Long Beep and autotype key

I have HP Envy 4, Long beep sound while starting up and in password it autotype.

Yes, I can see that now..
Iwe plugged the 4-pinned square plug into the JPW and also unplugged the CD-rom and HD just in case.
But I just tried it, and I still get a loud beeping sound that wont stop (until I turn it off) and a blank screen..
All Iwe got connected now is the JPW(4-pin square), JPWR(normal 4-pin) and ATX1(24-pin)
Thanks for the tip, sadly it wasnt enough :P..

  • Won't start up - 3 long beeps and 1 short beep repeated

    As I was watching Netflix, the display went crazy and displayed horizontal lines and the computer froze.
    I held the power switch down to shut it off.
    After restarting, seemed to work fine for a few minutes, then same thing happened.
    Reset again. Seemed to start up fine (heard the chime and the hard drive going) but no display output.
    Reset again. Got the start up chime, a white screen with horizontal lines, and I get 3 long beeps and 1 short beep repeatedly.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    The beeps you're hearing means the system has no usable memory. You can try reseating the memory or swapping for other known working memory (pain as it is to open the mini up). Otherwise, typically that means it's new logic board time. See this Apple article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547

  • 3 long beep and cannot open MacBook

    I just bought a new MacBook and I am a new Mac user. Each time I turn on my Black MacBook 10.5 it won't open and it keeps beeping 3 long sounds. I need to hold down the power button to switch it off then turn it on, then it open. Is there any problem in my MacBook? What I will do to eliminate the sound and to open smoothly?
    Thanks.

    I also have the 3 long beeps and gray screen. This is incredibly frustrating just before a business trip to Dubai.
    I eventually figured it was a RAM problem, I upgraded my Macbook to 2 1GB sticks in November and everything worked fine. Now it is the 22nd of Jan, used Macbook last night fine, this morning it wouldnt start, 3 beeps and gray screen.
    I heard someone say the RAM could have been dislodged so i opened up the back and removed the ram and reinserted it..
    NO CHANGE, still beeps 3 times and doesnt startup.
    So i removed one 1 GB stick thinking it might be faulty, surprise, it works on just 1 GB, leopard starts up fine.. great but i want to use both sticks!
    I shutdown the computer..
    i figured it might be that stick which was bad, so to check i swapped it with the stick i removed and restarted, also works fine..
    conclusion not bad memory...
    thought it might be the port, so i swapped the stick into the other port and restarted, leopard starts fine...
    Conclusion: Not a bad port
    So tried both sticks again then believing nothing was wrong, 3 beeps pop up leopard doesnt start,
    Conclusion for some reason leopard is now not accepting 2GB, it will only boot with 1GB.
    This makes no sense, I have a Macbook Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz machine.
    There is no reason why it suddenly stopped working with 2 GB.
    I am at a loss, and considering backing up all my files and reinstalling leopard next week after my trip with a complete format. Although this shouldnt be nexxessary and may not change anything. Otherwise take it into an apple store and see what they say.

  • HT5860 What about if when I start up my MacBook Pro it makes 3 short beeps 3 long beeps and 3 short beeps.  Or is that the same as 3 long 3 short 3 long?

    The screen does not turn on and makes 3 short beeps 3 long beeps and 3 short beeps again then turns itself off.  Well I just tried to turn it on again and now there are no more beeps but instead just a black screen.  The LED light in the front of the laptop is on and not blinking.  Does anyone know what be wrong with my laptop?
    Also this is a 2010 model I believe

  • H57M-ED65 with i5 cpu - added HD and now we get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps

    So a friend of mine has a MSI H57M-ED65 that he added a 2 terabyte sata drive too.  Everything has worked perfect with this board for about 3 years.  they turn it on and now it gives a beep of 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. No Video.  Now I have seen the beep codes but it doesnt add up.  I have removed everything and reseated.  They do not use the onboard video, if I remove all the memory and power it on the board recognizes the fact no memory is there and gives the correct codes.  I have checked all connections but the only thing online I see is it says possible video problem.   Doesnt really add up and I checked the few connections that had been un plugged and everything is correct.
    Has anyone ever seen this problem after putting in a drive?  Oh yea also I have unplugged the dvd and hd's and still get the beeps.  If its still video issue I am going to assume it has to do with the onboard video cards because with out the other card installed it still gives errors.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Extra 1GB RAM causes 1 long beep and 8 short beeps.

    This is my first post, and I am having problems installing the maximum 3GBRAM on my KT4AV L mobo. I bought 3 1BB sticks from crucial, all PC2700. Each stick is ok. The first two work with a 512MB stick in the 3rd slot, but when I try to add my 3rd GB stick the computer cant get past the 1 long beep and 8 short beeps. I have tried adjusting the voltage to 2.7, (didnt try 2.8, as someone in another thread thought it might be unwise for life of RAM.)
    Is there a solution to this? havent updated my BIOS, but I am nervous about doing this because I have heard it can mess everything up. Any advice will be welcome.

