In the Info window the top line will be "Add a Title."
Click once on that & type your title.
This works for any item, video or photo.

ST05 doesn't work : can't open trace file

Hi,
I am used to work with ST05 for years, but today, the trace DOESN'T WORK !! The trace activation and deactivation seem okay, but display triggers the following 2 errors : "File end of performance trace file detected -> See long text" (message 0S161), and "Could not open performance trace file" (message 0S113). I deleted all trace files in ST01, and tried again, but still the same errors.
I couldn't find anything in sap forums, notes, etc. Sometimes, it may work again, but only for a few seconds. Strange. Maybe disk full? Or memory? (buffers are undersized, total memory is 1GB)
But remember: it was working with the roughly same config since the beginning.
Any ideas?

@Rob, how do you know? :-D (sorry but I must cleanup my history of watches (of my own threads too) because it's impossible to display the watch page (so that to turn forums watch off, allow being watched config , etc.) when there are too many thread watches)
@Gana, maybe: ask the server to be restarted... and ask the admins to see if there are disk or network issues...

How to read,dispaly and open pdf files

Hi, I am very new to Java butI have VB6.0 background. My current requirement is to read pdf file names from a directory, then
show them on a form in a list (with their path in background pointing to the actual pdf files) and then once a user clicks any
file name, open that file on the form.
For example:
My pdf files are in a directory as following:
C:\myreports\user1\
report1.pdf
report2.pdf
report3.pdf
C:\myreports\user2\
report1.pdf
report5.pdf
The output on the form should look like this if user1 has logged in the system. Side note: I am able to get userid of the logged in person in a variable.
My Reports:
. Report 1
. Report 2
. Report 3
When a user clicks Report 1, it opens on the same form in pdf format.

For the first part (Listing thepdf files in the directory) you can use the java.lang.File class.
File f = new File("path to your directory");
File files[] = f.listFiles();
then process the files array to find the files with extenction pdf
You can also use a file filter object and make the listFiles method return only the pdf files.
Please read the documentation about the File class for more info about it.

Also you can search for free java based pdf viewers I am sure there must be meny.
And also the JTextPane might support pdf but I am not sure about it.

I've tried all the advice on the Firefox Help site, but I still can't download anything. Yesterday, I was able to download and open PDF files fine. Today... no.

While I was working on my Mac last night, I got a message that I needed to download an Adobe (I think an Acrobat X Pro) update. I did. That seems to be the time when I started having problems. Now I can't use the uninstaller for the program. I think that may be the problem, but my ability to fix it stops here.
I'm usually more discerning about updates, etc, but I was working on a project and the flashing updater was bothering me, so I hit yes, not really looking at the app I was updating. Ugh. My mistake.

Have you looked at the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] Knowledge Base article? There is a lot of useful information in there. It actually lists two different plugins to try for opening PDF files. I'd try both of them just to be safe.

How do you download and open PDF files that come in the email?

I can NOT download or open PDF files. It prompts me to open in IBooks and then it's not there. I am so frustrated. PLEASE HELP!

Touch the attachement once to download it. Then touch it a second time, after it is downloaded ( watch the attachment icon) to open it in quick view. if you want to do something more than just view it, and if you want to save it, Touch and hold the downloaded attachment to get the 'open in' pop up, and any app that supports PDFs, like I books, or any of the other PDF ready apps.
If it is not downloaded yet, it will not be in I books.

I cant get camera raw update 8.7.1 to work with lightroom 5.7 after downloading and opening zip file

When I try to open a raw file from lightroom 5.7 I get a message that I need camera raw 8.7.1. I downloaded the update as a zip file I extracted file then went through the install wizard process but still I cant get it to work. If I go to photoshop cs5 and open a raw file. canon crw. It will open in camera raw 6.7. can anyone help?

Does your device support the file type? There are some zip tools in the Google play store that would be helpful with unzipping.
However if it cannot download please try this:
