I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems.

ILife 11 no longer available at Apple Store

Went to the Apple Store this morning to get the URL for the iLife 11 disk page and found it was no longer available.
Therefore, any user who needs to purchase a copy of iDVD will have to go to Amazon.com or eBay.com.

At least external optical drives are cheap and easy to get!
And they use the tray to hold and deliver disks instead of the slot. I don't like the slot. I do a lot of audio book ripping to get them on my iPod and with the slot in my iMac everything heats up too much and sometimes freezes. With the tray drive in my old G5 (which I access via Screen Sharing as it does not have a monitor) is can rip 10 disks in a row without any problem.
When the G5 finally gives up the ghost I'll get an external optical drive.

IMac 21.5" 2010 Intel having screen problems - Apple store no help

So I've been reading on this board about the problems people have been having with the iMac displays going haywire - flickering and then going black... I've had my 21.5" iMac for about 10 months now and have started to have this problem, albeit intermittently. I've been to the Apple Store twice (and of course, the screen performs fine in the store) - the first time they ran "12 hours of diagnostic testing" and found nothing wrong. The second time, the "Genius" installed the new version of Flash and suggested seeing if it mattered what was plugged into the Firewire/USB ports that caused it to flicker. I can find no one thing that I have done consistently that causes the display to begin behaving this way. Today I did nothing but check my Gmail (had nothing plugged in the back) and it started flickering and going to a black screen continuously. I have certainly lost faith in my local Apple Store to fix this problem... from what I've researched here it seems that my iMac needs a new display or backlight. Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do? Or what to do or say when/IF I go into the Apple Store again with this? I'm kind of at the end of my rope here.

Iphone Problem Apple store neglection

I would just like to get other take on this serious issue I have. First I purchased a Iphone from a seller off of craiglist when he gave me the phone the touch screen was fully operational. After I synced up my itunes updated to 3.1.3 and created account the who left side of the phone stoped working.
So I call the apple store they told me the phone was still under warranty and told me to come in. Well i drove ONE AND A HALF HOURS to the app store; were I was told to wait for about an 30-50 minutes before being helped. Once the man began working on my phone he told me I have a Full year left on my warranty and they would fix the phone or give me a new one.
Well after he opened the phone he said someone previously opened it and replaced something with another part with the brand name "APPIE". Then he told me theirs nothing he can do and told me to leave. Soon after I relized now the whole phone touch is not working so I can not even return it to the seller because the guy at the apple store messed it up. Someone PLEASE HELP ME

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor: how to get support when you purchase at Apple Store?

I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor software at Apple Store in May/11/2013.
I could use the product no more than 2 times because it started to have problems to open, since then I could not use anymore. In December, when I was trying to use the software again, I couldn't and started to call Apple and Adobe to try to solve my problems.
Apple Support advise me to uninstall my Operational System (@Mavericks) and to install back the older version @Mac_OS_X_Lion_10.7. I did that and Adobe didn't work again. IT downloaded to my computer, but it couldn't be opened. As you can see the print screens below.
After many tries going back and force to Adobe and Apple and now that the software is no longer available in Apple Store I am not sure why, I did not even had chance to try to reinstall and Apple said that they can't do anything. Also Adobe says that I can't get any help besides these forums because I have no Serial Number to provide (Apple never provided me this number).
Anyone had a similar situation like mine? I would appreciate to have some help on this.

SERIAL NUMBER FOR MY PRODUCT: The only document I have is the Invoice from Apple/iTunes Store (image below) for my Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor purchase, which I believe makes Apple responsible for my product as well. However, last time I talked to Apple, the advisor who spoke to me said that Apple could not do anything else, since the product was no longer available in their Store. Neversthless, Apple never provided me the serial number for the product, which I bought from Apple Store and downloaded directly to my computer. On the other side, all the times I called Adobe, the representatives could not attend me because I don't have the serial number to provide to it.
What is the present situation
a. Do you have Premiere Elements 11 Editor installation files saved to your computer?
Ans: It disappeared from Apple Store in my computer and from iTunes Store as well. However, the software was in my computer before as can be seen in the images below:
b. Is Premiere Elements 11 Editor currently installed on your computer?
Ans: It was installed in my computer when I bought it, and I did use it in 2 occasions. However, after I started to face the problem trying to open the software and use it, Apple advised me to change my Operational System from Mavericks to Mac OS X Lion 10.7 to be able to work with Adobe Premiere Elements 11, since it could be facing problems with Mavericks. After have installed Mac OS X Lion, I tried to install Adobe Premiere again, but now it is not even possible to do from the Apple Store.
c. If you went to http://www.adobe.com, signed in there with your Adobe ID and Password, and went to My Products, do you see your Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor listed there and does it include the serial number?
Ans: My Adobe ID doesn't show Adobe Premiere, so that's one more reason why I don't have the serial number for my product. The only document I have for it is the Apple Store invoice and through it I can't have other number besides the order # or invoice # from Apple.
d. Miscellaneous...Did you ever have QuickTime installed on your computer with the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor?...Are your computer preferences and privileges OK?...What is your current computer operating system?
Ans: I used to have my Quick Time when I used Adobe Premiere in my computer. Since came back to Mac OS X Lion 10.7, many softwares were lost when the Operating System was changed.
I hope I have provided enough information, but please let me know if you have any questions.

Did you change your credit card (or billing address) details on your iTunes account, and did you have problems changing them or changed them 10 times ? Each time that you change your details a small temporary store holding charge (which I think is €1.98) may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

Are you buying from the correct Print Products Store? If you are using the wrong store, your AppleID may not be valid.
Is the Print Products Store set correctly in iPhoto Preferences > Advanced? It should be set to the same country as your billing address and delivery address, and match the settings of the Apple ID you are using.
And you are using iPhoto '09 or '11, right? you can no longer buy books from earlier versions.
When you reenter your settings as LarryHN described, don't forget to enable Express Checkout. It is required.

Can I get a 10.7 lion install file anywhere? Apple no longer has it in the Apple Store despite the fact I paid for it.

Thanks, Dominic. I got caught up in thinking that Lion wasn't available after a conversation with a chat person. My real problem was that I'd already purchased Lion and my purchase history didn't go back far enough to show that. When you gave me the link to Lion on the Apple Store it jogged my brain back into rationality. Thanks.

Problem with my iPod touch: Frozen screen, unable to access anything as slider does not work, will not accept a full restore. Apple Store advised that it is a 'hardware' problem and I could trade-in!

I am a relatively 'new' user. Touch was a gift, I used it in a simplistic way - listened to music took a few photos, added a few calendar events. After a year I then decided to be more proactive and found a few free apps (Solitaire) - then had a the frozen screen problem which I though was connected to low battery, but it wasn't. I recharged it, still could not access, then tried a full restore and got an error message. Took it to a Genius Bar and was told it was a hardware problem and as it is out of warranty I could trade in or just buy a different product. As this is my first Apple product is this usual? Do Apple products have a very short shelf life - I anticipated that it would last me longer than a year! Has anyone else had this problem? Was it able to be resolved? Or is it worth trying to get it repaired - and if so who can do it - Apple Store did not offer that to me as an option?

Sure sounds like a hardware problem. It happens some times. The iPod is just an electrical device.
Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one for this price. Apple does not repair your iPod.

Problem after updating to iTunes 10.5 on Windows Vista.. I can no longer access the iTunes store..

After updating to iTunes 10.5 on Windows Vista I have found that I can no longer access the iTunes store... I am left with a blank iTunes screen with the loading bar stuck at halfway..
All other features seem to work... only opening the iTunes store is failing..
I have ran the diagnostics feature and this says everything is ok, so I'm a bit stuck

The "netsh winsock reset" command worked like a charm for my machine (running Windows XP SP3). I have had two weeks of frustration with this issue and finally found your post which got me back online with the iTunes store. My problem accessing the iTunes store began once I downloaded and installed iTunes 10.5 in preparation to upgrade to OS5. Once 10.5 was installed, I could open iTunes and access everything except the store (which prevented any of my devices from being able to sync). I followed all of the suggestions that I could find in Apple Support and the suggestions that I was emailed from Apple's support techs. I unistalled all Apple software and reinstalled iTunes multiple times, and still could not access the store.
Your suggestion is the only "cure" that I have found.

Since upgrading to iOS8 iTunes no longer recognizes my iPhone5 when I connect to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5. Thus, these features are no longer available. When I click on the DEVICES tab, the window is dim, and will therefore not allow me to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5 on my iMac. I use iTune 11.4 and iOS8.

After the first install of iOS8 my iPhone5 locked up with a picture of a cord connected to a device linking to iTunes. After taking my iPhone5 to the Apple Store, an Expert was able to get my phone operational again. However, when I returned home I found I no longer had options in iTunes to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5. I suspect that ITunes does not recognize my IPhone any longer. For the past 1.5 years I have no problems updating or syncing my iPhone…it was only after I upgraded to iOS8 last week.