    Well, I can't guarantee the whole amount of RAM will fit. It ought to, but that is all I can say. Grayone is saying this as well as I but shorter.
    I have two more reasons for wanting you to get another PSU:
    - This is not particulartly quiet, 26dB idle is nothing to shout about. http://www.qtec.info/products/product.htm?artnr=14321&specs=1 (Please note the little word "peak" - that is not the same as "max".
    - I speculate in that you think you need this much memory because your system isn't working up to the level of the in-built parts. The PSU has hindered efficient use.
    How much would you like to spend?
    Prices are for comparison only!
    The Tagan 480W seems to be 1000 Sw kr.
    "My" Zalman is about the same.
    Antec is a very good, quiet and reliable brand, and I'd say more powerful and feature-rich than both the Tagan and Zalman - for that money you'd get: http://www.antec.com/specs/true480_spe_EU.html and for half of it you might get this: http://www.antec.com/ec/productDetails.php?ProdID=07483
    Hiper and Sirtec/Chieftec and Seasonic are other good brands - Sirtec I'v got in one system and that is running very good and quiet.

  • I hear 1 long beep and 2 short beeps and I get no video.

    I have a MSI mainboard AMD socket 970A-G46.  When I turn on my PC, one long beep and two short beeps will occur.  Second, I will not see any video.  What is the cause of this and and do I get to the BIOS menu on this mainboard?
    Also, sometimes the my PC will go to sleep mode on its own and when I press the button to get it out of sleep mode, it will not go out of sleep mode.  What is the cause of this and how can it be solved?

    Here is the information about my PC.

  • K8N Neo Platinum: no video output, long beep and long wait, led 3 green

    I have a K8N Neo Platinum for about 4 years without big problems. Two days ago I dismounted teh pc to clean and put a new HD and when I mounted again it did not work.
    Problem:

    * System hangs and no video output;
    * Speaker keep making long beep followed by long rest;
    * D-Bracket LEDs are 3 green and 1, 2, 4 red meaning it hangs somewere near teh keyboard controller initialization;
    What I have tried:
    With no change:

    * Taken off everything from teh MB and put back only CPU, PSU, RAM, VGA and plugs for power and reset switch;
    * Turn on teh MB out of teh case;
    * Clear teh CMOS setting JBAT1 and by removing battery;
    * Tried all possible combinations of one and two RAM sticks and slots on MB;
    * Take out all of teh RAM;
    * Take out VGA;
    * Take out RAM and VGA;
    * Switched VGA;
    * Switched PSU;

    I have already had some problems like this before with power failures but magically things worked again. This time was teh same. I got things working some times at random (really random lol) by taking power cables, reseting bios and turning back on but teh problem reapeared when I put HDD back and did not work again when I removed it. Now I can't seem to get it to display anything.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: sry I made a little confusion: It is a K8N Neo and not a K8N Neo2.

    Thanks!
    Keyboard problem, you think? What do you have?
    Two things that are quite common:
    Do not attach PS2 keyboard when there is power in the system.
    Do attach USB keyboards when you are up and running in Windows.
    This is not it, but Logitech keyboard drivers often complicate things.
    I do use a PS2 kbd but never had problems with it (unlike teh PS2 mouse). I do not think it's kbd fault because it won't POST with or without it.

  • One long beep and no video on boot

    Just wondering if anyone could help me out with this little problem I seem to be having. I've checked all the connections to the board and everything is right. When I try to boot up all i get is one long high pitched 4 or so second beep that loops every 2 seconds and no video (using onboard video) or anything else.
    Even tried using a small 4x video card to see if that was the problem.
    System Specs:
    MSi p4mam-l microatx mobo
    VIA Vt8751a & VT8235 chipsets
    p4 2.0ghz celeron processor @400fsb
    Corsair ddr266 mem
    award 430w power supply
    wd  40gb ata100 hd

    Pretty long beep but I finally figured it out and got it fixed.  Stupid board was flaking out over the corsair mem for some reason. It took six different sticks of ram before i found one that the damn thing would boot up to.

  • Long beep and Dark screen when I start

    Hello there!
    I just bought myself a new gaming computer for the summer, Iwe spent about 10.000KR, thats about 1,500Usdollars, but I cant get the damned thing to work, so Im posting here hoping you experts could give me some suggestion about what to do. And by the way, Iwe build a couple of computers during my time, but lost the hang of it, and do not posess too much knowledge about the newest of hardware =)
    So, lets get on with the problem;
    I build the pc myself, and after plugging in the various power cords and such, I hear a loud beep that won't stop when I press the power button, and a blank (or dark if you will) screen.
    Now, all Iwe connected to the mainboard is the screencard (In the topmost PCI express 16x), one SATA-disk (In slot 5), one 1gb DDR2 chip (In the left-most green slot), and one CD-rom (By an IDE-cable in the yellow IDE-slot)
    I think the problem is that Iwe connected some power-cords wrong, or that I dont got the right ones. The ones Iwe connected to the mainboard is a 24-pin (into the ATX1 slot), one normal "thingy" (Uhm, like the ones you put into HD's and CD-roms, normal 4-pins I think its called) into the JPWR and one 6-pin into the JPW - Besides that Iwe connected the HD and CD-rom with normal 4-pins.'
    So my questions is as such;
    Do I need an 8-pin to the JPW instead of the 6-pin I got?
    Do I got enough power in my PSU?
    Do I need to connect more or less power-cords?
    Have I forgot something?
    Should I buy a new (and more appropriate) PSU?
    The specs of the computer is as following, and I apologize the links, but as said, im not as good as I should be:
    Mainboard:
    975X Platinum PowerUp Edition - http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=267&maincat_no=1

