Long "Internet" address stored in Frequent Contacts

GroupWise 8.0HP2 on Windows 2008 servers
I have some users who report that addresses for internal people are being stored in a weird format. I've emailed the same people and their normal (internal) name/address is what gets stored in my Frequent Contacts.
What causes this address format to be stored in a user's Frequent Contacts address book: "[email protected]".[email protected], even though that recipient is an internal person?
Their regular Internet email address ([email protected]) may also be stored in the same Frequent Contacts book. Each is identified with the same person and, depending on which way their address book is sorted, determines which one is at the top of the list when they are offered to choose the address to use.

  • Wrong email address gets added to frequent contacts

    8.0.3-103395 GW Server on SLES 10 SP3
8.0.3-108711 GW Client von WinXP SP3
The issue is related to just one useraccount, no matter if in caching or online mode and it appeared suddenly without a known change to the systems.
Changed GW client Version, hostsystem, GW mode, other accounts got no issues with the affected recipient.
GWchecks to fix structure + index / contents of the accounts have been completed without any improvement.
Addressing a specific external email recipient per "cc" creates a wrong frequent contacts entry. If addressing the recipient per "to" field, everything works fine. The tooltip shows the correct email address when moving over in the cc field but the email will be send to the wrong address.
The recipients email address looks like this: [email protected]
The frequent contacts entry looks like this: [email protected]
If the contact's email address got corrected, the wrong contact gets created again after sending any further email with the recipient per "cc".
How does a internal postoffice/domain name gets mixed up into an external email address?
    regards

That would make a good difference in this. Thank you for reporting
    back.
And your initial reporting of the issue was great and appropriate
detail, if only others would do at least half as well as you do it
would be so much easier to help here. Thank you.

I have a new iPad. I am using Comcast as my email provider but when I send a message, it pulls up the facebook email addresses for my  contacts  instead of the addresses stored in my comcast account.  How can I get rid of the Facebook email addresses? The comcast addresses are stored in the comcast (xfinity) app.  I do not use the "mail" or "contacts" apps ....I go straight to comcast (xfinity).  I wish I could start over!!!  thanks.
    iPad

I could be wrong, but it sounds like Facebook imported to your contacts.  I have the Xfinity app on my new ipad, too, but none of my stored contacts from the online version are showing, only what I manually entered into the iPads contacts are there.  When I did add the FB app, I did not grant it permission to push and pull from my ipad (not a fan of FB knowing every detail about me), so that may be where our difference lies.  You could try to open the app and change your privacy settings, or delete it and then reinstall without granting permissions to integrate.
I'm sure someone here with a lot more knowledge then me can probably diagnose your issue better, though.  Good luck!

  • I have an iphone 4s which I recently updated to iOS 7.0.4. Now my contacts no longer show addresses or notes, although the phone numbers are displayed. All the correct information is still in iCloud, but how do I get the Contacts folder to show all info?

Since I updated to iOS 7.0.4 on my iphone 4S, I can no longer see addresses or notes in my contacts on my phone. The information still exists in iCloud online.  How do I get full contact info onto my phone?
There is another problem which may be related.  My desktop computer at work is running Windows 7, and I was recently upgraded to Office 2013.  Outlook is not showing contacts on my computer any more, just in iCloud.  However, when in iCloud, it does included addresses and notes, so I don't think this is caused by the same error as the iphone problem,
I have refreshed, reinstalled and rebooted, to no avail.

I would say that you would want to look into the "Exchange Mode" for GMail.  That would allow your iPhone to sync calendars, contacts and email with GMail just fine.  Doing the same with your outlook should also then sync those same with your PC using Outlook.  I've done teh iPhone side of this, but I since I don't run Lookout for my email client, I'm not sure how that will work on the PC side.

  • How do I edit my list of www addresses that show up when I put a w in the Internet address field? I need to get rid of one.

When the first Firefox screen appears, there is a long rectangular box at the top to put the Internet address into. If you put a w in that box, you automatically show a list of Internet addresses that I previously used (apparently based upon number of uses, most used first).
In that list which appears, I have an address in which I made a mistake of one character. I want to get rid of that address with a mistake in it.
How can I get rid of that erroneous address?

  • Address Book and Google Contacts...?

What's the story with syncing Address Book with Google Contacts?
I set it up once, but since then it has not been able to syncronise changes made to either AB or GC (nb. even after clicking the sync button).
Is there a trick to maintaining syncronisation???

Now I'm no longer using the address book application, so answering this question would be pointless.

    Hi IntelcomGR,
Would you please let us know current situation of this issue? Did you refer to Binu Kumar's suggestion and check SharePoint on the SBS server? Any find?
I also suggest that you should run
SBS BPA tool to check the status of the SBS server. Meanwhile, please run
sfc /scannow command to scan all protected system files.
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
    Bes regards,

  • How do I delete email addresses not in my contact list?

My phone seems to be storing every email address I send to. When I create a new message and start to type in an address it brings up every email address I have ever sent to including those I only used one time. How do I delete these email addresses and prevent the phone from storing addresses not in my contacts?

