Long, long loading time after installing bootcamp to OSX
I installed bootcamp on my Mac OSX (MBP) in order to have access to Windows 7 programs. After a week, OSX was really really slow loading. After searching online, I decided to turn Spotlight off from searching partitioned drives. This worked great until today - it's happening again. I can't even open applications on OSX its so slow and the multi coloured pinwheel is constantly spinning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have to go out and buy a second laptop because of this...
How much is free, relatively (it may be 250 free bot free out of what?).
OSX needs 15% free to use during routine operations. Doing BootCamp must account for this 15%.
Just asking again annd stating why to be sure.

Why am I experiencing long lag times after installing Mavericks?
I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks on my Mac Mini; Why am I experiencing long lag times?
Not enough free disk space can cause the lag times...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage. Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
Do you have anti virus software, MacKeeper, and CleanMyMac installed?
Checked the disk lately?
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important files first before using OS X Recovery. -
Windows would not load anymore after installing bootcamp drivers
Hello,
I had been running Mountain Lion and Windows 8 flawlessly for many months until I ran out of Hard drive space on the Windows side so I decided to wipe both hard drives (put one in place of disk drive) and start with clean installs of both (poor life decision). I had a heck of a time installing windows 8 this time since I longer had a internal SuperDrive. But I fonally got it to install after many hours trying to do it via a usb drive. It installed properly from an external drive and rEFIt. Immediately after installing Windows 8 I installed the latest bootcamp drivers and played inwindows 8 for an hour or so but installed nothing else. after powering down Windows 8 will no longer load I am assuming due do an issue with bootcamp drivers although it may be a fluke since it was working before. I am guessing I just need to try again but after all the headaches I figured I would post here and see if anyone had any thoughts or solutions.
Thank You,
David M.XP is an old and non-supported by Microsoft operating system. So there is no support, security updates, etc. Why are you installing XP?
Whenever you install any version of Windows you need to install anti virus. Microsoft Security Essentials is all you need and it is free. -

Feb 17, 2015, 05:36:32 PM Self test - passedPlease read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Shut down from safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
Long loading times for Safari on iPad Air with iOS8
I've had long loading times in Safari sInce upgrading to iOS8 on my iPad Air 128 GB. Are any of you having the same experience?
Sometimes I question myself, how come that iOS being held in beta for over quarter or even over a half a year, and most certainly long enough in alpha, still comes out so much raw and buggy every release? Sometimes it feels like it's only getting worse concerning the debugging.
I wanted to address the HR manager of the Apple Inc. to query him/her about HIS/HER dedication to the overall work being done. Why, the ****, does Safari get slow, why, the ****, is it unpredictable to define whether a sound stream in Safari's tab will end upon tab closure or not. Morever, why do iPhone iMessages fail to mark a message or a chain as a read one even thought you just really did it. Beyond that miriad of similar questions I have just another three, since when is it official Apple support position to advise you to wipe out your device and install everything back from iTunes, not the cloud? But what is more important, how come that support representative tells you first to back up your buggy iPad, wipe it out and restore from that backup both with iTunes? Finally, we all know how Apple does cherish it's developers, can somebody tell me how, for heavens sake, this website ever possible to exist then — Texts From Xcode?
I don't want neither need to mention that switching between tabs in iOS7 (I have had no chance to test it in iOS8) in Safari never gave you any sure answer whether your tab will be reloaded when you get back or not: whether have you copy any post before leaving, to paste back on return or not.
After all I do still love Apple, I do love people's ideas. I do love the overall outcome, but I want to tell Mr. Cook one phrase I heard when I used to be a head of a department in a medium size company and had to deal with continuous fails of the personnel and most often ended up doing much things myself, it was not the exact situation as with Apple although I hope you can trace a path: If a manager has to do anything besides managing he or she failed to manage one major issue — the personnel one. -
Long load times and poor application performance
We have packaged and deployed Adobe CC using SCCM within my school division. It pushed out fine, but now when we attempt to open Photoshop (or any other CC app) it has unusually long load times. 2-4 minutes. It seems to be hanging at the "Reading preferences" stage. After the application appears to have started, it takes an unusually long time to actually start working in the application (it appears to just hang).
Hello There,
EXE's always bundle additional files because it is a stand-alone entity. And, if the size 9GB then it will surely take time to load all the files. I'll check with the team again on how we can optimize it. BTW, are the videos inserted as slide video or Event video?
Thanks,
Vish -
Long Load Times on Graphic Intensive Games
I'm experiencing some absurdly long load times (1-3 hours) with many games (SPORE, Portal, X:3, etc...) that I believe may be related to how graphically intensive they are. Older games with lower graphics quality (WoW, Civ 4, etc...) load up fine.
When I load any newer game the icon appears in the tray and the computer does nothing else for at least an hour, whereupon the program loads and begins playing immediately--often without any further delays or issues.
I also use Boot Camp to run Windows Vista (Ultimate 32) and experience no delays when running SPORE on Windows.

