LONG SHOT BUT - Football Manager 2009

Hi,
I used to play this on my mac on a regular basis, I had issues with my mac and had to reboot it some time ago... I have tried to load FM 2009 and it loads onto the system OK but wont work i.e. when I click the link it bounces and then doesnt come on!?
Anyone had this before?
Any suggestions will be greeted with open arms

If reinstalling hasn't worked I have seen an obscure problem in the past where a particular App when installed changed the Time Zone in System Preferences/Date & Time/Time Zone and where changing the Time Zone back to the correct setting enabled the App to work. Might be worth a look.

  • Playing football manager 2009 on macbook

    morning all.
    i have football manager 2009 which i love and used to play on my old dell laptop. i have now moved onto an apple macbook which is brilliant but i don't seem to be able to play my football manager game. on the front cover it has the mac logo so i can't get my head around it.
    any ideas?

    Football Manager 2009 runs fine on my MacPro under 10.5.6 so rest assured it does indeed work on Apple hardware/software.
    Depending on the graphics hardware your Macbook features you may not be able to use the 3d match engine I'm not 100% sure but I believe the aluminum unibody Macbooks released in October 2008 and the White Macbook released January 2009 should all be able to run the game with the 3d match engine, Prior to these machines I think the integrated graphics used by the Macbook line aren't powerful enough (or just not supported) to run the 3d Match engine.
    It would be worth going to http://community.sigames.com/ and making a post in the mac tech support section their forums sigames employees (including the Managing Director) are there as moderators and they really do care about the product the put out so help should be forthcoming. If you don't get a reply there after a day or so maybe pm one of the moderators to bring it to their attention (since the mac section probably gets less posts and thus attention paid it).
    Best of luck,
    Chris

  • 3GS battery exploded. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know if I took it to an apple store if they'd be able to get my photos off it? Or are they long gone?

    The iPod's battery may be shot, especially after going without use for a couple of months.  And yes, you can bring it to your local Apple store to have them take a look at it.  They'll be able to determine what your options are.

  • Long shot, but can iphoto do this type of editting?

    when i mentioned that i really liked 2 of my wedding pictures, but i hated that my arm looked big from the angle, my wedding photographer said he could "liquify" the arm and make it look a bit thinner.
    i just saw the changes and it's subtle, but totally amazing. now is there a tool on iPhoto that could do something similar to this?
    thanks!

    The retouch tool in iPhoto's edit mode can approximate what you want to do depending on the background around the part you want to modify. Admittedly it's crude but might be coaxed into doing what you want. However, Terence's recommendation of Photoshop Elements for Mac is the best solution. It not only can get rid of double chins butunwanted ex's and backgrounds. .
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • It's a long shot, but can you help?

    Would anyone possibly be able to call an O2 number 10 times and see if it successfully rings every time?
    I know it's a strange thing to ask and I doubt anyone would want to but if you're able to (maybe you have a phone on each network?) it'd be a great help.
    I'm 90% certain there is a problem with Orange + O2 networks connecting at the moment.

    I want to thank Allan Sampson and Dr Simie for helping me.  I was finally able to reset my iphone 4s.  FYI:  When I was trying to sync my iphone with my car, I now realize I put a passcode on my iphone which I had never put one on it before.  Anyway, I kept working on freeing up more disk space on my computer and to make a long story short, I was up past 2am working on this, but finally my iphone is restored and I have all my stuff.  I now have a passcode which I am sure to not forget.  Like I said, I've never had a passcode before, but I kind of like the security of it.  So I think I'll go ahead and keep it.
    So again, I'd like to thank you for steering me in the right direction.

  • One more..kinda a long shot but would appreciate it

    k, i have one more peice of code for this asignment, it is the:
    public int calculatePayPerHour()
    what it does : Calculates a models per-hour pay rate and returns the amount. Everyone receives a base rate of 60$ per hour (BASE_RATE). Tall, thin, models receive an extra 5$ per hour (TALL_THIN_BONUS). Tall means 67 inches or more (TALL_INCHES), thin means less than 140 pounds (THIN_POUNDS). Models who are willing to travel receive an extra 4$ per hour (TRAVEL_BONUS). However, models who smoke have 10$ per hour deducted from their pay (SMOKER_DEDUCTION) this method must invoke the conversion methods, not do the calculations again.
    //////////////////////here is the code:
    * Write a description of class Model here.
    * @author (your name)
    * @version (a version number or a date)
    public class Model
         private static final double INCHES_PER_CENTIMETER = 0.39;
         private static final double POUNDS_PER_KILO = 2.2;
         private static final int INCHES_PER_FOOT = 12;
         private static final int BASE_RATE = 60;
         private static final int TALL_THIN_BONUS = 5;
         private static final int TRAVEL_BONUS = 4;
         private static final int SMOKER_DEDUCTION = -10;
         private String firstName;
         private String lastName;
         private int height;
         private double weight;
         private boolean canTravel;
         private boolean smokes;
         private double feet;
         private double inches;
         // Constructor for objects of class Model
         public Model(String modelFirstName, String modelLastName, int modelHeight, double modelWeight, boolean modelCanTravel, boolean modelSmokes)
              firstName = modelFirstName;
              lastName = modelLastName;
              height = modelHeight;
              weight = modelWeight;
              canTravel = modelCanTravel;
              smokes = modelSmokes;
         public double convertHeightCmToIn()
         return (double)height * INCHES_PER_CENTIMETER ;
         public String convertHeightToFeetInches()
    {  double inches = convertHeightCmToIn();
    double feet = inches / INCHES_PER_FOOT;
    inches = inches % INCHES_PER_FOOT;
    return(feet+" feet "+inches+" inches");
    public double convertWeightKgToPounds()
         return (double)weight * POUNDS_PER_KILO ;
    // FROM HERE DOWN calculate pay per hour -
         public int calculatePayPerHour()
         public void print()
         System.out.println("name:"+" firstName " + "lastName");
         System.out.println(feet+" feet "+inches+" inches");
         System.out.println(weight);
    }

    like all this stuff
    private static final int BASE_RATE = 60;
    private static final int TALL_THIN_BONUS = 5;
    private static final int TRAVEL_BONUS = 4;
    private static final int SMOKER_DEDUCTION = -10;Those are not methods. They're variables. You use them like you would any other variable. Judging by their names, when you calling payPerHour, you'd test whether that model smokes, is tall and thin, etc. and add these values to the and add those values that apply to whatever the base rate is.

  • Might be a long shot but still need to know....!?!?

    Hi.
    I have version 6.0.4.2 of iTunes on a back up drive with all of my music files as well. I had to replace the hard drive on my laptop and so far have not reinstalled iTunes yet. From what I understand I CANNOT have everything reinstalled (playlists and all) from this version of iTunes it is too old. However, I am wondering is there a file I can look for on the back up that will have all of the playlists I had from the previous install? Even if I have to do it manually it's better than losing all of those playlists all together...
    THANK YOU!!!!

    It is still named iTunesLibrary.itl.
    With v6 you cannot do a shift start. You have to put the itl file in the default location.

  • This is a long shot, but...

    Does anyone know what kind of SSD is in the MB Pro? I'm particularly interested in finding out if it's MLC-based or SLC-based.
    Thank you.

    The MacBook Pro is equipped with an SATA drive, not solid state (unless you have one especially configured for you).

  • I cant fing my ipod, its in the house,is there anyway i can locate it from cumputor?? lol long shot

    ok try again, i cant find my ipod touch, its in my house, is there any way i can locate it using my computor????i know its a long shot, but if i dont ask i wont know...

    It might be possible if you had the Find My iPod Touch app installed on it.  If it's a 4G iPod Touch, you could try calling yourself via FaceTime if you had that set up as well.  If the volume is up high enough or you are close enough in proximity, you might be able to hear it.
    Otherwise, there really aren't any other ways of using your computer to help locate it.  Sorry.

  • I'm new to Mac, I recently downloaed steam for my husbands football manager game, having run ok for a few weeks it will no longer allow him to start up his game.I got help once it worked once but will not again....help please!!

    We're retired,new to IMac, I downloaded Steam for my husbands football manager 2011.It ran successfully for few weeks, but now will not allow him to start up his game.I got help from the mac team and it worked for one day but again has the same fault....help please

    Your download or install of the update may have been corrupt. Visit the Mac App Store and re-download the update or visit http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1726 and download the 10.9.2 update combo and re-install.
    If that fails to solve the problem please post back and post a EtreCheck Report which you can locate at:

    You are running 10.6.8? If yes, I assume you have your install disks? As the trash bin is part of Mail app and that is an integral part of the OS, the only way I know to get it back is to reinstall the OS. You won't lose any files, just reinstall the OS over the top of the current system.

    I thought yes, more like this on the right says no. Why not take the two devices outside and try.

    Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
    You can also try removing and reinstalling the app

  • Rnadom shutdown cause possibly found. (but its a long shot)

    This never happened until I set the option to allow "tapping" on the touchpad to simulate a click....
    Ill reset it and see if this makes a difference.
    Oh, and I have a macbook(duh), about 5 days old, and my serial is 4H631

    I am not sure if anyone else had this happen but just before my macbook started shutting down it came out of sleep and the keyboard stopped working. I had to restart to get it to function again. It had never done that before. I personally never set the tapping on the touch pad option though.
    I did recently start using a bluetooth mouse though. The computer is boxed up ready to go in for repair tomorrow - I might take it out and try it without the bluetooth turned on and see if it makes a difference. I forgot to mention that when I spoke to apple care yesterday.
    In case this helps, the following things did not solve the problem for me:
    reset the PMU
    reset the PRAM
    did a memtest
    reseated the ram (factory apple ram - I don't have third party ram)
    did a system hardware check
    erase and install taking it back from 10.4.7 to 10.4.6
    The folks at apple care told me to send it in as there was nothing else they could think of to try. As I said as a long shot I will try turning off bluetooth.