I posted something on this a few months ago. Hopefully Apple updates the OS to allow for editing the cache. I have done it in Mail on my mac for years when the list stores old and/or outdated email addresses. It is definitely nice to be able to clean this list up so that A) you don't make mistakes, and B) you don't have to sift through a bunch of useless email addresses in order to get to the one you are looking for.
It is especially annoying when you have an email address that has a mistake in it, such as having one letter off by accident. Then, it is stored forever and you have to avoid choosing it every time you want to send to that recipient.
I really hope Apple fixes this simple issue with an update. One thing that I can't quite figure out is why the iPhone engineers didn't build into the iPhone some of the great features of the Mac. Another example of this is in Contacts. Contacts is like Address Book, but it doesn't quite let you do everything that Address Book Does. Don't get me wrong because it is close. For example, when you want to add a new field, you don't have the same amount of the choices on the iPhone that you have in Address Book. Now why should this be? How hard could it be (and what problems could possibly arise out of) making these the same? What is the point of MobileMe and instant syncing if when creating a new contact on your iPhone, you still have to go into Address Book and add information? Also, why shouldn't you be able to store the same amount of information in your iPhone Contacts that you store in your Macs Address Book?
For a company like Apple who is so detailed oriented to overlook these kinds of details is confusing to me.

safari cant open "macappstores://itunes.apple.com/webobjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=9150 41082&mt=12&ls=1&ign-msr=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.apple.com%2Fosx%2F" because Mac OS X doesn't recognize internet addresses starting with "macappstores"

    Please help! What is wrong?

You are probably going to want to upgrade your memory (RAM). While 2 GB is the stated minimum, realistically 4 GB seems to be the consensus minimum. More is better.
The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a machine supposedly limited to 4 GB.

  • How do I export addresses stored in a word document to my MacBook Address Book?

I have all my mailing addresses stored in a Word Doc and want to export them to my MacBook address book.

    Hi Jujudal,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has information on the types of files you can import addresses into Contacts for Mac:
Contacts: Export and import your contacts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11586
Import one or more contacts (from a file other than a vCard)
You can import contact information that you saved or exported from other apps. The files can be in LDAP Interchange Format (LDIF) or text format (tab-delimited or comma-separated value (CSV)).
If you’re importing a tab-delimited or CSV file, verify it using a text editor such as TextEdit.
Remove any line breaks within a contact’s information. Line breaks can cause the import to fail.
Make sure that fields in a tab-delimited file are separated by a tab, instead of by another character. Don’t include spaces before or after tabs.
Make sure that fields in a CSV file are separated by a comma, instead of by another character. Don’t include spaces before or after commas.
Make sure all addresses have the same number of fields. Add empty fields as needed.
In Contacts, choose File > Import, select the file, change the encoding if necessary, and then click Open.
If you’re importing a text file, review the field labels. You can change field labels, or ignore or not import fields.
If the first card contains headers, make sure the headers are correctly labeled or marked “Do not import.” Any changes you make to this card are made in all of the cards in the file. To not import the headers card, select the “Ignore first card” checkbox.
To change a label, click the arrows next to the label and choose a new label. If you don’t want to import a field, choose “Do not import.”
If a contact has custom fields, the information in the fields isn’t imported.
When you import contacts into an Exchange account, information that isn’t supported in Contacts is added to the Notes field.
If you import a duplicate contact card, Contacts asks if you want to review the cards. For more information, see this Contacts help topic:
Resolve duplicate contact cards when importing contacts

  • Why can't I find an Existing Contact in Frequent Contacts?

I am using the following function to find a contact in my frequent contacts and it dosn't work.
Any ideas why this doesn't work? Is my syntax wrong?
    Thanks!!
//cFilter is parsed to equal the following:
    (<First Name> MATCHES "John" AND <Last Name> MATCHES "Aarons")
//and there is a John Aarons in the contact list.
    GroupwareTypeLibrary.Addresses addrs;
    try
    addrs = abook.AddressBookEntries.Find(cFilter);
    catch (System.Exception ex)
    bc.OKMessage(ex.Message);
    return false;

The team, which is responsable for the AddOn site should have a very close look to that. What you tell, happens to me some time ago. In my case, the widget finally was downloaded some days later together with another widget.

  • Azure Virtual Machine cannot connect to Internet addresses following update on 8/7/2014

I've got a Windows Server 2012 virtual machine running in Azure that prior to system updates that were rolled out last week could connect to Internet addresses such as Yahoo.com without issue. I do not currently have any virtual networks configured for this
Azure tenant nor have I modified any of its network settings, so the VM was making the connections with its default network configuration. On August 7, 2014 I rebooted the virtual machine to apply some required system updates to the operating system, and following
that reboot the VM could not longer connect to the Internet. I am able to lookup domains in DNS, but cannot ping those domains from the command line or open web sites via a browser.
I've released its IPconfig via the command line and rebooted the server multiple times, both from within a remote desktop connection and from the Azure Management Portal, but these actions have not resolved the issue.
Are there additional configuration steps I need to take to reconnect this VM to Internet sites, or has something changed which requires me to make further changes?
    Thank you,
    John

Just to close this out, I've been able to resolve the issue. It looks like somehow a Windows Update changed the proxy server settings in Internet Options on the server, and that was preventing traffic from successfully leaving the server. Once I removed
that setting, the issue was resolved.