I recently upgraded to 10.6.7 and Safari 5.05. Safari now has a long load time when you initially boot it up and when selecting a new tab. Other than that it works fine. What can I do ?
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
If it's not Extensions, check for third party Safari add ons.

Long loading time if no internet connection available (VS 2005 Redist)
Hallo forum members!
I've been searching for a solution for my problem for a while - without success. It isn't really a critical issue, but quite annoying anyways.
Here's the problem i'm dealing with: I've developed an .NET application using Visual Studio 2005 and the included Crystal Report classes. When deploying my module everything works as expected, offering a decent performance when loading the Crystal Report assemblies provided by the redistributable package - if an internet connection is available. If the system doesn't offer such a connection (e.g. not properly configured proxy settings) the module takes a huge amount of time to be loaded. An examination (using ProcMon) leaded to the conclusion that the Crystal Report assemblies try to retrieve the system connection settings from the registry in order to establish a connection to the internet. This is done only once when loading for the first time.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? What is this connection used for? Is there a way to suppress this behaviour on systems without a valid internet connection in order to avoid this annoying long loading time?
Thanks on advance for your help.
Greetings,
L.F.Nothing like a good vacation. And I got your christmas present early :). While you were away we (actually one other customer) figured it out. I have written a note re. the resolution that was supposed to be published yesterday, but it's still not out there, so here it is as I submitted it:
Symptom
When a report is loaded is takes between 150 - 180 seconds to display
This is only reproducible on computers with no internet connection
There are no error messages and the report comes up eventually
Reproducing the Issue
Create a Windows application with the following function calls:
new Report()
report.SetDataSource(dataSet)
The function SetDataSource takes 2 plus minutes to execute
Cause
On SetDataSource() an attempt is made to connect to crl.verisign.com
SetDataSource() uses the framework and as per the Microsoft Knowledge Base specified under "Resolution", it is actually the framework that is attempting the connection
Resolution
Solution is described in this Microsoft Knowlege Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936707
The following Microsoft article also discusses the issue:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629393.aspx
An alternative workaround to the above is as follows:
Open IE and go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...
Go to the Advanced tab
Find the Security heading
Under the Security heading find "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
Uncheck this option
Keywords
long time load crl.verisign.com certificate revoked internet
The note will be published here:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-notes
and the number will be 1270414

Can no longer send mail after installing Yosemite
can no longer send mail after installing Yosemite
Hi nwpmike,
When I uncheck "SSL" it's working well, but it's not very secure. When I leave SSL, I got in "Connection Doctor" the message "Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct.", only for the SMTP. For the IMAP, the status in Green. It's also working well on the iPhone 6 with ios8 and other mac with OS X 10.9 and previous versions.
The only thing that can be involved is that the certificat used by my mail provider is expired.
With connection docteur, there is a button "Show Details". Here is the conversation when connecting to the smtp.

Long loading times and jerky playback
Hello,
I work often with Adobe Premiere CS6 but got an annoying problem.
When I have a project with many clips in the sequence, than I got really long loading times and often the playback is jerky
Is there a function, which reduces the loading times and/or the jerky playback?
I already used "Remove Unused" and "Delete Render Files".
Is it helpful to split the clips to serveral sequences and put all clips together at the end?
My computer specifications:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (2,8 GHz Hexa-Core)
RAM: 8 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333 MHz (2 GB reserved for other applications)
HDD with Adobe Premiere CS6: Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC064MAG
HDD with videoclips: first Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (HD103SJ)
HDD with projects: second Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (HD103SJ)
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit)
Is there a bottleneck at my hardware?
Thanks a lot!

Ive just upgraded my late 2009 macbook, and things are not working properly. First of all, when I started the computer first time after installing Mountain Lion, some message advised me that some files were impossible to install. Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!We're sorry.

