If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents – the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.

  • Power button shutdown

I used to have my power button set up to initiate shutdown. Since upgrade to Mavericks, it just does some hibernate thing immediately and I can't find where to change it back. Thanks!

Press and hold the power button for a while for the dialog box to pop up
or hold control key and press power button.
    When the dialog box appears
press r for restart, u for shutdown and s for sleep.

  • My new mac mini with Maverick does not go to deep sleep even if i press power button or Apple-Sleep mode.

    Hi.
I have my new mac mini with Maverick that does not go to deep sleep even if i press power button or menu Apple-Sleep mode. He goes only to something like stand-by  (power lid is on; after i turn off and then turn on the power he does not wake up just starting). I tried "sudo pmset -a hibernatemode X", tried mode 0,1,3, and even 25. nothing helps. he goes to deep sleep (when all data on HDD) only first time after i change hibernatemode couple times and force it to sleep. Today i even tried to force it to sleep (menu Apple-Sleep mode) and NOT turn off the power for whole night, in the morning he is in this "stand-by" mode anyway.
Could anyone help me please? i need it sleep but don't want to keep my power on for whole night.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

I keeping getting the following message coming up on my Mac Mini "Press power button and restart your computer". I have a G4 Mac mini and it boots up fine and runs ok for about 10 mins however after that time (if left) the message comes up. I restart the machine and the same thing happens again.

Isolate the cause as my FAQ suggests. Backup, or recover your data first*

  • Why Apple doesn't provide options in IOS to power off, reset, standby ipad/iPhone/ipod ? I don't se this opiton in IOS6 as well ? This option will help to avoid pressing power button less number of times and gives better user experience.

    They do.
Standby = press the Power button
Power off = Press and hold Power button then slide the red power off slider.
Reset = Press and hold both Reset adn Home till you see the Apple logo.
This option will help to avoid pressing power button less number of times and gives better user experience.
Because it is better to not push the power button and more enjoyable to not push it?

  • NB205 - Blank screen if I press power button

    Hello,
I have problem with my NB205 bl-325, that if I press power button then it will load TOSHIBA logo and after that comes blank screen and it wont start to boot. Everything was okay if i used it last time.
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
    What I tried?
I gathered some information about that issue, and I found that sometimes helps if I remove battery and remove RAM. And if I have been removed ram, then I will give some electritvy on it, but this didnt helped. (maybe i missed some part)? Also i checked from my BIOS that primary boot is my Harddrive.
My problem looks same like in that video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCm6BozBgAM&feature=related
Does anyone have any suggestions about that?
    regards, Olari

    Hi buddy,
That means you need professional help from an authorized service provider because its a hardware malfunction and the guys must check your notebook.
You can find a list of all authorized service providers on the official Toshiba website. So just get in contact with the guys and ask for help.
    Good luck! :)

  • How to shutdown WinPE by pressing power button.

    Hello everybody,
I encounter a issue in WinPE that is pressing power switch in WinPE can not be detected, unless you press it and hold for 4 seconds to force shutdown, or use command: wpeutil shutdown.
In generally, we can use above two methods to shutdown PC in WinPE. but now I have to use power button to shutdown it (not force shutdown) due to I'm using equipment to test the stability of PC power cycling.
Somebody could tell me how to make it work? Thank you very much!!!!

    Might try them over here.

  • Cannot shutdown by pressing power button

    Hi,
I have SunFire v120 S10 server which doesn't react to pressing the power button. Normally it should send 'powerfail' signal and run 'init 5' to poweroff the machine. I don't know how to debug this problem. Server is running core system packages only, perhabs some daemons/libs are missing?
    Regards
    Tom.

I have the same problem with a Sun Blade 150. If anyone knows the reason why pressing the power button does not initiate shutdown, please let me know.
FYI, /etc/inittab has not been modified and still contains the standard powerfail entry.

try do ec reset [remove power cord and battery for 5 min]
then plug them back and see how its goes,
if no change send it back for repair, RMA it
    Svet, your answer is 100%
That's the only way I know of, and if that doesnt work, the only option is an ram.

Mac book pro mid 2009 shuts down after a few hour of use and then is very difficult to reboot. Sometimes I have to wait hours, sometimes I have to repeatedly press the power button and then it will slowly start a little longer each press untill it completely boots. It has done this three times know.  Each time I was watching a video.

Try running the Apple Hardware Test - sounds as if you've hardware issues.
