Long delays in mail delivery to mailboxes when msg is recieved at server
Mail arrives at Exchange server we know this because we have logging turned on, but the mail appears to go into limbo for anything up to 2 hours before it gets delivered to users mail box, there is no difference between outlook client or if the
user logs on using owa, the email is not shown. when exchange does decide which it does it will deliver all messages it has received in one go so all show up with in 30 seconds at the same time in users in box. we have put on the recent Exchange
SP1 hopping this would solve the issue, the server is brand new and has 2tb of storage available CPU is hardly doing anything. all other aspects of server are normal file shares printing etc. Just mail delivery is VERY VERY slow and then
it all comes at once.
We have tried restarting the server some times this does help other occasions it makes not difference. server has I3-3420 cpu with 16gb ram. This is driving us bonkers please can some body give us some guidance as what to do check or alter.
Thanks in advance.
Richard
Hi Richard,
I recommend you to do few testing to narrow-down the root cause
Does this mail delivery getting delayed only for external users or its both for internal and external users ?
How many Exchange servers you have ? Is this a combination of HUB & CAS together if its 2013 or you have them Separately?
Do you have any antispam configured in your environment ?
Is there any antivirus installed in the exchange servers?
I would recommend you to run Get-TransportAgent and see the list of transport agents installed on your Exchange servers
As a part of testing i would suggest you to disable all the transport agents installed on the servers disable antivirus send a test email and check if the delay is happening or not . Also disable the exchange antispam if its installed and see if the mail
delay exists. Because mostly any transport agents acting in the categorization part might be causing this problem if their configuration has any problem.
Let us know the results so that we can proceed further.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

I have enabled junk mail filtering to move designated junk mail to junk mailbox when it arrives. But it no longer does so. Why not? I am using an iMac with version 10.10.1
Try resetting the Junk Mail filter. This will start it on a new learning curve. Mail/Preferences/Junk Mail.

I've recently noticed big delays in the time that messages show up in my Mail app, sometimes hours after they were sent to me. Today I noticed that there were at least ten messages visible to me on the mac.com web site, but I couldn't get those messages until I forced a mailbox synchronization.
Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Any resolution to this?
Thanks

Hi,
A couple of our users are experiencing serious delays in email delivery on their BDS-controlled Z10s while roaming. With "serious" I mean delays in the magnitude of hours. This is something however that purely relates to Z10 and the way message sync is done (activesync)
Since we've got both legacy (OS7) devices and BB10-devices on our network I can confirm that email delivery on the legacy devices happens instantly while BB10-devices experience the above mentioned delays when roaming.
So here are my questions:
Anybody else experiencing this problem (I saw a post under BB10 automatic sync not working while roaming in US mentioning US roaming problems, but in our case it's Europe and travelling between European countries)
Is there a way to get an activesync-log from the Z10s itself showing dates/times of activesync and error-messages respectively? (Afaik the phone has an end-to-end-connection to the activesync/exchange server) - on other platforms (IOS, Androids) you can find a local activesync log on the smartphone so I'm positive that something like this must be present on BB10 too.
Any known cure - or at least an idea how to track this down?
Thanks much in advance for any clue
-bblacksheepI don't know if my situation is related or not, but I have (since Friday) been experiencing delays with Gmail on my Z10. However, it's not universal. I have 9 Gmail accounts, and only a subset are affected by delays, while others receive everything immediately. They are all integrated via ActiveSync, and delivery elsewhere (e.g., Outlook client, Gmail webmail inteface) is not affected.
If the problem affected all of my Gmail accounts the same, I might believe that the problem is with BB or my carrier services. But, since it's only affecting a subset, I instead believe my issues to be rooted at Google. Given all they have recently done to alienate the BB platform, I'm actually not terribly surprised either.
Note that no roaming is involved...this is on home network carrier and also almost completely on WiFi. No changes have been made to the configuration...but this behavior started suddenly on Friday. Eventually, everything gets delivered and reconciled...but on some accounts, the delay is quite large.
If your issues can be narrowed down so as to truly know a root cause, and that root cause results in being something in the BB device, OS, or infrastructure, then you need to contact your mobile service provider for formal support and potential escalation up to BlackBerry for enhanced support.
Good luck!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
Long delay before mail received sound
When I check my mail it may take nearly two minutes before the mail sound chimes after mail is received. For example, today when checking mail I got one short email. I saw the white progress bar at the bottom of the screen and the message that Mail was downloading one email. It was almost a full two minutes after that before the the mail sound chimed and the spinning wheel at the top of the page stopped. I usually have time to download, read and discard my email before the mail chime sounds. This was never the case on my 3GS running iOS 3. I now have the iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0.2. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is Apple aware of it? Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Thanks.