CLOSED: MAPVIEWER LONG PREPARATION TIME AFTER LONG IDLE TIME
SR # 6896831.994
Customer: NEDGRAPHICS BV
Mapviewer Release: 9.0.4
This issue was posted to the Field Service Forum. They responded with
For Map, we do create the datasource and related maps, themes, styles to be used for Map. The exeuction part is done by Mapviewer and we don't have much control on the mapviewer code on performance tuning point of view.
Please post this question in mapviewer forum
Issue:
After MapViewer being idle for some time (+/- 60 minutes) it takes a long time to generate the first map image --> 5 minutes.
In the MapViewer logfile with log-level=finest, I see that there is a very long preparation time.
After producing the first map image the next (same!) image is produced very fast.
What could be the reason?
What does MapViewer do during "preparation"?
Customer statement:
I am a very experienced Oracle specialist and a very experienced MapViewer developer.
Could you please pass on my request to the MapViewer developers?
I have to know what is going on during preparation time.
Is there a possibility to get more detailed logging of the preparation time?

UPDATE from customer
================
The first time after long idle time it takes between 100 and 300 seconds.
After that it takes less than 2 seconds.
Can it be a dabase connection issue?
Will it make a difference if I use a database connection via data-sources.xml
instead of a direct data-source in mapviewerConfig.xml?
This is what I mean :
Method 1:
<map_data_source name="NBG"
jdbc_host="plutonium"
jdbc_sid="ods"
jdbc_port="1521"
jdbc_user="nbgex"
jdbc_password="ELvaJ7axzKQl0aKtjikuKT7JUFTjukU3"
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="3"
/>
Method 2:
<map_data_source name="NBG"
container_ds="jdbc/NBG"
number_of_mappers="3"
/>
data-sources.xml:
<data-source
class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
name="NBG"
location="jdbc/OracleCache"
ejb-location="jdbc/NBG"
xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
username="nbgex"
password="nbgex
url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@plutonium:1521:ods"
inactivity-timeout="30">
<property name="connectionCacheName" value="ICC"/>
<property name="connectionCachingEnabled" value="true"/>
<property name="fastConnectionFailoverEnabled" value="true"/>
</data-source>

====================
The database is restarted once a day in the morning. That could explain the problems in the morning. But there are also problems during day time after some hours of idle time when the database in not restarted.
After testing we noticed that we don't have the problem if we use database connection through OC4J (data-sources.xml).
If we use that method every database connection is cleaned up if it is not used for 15 seconds or so.
If we use the other method (database connection in mapviewerconfig.xml) then the database connection is open for a long time and then we have the problem with the long preparation time.
This problem only occurs in a DMZ environment. MapViewer is installed on a DMZ server and connects through the firewall with a intranet database.
Is it possible that the firewall software prevents communication of an open database connection after a long period of idle time?

Longer loading time when the version is changed.
Hi all,
When i load the VI in LabVIEW 8.2 which is originally developed in 7.1 or 8, it takes longer time to load compared to a VI that is developed in 8.2 itself. Even after i save that VI in 8.2, i am able to find the diffterence in loading time.
For e.g, if we place a VI that is originally developed in 7.1 and saved in 8.2. if you have that VI as a subVI in another VI, and click that subVI icon to open its front panel, it take around 5 seconds to open it is FP. Where as the VI developed in 8.2 opens less than a second. It happens always. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
logicJeff,
Thank you very much for the reply. But i feel something more than that is causing this problem. Even the VIs that has no subVIs inside is seems to be hang moment. I feel there is always a difference between carried over VIs from earlier version of LabVIEW and the new VI developed in the latest Version. Saving a VI or saving all the VIs makes a VI identical to a new VI developed in the same version in all respects? I doubt it. Only NI can answer that.
I have attached a sample VI, Place this in a block diagram of a new VI of the LabVIEW 8.2. Do the following Action repeat manner.
1. Double click the icon (To open the Sub VI's Front panel)
2. Ctrl + E (Open the Block diagram of the Sub VI)
3. Ctrl + W (Close the Block diagram of the Sub VI)
4. Ctrl + W (Close the FP of the Sub VI)
5. Move the position of a Sub VI in the Block diagram, do 1 to 4.
When i repeat this again and again, i can feel the momentary hang at least once in five steps. Let me know whether you can feel this issue.
Thanks,
logic

Hi all,
since the Yosemite update and the sequential patch, I've been experiencing lots and lots of issues with this releade
I posses a
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)

After a week after the Yosemite update my Mac just froze, and for a couple of days I was unable to access it. after 4 attempts of Clean install i was finally able to restore it. but the issue with long booting time and free after sleep/wake action are the same .
I'm experiencing strange icons during boot as follows:
Only after a second reboot and clearing ram with Cmd+Alt+P+R i'm able to get rid of this , and the reboot shows this
That after 5 mins changes into this
This routine keeps happening, every single time i have to restart my mac.
Any suggestions?
tnksWell , i guess i a HDD issue, when i was experiencing the initial issues with yosemite , I've installed the system an external Hdd and everything was working fine.