    Ram:
    Twin Mos DDR2 PC6400 1024mb
    I thank you for any help you may provide
    Sincerely
    Dag Christopher
    Edit:
    Just figured out the problem, I forgot to connect the last 6-pin rectangle to my graphics-card, making it a total of 4 cords just to the graphic and mainboard.
    Anyhoo, thanks to you who tried to help, it got my mind started

    Yes, I can see that now..
    Iwe plugged the 4-pinned square plug into the JPW and also unplugged the CD-rom and HD just in case.
    But I just tried it, and I still get a loud beeping sound that wont stop (until I turn it off) and a blank screen..
    All Iwe got connected now is the JPW(4-pin square), JPWR(normal 4-pin) and ATX1(24-pin)
    Thanks for the tip, sadly it wasnt enough :P..

  • We experience the 1 long beep and 2 short beeps that many others have written about

    On a HP Pavillion dv9380ea (GF724EA). We have read that is a problem with the display adapter and has testing that we cannot show anything on an external screen. So is there anything we can try, beside changing the motherboard??

  • T60 - 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps

    Hi everyone,
    I have a quick question.
    I've recently bought a second hand T60 (1952-CTO) which had lots of problems including a keyboard that didn't work (0210 error Stuck Key) over heating (reconditioned the CPU fan & reapplied new thermal paste) and now I'm facing a new problem.
    The T60 works find when plugged in (with no battery installed) but when I tried to run it on the battery alone nothing happened (despite being charged to 100%).
    When I then turn the T60 on with the power lead and battery I get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps with nothing on the screen.
    After turning the T60 off then try again, it works and boots up fine.
    I've looked it up on other threads and they suggest he DIMM so I've tried he following:
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Battery - does not boot
    Battery & Lead [off] - does not boot
    Battery & Lead [on] - does not boot
    Unplug & reconnect
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Battery - does not boot
    Battery & Lead [off] - boots ok
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Battery & Lead [off] - boots ok
    Battery - nothing
    Battery & Lead [off] - nothing
    Battery & Lead [on] - does not boot - 3 beeps
    Disconnect & reconnect lead
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Battery - nothing
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Removed 3rd party DIMM & leave original
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Battery & Lead [off] - boots ok
    Battery - nothing
    Battery & Lead [off] - nothing
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Battery - nothing
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    New 3rd party & original DIMM
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    Battery & Lead [off] - nothing
    Battery - nothing
    Battery & Lead [off] - nothing
    Battery & Lead [on] - does not boot - 3 beeps
    Battery & Lead [on] - boots ok
    So now I'm really confused. My thoughts are now it's the worse case scenario, the motherboard.
    Does anyone have any suggestions that may help?
    Thanks,
    Willis

    The DIMM seems fine but I'm concerned that this issue only occurs once I've tried to boot the T60 on battery (nothing happens) then try straight after with the plug.
    I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new mother board but before I do does anyone have any other suggestions software wise (I've already updated the drivers from the Intel website).
    Thanks
    Willis

  • 1 long beep

    I am in the process of building a system I am planning on using as a PVR. When i power up the system i get one long beep and nothing else. All the fans spin and I can hear some HDD activity but the screen is blank. I tried switching monitors and i didnt get anythig different. I also tried a different stick of Ram and that had no effect as well. As a matter of fact with no ram i get the same long beep. My system details are listed in my signature. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    My list isn't the nVidia approved list tho...so that doesn't mean anything...
    I'm not trying to be mean here but different modules/batches of memory can actually be different even if they have the same number on the sticker...he could have say Infineon chips on his module and you could have Hynix chips...see my point? I haven't looked but your memory could appear on the list...it still wouldn't mean much if the memory module(s) bad tho...
    It's like that with RAM unfortunately and is something we builders have to deal with...
    Ultimately tho these K7N2 boards are a little too picky about memory for my taste which is why I don't run one myself...mine is still in it's box on my bench behind me as it gave me a hard time early on...it's not a Delta version it's the original ILSR...I'm about to build it into a new machine for my girlfriend...yea I know...I have a death wish tho...heheheh
    I'm really at a loss as to where to lead you now because we've tried everything short of changing out the memory for something else off of the approved list...
    My only other recommendation now is to take it to a qualified repair shop and let them have a go at it...
    Good Luck
    Bonz
