I am looking for a solutions that
- logs/audits what data(files) has copied to and from a USB/removable disk ?
- logs/audits who has copied data to and from a USB/removable disk ?
does ZENWorks End Point Security Management do the same

Have you tried clearing DW's program cache yet? That's usually my first step if something "just started happening"...

Server updates can cause DW to need a setting change. Have you already tried toggling Use Passive FTP in your site settings yet?
Has anything changed on your local network, like an update to a firewall?
If you are connected via wireless router, a low likelihood but possible thing to test would be a wireless router problem. Try connecting the computer directly to your modem, bypassing the wireless router (if you aren't using an all in one modem/router setup) to see if that makes any difference.

Fast user switching is on... I use the Name reference but I've tried switching to icon with the same result. If the a account I'm switching to is not logged in I get a blank Blue screen for about 2 seconds then the desktop of the account. If the account is already logged in then from the login window (all accounts have passwords) it just switches directly to the desktop.
I have spaces turned on on my main account however none of the other accounts do, the same thing happens regardless of which account you are switching from or to.
If you hadn't said it was working for you I would have believe they just pulled it from Leopard.

Using CCC,what to copy over from itunes

I have already copied over 200 GB of music via the drag,drop method to an EHD. I now what to copy over just the recently added items using Carbon Copy Clone. Do I just check the music folder? It contains the following. DS store,localized.Amazon mp3 ,itunes, garage band. Is there another easier way anyone can recommend. Thanks

Ok so let me understand this correctly. You want one EHD for iTunes and another for Backup? If this is correct that yes I would use Time Machine. Here is what I would suggest:
1. Create a folder in your ... lets call it iTunes EHD called iTunes
2. Drag the iTunes Media folder you already copied to the EHD into the iTunes folder you just created
3. From your internal HD copy (copy not move) the other contents of your iTunes folder into the iTunes folder on your EHD, stuff like the Album Artwork folder, iTunes Library file, iTunes Library.xml file etc.
4. Quit itunes, and relaunch holding down the alt/option button.
5. A dialog will appear asking you to choose a library. You can either choose an existing one or create a new one, click "Choose Library"
6. Navigate to your iTunes folder on your EHD and click OK. iTunes will launch and load your library
Once you get your Backup EHD select it for time machine through Preferences --> Time Machine --> Select Disk
Click on option and remove the iTunes EHD from the list so Time machine will back up that volume as well.

Safely copying files from Target Disk Mode to External USB. Advice?

Just got a new iMac and transferred my system and important files to it from my old iMac. However, a partition on my old iMac has files I want to move to my new iMac so they can be included in Time Machine backups while others I want to move to another external hard drive since I have physical copies of most of those files elsewhere.
I can connect my old iMac to the new via Target Disk mode and copy the critical files from Mac-to-Mac easily and quickly enough. What I want to know is if I’m safe to copy the other files from the TDM-connected iMac to a USB drive.
I’ve read that having other devices connected to your Mac while another Mac is connected via TDM can result in corrupted files. Is this true? Is it unsafe to copy files from a TDM Mac to an external USB drive?
If it is safe, is it best to connect the USB drive to the new Mac or to the old one while it’s in TDM? There’s a lot of data so I’m wondering about transfer times. One method would see files going over Firewire through the new iMac to a USB drive, while the other would go from TDM-connected Mac directly to a USB drive connected to its own USB port. That is:
TDM iMac > New iMac > USB Drive connected to New iMac
or
TDM iMac > USB Drive connected to TDM iMac
I have limited space on my internal drive and I also don’t want to copy-hop from TDM iMac to New iMac then copy from New iMac to USB drive. I'd like to go directly from old drive to external USB drive if it's safe.

I've used Migration Assistant already to move all of my immediately necessary data and settings over. This other data was on a separate partition and I'm unable to copy all of the data over to my new drive due to lack of space.
Things are complicated by the fact that I need to change some of my externals over to Time Machine ready backups. Previously I was using 1 TB and a 2 TB drive for TM and another 2 TB drive for general backups/archiving. Now I need to juggle things around so that both 2 TB drives are for TM and the 1 TB is used for archiving.
An important point I should have mentioned is that I can't use my old iMac normally due to a GPU problem that seizes the system up. This is the reason I can't just copy stuff directly from old iMac to external USBs.
I'm interested to know if what I described above is safe and if there are any time savings or benefits for copying through my new iMac or connecting the externals directly to the old iMac in TDM.

Copying files from Zip Disks that have desktop files?

I'd like to copy files from a bunch of old zip disks to my external HD. Many of the disks have desktop files. How do I copy over the entire contents of the zip disc? When I last tried this awhile back it seemed cumbersome to deal with those desktop files. Was I missing a simple solution?

Hi Lee,
Open the Zip Disk in the Finder, Select ALL, then while holding the Command key down, click on the Desktop file to deselect it, then drag the bunch over to where you want to copy them to.

Is there a way to view logs of what has been happening to my iPhone 4S re: sim cards?

My phone was basically stolen by a taxi driver--until I went to every effort to track him down--and my sim was removed. When I eventually found him 4 days later, he was very apologetic and full of excuses for why he didn't take it to the police station. When he gave it back, he said that "Someone in his sharehouse" had taken the sim out and that they discarded it.
Can I see if another sim has been inside my phone? I'm not sure what I can do with this information, but if his sim has been in my phone, I think there's no harm in making a complaint to his employer to stop this from happening to the next person (although, he does know where I live ).
I'm just a bit annoyed that somebody I tipped $10AU (we don't tip in Australia) and had a great conversation with would be such a jerk.

Very helpful! Unfortunately, it doesn't include what I'm looking for, but did let me know that my phone was functioning as usual, and the cellular network was working before I got out. So now I know that the driver found the phone within 5 minutes of me getting out, and turned it off/disconnected it somehow (I tried multiple times when I realised and it went straight to message).
EDIT: Unless he put it in the glove box or something, but I mean, how much can a glove box interfere with reception?

Log and Transfer has Media start from 00:00:00

I am trying to transcode my FS100 footage using FCP7. When i ingest my footage, all the footages have Media starting from 00:00:00. When I checked in my friends computer, he has a correct timecode. The only difference is he is using snow leopard and i am using lion.

So you're using Log and Transfer? I seem to remember there alot of problems posted here with footage on the FS100 which were caused by an upgrade of some sort. Here's one of the threads.

Copying files from removed HP hard drive

You have a couple of options as I see it.
I believe that you are try to take a back of you Old Hard drive this will help you to complete it. You have all connector in it like IDE , SATA for Hard drives & Optical drives.

Copy network from backup disk to internal drive 10.5.8

I have a Powertbook G4 1.25 aluminum firewire laptop I've used for years. Somehow,(I'm using Leopard 10.5.8 ,) my network files have gotten corrupted.
I can not connect to the internet at all any more. I know that my hardware is fine, as I can boot into a Tiger partition and connect just fine.
1) I really don't want to re-install my OS and start all over with drag and drop
2) I have an older backup that works fine, burt have hundreds of new files and programs since then.
3) What files specifically do I need to copy fropm the working backup to my current internal drive to get my internet up and working again?
4) Or other suggestions??

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

How Do I Solve this Problem when Copying Library from Backup Disks?

I recently had a pc problem that resulted in the repair company having to back up my hard drive (which included my I Tunes Library) onto DVDs.
When trying to upload the ITunes library from the DVD to my new computer (after downloading I Tunes software), about half of my library uploaded fine.
The other half is indicated in my new I Tunes library, but when I click on it it says that such songs "could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
When I attempt to locate it, I cannot find it on the disk. But it must be there, I am guessing, because it loaded, albeit in the inaccessible form, into the new I Tunes library?
When I open the disk in my D drive, I cannot find the songs that will not open; it appears that the people who backed it up, only made it through the "Ds". But again, that is inconsistent with the fact that the inaccessible songs' titles were uploaded to the new I Tunes library.
I am totally stumped. Is there any way to fix this? I am faced with losing half my library.

Can't Copy Folders from AirPort Disk in Windows

I know this is posted elsewhere, with no answers, but I wanted to get more information in the subject line than the other posts in the hope that someone will help resolve this issue quickly.
I have attached a FAT32 formatted external USB HD to my new AirPort Extreme. My macBook pro sees it fine and can copy files, folders, ect. to and form the drive.
My Windows Vista machine, however, can see the drive but can only copy individual files from it. If I try to copy an entire folder from the external HD to my machine it acts like it is going to copy it but hangs forever on the "Calculating remaining time" window.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, for me it only happens when moving files from the AEBS HD. I move folders and files all the time from my Vista machine to both another desktop with XP and to a laptop with XP as well as to my MacBook Pro and have never encountered this problem. So, I can only assumer, at least in my case, that is is, in fact, related to the AEBS HD.

Is it possible to copy direct from hard disk to ipod ?

I'm having a hard time here having all my music on my laptop. So therefore I have an external hard disk with my music on. So now I would like it on my new 80 Gb ipod. Is there a way of copying it onto the ipod without having to import it into itunes libary ?

Yes. Put the disc in to your computer. After a while you should see a disc icon pop up in the bottom right corner of the Itunes window. Click. A popup should come up asking if you would like to import. Click yes if you want to download all songs. It will begin copying the checked songs into your library. If you don't, click no, unselect songs that you dont want, then click burn disc in the bottom right corner of the window. It will begin copying the checked items into your library and it will skip the unchecked songs. Movies, I have found, are different. I currently have a topic that is disscussing this problem so if you find out how to do movies, please try to reply to my disscussion.

Is it possible to have more than the 2 gigs available to use has ?(if not,stupid question:can i (temporarelly) rename a big .zip file to .mp3 extension and then transfer it to zen micro so that i can use it has an alternati've "removable disk"?note that in this way removable disk mode would be off)

Incidentally, I have a question: Is there any reason to keep using that "removable disk" feature once you have upgraded to the PlaysForSure firmware? I mean, with that firmware, you can simply drag and drop files to the player even if it's not in "removable disk" mode -- so why would one need to use this mode anymore?