Mail Delivery Error only when sending from certain email accounts
I posted in another thread regarding this however the problem has seemed to get more interesting.
On a whim i decided to change which e-mail account I was sending from and re-sent the exact same PDF document from my MobileMe(instead of Gmail) and it worked perfectly!! got the e-print confirmation about it preparing for printing and then whalla the print! Went back to try gmail and got the Mailer Deamon error again:
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
[email protected]
Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.7.1 Command rejected (state 18).
could it be specifically related to Gmail or googles servers? Are there specific mail providers that work/don't work(for example MobileMe vs Gmail vs Yahoo, BlackBerry, etc...)
Any help is greatly appreciated in advance.and while I had read that information and appreciate you re-providing that I'm still not sure exactly what that tells me. In both cases I was using Apple's Mail (once to send from a Gmail account which failed and once from MobileMe win succeeded) and then again from my BlackBerry handhelp(in which case neither account worked)
since both Apple Mail, Blackberry and also Gmail are "tested" I'm assuming you're pointing out the "testing does not guarentee full compatibility" portion of this statement which to me is misleading. If I'm using only "tested" clients but having problems it feels slightly dishonest to be marketing this product as complete. While I am optimistic about the many possibilities offered by this printer I am disappointed at present by the limited and seemingly premature release of "e-print" as a whole.
Any other potential workarounds you can think of? -

Random mail delivery delays - stuck in queue for extended periods of time
I'm really hoping someone can help me out here. I'm setting up a new OS X Mail server (upgrading from Tenon Post.Office). I'm using accounts from Active Directory and everything seems to be working great... except (you knew there was an 'except' didn't ya?) that I'm randomly getting long delays in email delivery.
From what troubleshooting I've done so far, basically the emails are coming to our domain, hitting our Symantec anti-virus / anti-spam server and then getting forwarded to my mail server fine. I can look in the SMTP logs and see the emails showing up...
But then, completely randomly, there is sometimes a long 1-6 hour delay before it transfers from the SMTP to actually being able to get the email in our clients. I can see these emails sitting in the queue, but clicking the 'Retry' and entering some of the commands I've seen on this board don't seem able to kick the queue into gear.
We're just in testing right now, so only have about 6 users on this machine, but there is going to be about 1000 when I'm all said and done, so the fact that I'm getting these delays already concerns me. Network and CPU activity are barely even showing (this is a quad Xeon server, so lots of power), so I don't think things are being overloaded, which makes me suspect some kind of configuration error.
Looking at other requests, I'm assuming I'm going to be asked for postconf -n and the output of some of the logs, so let me add that now:

Intel X-Serve, X-Serve RAID, all kinds of other goodies Mac OS X (10.4.9) Support about 2000 MacsA wealth of information on configuring/troubleshooting your email server can be found at:
http://osx.topicdesk.com/
I know your issues isn't particularly with SPAM, however I would try to following this tutorial on "Frontline SPAM Defense":
http://osx.topicdesk.com/content/view/38/62/
This fixed many of my email server issues. I would try this first. -
I am experiencing a long delay in Mail getting new mail. Here's what happens:
1. on launching Mail, it gets new mail immediately, so I know my account settings are good.
2. once Mail is running, there is a long delay in updating new incoming mail -- can be hours. I have Mail set to check every five minutes. Also, I can manually click on Get Mail and I get a No New Mail beep even when there is new mail (see next point).
3. If I use webmail to access my account, I can see new mail sitting in my In Box.
4. if I quit and relaunch Mail, the new mail shows up.
I have an IMAP account which has worked well for years. This delayed behaviour started a few months ago when I was running Leopard. I posted a question but never got an answer that worked. Now I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.4, and hoped Mail would correct itself with the upgrade. It didn't.
I was once advised that it might have something to do with the Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" setting. However, this preference is ticked and greyed out so I can't change it. (The advice was to turn it on or off and see if that was a fix).
I am running on an iMac 24" Core 2 duo (early 2008 model). After the Snow Leopard upgrade I repaired permissions and ran all the chron scripts. So my system should be pretty good.
I would be grateful for any help. I have clients call and say "I just sent you an email..." and I appear dumb because I have to go to webmail to get it right away. It's getting better. I used Other to setup my mail acc via MfE, by tricking it to a non uniform mail. That worked, I changed it back to googlemail and guess what?! Next time I boot the phone, the MfE is gone. but it still registers in the background so I can't create a new one. Configuration Tool 6.3 does see it but cannot overwrite it. PixiEnables package and its font nonsens severly screw with PopUpClock, Screensaver and SleepingScreen memory boundaries so those three crash. Thanks for nothing MS apps -.-

Long delay when sending non-btinternet mail
We are using Outlook Express/Windows mail client, and there is a long long delay when sending mail.
It just hangs saying "Connecting..." in the status bar. Receiving email has no problems.
Eventually it sometimes works or sometimes just times out.
The smtp server is not btinternet/yahoo but our own email server, which we have been using for 10 years. There is no problem pinging the smtp server. e.g. smtp.ourserver.net
It works without delays on other (non BT) home/business networks.
We have tried plugging other laptops into this home network and trying to send email (to the same mail server) - same problem.
It therefore seems to be peculiar to a BT Hub or BT as the ISP.
The problem seems to have first appeared when an upgrade was made to cater for future fibre optic services.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Today I started from my Firewire-device with 10.4.11 and had ichat running from there. I chatted with my friend, who is on 10.5.1 - no problems at all. (so my router is not causing the problem, as I thought)
Starting from 10.5.1 again I opened up Activity Monitor and found this message every 10 secs !

I remember that I installed Little snitch some time ago and removed it manually. Then today I run the official uninstaller for it. Still I cannot get rid of this activity. May be it has to do something with the text delay in ichat? How to delete all Little Snitch processes? How can someone find these data?
Thanks for Feedback -
Delayed mail delivery after Rollup 6 install
After updating Exchange 2010 Sp3 to rollup 6, users are reporting that emails delivery is very slow and takes several hours to appear in Outlook. Mail delivery in OWA is instant.
The problem is fixed by disabling the Exchange cached mode option in Outlook but is not the best solution for laptop users.
Is this a known issue with rollup 6 or any patches available to fix this?
thanks.Disabling the cache mode means it's not using a OST instead it's online with exchange all the time, if the behavior is only seen when in cached mode then it's having difficulty synchronizing the OST, if you have users with large mailboxes this could be causing
slowness.
Creating a new profile or removing and alternative to a new profile the ost and letting it recreate may solve for now, if you have outlook 2013 you can turn on cached mode but only cache 1 month of data this may be a solution for large mailboxes.
It is possible you have tipped the scales with the rollup install and are taxing the server just a little to much, is it a VM can you add Memory and see if there is some relief.
You can also try to run the exchange best practice to see if something else is going on. -
Long delay between send button and actual send in mail
When sending messages in mail, there is a long delay between the time I hit the send button and the actual sending begins. Message and attachment size have no bearing. The delay is usually about 30 seconds, but sometimes longer.
There was info in the detail window when I opened it. Also, it was not immediately connecting to the server, but when I clicked back on the regular mail window to send a test message, the server connected instantly. Below is all that was in the details window:
